RESUMO

Hexagonal boron nitride (BN), a well-known member of 2D materials, has a structure similar to graphene and is often referred to as white graphene. Despite its unique physical and chemical properties for energy storage applications, there have been very few studies on how BN stores anion carriers. Herein, the hybrid architecture and anion storage mechanism of BN nanosheets for high-performance hybrid energy storage full cells based on dual-ion and Zinc (Zn) alkaline systems is demonstrated. The chemical bonding between BN and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is attributed to the formation of the heterointerface, which facilitates the charge transfer kinetics during an OH storing process. Based on the reversible surface redox reaction of BN and rGO hybrid (BN@rGO) confirmed by computational and spectroscopic analyses, the BN@rGO electrode is applied to both Na and OH dual-ion and Zn alkaline full cells. In the dual-ion system, Ti3C2‖BN@rGO full cells extended the operating voltage range up to 1.7 V, delivering a cell capacity of 49.4 mAh g-1 at 1000 mA g-1 and retaining 80% of its initial capacity after 40 000 cycles. In the Zn alkaline system, Zn‖BN@rGO full cells achieved a cell capacity of 58.1 mAh g-1 at 1000 mA g-1 and retained 80% capacity over 90 000 cycles.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the impact of back-to-front corneal radius ratio (B/F ratio) and posterior keratometry (PK) on the accuracy of intraocular lens power calculation formulas in eyes after myopic laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK)/photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery. METHODS: A retrospective, consecutive case series study included 101 patients (132 eyes) with cataract after myopic LASIK/PRK. Mean prediction error (PE), mean absolute PE (MAE), median absolute error (MedAE), and the percentage of eyes within ±0.25, ±0.50, and ±1.00 diopters (D) of PE were determined. RESULTS: The Barrett True K-TK formula exhibited the lowest MAE (0.59 D) and MedAE (0.48 D) and the highest percentage of eyes within ±0.50 D of PE (54.55%) in total. In eyes with a B/F ratio of 0.70 or less and PK of -5.70 D or greater, the Potvin-Hill formula displayed the lowest MAE (0.46 to 0.67 D). CONCLUSIONS: The Barrett True-TK exhibited the highest prediction accuracy in eyes after myopic LASIK/PRK overall. However, for eyes with a low B/F ratio and flat PK, the Potvin-Hill performed best. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The incidence of comorbid depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms is higher in snakebite victims. However, the present state and contributing factors of depression and PTSD among Chinese snakebite victims remain unclear. METHODS: A representative sample of 6837 snakebite victims were assessed with the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (Civilian Version) and The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. Multivariate analyses, including network analysis, evaluated the contributing factors of PTSD and depression symptoms caused by snake bites, as well as the bridge symptoms of comorbidity networks. RESULTS: Among 6,837 snakebite victims, 79.5% reported PTSD symptoms and 81.4% reported depression symptoms. Comorbidity of PTSD and depression symptoms was found in 75.1%. Key factors included the presence sequelae after snakebite (ORPTSD = 2.31, ORDepression = 1.89), time to medical facilities (6-8 h: ORPTSD = 3.17, ORDepression = 2.46), and marital status (divorced/widowed: ORPTSD = 1.78, ORDepression = 1.76). Symptoms I1 ("Repeated disturbing memories") and D1 ("Bothered by things that don't usually bother me") bridged PTSD and depression networks. CONCLUSION: The primary psychological challenges for snakebite victims in China are PTSD and depression symptoms, which is concerning. Standardized diagnosis and treatments, timely medical care, and stable marital relationships can reduce risks. Additional psychological support and management of negative memories, especially for those with severe bridge symptoms, can be beneficial. Further research should concentrate on understanding victims' psychological states and developing effective interventions.

