ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Perform the validation and psychometric evaluation of the Brazilian-Portuguese translation of the Functional Outcome of Sleep Questionnaire 10 (FOSQ10). MATERIALS AND METHODS: 182 patients (65 females 48.3±14.4 years and 117 males 46.9±12.4 years), were evaluated by sleep physicians suspected of having Obstructive Sleep Apnea, underwent polysomnography and completed the FOSQ-10 and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. APA & NCME, 2014 was used to validate the data as the American Educational Research Association recommended. RESULTS: Quality indicators such as Bartlett's test of sphericity (χ2 = 1108.2; gL=45; p= 0.000010) and KMO (0.83), and adherence measures, attest to the quality of the model. The indicators TLI (0.97), CFI (0.98), and RMSEA (0.04) fall within the expected values. Using the Eigenvalue > 1 technique, two factors explain 53% and 13.3% of the variances. In the Parallel Analysis technique, a single factor explained 59.4653% of the random variance, and the Unidimensionality indicators UniCo = 0.921, ECV = 0.822, and MIREAL = 0.253, were supported. Construct Validity: reliability coefficients Cronbach's α = 0.87, McDonald's ordinal Omega index 0.9, and the Composite Reliability 0.891 were satisfactory. CONVERGENT VALIDITY: There was a significant Spearman correlation between FOSQ-10 and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (r = 0.364 [-0.487; -0.226]). CRITERION VALIDITY: Was not possible to differentiate the groups based on the severity of AHI using FOSQ-10P. CONCLUSIONS: The Brazilian translation of FOSQ-10 is valid and reliable for identifying significant effects of excessive daytime sleepiness in patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate up-to-date scientific information about physical activity, COVID-19, and childhood cancer. This study is an integrative review. Research was conducted in the Science Direct database, using keywords in three different combinations. In total, 50 publications classified as the most relevant of each keyword combination were selected, 26 eligible publications were reached from August 2019 to July 2021, of which nine were duplicates. When exclusion criteria were applied, 11 complete studies were selected. The level of physical activity (PA) of children diagnosed with cancer or those who survived cancer is low. Changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic include the decrease in the level of PA and the increase in the use of technological devices. The minimum PA recommendations for this population vary but some evidence supports its importance and benefits in minimizing the adverse effects arising from cancer and from the performed medical treatment. Exercise-based interventions should be chosen and carried out considering the type of cancer and the stage of treatment the child is in due to the evidence of its effectiveness.


RESUMEN Este estudio tiene como objetivo investigar, en la base de datos ScienceDirect, la información científica actualizada sobre actividad física, COVID-19 y cáncer infantil, mediante una revisión integradora, en la cual se utilizaron las palabras clave en tres combinaciones diferentes. Se seleccionaron cincuenta publicaciones clasificadas como las más relevantes de cada combinación, y se alcanzaron 26 publicaciones elegibles en el periodo entre agosto de 2019 y julio de 2021, de las cuales nueve fueron textos duplicados. Al aplicar los criterios de exclusión, se seleccionaron 11 artículos completos. El nivel de actividad física (AF) de los niños diagnosticados de cáncer o supervivientes de cáncer es bajo, y entre los cambios provocados por la pandemia de la COVID-19 se encuentran la disminución del nivel de AF y el aumento en el uso de dispositivos tecnológicos. Las recomendaciones mínimas de AF para esta población varían entre sí, sin embargo, existe evidencia que respalda su importancia y los beneficios en la minimización de los efectos adversos derivados del propio cáncer y del tratamiento médico realizado. Las intervenciones basadas en ejercicios, para la cual ya existe evidencia de efectividad, deben elegirse y llevarse a cabo teniendo en cuenta el tipo de cáncer y la etapa de tratamiento en la que se encuentra el niño.


RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar, na base de dados Science Direct, informações científicas sobre atividade física, covid-19 e câncer infantojuvenil, através de uma revisão integrativa, utilizando três combinações de palavras-chave. Cinquenta publicações mais relevantes de cada combinação de palavras-chave foram selecionadas, e chegou-se a 26 artigos elegíveis no período compreendido entre agosto de 2019 e julho de 2021, dos quais nove eram textos duplicados. Aplicando-se os critérios de exclusão, foram selecionados 11 estudos completos. Constatou-se que o nível de atividade física (AF) de crianças com câncer ou sobreviventes do câncer é baixo e que entre as mudanças causadas pela pandemia de covid-19 estão a diminuição do nível de AF e o aumento do uso de dispositivos tecnológicos. As recomendações mínimas de AF para essa população variam, entretanto há evidências que sustentam sua importância e seus benefícios ao minimizar os efeitos adversos oriundos do próprio câncer e do tratamento médico realizado. As intervenções baseadas em exercícios, para as quais já há evidência de eficácia, devem ser escolhidas e realizadas a partir do tipo de câncer e na fase do tratamento em que a criança está.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo a busca de registros com diferenças significativas a respeito da saúde física de pacientes com câncer ao praticarem exergames. Utilizou-se como método a Revisão Integrativa de Literatura com as palavras chaves "Fisioterapia", "Realidade Virtual", "Wii", "Exergames" e "Câncer", em português e inglês, nas bases de dados PubMed, Science Direct, Medline, Scopus, Lilacs, SciELO, PEDro, Cochrane e Periódicos Capes. Os critérios de inclusão foram: estudos que utilizassem exergames em tratamentos clínicos e que apresentassem diferenças sobre a saúde física de pacientes com diagnóstico de câncer, de ambos os sexos, de todas as idades e tipos de câncer, publicados nos últimos 10 anos, em qualquer idioma. Dos 3172 artigos encontrados, apenas nove foram incluídos, sendo que esses avaliaram: desempenho físico, sedentarismo, funcionalidade de membros superiores, força muscular de membros inferiores e fadiga. Concluiu-se que os exergames demostraram ser ferramenta promissora para a saúde física de pacientes com diagnóstico de câncer.


RESUMEN El objetivo de este estudio fue verificar el impacto de diferentes ecuaciones de referencia brasileñas para la distancia recorrida en la prueba de caminata de 6 minutos (PC6min) en la evaluación de la capacidad de ejercicio funcional en pacientes con cáncer de pulmón (CP). Este estudio transversal incluyó a 48 pacientes con CP (promedio de edad de 60±12 años). Se evaluó las características sociodemográficas, clínicas y la capacidad funcional de los participantes para ejercitarse en la PC6min según los criterios internacionales. Se analizaron cinco ecuaciones. La distancia recorrida por los pacientes (503±102 metros) estuvo relativamente cerca de las distancias predichas por las ecuaciones de referencia (82-94% del predicho), aunque son estadísticamente menores (p<0,05 para todas).


ABSTRACT This study aimed to search for records with significant differences regarding the physical health of cancer patients when practicing exergaming. The integrative literature review was used as method with the keywords "Physiotherapy," "Virtual Reality," "Wii," "Exergames" and "Cancer," in Portuguese and English, in the following databases: PubMed, Science Direct, Medline, Scopus, Lilacs, SciELO, PEDro, Cochrane and Capes Journals. The inclusion criteria were studies that used exergaming in clinical treatments and presented differences on the physical health of patients diagnosed with cancer, of both sexes, of all ages and types of cancer, published in the last 10 years, in any language. Of the 3,172 articles found, only nine were included; they evaluated physical performance, sedentary lifestyle, upper limbs functionality, lower limbs muscle strength and fatigue. The review concluded that exergaming is a promising tool for the physical health of patients diagnosed with cancer.

ABSTRACT

In order to describe the role of wild birds and pigeons in the transmission of shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) and enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) to humans and other animals, samples were collected from cloacae and oropharynx of free-living wild birds and free-living pigeons. Two STEC (0.8%) and five EPEC strains (2.0%) were isolated from wild birds and four EPEC strains (2.0%) were recovered from pigeons. Serogroups, sequence types (STs) and virulence genes, such as saa, iha, lpfA O113, ehxA, espA, nleB and nleE, detected in this study had already been implicated in human and animal diseases. Multidrug resistance (MDR) was found in 25.0% of the pigeon strains and in 57.0% of the wild bird strains; the wild birds also yielded one isolate carrying extended-spectrum ß-lactamases (ESBLs) gene bla CTX-M-8. The high variability shown by PFGE demonstrates that there are no prevalent E. coli clones from these avian hosts. Wild birds and pigeons could act as carriers of multidrug-resistant STEC and EPEC and therefore may constitute a considerable hazard to human and animal health by transmission of these strains to the environment.

