ABSTRACT

Herein, we describe an innovative approach to the asymmetric electrochemical α-alkylation of aldehydes facilitated by a newly designed bifunctional chiral electrocatalyst. The highly efficient bifunctional chiral electrocatalyst combines a chiral aminocatalyst with a redox mediator. It plays a dual role as a redox mediator for electrooxidation, while simultaneously providing remarkable asymmetric induction for the stereoselective α-alkylation of aldehydes. Additionally, this novel catalyst exhibits enhanced catalytic activity and excellent stereoselective control comparable to conventional catalytic systems. As a result, this strategy provides a new avenue for versatile asymmetric electrochemistry. The electrooxidation of diverse phenols enables the C-H/C-H oxidative α-alkylation of aldehydes in a highly chemo- and stereoselective fashion. Detailed mechanistic studies by control experiments and cyclic voltammetry analysis demonstrate possible reaction pathways and the origin of enantio-induction.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) has a variety of neurotrophic effects, including neurogenesis, remyelination and synaptogenesis, and is an effective regulator of neuronal plasticity. Although multiple studies have investigated IGF-1 in depression-related disorders, few studies have focused on patients with a first episode of clearly diagnosed depression who had never used antidepressants before. Therefore, this study investigated first-episode and drug-naïve patients with depression to supplement the current evidence around IGF-1 levels in depressive disorders. Patients and methods: This study consisted of two parts. In the first part, 60 patients with first-episode and drug-naïve depression and 60 controls matched for age, sex, and BMI were recruited from the outpatient department of the Fourth Hospital of Wuhu City, and the community. The case-control method was used to compare differences in serum IGF-1 levels between the two groups. In the second part, 13 case-control studies were screened through the database for meta-analysis to verify the reliability of the results. Results: Results of the case-control study demonstrated that serum IGF-1 levels are significantly higher in patients with first-episode and drug-naïve depression compared to healthy controls (p<0.05), although there was no significant difference between men and women with diagnosed MDD, there was no significant correlation between serum IGF-1 level and age in patients with depression and no significant correlation between IGF-1 level and the severity of depression. The meta-analysis corroborates these findings and demonstrated that IGF-1 levels are significantly higher in MDD patients than in healthy controls. Conclusion: Patients with first-episode and drug-naïve depression have higher IGF-1 levels, but the exclusion of confounding factors in studies of IGF-1 as it relates to depressive disorders must be taken into consideration strictly, and additional research is needed to fully understand the critical role of IGF-1 in depression. ABSTRACT

Eleven alkaloids including four previously undescribed oxoisoaporphine alkaloids, menisoxoisoaporphines A-D (1-4), four known analogues (5-8), and three aporphine alkaloids (9-11), were isolated and identified from the rhizomes of Menispermum dauricum. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Among them, compounds 1 and 4 were the first samples of oxoisoaporphine with C-6 isopentylamino moiety, and 2 was a rare C-4 methylation product of oxoisoaporphine alkaloid. The in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of compounds 1-11 was performed by evaluating the inhibition of NO level in LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophages. Among them, compound 4 exhibited the most potent NO inhibition activity with an IC50 value of 1.95 ± 0.33 µM. The key structure-activity relationships of those oxoisoaporphine alkaloids for anti-inflammatory effects have been summarized.

ABSTRACT

Hybrid crops often exhibit increased yield and greater resilience, yet the genomic mechanism(s) underlying hybrid vigor or heterosis remain unclear, hindering our ability to predict the expression of phenotypic traits in hybrid breeding. Here, we generated haplotype-resolved T2T genome assemblies of two pear hybrid varieties 'Yuluxiangli' (YLX) and 'Hongxiangsu' (HXS) that share the same maternal parent, but differ in their paternal parents. We then used these assemblies to explore genome-scale landscape of allele-specific expression and create a pangenome graph for pear. Allele specific expression (ASE) was observed for close to 6000 genes in both hybrid cultivars. A subset of ASEGs related to fruit quality including sugar, organic acid and cuticular wax were identified, suggesting their important contributions to heterosis. Specifically, Ma1, a gene regulating fruit acidity, was absent in the paternal haplotypes of HXS and YLX. Further, a pangenome graph was built based on our assemblies and eight published pear genomes. Resequencing data for 139 cultivated pear genotypes (including 97 genotypes sequenced here) were subsequently aligned to the pangenome graph, revealing numerous SV hotspots and selective sweeps during pear diversification. As predicted, the Ma1 allele was found to be absent in varieties with low organic acid content, an association that was functionally validated by Ma1 over-expression in pear fruit and calli. Overall, the results unraveled contributions of allele-specific expression to heterosis involving fruit quality and provided a robust pangenome reference for high resolution allele discovery and association mapping.

