ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To study the study the impact of negative factors of professional activities on the health of law enforcement officers. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The research involved 89 law enforcement officers (58 men, and 31 women) who served for a year in practical police units after graduating from a higher educational institution. Methods: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, anthropometry, physiometry, testing, and statistical methods. The health status was assessed by body mass index, Robinson index, and vital index. RESULTS: Results: It was found that the body mass index of law enforcement officers for one year of service in practical units deteriorated in both men and women by 1.3 kg/m2 and 0.9 kg/m2, respectively. More negative changes were observed in men. At the same time, after one year of service, the number of men with overweight (27.5 %) and even obesity of the first (13.9 %) and second (5.2 %) degrees increased significantly. In women, the changes were less pronounced. The dynamics of Robinson and vital indices, as well as the level of physical fitness, were also negative. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The results of the research indicate a negative impact of professional factors in terms of professional activities on the health of law enforcement officers. It has been found that adherence to the principles of a healthy lifestyle, in particular, a regimen of rationally organized motor activity, is an important area in combating the impact of negative factors of professional activities on the health of law enforcement officers.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To study the attitude of law enforcement officers to motor activity and investigate its impact on their health. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The research, which was conducted in 2022-2024, involved 163 law enforcement officers under the age of 30. Research methods: bibliosemantic, questionnaire, testing, medical and biological methods, methods of mathematical statistics. RESULTS: Results: It has been found that the vast majority of law enforcement officers (85.3 %) understand the importance of motor activity as a factor of a healthy lifestyle, its impact on physical and mental health, and quality of their professional activities. At the same time, only 27.6 % of law enforcement officers systematically engage in motor activity, 52.8 % do it sporadically, and 25.8 % do not engage in it at all. Among the reasons that prevent them from exercising are lack of time (65.6 %), lack of desire (31.3 %), and fatigue after a service day (28.1 %). It has been found that law enforcement officers who systematically engage in motor activity have a significantly better level of health (7.31 points) compared to those who engage in occasional motor activity (5.07 points) and do not engage at all (2.19 points). CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The positive impact of motor activity on the level of health of law enforcement officers has been proved. Good health is a guarantee of high resistance of law enforcement officers to negative factors of professional activities, professional longevity, and quality of their professional tasks.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To investigate the levels and indicators of professional deformation in instructor-officers with different service experience as a negative factor in their professional health. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The research, which was conducted in 2022-2023, involved 136 instructor-officers of the National Academy of Internal Affairs aged 25-55 years with different service experience (up to 5 years - 21 people, 5-10 years - 45 people, 10-15 years - 42 people, over 15 years - 28 people). RESULTS: Results: The dynamics of the levels of professional deformation in instructor-officers of higher educational institutions depending on the experience of their service activities have been determined, and the peculiarities of the manifestation of key professional and psychological indicators that affect their professional health in the course of their service activities have been revealed. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Professional deformation can be manifested at the initial, middle, and deep levels. The experience of service activities makes adjustments to the formation of professional deformation in instructor-officers because deformational changes in personality occur under the constant influence of the conditions of the profession. With the increase in experience, they become more adapted to stressful phenomena and tense situations of service activities, but the degree of desire to change the type of activity increases. The decrease in proactive attitude and selectivity of contacts during the performance of professional tasks is often accompanied by exhaustion, which indicates a progressive tendency to the development of deformational changes in instructor-officers.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To substantiate the methodology for assessing the biological age of adolescent high schoolers (boys and girls). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: Boys aged 14-15 (n = 102) and girls aged 12-13 (n = 101) were studied. The choice of these age groups is explained by the presence of the most significant individual differences in morphological and functional characteristics in these adolescents. Methods: anthropometry, somatometry, somatoscopy, tonometry, spirometry, dynamometry, Stange's test, Rufier and Robinson indices. The interaction of the results of different methods of assessing biological age was conducted on one sex-age sample using factor analysis (principal components method). RESULTS: Results: It has been established that the biological age of adolescents can be reliably determined using a set of three components: an assessment of the level of physical development, the index of heterochronicity, and the degree of manifestation of secondary sexual characteristics (for boys with a probability of 90.2 %, for girls - 92.1 %). The percentage ratio of these components has sexual peculiarities. Methodologies for assessing biological age for scientific purposes and rapid assessment for use in the practice of physical education and sports have been proposed. The indicators of rapid assessment are body length and the degree of hair development in the axilla. The reliability of the rapid assessment is 81.4 % for boys and 83.2 % for girls. