Salt stress is one of the major factors limiting plant growth and productivity. Many studies have shown that serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT) gene play an important role in growth, development and stress response in plants. However, to date, there have been few studies on whether SHMT3 can enhance salt tolerance in plants. Therefore, the effects of overexpression or silencing of CsSHMT3 gene on cucumber seedling growth under salt stress were investigated in this study. The results showed that overexpression of CsSHMT3 gene in cucumber seedlings resulted in a significant increase in chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate and proline (Pro) content, and antioxidant enzyme activity under salt stress condition; whereas the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide anion (H2O2), hydrogen peroxide (O2·-) and relative conductivity were significantly decreased when CsSHMT3 gene was overexpressed. However, the content of chlorophyll and Pro, photosynthetic rate, and antioxidant enzyme activity of the silenced CsSHMT3 gene lines under salt stress were significantly reduced, while MDA, H2O2, O2·- content and relative conductivity showed higher level in the silenced CsSHMT3 gene lines. It was further found that the expression of stress-related genes SOD, CAT, SOS1, SOS2, NHX, and HKT was significantly up-regulated by overexpressing CsSHMT3 gene in cucumber seedlings; while stress-related gene expression showed significant decrease in silenced CsSHMT3 gene seedlings under salt stress. This suggests that overexpression of CsSHMT3 gene increased the salt tolerance of cucumber seedlings, while silencing of CsSHMT3 gene decreased the salt tolerance. In conclusion, CsSHMT3 gene might positively regulate salt stress tolerance in cucumber and be involved in regulating antioxidant activity, osmotic adjustment, and photosynthesis under salt stress. KEY MESSAGE: CsSHMT3 gene may positively regulate the expression of osmotic system, photosynthesis, antioxidant system and stress-related genes in cucumber.

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze developmental trends in anxiety and depression after myocardial infarction (ADMI) research in the past 20 years through bibliometrics analysis and predict future research directions. Methods: ADMI-related publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix software packages were used for bibliometric analysis and visualization. Results: Overall, 3220 ADMI-related publications were identified. The United States, China, and the Netherlands were the countries with the most publications. Carney RM, De Jonge P, and Blumenthal JA were the most influential researchers. In 2004, Van Melle JP, from the University of Groningen, published in Psychosomatic Medicine the most cited article. "Cardiac rehabilitation" was the primary focus area. "Cardiac rehabilitation," "management," "acute coronary syndrome," and "outcome" were the top four keywords in emerging research hotspots. Notably, the effect of traditional Chinese medicine on ADMI is an area of potential research value. Conclusion: Numerous studies have underscored the significance of cardiac rehabilitation. Present research focuses on managing anxiety and depression post-acute coronary syndrome and enhancing clinical outcomes through cardiac rehabilitation technology. Additionally, the therapeutic potential of traditional Chinese medicine for ADMI is expected to attract increased attention from researchers in the future.

In tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), the ripening of fruit is regulated by the selective expression of ripening-related genes, and this procedure is controlled by transcription factors (TFs). In the various plant-specific TF families, the no apical meristem (NAM), Arabidopsis thaliana activating factor 1/2 (ATAF1/2), and cup-shaped cotyledon 2 (CUC2; NAC) TF family stands out and plays a significant function in plant physiological activities, such as fruit ripening (FR). Despite the numerous genes of NAC found in the tomato genome, limited information is available on the effects of NAC members on FR, and there is also a lack of studies on their target genes. In this research, we focus on SlNAP1, which is a NAC TF that positively influences the FR of tomato. By employing CRISPR/Cas9 technology, compared with the wild type (WT), we generated slnap1 mutants and observed a delay in the ethylene production and color change of fruits. We employed the yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) and dual-luciferase reporter (DLR) assays to confirm that SlNAP1 directly binds to the promoters of two crucial genes involved in gibberellin (GA) degradation, namely SlGA2ox1 and SlGA2ox5, thus activating their expression. Furthermore, through a yeast two-hybrid (Y2H), bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BIFC) and luciferase (LUC) assays, we established an interaction between SlNAP1 and SlGID1. Hence, our findings suggest that SlNAP1 regulates FR positively by activating the GA degradation genes directly. Additionally, the interaction between SlNAP1 and SlGID1 may play a role in SlNAP1-induced FR. Overall, our study provides important insights into the molecular mechanisms through which NAC TFs regulate tomato FR via the GA pathway.