ABSTRACT

In the context of using aircraft as a pivotal tool for detecting radioactive hotspots, the acquisition of radioactivity data was conducted through a CeBr3 scintillation crystal detector mounted on a helicopter. However, challenges arose, including managing extensive data volumes, computationally demanding tasks, and susceptibility to local optima issues. To address these challenges and leverage the benefits of the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA) in global optimization and convergence speed, an improved SSA was devised. This improved version integrated SSA principles with the intricacies of searching for radioactive hotspots. The algorithm employed a matrix segmentation method to process data matrices derived from measured data, aiming to enhance efficiency and accuracy. An empirical analysis was conducted, performing 100 iterations on an experimental matrix to scrutinize the impact of matrix segmentation. Computation times and results were compared across different segmentation levels, confirming the favorable algorithmic outcomes of the method. The practical viability and convergence stability of the algorithm were further assessed using genuine measured data, with segmented matrices generated for evaluation. Remarkably, a comparison between computational outcomes and manually identified data reaffirmed the algorithm's reliability in effectively detecting radioactive hotspots.

Oral reading fluency (ORF) assessments are commonly used to screen at-risk readers and evaluate interventions' effectiveness as curriculum-based measurements. Similar to the standard practice in item response theory (IRT), calibrated passage parameter estimates are currently used as if they were population values in model-based ORF scoring. However, calibration errors that are unaccounted for may bias ORF score estimates and, in particular, lead to underestimated standard errors (SEs) of ORF scores. Therefore, we consider an approach that incorporates the calibration errors in latent variable scores. We further derive the SEs of ORF scores based on the delta method to incorporate the calibration uncertainty. We conduct a simulation study to evaluate the recovery of point estimates and SEs of latent variable scores and ORF scores in various simulated conditions. Results suggest that ignoring calibration errors leads to underestimated latent variable score SEs and ORF score SEs, especially when the calibration sample is small.

ABSTRACT

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most prevalent histological type of lung cancer. Previous studies have reported that specific long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in cancer development and progression. The phenotype and mechanism of ENST00000440028, named MSL3P1, a lncRNA which we referring to a cancer-testis gene with potential roles in tumorigenesis and progression, have not been reported. We found that MSL3P1 is overexpressed in LUAD tumor tissues, which is significantly associated with clinical characteristics, metastasis, and poor clinical prognosis. MSL3P1 promotes the metastasis of LUAD in vitro and in vivo. The enhancer reprogramming in LUAD tumor tissue is the major driver of the aberrantly expression of MSL3P1. Mechanistically, due to the competitive binding to CUL3 mRNA with ZFC3H1 protein (a protein involved in targeting polyadenylated RNA to exosomes and promoting the degradation of target mRNA), MSL3P1 can prevent the ZFC3H1-mediated RNA degradation of CUL3 mRNA and transport it to the cytoplasm. This activates the downstream epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition signaling pathway, and promote tumor invasion and metastasis. Implications: This study indicates that lncRNA MSL3P1 regulates CUL3 mRNA stability and promotes the metastasis and holds potential as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in LUAD.