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Developing adequate physical activities for adolescents of different biological ages will help improve the physical health of the younger generation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To investigate cadets' motivational priorities for physical exercises and sports in the process of their training and the dynamics of their health indicators. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: The research was conducted at the National Academy of Internal Affairs in 2018-2022. The research of motivational priorities involved 372 male cadets from the 1st to the 4th instructional years aged 17 to 22. Two groups were formed to investigate the state of cadets' health: group A (n = 39) included motivated cadets who were additionally engaged in sports, group B (n = 66) was represented by insufficiently motivated cadets who undertook training according to the traditional physical education program and did not additionally engage in physical exercises and sports. RESULTS: Results: It was found that the motivational priorities of cadets for physical exercises and sports vary depending on the instructional year. Group A cadets showed a significantly better level of health than those from group B, by 2.98 points (p ≤ 0.001) during the 4th instructional year. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: A high level of cadets' health formed in the process of physical exercises and sports during training will contribute to the mastering of the educational program and, in the future, will ensure the effectiveness of their service activities. Therefore, the formation of cadets' conscious motivation for motor activities during training in order to improve their health is an important task of higher educational institutions.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The aim: To investigate the impact of professional stress on the mental health of law enforcement officers. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: The research involved two groups of law enforcement officers (aged 25-40): the first group with up to 7 years of service activities (n = 52), the second group - 8-15 years (n = 48). Research methods: bibliosemantic, questionnaire, testing, method of system analysis and generalization, mathematical and statistical. RESULTS: Results: It was found that law enforcement officers of both groups identified indicators of a significant professional workload, lack of adequate rest, and the nature of communication with participants in professional relationships among the factors of professional stress. It is proved that the mental health of law enforcement officers deteriorates under the influence of professional stress with the experience of their professional activities. Law enforcement officers with 8-15 years of service experience have significantly (p < 0.05-0.001) worse indicators of anxiety, aggressiveness, motivation, personal detachment, impulsive¬ness, vigor, and work efficiency. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: It was established that the professional stress of law enforcement officers is the result of an imbalance between the internal resources of the individual and the requirements of the external environment, embodied in the peculiarities of law enforcement activities. Law enforcement officers are char¬acterized by the presence of professional stress of average and high severity, which increases with the experience of their service activities. A set of measures was proposed to provide psychological assistance to law enforcement officers to effectively counteract professional stress and improve their mental health.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The aim is to determine the peculiarities of the affective-cognitive indicator of emotional intelligence in high schoolers with intellectual disabilities. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: The study, which was conducted during 2019-2020, involved 76 high schoolers in the age of 14-17 who studied in the 7-9th grades in Kyiv schools (Ukraine) (45 high schoolers with intellectual disabilities and 31 high schoolers with normative development). The diagnosis of the high schoolers' ability to perceive, understand and identify emotions; to assimilate emotions in thoughts, to stimulate thought processes with the help of emotions was carried out. The Mayer-Salovey-Caruzo Emotional Intelligence Test, adapted for children with intellectual disabilities, was used. RESULTS: Results: Insufficient formedness of the affective-cognitive indicator of emotional intelligence in high schoolers with intellectual disabilities has been determined: a decrease in the level of perception of emotions by expression; superficial perception of expressive features, vagueness of ideas about them; insufficient differentiation of the constituent elements of the emotional model; difficulties of orientation in a set of emotional signs of different modalities; lack of understanding of social emotions and the content of a moral act. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: It has been proven that the low state of formedness of the affective-cognitive indicator of emotional intelligence results in significant difficulties that arise during interaction with each other, and this affects primarily the further socialization and integration into society.
