ABSTRACT

Estimating the post-mortem interval (PMI) of human remains based on the histomorphology of dental pulp parameters is promising, but available evidence is scarce and sometimes contradictory without a scientific model. The aim of the study is to characterise the histomorphological changes of dental pulp associated with the decomposition of human remains by a qualitative and quantitative approach. The main aim is to establish a correlation based on post-mortem (PM) dental pulp histomorphology and the PMI, and whether pulp degradation could be an available medico-legal tool for PMI estimation beyond the first week after death (late PMI). The eligible sample consisted of 27 sound teeth from 16 healthy patients aged 16 to 72 years due to orthodontic or oral surgery treatment, to create PMI's simulating the death of the subject as the time elapsed from tooth avulsion. Data collected from patients (sex, date of birth, tooth position, date and hour of the avulsion, date and hour of pulp extraction) were anonymised in accordance with the requirements of Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Lisbon. The sample was divided into 9 groups of 3 teeth according to different PMI sets from T0 (baseline) up to 2 weeks (T0, 7, 12, 24, 36, 48, and 72 hours, 1 and 2 weeks). All the dental samples were stored at room temperature up to the time of pulp extraction and then prepared with haematoxylin and eosin stain. High-resolution microscopy was performed to obtain histological images. An operator performed the qualitative evaluation of blood vessels, collagen fibres, and the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) in PM pulps and measured the variation in cells/nuclei density by counting 6 different ROIs (Regions of Interest) for each pulp manually and automatically (quantitative analysis). Qualitative results showed that the degeneration of dental pulp appears 7 hours after death but histological changes in vessels, fibres, and ECM in PM dental pulp are characterised by high variability, consequently it is not possible to generalise the results for early PMIs. Quantitative measurements proved that cell count cannot be standardised due to the presence of superimposed layers of cells and nuclei fragmentation. Odontoblasts did not demonstrate evidence of cellular or nuclear lysis up to 14 PM suggesting their applicability in late PMIs. Future research will focus on late PMIs and different techniques of tooth preparation.

ABSTRACT

Staphylococcus aureus is characterized by its high resistance to conventional antibiotics, particularly methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains, making it a predominant pathogen in acute and chronic wound infections. The persistence of acute S. aureus wound infections poses a threat by increasing the incidence of their chronicity. This study investigated the potential of photodynamic activation using phytochemical-antibiotic combinations to eliminate S. aureus under conditions representative of acute wound infections, aiming to mitigate the risk of chronicity. The strategy applied takes advantage of the promising antibacterial and photosensitising properties of phytochemicals, and their ability to act as antibiotic adjuvants. The antibacterial activity of selected phytochemicals (berberine, curcumin, farnesol, gallic acid, and quercetin; 6.25-1000 µg/mL) and antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, tetracycline, fusidic acid, oxacillin, gentamicin, mupirocin, methicillin, and tobramycin; 0.0625-1024 µg/mL) was screened individually and in combination against two S. aureus clinical strains (methicillin-resistant and -susceptible-MRSA and MSSA). The photodynamic activity of the phytochemicals was assessed using a light-emitting diode (LED) system with blue (420 nm) or UV-A (365 nm) variants, at 30 mW/cm2 (light doses of 9, 18, 27 J/cm2) and 5.5 mW/cm2 (light doses of 1.5, 3.3 and 5.0 J/cm2), respectively. Notably, all phytochemicals restored antibiotic activity, with 9 and 13 combinations exhibiting potentiating effects on MSSA and MRSA, respectively. Photodynamic activation with blue light (420 nm) resulted in an 8- to 80-fold reduction in the bactericidal concentration of berberine against MSSA and MRSA, while curcumin caused 80-fold reduction for both strains at the light dose of 18 J/cm2. Berberine and curcumin-antibiotic combinations when subjected to photodynamic activation (420 nm light, 10 min, 18 J/cm2) reduced S. aureus culturability by ≈9 log CFU/mL. These combinations lowered the bactericidal concentration of antibiotics, achieving a 2048-fold reduction for gentamicin and 512-fold reduction for tobramycin. Overall, the dual approach involving antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation and selected phytochemical-antibiotic combinations demonstrated a synergistic effect, drastically reducing the culturability of S. aureus and restoring the activity of gentamicin and tobramycin.