BACKGROUND: Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, affecting 32 million individuals worldwide. Although atrial fibrillation has been studied for decades, a comprehensive analysis using bibliometrics has not been performed for atrial fibrillation-left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). Therefore, we analyzed the scientific outputs of global LAAO research and explored the current research status and hotpots from 1994 to 2022. METHODS: We searched the Web of Science core collection for publications related to LAAO that were published between 1994 and 2022. We then performed bibliometric analysis and visualization using Microsoft Excel 2021, Bibliometric (https://bibliometric.com), VOSviewer (version 1.6.19), CiteSpace (version 6.2. R2), and the Bibliometrix 4.0.0 Package (https://www.bibliometrix.org) based on the R language were used to perform the bibliometric analysis, trend and emerging foci of LAAO in the past 29 years, including author, country, institution, journal distribution, article citations, and keywords. In total, we identified 1285 eligible publications in the field of LAAO, with an increasing trend in the annual number of publications. RESULTS: The United States is the country with the most published articles in this field, while the United Kingdom is the country with the most cited literature. Mayo Clinic, from the United States, has the most publications in this area and Horst Sievert from Germany had the highest number of individual publications. The analysis of keywords showed that fibrillation, stroke, safety, oral anticoagulants, and watchman were the main hotpots and frontier directions of LAAO. Surgical treatment of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, upgrading of related surgical instruments, and anticoagulation regimen after surgical treatment are the major research frontiers. CONCLUSION: We show that the research of percutaneous LAAO has been increasing rapidly over the last decade. Our aim was to overview past studies in the field of LAAO, to grasp the frame of LAAO research, and identify new perspectives for future research.

A continuously regenerated cationic impurity removal device (CR-CRD) has been fabricated and applied for ion chromatography (IC). The removal of cationic impurities is realized by electrodialytically replacing the cationic impurities with hydronium ions. The device is configured in a sandwich structure and the central eluent channel is respectively isolated from both electrodes by stacked cation exchange membranes and a bipolar membrane (BPM) plus stacked anion exchange membranes. The eluent channel is packed with cation exchange resins in hydronium form and their continuous regeneration can be achieved by electrodialysis. A desirable feature of the device is gas-free, and no degasser is required. It showed sufficient ability to remove cationic impurities, as indicated by > 99.9 % removal of 10 mL of 1 mM LiOH solution injected (∼10 µmol) or continuous removal of 1 mM LiOH solution at the flow rate of 1 mL/min (1 µmol/min). A useful application was for sample pretreatment in nuclear power industry, by eliminating strong matrix interference of the sample containing LiOH (1 mM) and boric acid (2000 mg/L) with trace anion analysis.

Previous studies found that histamine H2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) had blood pressure lowering and cardioprotective effects, but the impact of H2RAs on the survival outcomes of critically ill patients with essential hypertension is still unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of H2RAs exposure with all-cause mortality in patients with essential hypertension based on Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III database. A total of 17,739 patients were included, involving 8482 H2RAs users and 9257 non-H2RAs users. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to improve balance between 2 groups that were exposed to H2RAs or not. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to compare the cumulative survival rates and multivariable Cox regression models were performed to evaluate the association between H2RAs exposure and all-cause mortality. After 1:1 PSM, 4416 pairs of patients were enrolled. The results revealed potentially significant association between H2RAs exposure and decreased 30-day, 90-day, and 1-year mortalities in multivariate analyses (HR = 0.783, 95% CI: 0.696-0.882 for 30-day; HR = 0.860, 95% CI: 0.778-0.950 for 90-day; and HR = 0.883, 95% CI: 0.811-0.961 for 1-year mortality, respectively). Covariate effect analyses showed that the use of H2RAs was more beneficial in essential hypertension patients with age ≥ 60, BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2, coronary arteriosclerosis, stroke, and acute kidney failure, respectively. In conclusion, H2RAs exposure was related to lower mortalities in critically ill patients with essential hypertension, which provided novel potential strategy for the use of H2RAs in essential hypertension patients.