RESUMO

Parabens are common contaminants in river and lake environments. However, few studies have been conducted to determine the effects of parabens on bacteria, phytoplankton, and zooplankton communities in aquatic environments. In this study, the effect of methylparaben (MP) on the diversity and community structure of the aquatic plankton microbiome was investigated by incubating a microcosm with MP at 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 µg/L for 7 days. The results of the Simpson index showed that MP treatment altered the α-diversity of free-living bacteria (FL), phytoplankton, and zooplankton but had no significant effect on the α-diversity of particle-attached bacteria (PA). Further, the relative abundances of the sensitive bacteria Chitinophaga and Vibrionimonas declined after MP addition. Moreover, the relative abundances of Desmodesmus sp. HSJ717 and Scenedesmus armatus, of the phylum Chlorophyta, were significantly lower in the MP treatment group than in the control group. In addition, the relative abundance of Stoeckeria sp. SSMS0806, of the Dinophyta phylum, was higher than that in the control group. MP addition also increased the relative abundance of Arthropoda but decreased the relative abundance of Rotifera and Ciliophora. The ß-diversity analysis showed that FL and phytoplankton communities were clustered separately after treatment with different MP concentrations. MP addition changed community assembly mechanisms in the microcosm, including increasing the stochastic processes for FL and the deterministic processes for PA and phytoplankton. Structural equation modeling analysis showed a significant negative relationship between bacteria richness and phytoplankton richness, and a significant positive relationship between phytoplankton (richness and community composition) and zooplankton. Overall, this study emphasizes that MP, at environmental concentrations, can change the diversity and structure of plankton microbial communities, which might have a negative effect on ecological systems.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: For medical artificial intelligence (AI) training and validation, human expert labels are considered the gold standard that represents the correct answers or desired outputs for a given data set. These labels serve as a reference or benchmark against which the model's predictions are compared. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the accuracy of a custom deep learning (DL) algorithm on classifying diabetic retinopathy (DR) and further demonstrate how label errors may contribute to this assessment in a nationwide DR-screening program. METHODS: Fundus photographs from the Lifeline Express, a nationwide DR-screening program, were analyzed to identify the presence of referable DR using both (1) manual grading by National Health Service England-certificated graders and (2) a DL-based DR-screening algorithm with validated good lab performance. To assess the accuracy of labels, a random sample of images with disagreement between the DL algorithm and the labels was adjudicated by ophthalmologists who were masked to the previous grading results. The error rates of labels in this sample were then used to correct the number of negative and positive cases in the entire data set, serving as postcorrection labels. The DL algorithm's performance was evaluated against both pre- and postcorrection labels. RESULTS: The analysis included 736,083 images from 237,824 participants. The DL algorithm exhibited a gap between the real-world performance and the lab-reported performance in this nationwide data set, with a sensitivity increase of 12.5% (from 79.6% to 92.5%, P<.001) and a specificity increase of 6.9% (from 91.6% to 98.5%, P<.001). In the random sample, 63.6% (560/880) of negative images and 5.2% (140/2710) of positive images were misclassified in the precorrection human labels. High myopia was the primary reason for misclassifying non-DR images as referable DR images, while laser spots were predominantly responsible for misclassified referable cases. The estimated label error rate for the entire data set was 1.2%. The label correction was estimated to bring about a 12.5% enhancement in the estimated sensitivity of the DL algorithm (P<.001). CONCLUSIONS: Label errors based on human image grading, although in a small percentage, can significantly affect the performance evaluation of DL algorithms in real-world DR screening.

RESUMO

Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs) are short-term residential facilities that provide care to people experiencing mental health crises, seeking to reduce reliance on local emergency departments and avoid unnecessary jail detention. Despite these intentions, there is little foundational literature to support research on CSU efficacy and a dearth of research on the sociodemographic characteristics and specific needs of CSU patients. Here, we recruited and surveyed 208 participants admitted to one of two focal Arkansas CSUs on their sociodemographic characteristics, justice-involvement, mental health, substance use, and health care utilization. Results revealed that participants were mostly unemployed (68.16%), low-income (72.34%), and experiencing insecure housing (33.33%). They reported extensive justice-involvement (85.57%), high rates of clinically significant mental illness symptom severity (77.00% for anxious symptoms; 78.33% for depressive symptoms; 79.40% for traumatic stress symptoms), and recent substance use (73.34%). Recent engagement with other medical services was common, though more participants reported visiting an emergency department (42.23%) than did receiving outpatient medical care (26.73%). While research on CSU patient outcomes is needed, our results indicate that CSUs have the potential to be an essential part of the health care continuum by serving a population with multiple, intersecting needs and addressing a deficit in community-based crisis care. Continued investigation of community-based crisis intervention services is critical to bridging the gap between vital behavioral health resources and the populations in need of them. RESUMO

