ABSTRACT
Sustainable and reciprocal partnerships in pharmacy education and practice exist between schools and colleges of pharmacy in the United States and Caribbean countries and territories. This paper discusses the cultural considerations for such partnerships to flourish. First, general information on Caribbean countries and territories is covered. Next, the paper transitions into how to ensure culturally sensitive engagements when traveling to or hosting visitors from the Caribbean. This paper is intended to assist practitioners with integrating culturally sensitive considerations into the development of partnerships in this region.

Objective. To compare the quality indicators of public and private pharmacy schools in Brazil. Method. Descriptive data regarding undergraduate pharmacy schools recorded as of April 2016 was obtained from the website of Brazil's Ministry of Education. The quality indicators analyzed included scores on the National Student Performance Examination, preliminary classification of the school, and final classification of the school. The schools were graded on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being excellent. Results. Four hundred sixty-seven Brazilian pharmacy schools were analyzed. The number of schools and class sizes has been increasing since 1832. The number of private pharmacy schools has increased since 1996, with the majority located in non-capital cities. The results showed an isomorphic characteristic of the quality indicators and a central tendency of the scores (score of 3), which are indicators of satisfactory quality. Most public institutions received a score of excellent. Conclusion. The analysis found an increase in the number of pharmacy schools in the private sector in Brazil and that the quality of public institutions was better than that of private institutions. Qualitative research should be carried out to complement the quantitative findings reported here.

Historicamente a formação de recursos humanos em saúde ocorre obedecendo a normas de mercado, especialmente à organização das práticas médicos-sanitárias, sendo que a tendência econômica (expansão ou recessão) reflete diretamente na criação ou corte de empregos, bem como na organização dos serviços e na política de saúde. Esta praticada num determinado momento histórico pode definir ou influenciar o modelo pedagógico que será predominante nas instituições de ensino, assim como o perfil da formação dos recursos humanos em saúde.

Propone formular un modelo de integración docente asistencial de la facultad de Ciencias Químicas Escuela de Farmacia en el Municipio Docente Asistencial de León, que permita modificaciones curriculares para el fortalecimiento del desarrollo de la Escuela de los Servicios Farmacéuticos e industrias Farmacéuticas para beneficio de una mejor formación de los egresados de la carrera. Explica los esfuerzos que se han hecho respecto a la reorganización de los servicios de salud, durante los años 85-87. Se realizó un análisis de situación de los años 1985-90 y de 1991 de la Escuela de Farmacia, siendo evidente la falta de una integración docente asistencial. Explica los objetivos específicos del modelo de integración docente asistencial, el cual es desarrollar el marco metodólogico de la integración docente asistencial, definir la estructura organizativa y funcional que permitan la integración docente asistencial en el Municipio Docente Asistencial (M.D.A.) y la comunidad. Propone medidas que garanticen el funcionamiento efectivo y eficaz de las actividades docentes asistenciales de la Escuela de Farmacia, establece los mecanismos de evaluación y Monitoreo del modelo de Integración Docente Asistencial (I.D.A.)