BACKGROUND: Microvascular decompression (MVD) is an effective nondestructive neurosurgical procedure for trigeminal neuralgia (TN). However, some patients may undergo surgery failure or experience pain recurrence, sparking debates on the need for reoperation. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 103 cases of patients with primary TN who underwent redo MVD at our center between January 2020 and December 2022. Comparative prognostic assessments were performed by comparing these cases against a cohort of 348 patients who underwent primary MVD during the same study period. RESULTS: During the redo MVD cases, arachnoid membranes adhesions (80.6%) and Teflon adhesions with/without granuloma (86.4%) as well as remaining vascular compression (36.9%) were observed. After the reoperation, an immediate relief rate of 94.2% was observed. During a mean follow-up period of 17.4 ± 4.4 months, a long-term relief rate of 89.3% was achieved. Postoperative complications included 3 cases of persistent paresthesia, 1 case each of hearing loss, cerebrospinal fluid leak, and facial palsy. Ten cases without evident compression received nerve combing and all experienced immediate complete relief, with only 1 patient experiencing recurrence 9 months after surgery. Compared to the primary MVD group, the reoperation group had a higher average age, longer disease duration, and operating time (P < 0.05). However, there were no significant differences in immediate relief rate, long-term relief rate, or complications between the 2 groups. The main cause of persistent symptom was inadequate decompression, such as missing the offending vessel; while the recurrent was primarily due to Teflon adhesion or granuloma formation. CONCLUSIONS: The redo MVD for TN is equally efficacious and safe compared to the primary procedure, with an emphasis on meticulous dissection and thorough decompression. Additionally, nerve combing proves to be an effective supplementary option for patients without obvious compression.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the potential of employing machine learning algorithms based on intracranial pressure (ICP), ICP-derived parameters, and their complexity to predict the severity and short-term prognosis of traumatic brain injury (TBI). METHODS: A single-center prospectively collected cohort of neurosurgical intensive care unit admissions was analyzed. We extracted ICP-related data within the first 6 hours and processed them using complex algorithms. To indicate TBI severity and short-term prognosis, Glasgow Coma Scale score on the first postoperative day and Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended score at discharge were used as binary outcome variables. A univariate logistic regression model was developed to predict TBI severity using only mean ICP values. Subsequently, 3 multivariate Random Forest (RF) models were constructed using different combinations of mean and complexity metrics of ICP-related data. To avoid overfitting, five-fold cross-validations were performed. Finally, the best-performing multivariate RF model was used to predict patients' discharge Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended score. RESULTS: The logistic regression model exhibited limited predictive ability with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.558. Among multivariate models, the RF model, combining the mean and complexity metrics of ICP-related data, achieved the most robust ability with an AUC of 0.815. Finally, in terms of predicting discharge Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended score, this model had a consistent performance with an AUC of 0.822. Cross-validation analysis confirmed the performance. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates the clinical utility of the RF model, which integrates the mean and complexity metrics of ICP data, in accurately predicting the TBI severity and short-term prognosis.

This study utilizes network pharmacology analysis to investigate the components, targets, and pathways involved in the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) with the combination of "Astragali Radix-Cassia Twig-Poria." The TCMSP, GeneCards, OMIM, PharmGkb, TTD, and DrugBank databases were utilized to identify the active ingredients and targets of this combination for CHF. Protein interactions were derived from the STRING database, and Cytoscape was used to construct the "drug-component-target-disease" network and protein interactions network. The GO function and KEGG signaling pathway were enriched, and molecular docking was performed to verify the stability of the core components and their targets. The study identified 41 active ingredients, 101 targets (including 94 related to CHF), 9 core targets, and 26 core ingredients of "Astragali Radix-Cassia Twig-Poria." Additionally, 1444 GO entries and 140 KEGG pathways (including 36 related to CHF) were found. Molecular docking results confirmed the binding ability of the combination to core targets. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the key components, targets, and pathways involved in the treatment of CHF with "Astragali Radix-Cassia Twig-Poria," contributing to further research on its pharmacological effects.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative condition. The search for multi-target traditional Chinese medicines or ingredients for treating AD has attracted much attention. Corydalis rhizome (CR) is a traditional Chinese medicine. Its main components are alkaloids, which have therapeutic effects that can potentially be used for treating AD. However, no systematic study has been conducted to explore the anti-AD efficacy of CR, as well as its active compounds and mechanisms of action. Objective: The present study aimed to clarify CR's active constituents and its pharmacological mechanisms in treating AD. Methods: A D-galactose & scopolamine hydrobromide-induced AD mouse model was used and CR was administered orally. The prototypical alkaloid components were identified in the serum. The core components, key targets, and possible mechanisms of action of these alkaloids were revealed through network pharmacology. Molecular docking of the key target was performed. Finally, the mechanism was validated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced activation of BV2 microglia. Results: The results showed that CR improved anxiety-like behavior, spatial and non-spatial recognition, and memory capacity in AD mice. It also achieved synergistic AD treatment by modulating neurotransmitter levels, anti-neuroinflammation, and anti-oxidative stress. The core components that enhance CR's efficacy in treating AD are protoberberine-type alkaloids. The CR may induce the polarization of LPS-activated BV2 microglia from phenotype M1 to M2. This is partially achieved by modulating the IL-6/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, which could be the mechanism by which CR treats AD through anti-inflammation. Conclusion: The present study provided a theoretical and experimental basis for the clinical application of CR in treating AD. It also provides information that aids the secondary development, and precise clinical use of CR.