INTRODUCTION: Age Estimation has been considered as a human basic right, carried out through the use of tables for dental age assessment based on the chronology of tooth eruption. As such, the final aim of this investigation is to create tables with applicability to the Portuguese population, for the different scoring systems used and combined different statistical approaches. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For this purpose, dental age assessment was achieved in all four third molars, using different scoring systems, in a total sample of 626 orthopantomograms (324 females, 302 males), aged between 12 and 25 years old, from the database population of Lisbon North University Hospital Center, approved by the Ethic Committee. RESULTS: The values of validation showed excellent results both on precision and on reproducibility. Mostly all methods showed statistically significant differences between the estimated age and the chronological age and, therefore, the presence of estimation errors. Kullman's and Mincer's methods are the ones with best applicability in the Portuguese population, in the lower third molars. The reliability measures (sensitivity, specificity and accuracy) values decrease as age increases. CONCLUSION: A combination of the scoring systems as a protocol for dental age assessment in Portuguese nationality was established. Tables, for all the scoring systems used, were made with applicability in the Portuguese population.

Objective: The increasing significance of medicolegal evaluation following maxillofacial traumatic events constitutes a complex issue. This clinical research aimed to assess the current etiology of oral and maxillofacial injuries in Portuguese population. Material and methods: An epidemiological clinical observational study was conducted in Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte on a sample of 384 subjects diagnosed with oral and maxillofacial trauma, between 2018 and 2020. Data were collected through clinical reports and analyzed using SPSS version 27. Results: Women and men were nearly identical in the number and distribution, with 49.5% females and 50.5% males. In 2020, there was a decrease in the number of traumatic incidents compared to other years. Falls or accidental descents were found to be the most common cause of injury, accounting for 44.3%, followed by assaults accounting for 24.7%. A total of 84 subjects exhibited soft tissue injuries related to periodontal region. The upper central incisors (174) were the most frequently affected teeth with uncomplicated fractures, and the predominant form of treatment was the administration of pain medication. Conclusion: A correlation between falls or accidental descents, female subjects, and advancing age, as well as between assaults, male subjects, and adults, has been established. Falls or accidental descents and assault were the predominant etiologies, and the year 2020 exhibited a decrease in the incidents of traumatic events.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the methods from the past and present, such as Demirjian, Cameriere, and AlQahtani, as well as to determine the most reliable method for human age estimation under the request from the courts according to the effect size from each method in age estimation. DESIGN: Four hundred eighty-three orthopantomographic images were selected from 318 patients from Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte aged between 6 and 15 years old. Several measurements of widths and lengths and classification of tooth development stages were performed, according to each age estimation method. The listing of patients and orthopantomographic images were consulted through SECTRA®. All data was entered and analysed using SPSS version 28. Observations' validity was verified through inter- and intraobserver validation. RESULTS: The correlation coefficients between age and age estimates by the three methods on both sides were close to 90%. Regarding the estimation error correlation coefficient, Demirjian and AlQahtani values were low, whereas Cameriere's was significantly negative; i.e., underestimation increases as age increases. Between left and right, any significant difference in age estimation in AlQahtani and Cameriere methods was not observed, but there were great variability and large effect for the Demirjian method. Comparing females and males, the statistical analysis showed no significant differences and quite small effects in the precision of the estimates for any of the methods. Finally, although significant differences were detected when comparing estimated values and age, small effects were revealed except for the Demirjian method which attained a medium effect and, therefore, less consistency of estimation. CONCLUSIONS: Since it was not possible to determine the most reliable method for age estimation, a combined application of different age estimation methodologies is recommended to be use in the courts with relevant statistical data such as effect size.