ABSTRACT

Phosphor-in-glass represents a promising avenue for merging the luminous efficiency of high-quality phosphor and the thermal stability of a glass matrix. Undoubtedly, the glass matrix system and its preparation are pivotal factors in achieving high stability and preserving the original performance of embedded phosphor particles. In contrast to the well-established commercial Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ oxide phosphor, red nitride phosphor, which plays a critical role in high-quality lighting, exhibits greater structural instability during the high-temperature synthesis of inorganic glasses. A telluride glass with a refractive index (RI = 2.15@615 nm) akin to that of nitride phosphor (∼2.19) has been devised, demonstrating high efficiency in photon utilization. The lower glass-transition temperature plays a crucial role in safeguarding phosphor particles against erosion resulting from exposure to high-temperature melts. Phosphor-in-glass retains 93% of the quantum efficiency observed for pure phosphor. The assembled white light-emitting diodes module has precise color tuning capabilities, achieving an optimal color rendering index of 93.7, a luminous efficacy of 80.4 lm/W, and a correlated color temperature of 5850 K. These outcomes hold potential for advancing the realm of inorganic package and high-quality white light illumination.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To explore the experiences, expectations and needs of mothers from low-socioeconomic status at 1 month postpartum. DESIGN: Descriptive qualitative. METHODS: Mothers from low-socioeconomic status and irrespective of their parity were invited to participate in one-to-one interviews at 1 month postpartum. Semi-structured interviews were conducted until data saturation. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed thematically. Written informed consent was obtained. RESULTS: Twenty mothers participated and six themes were identified: (1) No choice but to find meaning; (2) Father as a major pillar of support; (3) 'Kampung' Spirit; (4) Trials and Tribulations of Transition to Motherhood; (5) Shame, guilt and internalized stigma and (6) Reclaiming the power. CONCLUSION: This study reflected the unique struggles of mothers from low-socioeconomic status with pregnancy, childbirth and early postpartum and the wider health inequities within Singapore's maternal health system. To provide much-needed support and improved care, the stakeholders within government, healthcare providers and social organizations should consider the niche needs of this community. IMPLICATIONS FOR PATIENT CARE: Nurses need to reflect on their own biases and ensure consistent care delivery regardless of socioeconomic status. When delivering patient education, patient-centred and sincere advice rooted in personal experience can help to establish rapport. IMPACT: This study is the first to explore the experiences of mothers from low-socioeconomic status in the Singapore context. Low-socioeconomic status mothers experienced less autonomy over their health, the care they received and their childcare options. As mothers adjusted to their new roles, they struggled to cope. However, as they were wary of the stigma surrounding poverty and their guilt of not being a 'good mother', they preferred to seek informal support from their family, friends and self-help through learning from social media, as compared to formal, external help. BACKGROUND: LACS (long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase) genes are widespread in organisms and have multiple functions in plants, especially in lipid metabolism. However, the origin and evolutionary dynamics of the LACS gene family remain largely unknown. RESULTS: Here, we identified 1785 LACS genes in the genomes of 166 diverse plant species and identified the clades (I, II, III, IV, V, VI) of six clades for the LACS gene family of green plants through phylogenetic analysis. Based on the evolutionary history of plant lineages, we found differences in the origins of different clades, with Clade IV originating from chlorophytes and representing the origin of LACS genes in green plants. The structural characteristics of different clades indicate that clade IV is relatively independent, while the relationships between clades (I, II, III) and clades (V, VI) are closer. Dispersed duplication (DSD) and transposed duplication (TRD) are the main forces driving the evolution of plant LACS genes. Network clustering analysis further grouped all LACS genes into six main clusters, with genes within each cluster showing significant co-linearity. Ka/Ks results suggest that LACS family genes underwent purifying selection during evolution. We analyzed the phylogenetic relationships and characteristics of six clades of the LACS gene family to explain the origin, evolutionary history, and phylogenetic relationships of different clades and proposed a hypothetical evolutionary model for the LACS family of genes in plants. CONCLUSIONS: Our research provides genome-wide insights into the evolutionary history of the LACS gene family in green plants. These insights lay an important foundation for comprehensive functional characterization in future research.

The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is renowned for its high zinc content, but the significant variation among individuals diminishes its value as a reliable source of zinc supplementation. The Zrt/Irt-like protein 1 (ZIP1), a pivotal zinc transporter that facilitates zinc uptake in various organisms, plays crucial roles in regulating zinc content. In the present study, polymorphisms of a ZIP1 gene in C. gigas (CgZIP1-II) were investigated, and their association with zinc content was evaluated through preliminary association analysis in 41 oysters and verification analysis in another 200 oysters. A total of 17 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified in the exonic region of CgZIP1-II gene, with c.503A>G significantly associated with zinc content. Protein sequence and structure prediction showed that c.503A>G caused a p.Met110Val nonsynonymous mutation located in the metal-binding region of CgZIP1-II, which could influence its affinity for zinc ions, thereby modulating its zinc transport functionality. These results indicate the potential influence of CgZIP1-II polymorphisms on zinc content and provide candidate markers for selecting C. gigas with high zinc content.