ABSTRACT

A competitive liquid-phase-blocking concanavalin A enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (LPB-ConA-ELISA) was developed in the current study. The assay used ConA as a capture reagent, and the sera of specific pathogen-free chickens immunized with nonpurified Newcastle disease virus (NDV) suspension as detector antibodies, to detect and quantify specific antiviral antibodies in serum samples from free-ranging pigeons. The comparison between the LPB-ConA-ELISA and the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test for the detection of antibodies in serum samples from 107 pigeons showed significant correlation between the assays (r = 0.875), a high sensitivity (100%), specificity (95.8%), accuracy (96.3%) for the ELISA, and good agreement (κ = 0.83) between the 2 assays. The results of this study suggest that the LPB-ConA-ELISA could be a useful alternative to HI test in the serodiagnosis of NDV in pigeons, or other species of birds.

Composting is a controlled aerobic process to treat and stabilize organic wastes, transforming them into organic fertilizers. It is environmentally friendly (by treating polluting wastes and recycling nutrients and materials), sanitary (by breaking the cycle of diseases and eliminating vectors) and socially beneficial (by generating jobs and improving crop yields). The use of compost from urban waste (the product obtained by composting the organic part of solid household wastes) can improve soil fertility without harming the environment. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of levels of organic fertilizer (waste compost - WC) on soil macronutrient contents. The experiment was performed at the Animal Nutrition and Pasture Center Instituto de Zootecnia Nova Odessa, SP, between January and June 2013, in a Haplorthox soil (pHCaCl2= 4.9), cultivated with piatagrass (Brachiaria brizantha, Stapf), without liming. The treatments involved five rates of WC application: 0, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 Mg ha-1, mixed with soil before sowing the grass. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with five replications, in pottery vessels (3.34 dm3). Soil samples were collected prior to the experiment (original soil) and after cultivation of the grass (60 days after application). ABSTRACT

OBJETIVO: Analisar as características biomecânicas do equilíbrio dos idosos, com base na oscilação do centro de pressão em cinco posições de colocação dos pés, com olhos abertos e fechados. Participaram da amostra vinte idosos sendo que para aquisição dos dados utilizou-se a plataforma de força extensométrica amti® or6-5, com freqüência de 100hz durante 60s. MÉTODOS: Processou-se a filtragem dos dados com fft butterworth de 4ª ordem e passa baixa de 20 hz e aplicou-se os testes estatísticos de kruskal wallis e de mann whitney. RESULTADOS: As situações que apresentaram menor estabilidade foram as posições com os olhos fechados e as posições com polígono de sustentação reduzido e as que apresentaram maior estabilidade foram a posição com pés afastados a 10cm e angulados a 45º a posição livre e a posição com pés paralelos e afastados a 10cm todas com olhos abertos. CONCLUSÃO: O feedback visual contribuiu no controle postural.


OBJECTIVE: To analyze the biomechanical characteristics of balance in elderly people, based on pressure center oscillation in five foot positions, carried out with open and closed eyes. the sample was made up of 20 elderly people. data were collected using a force platform (amti® or6-5) adjusted to the frequency of 100hz over 60 seconds. METHODS: Data were filtered using a 4th order butterworth filter and fft (fast fourier transform) as well as a 20 hz low pass filter. the kruskal-wallis and mann whitney statistical tests were applied. RESULTS: The cases with the least stability were the positions with eyes closed and those with a reduced sustentation polygon. the positions that presented the greatest stability were the feet 10cm apart at an angle of 45º, a free standing position, and that with feet parallel and 10cm apart, all with the eyes open. CONCLUSION: Visual feedback contributed to posture control.

ABSTRACT

Trata-se de um estudo exploratório empírico, de natureza qualitativa, que busca analisar, sob a ótica das relações de gênero, as singularidades das trajetórias afetivas, sexuais e reprodutivas de mulheres jovens de estratos populares do município de São Paulo, a partir de suas experiências de socialização. Por meio de entrevistas em profundidade semi-estruturadas realizadas com seis jovens, entre 16 e 20 anos, quatro das quais com experiência de gravidez na adolescência, buscou-se compreender, em primeiro lugar, o processo de aprendizagem das “regras” sociais da sexualidade modeladas e preconizadas pelos diversos agentes socializadores, bem como de que modo as jovens articulam e se apropriam desses saberes, formando seu acervo de conhecimentos sobre sexualidade. Em segundo lugar, buscou-se a identificação e a analise dos elementos que são percebidos pelas jovens como mais relevantes na concretização ou no adiamento do projeto de maternidade.