ABSTRACT

Rice is an important source of γ-oryzanol (GO) and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which are bioactive compounds that may benefit blood lipid and pressure control. Both GO and GABA can be improved by germination and fermentation. Fermentation with A. oryzae produces Koji, a rice-based starter for Amazake, a naturally sweet beverage. Germinated rice (brown and milled rice), were tested to improve those bioactive compounds during the fermentation process. The resulting Koji was optimised to GO and GABA through a response surface methodology; α-amylase activity and starch content were also assessed. The different rice matrix resulting from the germination largely impacted the biosynthesis of GABA, α-amylase and starch contents. Amazake, obtained by germinated rice, has increased GO and GABA contents when compared to the one obtained from milled rice (from a non-detectable value to 27.65 ± 0.23 mg/100 g for GO and from 163.95 ± 24.7 to 271.53 ± 5.7 mg/100 g for GABA). A panel of 136 Portuguese consumers tasted the beverage in a blind overall tasting test followed by an informed test, using 9-point scales. The consumer scores had a mean value of 4.67 ± 1.9 and 4.9 ± 1.8, meaning that cultural differences may play an important role with regard to liking and accepting Amazake.

BACKGROUND: The early introduction of palliative care can have a positive impact on the quality of life of patients suffering from life-limiting diseases. However, the palliative care needs of older, frail, housebound patients are still mostly unknown, as is the impact of frailty on the importance of these needs. OBJECTIVES: To identify the palliative care needs of frail, older, housebound patients in the community. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional observational study. This study took place in a single primary care center and included patients who were ≥65 years old, housebound, followed by the Geriatric Community Unit of the Geneva University Hospitals. RESULTS: Seventy-one patients completed the study. Most patients were female (56.9%), and mean age (SD) was 81.1 (±7.9). The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale mean (SD) score was higher in frail patients as opposed to vulnerable patients for tiredness (p = 0.016), drowsiness (p = 0.0196), loss of appetite (p = 0.0124), and impaired feeling of well-being (p = 0.0132). There was no difference in spiritual well-being, measured by the spiritual scale subgroup of the Functional Assessment of the Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-Being scale (FACIT-sp) between frail and vulnerable participants, although scores in both groups were low. Caregivers were mainly spouses (45%) and daughters (27.5%) with a mean (SD) age of 70.7 (±13.6). The overall carer-burden measured by the Mini-Zarit was low. SIGNIFICANCE OF RESULTS: Older, frail, housebound patients have specific needs that differ from non-frail patients and should guide future palliative care provision. How and when palliative care should be provided to this population remains to be determined.

ABSTRACT

The present investigation comprises the characterization of skeletal remains recovered from the 2004 archaeological excavations carried out in the Cloister's Southwest Wing of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, attributed to the 1755 earthquake. Among the remains, many teeth were found. Our goal is to use dental morphological characteristics to assess the geographic ancestry of the combined sample using the methods of biodistance and web-based application of the Arizona State University Dental Anthropology System 2. The crown and root traits of the ASUDAS were scored in a sample of 1068 disarticulated teeth, 65 skulls, 138 adult and 42 sub-adult jaws. Eight characteristics of 34 specimens (7 skulls and 27 jaws) were analyzed using rASUDAS2. Results demonstrate that 73.5% of this sample can be assigned to Western Eurasian ancestry, with the remaining 26.5% divided between Sub-Saharan Africa, non-Arctic and Arctic America, and East Asia. Euclidean and Bray-Curtis distance measures were used to put this Portuguese sample in a world context. From both distance matrixes, cluster analyses were used to generate dendrograms. Based on Bray-Curtis values, Portugal is closest to Western Europe, followed by India and Eastern Europe. For the tree based on Euclidean distances, India is the first to join Portugal, followed by Eastern and Western Europe. Therefore, on both an individual and group level, the Portuguese sample is most closely tied to Western Eurasia. However, there may be other ancestries in the sample, such as Sub-Saharan Africa, due to non-European migrants in Portugal along with the African slave trade to Brazil that reached its peak in 18th century Lisbon.