Background: Our previous study reported that histamine H2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) exposure was associated with decreased mortality in critically ill patients with heart failure (HF) through the same pharmacological mechanism as ß-blockers. However, population-based clinical study directly comparing the efficacy of H2RAs and ß-blockers on mortality of HF patients are still lacking. This study aims to compare the association difference of H2RAs and ß-blockers on mortality in critically ill patients with HF using the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III database (MIMIC-III). Methods: Study population was divided into 4 groups: ß-blockers + H2RAs group, ß-blockers group, H2RAs group, and Non-ß-blockers + Non-H2RAs group. Kaplan-Meier curves and multivariable Cox regression models were employed to evaluate the differences of all-cause mortalities among the 4 groups. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to increase comparability of four groups. Results: A total of 5593 patients were included. After PSM, multivariate analyses showed that patients in H2RAs group had close all-cause mortality with patients in ß-blockers group. Furthermore, 30-day, 1-year, 5-year and 10-year all-mortality of patients in ß-blockers + H2RAs group were significantly lower than those of patients in ß-blockers group, respectively (HR: 0.64, 95%CI: 0.50-0.82 for 30-day; HR: 0.80, 95%CI: 0.69-0.93 for 1-year mortality; HR: 0.83, 95%CI: 0.74-0.93 for 5-year mortality; and HR: 0.85, 95%CI: 0.76-0.94 for 10-year mortality, respectively). Conclusion: H2RAs exposure exhibited comparable all-cause mortality-decreasing effect as ß-blockers; and, furthermore, H2RAs and ß-blockers had additive or synergistic interactions to improve survival in critically ill patients with HF.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate factors concerning patients regarding biological/target synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (b/ts DMARDs) in treating inflammatory arthritis (IA). DESIGN: This study consists of a systematic review and a cross-sectional survey in Hong Kong. A systematic review of literature following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses was conducted on PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane and Embase between 1 January 2000 and 1 January 2022. Content analysis was conducted to summarise factors grouped by four themes-social aspects (SA), clinical aspects (CA), medicine characteristics (MC) and financial aspects (FA) in the decision-making process. One cross-sectional survey among Hong Kong patients with IA was conducted to add to global evidence. SETTING: A systematic review of global evidence and a patient-based survey in Hong Kong to complement scarce evidence in Asia regions. RESULTS: The systematic review resulted in 34 studies. The four themes were presented in descending order consistently but varied with frequency throughout decision-making processes. During decision-making involving medication initiation, preference and discontinuation, MC (reported frequency: 83%, 86%, 78%), SA (56%, 43%, 78%) and FA (39%, 33%, 56%) were the three most frequently reported factors, whereas CA was less studied. Local survey also revealed that MC factors such as treatment efficacy and the probability of severe adverse events, and SA factors such as the availability of government or charity subsidy, influenced patients' initiation and preference for b/ts DMARDs. Meanwhile, self-estimated improvement in disease conditions (SA), drug side effects (MC) and drug costs (FA) were associated with treatment discontinuation. CONCLUSIONS: Global and local evidence consistently indicate that MC and SA are important considerations in patients' decisions regarding novel DMARDs. Health policies that reduce patients' financial burden and enhances healthcare professionals' engagement in decision-making and treatment delivery should be in place with an efficient healthcare system for managing IA optimistically.