ABSTRACT

The extracellular superoxide dismutases (ecSODs) secreted by Microplitis bicoloratus reduce the reactive oxygen species (ROS) stimulated by the Microplitis bicoloratus bracovirus. Here, we demonstrate that the bacterial transferase hexapeptide (hexapep) motif and bacterial-immunoglobulin-like (BIg-like) domain of ecSODs bind to the cell membrane and transiently open hemichannels, facilitating ROS reductions. RNAi-mediated ecSOD silencing in vivo elevated ROS in host hemocytes, impairing parasitoid larva development. In vitro, the ecSOD-monopolymer needed to be membrane bound to open hemichannels. Furthermore, the hexapep motif in the beta-sandwich of ecSOD49 and ecSOD58, and BIg-like domain in the signal peptides of ecSOD67 were required for cell membrane binding. Hexapep motif and BIg-like domain deletions induced ecSODs loss of adhesion and ROS reduction failure. The hexapep motif and BIg-like domain mediated ecSOD binding via upregulating innexins and stabilizing the opened hemichannels. Our findings reveal a mechanism through which ecSOD reduces ROS, which may aid in developing anti-redox therapy.

The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is rich in taurine, which is crucial for its adaptation to the fluctuating intertidal environment and presents significant potential in improving taurine nutrition and boosting immunity in humans. Cysteine dioxygenase (CDO) is a key enzyme involved in the initial step of taurine biosynthesis and plays a crucial role in regulating taurine content in the body. In the present study, polymorphisms of CDO gene in C. gigas (CgCDO) and their association with taurine content were evaluated in 198 individuals. A total of 24 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci were identified in the exonic region of CgCDO gene by direct sequencing. Among these SNPs, c.279G>A and c.287C>A were found to be significantly associated with taurine content, with the GG and AA genotype at the two loci exhibiting enhanced taurine accumulation (p < 0.05). Haplotype analysis revealed that the 279GG/287AA haplotype had the highest taurine content of 29.24 mg/g, while the 279AA/287CC haplotype showed the lowest taurine content of 21.19 mg/g. These results indicated that the SNPs of CgCDO gene could influence the taurine content in C. gigas and have potential applications in the selective breeding of high-taurine varieties.

ABSTRACT

Accurate state-of-charge (SOC) estimation is the core index of battery management system (BMS). When the battery equivalent circuit model (ECM) identifies the parameters under complex operating conditions, there is more jitter or even divergence, which will affect the estimation accuracy of battery SOC. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new algorithm, namely the cross time scale fusion (CTSF) algorithm. Firstly, the cross-time scales Δt1 and Δt2 are determined, the number of cross-time cycles is calculated according to the total amount of complex operating condition data N. Then the ECM parameters are identified in Δt1 by using forgetting factor recursive least square (FFRLS), and the battery SOC is estimated in Δt2 based on the identified parameters, finally the battery parameters are identified and the SOC is estimated by cycling in the cross-time. The experimental results show that, no matter at the same temperature in different conditions or at different temperatures in the same condition, The proposed algorithm not only effectively solves the ECM parameter identification jitter problem, but also improves the accuracy of SOC estimation, the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) minimum of SOC result is 1.42% for different operating conditions at the same temperature and 0.25% for different temperatures at the same operating conditions, respectively.