Rice is a significant staple food in the basic diet of the global population that is considered to have a high glycaemic index. The study of the physical and chemical parameters in rice that are related to the starch digestion process, which allows us to quickly predict the glycaemic index of varieties, is a major challenge, particularly in the classification and selection process. In this context, and with the goal of establishing a relationship between physicochemical properties and starch digestibility rates, thus shedding light on the connections between quality indicators and their glycaemic impact, we evaluated various commercial rice types based on their basic chemical composition, physicochemical properties, cooking parameters, and the correlations with digestibility rates. The resistant starch, the gelatinization temperature and the retrogradation (setback) emerge as potent predictors of rice starch digestibility and estimated glycaemic index, exhibiting robust correlations of r = -0.90, r = -0.90, and r = -0.70 (p ≤ 0.05), respectively. Among the rice types, Long B and Basmati stand out with the lowest estimated glycaemic index values (68.44 and 68.10), elevated levels of resistant starch, gelatinization temperature, and setback values. Furthermore, the Long B showcases the highest amylose, while the Basmati with intermediate, revealing intriguingly strong grain integrity during cooking, setting it apart from other rice varieties.

Introduction: Over the last decade, the criminal justice system among the European countries deals with a new group of people, the undocumented people. In the criminal field, most of the suspected claimed to be under the minor legal age according to the type of crime. The government of each European country is committed to protecting the children and vulnerable people. There are serious safety concerns since adults falsely claim to be minors and legal systems oppose to such claims. In this study, we have used different age assessment methods and some of them without accuracy. Objective: To meet the general considerations we developed a study using the current dental age assessment methods. Hence, for the Portuguese population, this study aims to validate the European regression formula between the ages of 6 and 15 years of age; to estimate the cut-off point for the age of 12 years, and to compare the quantitative approach of European regression formula with Demirjian's qualitative approach for age estimation. Material and Methods: 483 orthopantomograms were analysed using the European formula and Demirjian scoring stages. A new method, Model 2, was designed to better suit the Portuguese population. Results: The European formula: average age underestimation of 4.88 for the third quadrant and 4.04 months for the fourth quadrant; and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 10.93 and 10.68 months respectively. Demirjian method: average overestimation of 8.70 months, MAE of 12.85 months. In Model 2: MAE of 9.37 months for the third quadrant, and 9.28 months for the fourth quadrant. Both European formula and Demirjian method had an area under ROC curves results above 0.93. Discrepancy of sensitivity between methods for the specific cut-off point: 11.48. The results obtained in this study can be extrapolated to 87.33% of the Portuguese population. Conclusions: The European regression formula can be applied for the Portuguese population, and seems to be more accurate than Demirjian's methodology in this population. Nevertheless, both European regression formula and Demirjian method present similarly suitable results in the classification of 12 years of age, although there is a noticeable discrepancy favouring the European regression formula. The European Formula when applied for criminal age assessment, independently of population, is mandatory to indicate to the judicial institutions, the sensitivity of the results.

To evaluate the risk of fall and prescribe preventive interventions may be a challenging task. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this study are to summarize the most relevant information on the topic "falls in the elderly" and to give a critical view and practical clinical approach on this topic. METHODS: In March 2022, a search of Pubmed database was performed, using the terms "fall elderly", fall prevention", "fall risk", with the following parameters: five years, review, systematic review, meta-analysis, practice guidelines. RESULTS: There are several risk factors for falls that can be grouped in different areas (psychosocial, demographic, medical, medication, behavioral, environmental). The clinical evaluation of an older adult prone to falls must include identification of risk factors through history and examination and identification of risk of falls through an assessment tool such as gait velocity, functional reach test, timed up and go, Berg balance test, and miniBEST test. Fall prevention strategies can be single or multiple, and physical activity is the most cited. Technology can be used to detect and prevent falls. CONCLUSION: A systematic approach to the older patient in risk of falls is feasible and may impact fall prevention.