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify potential drug targets for myopia and explore underlying mechanisms. Methods: Mendelian randomization (MR) was implemented to assess the effect of 2684 pharmacologically targetable genes in the blood and retina on the risk of myopia from a genomewide association study (GWAS) for age-at-onset of spectacle wearing-inferred mean spherical equivalent (MSE; discovery cohort, N = 287,448, European), which was further validated in a GWAS for autorefraction-measured MSE (replication cohort, N = 95,619, European). The reliability of the identified significant potential targets was strengthened by colocalization analysis. Additionally, enrichment analysis, protein-protein interaction network, and molecular docking were performed to explore the functional roles and the druggability of these targets. Results: This systematic drug target identification has unveiled 6 putative genetically causal targets for myopia-CD34, CD55, Wnt3, LCAT, BTN3A1, and TSSK6-each backed by colocalization evidence in adult blood eQTL datasets. Functional analysis found that dopaminergic neuron differentiation, cell adhesion, Wnt signaling pathway, and plasma lipoprotein-associated pathways may be involved in myopia pathogenesis. Finally, drug prediction and molecular docking corroborated the pharmacological value of these targets with LCAT demonstrating the strongest binding affinity. Conclusions: Our study not only opens new avenues for the development of therapeutic interventions for myopia but may also help to understand the underlying mechanisms of myopia.

RESUMO

Diabetic macular edema (DME) has emerged as the foremost cause of vision loss in the population with diabetes. Early detection of DME is paramount, yet the prevailing screening, relying on two-dimensional and labor-intensive fundus photography (FP), results in frequent unwarranted referrals and overlooked diagnoses. Self-imaging optical coherence tomography (SI-OCT), offering fully automated, three-dimensional macular imaging, holds the potential to enhance DR screening. We conducted an observational study within a cohort of 1822 participants with diabetes, who received comprehensive assessments, including visual acuity testing, FP, and SI-OCT examinations. We compared the performance of three screening strategies: the conventional FP-based strategy, a combination strategy of FP and SI-OCT, and a simulated combination strategy of FP and manual SD-OCT. Additionally, we undertook a cost-effectiveness analysis utilizing Markov models to evaluate the costs and benefits of the three strategies for referable DR. We found that the FP + SI-OCT strategy demonstrated superior sensitivity (87.69% vs 61.53%) and specificity (98.29% vs 92.47%) in detecting DME when compared to the FP-based strategy. Importantly, the FP + SI-OCT strategy outperformed the FP-based strategy, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of $8016 per quality-adjusted life year (QALY), while the FP + SD-OCT strategy was less cost-effective, with an ICER of $45,754/QALY. Our results were robust to extensive sensitivity analyses, with the FP + SI-OCT strategy standing as the dominant choice in 69.36% of simulations conducted at the current willingness-to-pay threshold. In summary, incorporating SI-OCT into FP-based screening offers substantial enhancements in sensitivity, specificity for detecting DME, and most notably, cost-effectiveness for DR screening.