ABSTRACT

Despite great progress in the active interfacing between various abiotic materials and living organisms, the development of a smart polymer matrix with modulated functionality of algae towards the application of green bioenergy is still rare. Herein, we design a thermally sensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-co-poly(butyl acrylate) with an LCST (ca. 25 °C) as a chassis, which could co-assemble with algal cells based on hydrophobic interaction to generate a new type of robust hybrid hydrogel living material. By modulating the temperature to 30 °C, the volume of the polymer matrix is shrunk by 9 times, which allows the formation of physical shading and metabolism changing of the algae, and then triggers the functionality switching of the algae from photosynthetic oxygen production to hydrogen production. By contrast, by decreasing the temperature to 20 °C, the hybrid living materials go into a sol state where the algae behave normally with photosynthetic oxygen production. In particular, due to the proliferation of the algae in living materials, a long-term and exponential enhancement in the amount of hydrogen produced is achieved. Overall, it is anticipated that our investigations could provide a new paradigm for the development of polymer/living organism-based hybrid living materials with synergistic functionality boosting green biomanufacturing.

This study aimed to determine associations between modifiable dementia risk factors (MDRF), across domains mood symptomatology, lifestyle behaviors, cardiovascular conditions, cognitive/social engagement, sleep disorders/symptomatology, with cognition, beta-amyloid (Aß) and tau, and brain volume. Middle-aged/older adults (n=82) enrolled in a sub-study of the Healthy Brain Project completed self-report questionnaires and a neuropsychological battery. Cerebrospinal fluid levels of Aß 1-42, total tau (t-tau), and phosphorylated tau (p-tau181) (Roche Elecsys), and MRI markers of hippocampal volume and total brain volume were obtained. Participants were classified as no/single domain risk (≤1 domains) or multidomain risk (≥2 domains). Compared to the no/single domain risk group, the multidomain risk group performed worse on the Preclinical Alzheimer's Cognitive Composite (d=0.63, p=.005), and Executive Function (d=0.50, p=.016), and had increased p-tau181 (d=0.47, p=.042) and t-tau (d=0.54, p=.021). In middle-aged/older adults, multidomain MDRFs were related to increases in tau and worse cognition, but not Aß or brain volume. Findings suggest that increases in AD biomarkers are apparent in midlife, particularly for individuals with greater burden, or variety of MDRFs.

OBJECTIVE: Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is associated with a low survival rate. Evidence suggests that bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and their receptors (BMPRs) play crucial roles in tumorigenesis and progression. However, a comprehensive analysis of their role in LUSC is lacking. Our study aimed to explore the relationship between BMPs/BMPRs expression levels and the tumorigenesis and prognosis of LUSC. METHODS: The "R/Limma" package was utilized to analyze the differential expression characteristics of BMPs/BMPRs in LUSC, using data from TCGA, GTEx, and GEO databases. Concurrently, the "survminer" packages were employed to investigate their prognostic value and correlation with clinical features in LUSC. The core gene associated with LUSC progression was further explored through weighted gene correlation network analysis (WGCNA). LASSO analysis was conducted to construct a prognostic risk model for LUSC. Clinical specimens were examined by immunohistochemical analysis to confirm the diagnostic value in LUSC. Furthermore, based on the tumor immune estimation resource database and tumor-immune system interaction database, the role of the core gene in the tumor microenvironment of LUSC was explored. RESULTS: GDF10 had a significant correlation only with the pathological T stage of LUSC, and the protein expression level of GDF10 decreased with the tumorigenesis of LUSC. A prognostic risk model was constructed with GDF10 as the core gene and 5 hub genes (HRASLS, HIST1H2BH, FLRT3, CHEK2, and ALPL) for LUSC. GDF10 showed a significant positive correlation with immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint expression. CONCLUSION: GDF10 might serve as a diagnostic biomarker reflecting the tumorigenesis of LUSC and regulating the tumor immune microenvironment to guide more effective treatment for LUSC.