Trehalose may improve plant stress tolerance by regulating gene expression under different abiotic stresses. DNA methylation is involved in plant growth and development, but also in response to abiotic stresses. 5-azacytidine is a widely used inhibitor of DNA methylation. In this study, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. 'Ailsa Craig') was used as experimental material to explore the effects of trehalose and DNA methylation on the growth and development in tomato seedlings under salt stress. 10 mM trehalose, 50 µM 5-azacytidine, and their combined treatments could significantly increase growth parameters in tomato under salt stress, indicating trehalose and 5-azacytidine might play crucial roles in alleviating salt stress both synergistically and independently. Additionally, trehalose significantly down-regulated the expression of DNA methylase genes (SlDRM5, SlDRM1L1, SlCMT3 and SlCMT2) and up-regulated the expression of DNA demethylases genes under salt stress, suggesting that trehalose might regulate DNA methylation under salt stress condition. Under salt stress, trehalose and 5-azacytidine treatments enhanced antioxidant enzyme activity and induced antioxidant enzyme gene expression in tomato seedlings. Meanwhile, trehalose and 5-azacytidine increased ABA content by regulating the expression of ABA metabolism-related genes, thereby enhancing salt tolerance in tomato. Altogether, these results suggest that trehalose conferred salt tolerance in tomato seedlings probably by DNA demethylation and enhancing antioxidant capability and ABA accumulation.

BACKGROUND: Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is a subtype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Due to its location, the thickening of the left ventricular apex can be missed on echocardiography. Giant negative T waves (GNTs) in left-sided chest leads are the hallmark electrocardiogram (ECG) change of AHCM. CASE SUMMARY: The first patient was a 68-year-old woman complaining of recurrent chest tightness persisting for more than 3 years. The second was a 59-year-old man complaining of spasmodic chest tightness persisting for more than 2 years. The third was a 55-year-old woman complaining of recurrent chest pain persisting for 4 mo. In all three cases, GNTs were observed several years prior to apical cardiac hypertrophy after other causes of T-wave inversion were ruled out. CONCLUSION: Electrophysiological abnormalities of AHCM appear earlier than structural abnormalities, confirming the early predictive value of ECG for AHCM.

Accumulating evidences strongly support the correlations between the compositions of gut microbiome and therapeutic effects on Type 2 diabetes (T2D). Notably, gut microbes such as Akkermansia muciniphila are found able to regulate microecological balance and alleviate dysmetabolism of mice bearing T2D. In order to search out similarly functional bacteria, bacteriophage MS2 with a good specificity to bacteria carrying fertility (F) factor were used to treat T2D mice. Based on multi-omics analysis of microbiome and global metabolism of mice, we observed that gavage of bacteriophage MS2 and metformin led to a significant increase in the abundance of Corynebacterium glutamicum and A. muciniphila, respectively. Consequently, the gut microbiota were remodeled, leading to variations in metabolites and a substantial increase in short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). In which, the amount of acetate, propionate, and butyrate presented negative correlations to that of proinflammatory cytokines, which was beneficial to repairing the intestinal barriers and improving their functions. Moreover, main short fatty acid (SCFA) producers exhibited positive interactions, further facilitating the restoration of gut eubiosis. These findings revealed that C. glutamicum and its metabolites may be potential dietary supplements for the treatment of T2D. Moreover, our research contributes to a novel understanding of the underlying mechanism by which functional foods exert their anti-diabetic effects.

Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is associated with cardiovascular health; however, the causal relationship between BMR and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the potential causal relationship of BMR on common CVDs including aortic aneurysm (AA), atrial fibrillation and flutter (AFF), calcific aortic valvular stenosis (CAVS), heart failure (HF), and myocardial infarction (MI) by Mendelian randomization (MR). The univariable MR analysis using inverse variance weighted (IVW) model as the primary analysis method revealed that genetically predicted higher BMR causally increased the risk of AA [IVW odds ratio (OR) = 1.34, 95% confidence interval CI 1.09-1.65, p = 0.00527], AFF (IVW OR = 1.87, 95% CI 1.65-2.12, p = 1.697 × E-22), and HF (IVW OR = 1.35, 95% CI 1.20-1.51, p = 2.364 × E-07), while causally decreasing the risk of MI (IVW OR = 0.83, 95% CI 0.73-0.93, p = 0.00255). In the multivariable MR analysis, which controlled for common cardiovascular risk factors, direct effects of BMR on an increased risk of AA and AFF, as well as a decreased risk of MI, but an attenuated causal effect on HF, were observed. In conclusion, the current MR study provides evidence for a causal relationship between BMR and the risk of AA, AFF, HF, and MI.