RESUMO

As the healthcare community increasingly harnesses the power of generative artificial intelligence (AI), critical issues of security, privacy and regulation take centre stage. In this paper, we explore the security and privacy risks of generative AI from model-level and data-level perspectives. Moreover, we elucidate the potential consequences and case studies within the domain of ophthalmology. Model-level risks include knowledge leakage from the model and model safety under AI-specific attacks, while data-level risks involve unauthorised data collection and data accuracy concerns. Within the healthcare context, these risks can bear severe consequences, encompassing potential breaches of sensitive information, violating privacy rights and threats to patient safety. This paper not only highlights these challenges but also elucidates governance-driven solutions that adhere to AI and healthcare regulations. We advocate for preparedness against potential threats, call for transparency enhancements and underscore the necessity of clinical validation before real-world implementation. The objective of security and privacy improvement in generative AI warrants emphasising the role of ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers, and the timely introduction of comprehensive regulations.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: People in treatment for alcohol use disorders (AUDs) can negatively impact their Concerned Others (COs). This longitudinal study examined patient and CO characteristics associated with CO outcomes. METHOD: Participants were 279 dyads of patients entering residential treatment and their CO. Outcomes were COs' mental health and quality of life. The study collected patient and CO predictors and CO outcomes at baseline and 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-ups as part of a randomized controlled trial. In the first set of models, the analytic approach identified baseline patient predictors associated with COs' outcomes measured at baseline and follow-ups. In the second set of models, we examined whether those effects remained after adding baseline CO characteristics. RESULTS: In the first set of models, COs of older age and whose patient reported less CO-patient relationship stress had better mental health. Also, married COs and those with higher income and whose patient reported no violence in the CO-patient relationship had better quality of life. In the second set of models, COs whose patient entered treatment due to criminal justice involvement, with more social support, less reported stigma, and less use of avoidance coping had better mental health. Also, married COs, those with higher income, and less reported discrimination stigma had better quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: Understanding patient and CO characteristics that are associated with COs' outcomes may inform AUD treatment programs' efforts to help COs. Identifying modifiable determinants of CO outcomes is important to clinical practice regardless of whether the patient chooses to obtain treatment.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the vulnerability factors of snakebite patients in China. METHODS: Multi-stage random sampling was used as the main sampling method and snowball sampling as the auxiliary sampling method. The knowledge, attitude and behavior of snakebite among Chinese residents were investigated. Non-parametric test was used to compare the percentage differences in residents' knowledge, attitude and behavior of snakebite, and generalized linear regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors, and the vulnerability factors of snakebite patients were comprehensively analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 6338 subjects were included in this study, of which 68.4% were males, and 58.6% were farmers, workers and service personnel. The median total score of knowledge, attitude, and behavior was 26 (22,36). The patients who were improperly treated after injury were ligation proximal to the affected area (23.43%), squeezing (21.82%), and oral and suction wounds (8.74%). Did not go to hospital due to poverty (1351 cases) and did not receive antivenom (2068 cases). There were 21.32% and 32.63%, respectively. Among 4270 patients injected with antivenom 30.7% were vaccinated within 2 h. Among the patients who went to the hospital for treatment (4987), 75.0% arrived at the hospital within 6 h; Among the 4,761 patients who made emergency calls, 37.4% were treated within 0.5 h. CONCLUSIONS: Snakebite patients in China have weak knowledge about snakebite, low awareness of medical treatment, lack of correct prevention and emergency treatment measures, dependence on folk remedies, poor housing and so on. In addition, there are low availability of antivenoms and unreasonable distribution of medical resources in some areas of China. Multisectoral and multidisciplinary cooperation should be developed to prevent and control snakebites in order to reduce the burden caused by snakebites.

RESUMO

The tailor-made transition metal alloy-based heterojunctions hold a promising prospect for the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, a series of iron-cobalt bimetallic alloy heterojunctions are purposely designed and constructed via a newly developed controllable phase separation engineering strategy. The results show that the phase separation process and alloy component distribution rely on the metal molar ratio (Fe/Co), indicative of the metal content dependent behavior. Theoretical calculations demonstrate that the electronic structure and charge distribution of iron-cobalt bimetallic alloy can be modulated and optimized, thus leading to the formation of an electron-rich interface layer, which likely tunes the d-band center and reduces the adsorption energy barrier toward electrocatalytic intermediates. As a result, the Fe0.25Co0.75/Co heterojunction exhibits superior OER activity with a low overpotential of 185 mV at 10 mA cm-2. Moreover, it can reach industrial-level current densities and excellent durability in high-temperature and high-concentration electrolyte (30 wt % KOH), exhibiting enormous potential for industrial applications.