ABSTRACT

The establishment of self-disinfecting surfaces is an important method to avoid surface contamination. Recently, paints with antimicrobial properties have been developed to be applied on different surfaces, avoiding contamination with pathogens. In this work, self-disinfecting paints containing Chloroxylenol (CLX), Terpineol (TRP), and a mixture of both substances were developed. The goal was to evaluate and validate these paints using international standards for eventual commercialization and application in scenarios where surface contamination represents a problem. The paints were challenged with five different bacteria, Gram-positive and Gram-negative, before and after a scrub resistance test, where the long-term efficacy of the paints was evaluated. The antibacterial activity assessment was performed following ISO 22196 and JIS Z2801. In general, the paints showed very promising results, demonstrating their antibacterial activity, before and after scrub resistance test. The paint incorporating the mixture of CLX and TRP (CLX+TRP) stood out by revealing consistent results of antibacterial activity both before and after the scrub resistance test for most of the tested bacteria. The cytotoxicity of the developed paints was assessed in vitro by performing tests by direct contact with a human skin cell line, HaCaT, and testes on extracts with HaCaT and a pulmonary cell line, A549. The methodologies for cytotoxicity assessment were developed based in ISO 10993. For genotoxicity assessment, alkaline comet assay was conducted on both cell lines. The cytotoxicity assessment revealed promising results with the paints, demonstrating values of cellular viability above 70% and values of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage below 30%. The genotoxic assessment also revealed acceptable values of primary DNA damage for the developed antibacterial paints. In general, the selected methodologies presented good potential to be applied in the validation of both efficacy and safety of the antimicrobial paints, aiming to be applied in real scenarios.

RESUMO Antecedentes: As quedas são um grande problema de saúde pública, uma vez que são uma importante causa de morbidade e mortalidade. A avaliação do risco de queda e a prescrição de intervenções preventivas podem ser tarefas desafiadoras. Objetivo: Estudo visa sintetizar as informações mais relevantes sobre o tema "quedas em idosos" e apresentar uma visão crítica e uma abordagem da prática clínica neste tema. Métodos: Em março de 2022, foi feita uma revisão bibliográfica no Pubmed, utilizando-se os termos "fall elder", fall prevention", "fall risk", com os seguintes parâmetros s: 5 anos, revisão, revisão sistemática, meta-análise, diretrizes práticas. Resultados: Há inúmeros fatores de risco para quedas que podem ser agrupados em diferentes domínios (psicossocial, demográfico, condições clínicas, uso de medicamentos, comportamental, ambiental). A avaliação clínica de um idoso propenso a queda deve incluir a identificação de fatores de risco por meio da história e exame físico e identificação do risco de queda por meio de um instrumento de avaliação como velocidade da marcha, teste de alcance funcional, timed up and go, teste de equilíbrio de Berg, escala miniBEST. As estratégias de prevenção de quedas podem ser únicas ou múltiplas, sendo a atividade física a mais citada. Tecnologias podem ser usadas para detectar e prevenir quedas. Conclusão: Uma abordagem sistemática ao paciente idoso em risco de queda é possível, deve ser realizada e pode impactar na prevenção de quedas.

ABSTRACT

Rice bran oil (RBO) is a valuable ingredient extracted from rice bran (RB), a side stream of polishing rice grain in the milling process. RBO is rich in bioactive ingredients with potential health benefits, such as gamma-oryzanol (GO) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Despite its benefits, the quality of RBO depends on the degree of stabilisation of the RB, which is easily affected by lipase enzymes, and thus needs an effective treatment prior to RBO production. To assess the potential of the microwave-assisted method for RB stabilisation and RBO extraction, three Carolino rice varieties (Ariete, Teti, Luna) were tested. The effect of RB stabilisation was evaluated via acid value, water absorption, and GO and GABA levels. The RBO yield was optimised by solvent, temperature, and solvent-to-sample ratio, and the GO and fatty acid levels were determined. The RB stabilisation for the Luna variety did not affect the GO and GABA; for the Ariete and Teti varieties, the GO decreased by 34.4% and 24.2%, and the GABA increased by 26.5% and 47.0%, respectively. The GO levels in RBO samples were not affected by RB stabilisation. The RBO nutritional value was confirmed by the suitable ratio (>2) between polyunsaturated (PUFA) and saturated fatty acids (SFA), with the Teti variety presenting the highest ratio.

