[Orientation of university students to sources of information on rational nutrition].

In organization of sanitary education of students on issues of balanced diet it is necessary to be guided on positively perceived sources of information and forms of education. According to our data, the university student editions and health education carried out by doctors of policlinics, providing medical services to the students of the University are of most importance.

[Features of feeding behavior of students of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia].

The feeding behavior of students of Peoples Friendship University of Russia from 55 countries (557 persons) was studied by questionary method. Most students (83%) recognized the changes in nutrition after admission to the university. A quarter of students noted the ill health. The adaptation to the new nutrition type of at 12% per a year of study. About third (31%) rated their nutrition as good, 39%--as satisfactory, 20%--unsatisfactory at the moment of research. 80% of students broke a diet. About half of students (51%) regularly miss a breakfast, 34% and 15%--miss a dinner and supper. More than 60% of students eat hot meals not oftener than once a day. Insufficient consumption of fish, eggs and bean by students also was noted in the course of research. Irrationality of the educational schedule and the high prices for foodstuffs are leading causes of breaking of nutrition according to students.

[Prophylactic requirements for sanitary and epidemiological surveillance in dentistry].

The paper outlines the requirements for sanitary-and-epidemiological surveillance to prevent dental diseases. The investigations pose tasks to medical prevention centers to solve the problems in tooth prophylaxis, such as organizational-and-methodological, sanitary-and-educational, health-improving, and others. The sanitary-and-hygienic requirements for therapeutic-and-prophylactic dental facilities are defined. A procedure for keeping a management protocol for the prevention of tooth diseases is described.

Clinical symptoms of acute coronary insufficiency correlate with GP-IIIa genotype of integrin beta-subunit.

Studies of the clinical course of acute coronary insufficiency (progressive angina and myocardial infarction) in patients carrying a mutant allele of the Pl-A(II) gene encoding integrin GPIIIa beta-subunit revealed significant differences in the incidence of some clinical signs in comparison with patients homozygous for the normal Pl-A(I) allele.

Plasmid transfer genetic regulatory system fin N of F-like plasmid pAP27 have been localized on BamHI-restriction fragment f3 (length 8.7 kb). Plasmid pUC19 Fin-activity have been cleared up and characterized from the point of view of its specificity of action on some plasmid transfer functions.

F-like plasmids pAP19-1::Tn9, pAP20::Tn9, pAP22-1::Tn1, pAP27 characterized by the presence of unique genetic plasmid transfer regulatory systems in their genomes have been found. These systems were named fin K, fin L, fin M, finN, consequently. They were characterized from the point of view of specificity of their action on F-factor and F-like conjugative function. Dependence of fin N-system expression on host-cell and on the order of plasmid entering into host-cell was shown.

[Complementation analysis of derepressed mutants of F-like plasmids of Escherichia coli]. / Komplementatsionnyi analiz derepressirovannykh mutantov F-podobnykh plazmid Escherichia coli.

Complementation analysis of a number of conjugative transfer functions was performed in derepressed (drd) mutants of E. coli F-like plasmids. The major part of double plasmid complexes investigated has revealed the formation of complementation transfer inhibitor of Fin V-type, or less frequently--the formation of Fin U-type inhibitor. An additional complementation analysis of drd plasmids defective at Fin V region genes has demonstrated at least three genes (denoted A, B, C) in the structure of this region.

Sensitivity of the genetic transfer system of F-like plasmid pAP42 marked with the transposons Tn1 and TN9 to fertility inhibitors of six reference Fin-groups was studied. It was shown that transfer function and donor-specific piliformation of the plasmid under study were inhibited by reference plasmids of FinU and FinV groups, surface exclusion by plasmids of FinU and FinQ groups. The different influence of the FinOP group plasmid on transfer functions of the marked plasmids pAP42::Tn1 and pAP42::Tn9 that is likely to be connected with the effect of incorporated transposons was determined.

[Contamination of food products with patulin]. / Izuchenie zagriazneniia pishchevykh produktov patulinom.

Based on the method for patulin determination designed by the authors the rate and level of contamination of fruit, vegetables and foods manufactured from them (juices, purees, jams) with this mycotoxin were studied. Patulin was found in 8 out of 160 samples of fruit and vegetables, the highest concentration of patulin was identified in the berries of sea buckthorn (up to 54 000 micrograms/kg). Patulin was found in 28 out of 185 samples of foods manufactured from fruit. The concentration of patulin in juices did not exceed the allowable concentrations on the average. Patulin was largely identified in apple, sea buckthorn and plum juices.

[Improved method of determining the aflatoxin content in different food products of plant origin]. / Usovershenstvovannyi metod opredeleniia soderzhaniia aflatoksinov v razlichnykh pishchevykh produktakh rastitel'nogo proiskhozhdeniia.

The authors offer an improved method for detection, identification and quantitation of aflatoxins, fit for series analyses. The method includes extract purification by means of two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography and quantitative determination of aflatoxin from their specific fluorescence. Combination of the techniques included in the method enables one to separate aflatoxin from interfering substances in extracts of any products of plant origin and excludes the attainment of pseudopositive results. The method was made use of for studying contamination of 145 samples of foods. Aflatoxin B1 was found in some of the samples. The maximal content of the aflatoxin was detected in corn and peanut. Apart from aflatoxin B1, the corn samples were demonstrated to contain aflatoxins B2, G1, and G2.