RESUMO

Background: This study aimed to investigate attitudes towards health education on snakebites and to identify the influencing factors among Chinese residents. Additionally, we proposed effective health education strategies for snakebite management. Methods: Between May 2022 and February 2023, we conducted a nationwide cross-sectional questionnaire survey using a multistage sampling method with supplementary snowball sampling. We used descriptive analysis, χ2 tests, and univariable and multivariable binary logistic regression models to analyse the data. Results: We included 56 669 respondents in the analysis. The average score for snakebite knowledge was 12.13 ± 5.26 points, with a maximum score of 28. Among the respondents, 72.66 and 63.03% of the residents believed that it was necessary to disseminate knowledge about snakebites and expressed a willingness to receive snakebite training, respectively. Respondents from the northeast region, respondents with a higher education level, and respondents with higher scores for snakebite knowledge, health knowledge, health skills, and social-psychological adjustment skills exhibited more positive attitudes towards snakebite knowledge dissemination and training. Conversely, respondents from eastern or southern China, respondents older than 60, and respondents who lived in rudimentary housing conditions showed a lower perception of the need for snakebite knowledge dissemination and were less willing to participate in snakebite knowledge and skill training. Conclusions: Generally, Chinese residents have positive attitudes towards snakebite knowledge dissemination and training. However, the public lacks sufficient knowledge about snakebites. Therefore, we should pay close attention to areas south of the Yangtze River to strengthen snakebite health education using engaging formats that align with residents' interests, such as short videos or television programmes, in an attempt to and ultimately improve health literacy and prevention awareness.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated skin condition. Although biologic treatments are effective in controlling psoriasis, some patients do not respond or lose response to these therapies. Thus, new strategies for psoriasis treatment are still urgently needed. Double-negative T cells (DNT) play a significant immunoregulatory role in autoimmune diseases. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the protective effect of DNT in psoriasis and explore the underlying mechanism. METHODS: We conducted a single adoptive transfer of DNT into an imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis mouse model through tail vein injection. The skin inflammation and IL-17A producing γδ T cells were evaluated. RESULTS: DNT administration significantly reduced the inflammatory response in mouse skin, characterized by decreased skin folds, scales, and red patches. After DNT treatment, the secretion of IL-17A by RORc+ γδlow T cells in the skin was selectively suppressed, resulting in an amelioration of skin inflammation. Transcriptomic data suggested heightened expression of NKG2D ligands in γδlow T cells within the mouse model of psoriasis induced by IMQ. When blocking the NKG2D ligand and NKG2D (expressed by DNT) interaction, the cytotoxic efficacy of DNT against RORc+IL17A+ γδlow T cells was attenuated. Using Ccr5-/- DNT for treatment yielded evidence that DNT migrates into inflamed skin tissue and fails to protect IMQ-induced skin lesions. CONCLUSIONS: DNT could migrate to inflamed skin tissue through CCR5, selectively inhibit IL-17-producing γδlow T cells and finally ameliorate mouse psoriasis. Our study provides feasibility for using immune cell therapy for the prevention and treatment of psoriasis in the clinic.

RESUMO

Objective: To assess knowledge and practices related to snakebite prevention among Chinese residents. Methods: By using a multistage random sampling approach augmented by snowball sampling, we surveyed residents from 10 provinces, one municipality and one autonomous region south of the Yangtze River Basin between May 2022 and February 2023. We supplemented the data with a national online survey. We used a χ2-test to identify differences in knowledge and behaviour across various demographic characteristics. We conducted multifactor logistic regression analyses to evaluate factors potentially influencing snakebite knowledge and practices. Findings: We obtained 55 775 valid survey responses, 16 200 respondents from the face-to-face survey and 39 575 respondents from the online survey. Only 25.7% (14 325) respondents demonstrated adequate knowledge about snakebites whereas 25.6% (14 295) respondents knew basic first-aid practices or preventive behaviours. Age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation, type of residence and frequency of exposure to nature are significant independent variables affecting snakebite knowledge (P-values: < 0.05). On the other hand, gender, age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation and type of residence were significant independent variables affecting the behaviour of snakebite prevention and first aid (P-values: < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a notable shortfall in knowledge, first aid and preventive behaviours among Chinese residents regarding snakebites. Misguided first aid practices can severely compromise the effectiveness of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Consequently, improving health education concerning snakes and snakebites in this population is needed.