Surfaces with antimicrobial properties are gaining notoriety as an efficient method to avoid surface contamination. Self-disinfecting paints are a promising strategy towards cleaner indoor environments by preventing the colonization of walls with microorganisms. However, its widespread use needs an appropriate toxicological safety evaluation due to the potential for biological disturbance associated to its biocidal activity. In this work, the cyto- and genotoxic assessment of two self-disinfecting paints containing the antimicrobial substances triclosan (TCS) and isoborneol (ISB) is performed. HaCaT and A549 cell lines models were selected for the in vitro assessment. To evaluate the cytotoxicity, tests by direct contact and on extracts obtained from leaching were performed following ISO 10993, whereas the genotoxicity was assessed by comet assay and cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) assay. The results showed low levels of cyto- and genotoxicity under the models and conditions tested, indicating that these substances have commercial potential.

ABSTRACT

Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae are the most common House Dust Mite (HDM) species in home environments worldwide and responsible for HDM allergy. Since the prevalence of HDM-related clinical conditions is linked to exposure to the mite itself, the detection of HDM in the human households gains importance. We aimed to develop a fast and accessible multiplex PCR to detect and distinguish two relevant HDM species in house dust. New primers were designed, and sensitivity analysis was performed. Sequencing of PCR products was also performed to confirm the method's specificity. The limit of detection of the multiplex PCR for both species was as low as 30 pg µL-1. The application of the multiplex PCR to dust samples also resulted in the identification of both species with high sensitivity. The protocol required small amount of template, reagents and a short reaction time thus presenting an alternative to classically used techniques for HDM identification.

ABSTRACT

The risk of infection arising from indirect sources-namely, contaminated surfaces-has been proved, particularly in healthcare facilities. In the attempt to minimize this problem, innumerable research projects involving the development of surfaces with self-disinfecting properties are being conducted. In this work, wall-paints with self-disinfecting properties were developed with the scope of being applied in environments prone to contamination, such as those at healthcare settings. Our approach was to develop new paint formulations containing two natural plant-based products with known antimicrobial activity-colophony (CLF) and curcumin (CUR). The natural substances were separately incorporated on a commercial paint and their antibacterial activity was evaluated with several bacterial species following ISO 22196. To assess the paints' safety, cytotoxicity tests were performed on HaCaT and A549 cell lines, using tests on extracts and direct contact tests, as suggested by the standardized protocol ISO 10993. In general, both paints containing CLF and CUR were able to reduce the bacterial growth after 24 h, compared with the control, the commercial unmodified paint. Colophony was even able to reduce the number of culturable bacteria by over 2 log for Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus cereus. Regarding the cytotoxicity tests performed (WST-1, NRU, and LDH), both formulations revealed promising results regardless of the methodology used.

The number of patients requiring admission in intensive care units and prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) has increased significantly during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) following prolonged invasive MV is a rare condition. Numerous COVID-19 pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment-related effects might support the increase of tracheal complications in this subgroup of patients. We report a case of TEF in a COVID-19 patient submitted to prolonged invasive MV and discuss its diagnosis and management.

ABSTRACT

Rice is one of the most cultivated and consumed cereals worldwide. It is composed of starch, which is an important source of diet energy, hypoallergenic proteins, and other bioactive compounds with known nutritional functionalities. Noteworthy is that the rice bran (outer layer of rice grains), a side-stream product of the rice milling process, has a higher content of bioactive compounds than white rice (polished rice grains). Bran functional ingredients such as γ-oryzanol, phytic acid, ferulic acid, γ-aminobutyric acid, tocopherols, and tocotrienols (vitamin E) have been linked to several health benefits. In this study, we reviewed the effects of rice glycemic index, macronutrients, and bioactive compounds on the pathological mechanisms associated with diabetes, identifying the rice compounds potentially exerting protective activities towards disease control. The effects of starch, proteins, and bran bioactive compounds for diabetic control were reviewed and provide important insights about the nutritional quality of rice-based foods.

Environmental surface contamination with microorganisms is a serious concern worldwide. Triclosan and isoborneol present good antimicrobial activity. Their immobilisation to paint substrates allows for development of a material that stays effective over a longer time. In this work, we disclosed the preliminary studies to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the active molecule after being functionalised with isocyanates for further immobilisation on the paint substrate. Overall, the newly developed non-release antimicrobial coating provides an effective way of preventing the spread of diseases and has been proven to inhibit bacterial growth and with a considerable antimicrobial activity towards S. aureus, E. coli, and K. variicola at the tested concentrations.