BACKGROUND: To explore the early curative effect of unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) in the treatment of multi-level lumbar spinal stenosis with the help of multiple small incisions. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 26 patients with multi-level lumbar spinal stenosis treated by UBE in our hospital from August 1, 2021, to March 1, 2022. We collect patients' basic medical records and independently design surgical incisions. The visual analog score (VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were compared before surgery, 7 days after surgery and 6 months after surgery. Spinal canal diameters on CT were compared before surgery and 7 days after surgery. The modified MacNab standard was used to evaluate the efficacy satisfaction at 6 months after operation. RESULTS: In this study, 26 patients were operated according to the predetermined surgical plan. The operative time was 145 ± 40.11 min, the intraoperative blood loss was 156.25 ± 44.32 ml, and the postoperative hospital stay was 4.79 ± 1.31 days. The VAS scores of postoperative lumbago and leg pain were lower than those before surgery (P < 0.05). The postoperative ODI score was significantly different from that before surgery (P < 0.05). The postoperative CT sagittal diameter was significantly different from that before surgery (P < 0.05). The curative effect of modified MacNab was 76.92% when followed up 7 days after surgery. The curative effect of modified MacNab was 92.31% when followed up 6 months after surgery, which was significantly improved compared with 7 days after surgery. CONCLUSION: Under multiple small incision channels, UBE can effectively treat multi-level lumbar spinal stenosis, significantly relieve the clinical symptoms of patients, and significantly improve the quality of life of patients. It is a safe and feasible minimally invasive surgical treatment method for multi-level lumbar spinal stenosis.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) is the most common cause of indicated preterm delivery, but the impact of prenatal steroid exposure on the outcomes of preterm infants born to HDP mothers, who may be at risk for intrauterine hypoxia-ischemia, remains uncertain. The study objective is to evaluate the mortality and morbidities in HDP for very preterm infants (VPIs) exposed to different course of ANS. METHODS: This is a prospective cohort study comprising infants with < 32 weeks gestation born to women with HDP only from 1 Jan. 2019 to 31 Dec. 2021 within 40 participating neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in Sino-northern network. ANS courses included completed, partial, repeated, and no ANS. Univariate and multivariable analyses were performed on administration of ANS and short-term outcomes before discharge. RESULTS: Among 1917 VPIs born to women with HDP only, 987(51.4%) received a complete course of ANS within 48 h to 7 days before birth, 560(29.2%) received partial ANS within 24 h before delivery, 100(5.2%) received repeat ANS and 270 (14.1%) did not receive any ANS. Compared to infants who received complete ANS, infants unexposed to ANS was associated with higher odds of death (AOR 1.85; 95%CI 1.10, 3.14), Severe Neurological Injury (SNI) or death (AOR 1.68; 95%CI 1.29,3.80) and NEC or death (AOR 1.78; 95%CI 1.55, 2.89), the repeated ANS group exhibits a significant negative correlation with the duration of oxygen therapy days (correlation coefficient - 18.3; 95%CI-39.2, -2.1). However, there were no significant differences observed between the full course and partial course groups in terms of outcomes. We can draw similar conclusions in the non-SGA group, while the differences are not significant in the SGA group. From KM curve, it showed that the repeated group had the highest survival rate, but the statistical analysis did not indicate a significant difference. CONCLUSIONS: Even partial courses of ANS administered within 24 h before delivery proved to be protective against death and other morbidities. The differences mentioned above are more pronounced in the non-SGA group. Repeat courses demonstrate a trend toward protection, but this still needs to be confirmed by larger samples.

ABSTRACT

Putrescine plays a role in superficial scald development during the cold storage of pear fruit. However, the molecular mechanism behind this phenomenon has not been un-fully clarified until recently. In this study, a conjoint analysis of metabolites and gene expression profiles in the putrescine-metabolic pathway of P. bretschneideri Rehd. fruit followed by experimental validation revealed that PbrADC1, forming a homodimer in the chloroplast, was involved in putrescine biosynthesis and thus fruit chilling resistance. Additionally, the substrate-binding residue Cys546 in PbrADC1, whose activity was modified by H2O2, played a crucial role in arginine decarboxylation into agmatine. Through a combined analysis of the distribution of cis-acting elements in the PbrADC1 promoter as well as the expression profiles of related transcription factors (TFs), several TFs were identified as upstream regulators of PbrADC1 gene. Further investigation revealed that the nuclear PbrWRKY62 could directly bind to the W-box elements in the PbrADC1 promoter, activate its expression, enhance putrescine accumulation, and thus increase fruit chilling tolerance. In conclusion, our results suggest that the PbrWRKY62-PbrADC1 module is involved in the development of superficial scald in P. bretschneideri Rehd. fruit via regulating putrescine biosynthesis. Consequently, these findings could serve as valuable genetic resources for breeding scald-resistant pear fruit.