RESUMO

AIMS: To document longitudinal changes in spherical equivalent refraction (SER) and related biometric factors during early refractive development. METHODS: This was a prospective cohort study of Chinese children, starting in 2018 with annual follow-ups. At each visit, children received cycloplegic autorefraction and ocular biometry measurements. Lens power (LP) was calculated using Bennett's formula. Children were divided into eight groups based on baseline age: the 3-year-old (n=426, 49.77% girls), 4-year-old (n=834, 47.36% girls), 6-year-old (n=292, 46.58% girls), 7-year-old (n=964, 43.46% girls), 9-year-old (n=981, 46.18% girls), 10-year-old (n=1181, 46.32% girls), 12-year-old (n=504, 49.01%) and 13-year-old (n=644, 42.70%) age groups. RESULTS: This study included right-eye data from 5826 children. The 3-year-old and 4-year-old age groups demonstrated an inflection point in longitudinal SER changes at a mild hyperopic baseline SER (+1 to +2 D), with children with more myopic SER showing hyperopic refractive shifts while those with more hyperopic SER showing myopic shifts. The hyperopic shift in SER was mainly attributed to rapid LP loss and was rarely seen in the older age groups. Axial elongation accelerated in the premyopia stage, accompanied by a partially counter-balancing acceleration of LP loss. For children aged 3-7 years, those with annual SER changes <0.25 D were all mildly hyperopic at baseline (mean: 1.23 D, 95% CI 1.20 to 1.27 D). CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that during early refractive development, refractions cluster around or above +1.00 D. There is a pushback process in which increases in the rate of LP occur in parallel with increases in axial elongation.

RESUMO

AIMS: The aim of this study was to enhance the effectiveness of an integrated treatment model for patients with severe multiple injuries in China. METHODS: In this study, we conducted a retrospective analysis of data from 110 patients with multiple severe injuries. These patients were divided into two groups based on the treatment model they received. The first group, called the MDTM group, received the integrated treatment model, which involved a multidisciplinary team-based approach. The second group, designated the TSM group, received the traditional specialist-based treatment model. The primary outcome measure was the survival rate of patients after treatment. Secondary outcomes included the time spent on hospital emergency treatment, the length of hospital stay, the mortality rate, and family satisfaction. RESULTS: The survival rate of patients after treatment in the MDTM group (83.93%) was significantly greater than that in the TSM group (70.37%). Consequently, the mortality of patients after treatment in the MDTM group (16.07%) was significantly lower than that in the TSM group (29.63%). Furthermore, the MDTM group demonstrated significantly shorter durations of rescue efforts and shorter hospital stays. Additionally, family satisfaction was significantly greater in the MDTM group. CONCLUSION: The integrated treatment model shows potential for optimizing outcomes for patients with multiple severe injuries and generating higher levels of family satisfaction. This model holds practical applicability in the context of China and may help alleviate the strained relationship between physicians and patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To develop and assess the usability of a smartphone-based visual acuity (VA) test with an automatic distance calibration (ADC) function, the iOS version of WHOeyes. METHODS: The WHOeyes was an upgraded version with a distinct feature of ADC of an existing validated VA testing app called V@home. Three groups of Chinese participants with different ages (≤20, 20-40, >40 years) were recruited for distance and near VA testing using both an Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) chart and the WHOeyes. The ADC function would determine the testing distance. Infrared rangefinder was used to determine the testing distance for the ETDRS, and actual testing distance for the WHOeyes. A questionnaire-based interview was administered to assess the satisfaction. RESULTS: The actual testing distance determined by the WHOeyes ADC showed an overall good agreement with the desired testing distance in all three age groups (p>0.50). Regarding the distance and near VA testing, the accuracy of WHOeyes was equivalent to ETDRS. The mean difference between the WHOeyes and ETDRS ranged from -0.084 to 0.012 logMAR, and the quadratic weighted kappa (QWK) values were >0.75 across all groups. The test-retest reliability of WHOeyes was high for both near and distance VA, with a mean difference ranging from -0.040 to 0.004 logMAR and QWK all >0.85. The questionnaire revealed an excellent user experience and acceptance of WHOeyes. CONCLUSIONS: WHOeyes could provide accurate measurement of the testing distance as well as the distance and near VA when compared to the gold standard ETDRS chart.