Background: During the prevalence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), little was known about the knowledge, attitudes, practices (KAP) about COVID-19 and psychological status of college students in minority areas. This study aimed to evaluate the KAP of college students in minority areas of China toward COVID-19 and to provide a scientific basis for health education and policy formulation. Methods: From October 28th to November 6th, 2021, a cross-sectional study was conducted with 5,272 college students to examine KAP and its effects on mental health. Results: Regarding COVID-19 knowledge, the overall awareness rate was 24.11% (1,271). Regarding health attitudes, most students had positive attitudes about COVID-19 prevention and control (94.95%), and females had higher positive attitudes than males (OR: 1.920; CI: 1.494-2.469). Regarding preventive behaviors, more than half of the students took preventive measures (53.48%), and freshmen had the highest health behavior scores. In terms of psychological status, there were fewer females with depression and stress than males. Conclusion: College students in minority areas have positive health attitudes; however, their knowledge of COVID-19 prevention and control is low. Moreover, their precautionary behaviors are insufficient, and they have many negative emotions.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to compare the cardiovascular safety of interleukin-6 inhibitors (IL-6i) and Janus Kinase inhibitors (JAKi) to tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi). METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using population-based electronic databases from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. We identified newly diagnosed patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who received b/tsDMARDs first time. We followed patients from b/tsDMARD initiation to the earliest outcome (acute coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, venous thromboembolism and systemic embolism) or censoring events (death, transformation of b/tsDMARDs on different targets, discontinuation and study end). Using TNFi as reference, we applied generalized linear regression for the incidence rate ratio estimation adjusted by age, sex, disease duration and comorbidities. Random effects meta-analysis was used for pooled analysis. RESULTS: We identified 8689 participants for this study. Median (interquartile range) follow-up years were 1.45 (2.77) in Hong Kong, 1.72 (2.39) in Taiwan and 1.45 (2.46) in Korea. Compared to TNFi, the adjusted incidence rate ratios (aIRRs) (95% confidence interval [CI]) of IL-6i in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea are 0.99 (0.25, 3.95), 1.06 (0.57, 1.98) and 1.05 (0.59, 1.86) and corresponding aIRR of JAKi are 1.50 (0.42, 5.41), 0.60 (0.26, 1.41), and 0.81 (0.38, 1.74), respectively. Pooled aIRRs showed no significant risk of cardiovascular events (CVEs) associated with IL-6i (1.05 [0.70, 1.57]) nor JAKi (0.80 [0.48, 1.35]) compared to TNFi. CONCLUSION: There was no difference in the risk of CVE among RA patients initiated with IL-6i, or JAKi compared to TNFi. The finding is consistent in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

Herein, a novel triple-layered heterojunction catalytic cathode membrane (PVDF/rGO/TFe/MnO2, TMOHccm) was reported and applied in seawater electro membrane reactor assisted electrolytic cell system (SEMR-EC), achieving increased properties for cyanide wastewater treatment. Hydrophilic TMOHccm exhibits higher electrochemical activity (qT* 1.11 C cm-2, qo* 0.03 C cm-2), indicating excellent electron transfer efficiency. Further analysis shows a one-electron redox cycle of exposed transition metal oxides (TMOs) on rGO support mediated oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) process, and calculated results of density functional theory (DFT) demonstrates positive Bader charge (72 |e|) of synthesized catalyst. The developed SEMR-EC was implemented in intermittent-stream operation for treating cyanide wastewater, the system achieved optimized decyanation and carbon removal performance (CN- 100%, TOC 88.49%). Hyperoxidation active species produced SEMR-EC including hydroxyl, sulfate, and reactive chlorine species (RCS) was confirmed. The proposed mechanistic explanation indicated multiple removal pathways relevant to cyanide, organic matter, and iron were elucidated, and the engineering applications prospects were highlighted by cost (5.61 $) and benefit (Ce 399.26 mW m-2 $-1, EFe 248.11 g kWh-1) analysis of the system.

Two novel cinnamoyl-containing nonribosomal peptides (CCNPs) grisgenomycin A and B were identified in Streptomyces griseus NBRC 13350 (CGMCC 4.5718) and ATCC 12475, through genome mining using conserved adjacent LuxR family regulators as probes and activators. Notably, grisgenomycins represent a new group of bicyclic decapeptides featuring an unprecedented C-C bond between the tryptophan carbocycle and the cinnamoyl group. A plausible biosynthetic pathway for grisgenomycins was deduced by a bioinformatics analysis. Grisgenomycins exhibited activity against human coronaviruses at the micromolar level.
