[Dynamics of ecological-biochemical characteristics of the sea ice in the coastal zone of the White sea]. / Dinamika ékologo-biokhimicheskikh kharakteristik morskogo l'da v pribrezhnoi zone Belogo moria.

The distribution of salinity, silicon and phosphorus contents, and hydrolytic enzyme activities along a sea-coast transect was studied in melted ice cores and water samples taken from under the ice cover in the periods of active ice formation and melting in the Kandalaksha Bay, White Sea. The species list of identified algae was compiled, which included 170 species and varieties (90% of them belonged to diatoms). Strong correlations were revealed between the salinity of water samples and the content of silicon, protease activity, and the species composition of algae. Preliminary estimations of the rate of photosynthetic processes in individual cells of algae belonging to the mass species of the ice flora are discussed.

Analysis of the postoperative course of 1276 patients has shown that the incidence of nausea and vomiting in the first hours after surgical intervention does not depend on the mode of analgesia. Dyspepsia in the immediate postoperative period occurred in more than 1/3 of the patients after surgery on the bile duct. Addition of metoclopramide or dimetpromide to premedication helped reduce the incidence of postoperative vomiting. An antiemetic drug should be an obligatory component of premedication.

[The effect of the surgical trauma on the postoperative course in duodenal ulcer patients]. / Vliianie operatsionnoi travmy na posleoperatsionnoe techenie u bol'nykh iazvoi dvenadtsatiperstnoi kishki.

The effect of various types of operative interventions on the course of the early postoperative period was studied in 419 patients with duodenal ulcer. The blood biochemical values and hemodynamic parameters were studied. The indications for operation were absolute in 128 and relative in 291 patients. It was established that under conditions of a specialized medical institution the negative aspects of surgical treatment of duodenal ulcer may be brought to minimum both in patients with absolute and in those with relative indications for operation.

Evaluation of metabolism and state of central hemodynamics in 134 patients with duodenal ulcer before the operation and at the early postoperative period was carried out. It was established that pronouncement of postaggressive response of an organism to trauma in surgical treatment of a duodenal ulcer didn't depend on a type of the operation due to use of the modern methods of anesthesia. Therefore, moderate pronouncement of such a response after the organ-preserving operations can't be a criterium for the wide use of surgical treatment of an uncomplicated duodenal ulcer.

[Improving the ambulatory surgical services on the basis of the work experience of the Center of Ambulatory Surgery]. / Sovershenstvovanie ambulatornoi khirurgicheskoi pomoshchi po opytu raboty Tsentra ambulatornoi khirurgii.

Centers of ambulatory surgery made on the basis of large city polyclinics and regional medical formations are considered to be a perspective and economically effective form of perestroika of the ambulatory surgical aid to people. Specificity of the operative procedures performed at the Center and specific features of postoperative management of the patients should be taken into consideration, and the staff of such units must consist of highly trained surgeons of wide type. The ambulatory surgery Center must occupy its place in the system of dispensary examinations of the population.

[Immunologic assessment of preparations of the RS virus at the stages of its purification and concentration]. / Immunologicheskaia otsenka preparatov RS-virusa na étapakh ego ochistki i kontsentratsii.

The work demonstrates the immunogenic potency of some preparations of RS virus, differing in the degree of their purification and introduced by multiple intranasal administration. The immunogenic potency of these preparations was manifested by the synthesis of antibodies determined in the coagglutination test (the specificity of these antibodies was confirmed in the reaction of the neutralization of RS virus), as well as by sensitization determined in the leukocyte migration inhibition test. Immunization with concentrated virus was more effective than immunization with the preparation of virion fraction. The intranasal administration of live RS virus to mice induced the appearance of a morphologically determined disease which was not prevented by the development of immune response accompanying the disease. The conclusion was made that further improvement in the system of testing the preparations of RS virus was necessary.

Two various fractions have been formed on the sephadex G-200 from culture supernatants of the lymph nodes cells isolated in 6h after immunization of animals by various antigens. The first fraction possessed the main biological properties peculiar to the earlier described factor of the immune lymph nodes (FILN), intensified proliferation of cells of the popliteal lymph nodes and increased the killer activity of peritoneal lymphocytes. Introduction of FILN simultaneously with ram erythrocytes led to more than a five-fold increase of humoral immune response.

An analysis of changes in indicators of integral rheography after M. I. Tishchenko in 11 patients has shown that among the symptoms of possible pulmonary oedema are the coefficient of respiratory changes of the stroke volume (more than 2), the index respiration strain (30) and the severity index (more than 3).

[Electroanalgesia after operations on the abdominal organs]. / Elektroanalgeziia posle operatsii na organakh briushnoi polosti.

Electroanalgesia was used in 102 patients operated on the gastro-intestinal tract for postoperative anesthesia. The analgetic effect was obtained in 2/3 of the patients. The indicators of respiration increased and those of blood circulation remained practically the same against the background of electroanalgesia. At the same time the use of non-narcotic analgetics resulted in a reliably decreased minute volume of blood circulation below the normal limits. The authors recommend electroanalgesia in the postoperative period for patients with initial disorders of the cardio-vascular and respiratory systems.

Effect of adherent cells (macrophages on synthesis of total immunoglobulins (Ig) and specific antibody (Ab) in mice spleen cell culture stimulated by Vi-antigen Salmonella typhi has been studied. Ig and Ab in culture medium were determined by ELISA technique 96 hours after introducing the antigen into cell culture. The adsorption of analysed samples and reference antiserum on antigen coated microplates at pH 3.5 results in reducing nonspecific protein adsorption and promotes quantitative analysis Ab synthesized in vitro. The level of Ab produced in antigen stimulated spleen cell culture during 96 hours after antigen introduction is less than 2% of all synthesized Ig. Removal of most macrophages from spleen cell population results in a considerable decrease of specific and polyclonal immune responses. The basal Ig level in spleen cell culture (without antigen influence) does not decrease after removal of macrophages.

The examination of 46 patients with pheochromocytoma has shown all the patients to have cardiac insufficiency before operation. This finding shows the necessity of preoperative preparation of the myocardium. The standard administration of beta-adrenoblocking agents without controlling the parameters of central hemodynamics can cause insufficiency of the minute volume of blood circulation. The authors failed to reveal advantages of any kind of general anesthesia. They consider that all the efforts in the course of anesthesiologic measures should be directed to the correction of hemodynamics.

Methods of dilution of the dye T-1824 and electroplethysmography with the help of an apparatus for integral rheography of the body were used in 31 parallel determinations of the circulating blood volume. It was shown that in patients without pronounced disorders of hemodynamics and water-electrolytic state the second method is not inferior to the so-called "standard" method. The circulating blood volume was determined by the electroplethysmographic method with the N.M. Shestakov formula modified by the authors in patients with noncomplicated calculous cholecystitis. It was shown that the certain rate of the infusion therapy can maintain the preoperative level of volemia in the patients during operation.

[Effect of various cardiac glycosides on central hemodynamics after operations on the abdominal organs]. / Vliianie nekotorykh serdechnykh glikozidov na tsentral'nuiu gemodinamiku posle operatsii na organakh briushnoi polosti.

The authors estimated the influence of corglycon, strophanthin and digoxin on the central hemodynamics indices. Corglycon is recommended for use in urgent situations, while digoxin should be used for prophylactics of cardiac insufficiency.

An analysis of results of continuous peridural anesthesia in 65 patients with inflammatory and traumatic injuries of the pancreas has shown the effectiveness of an analgetic effect and favourable influence of blockade on motor activity of the intestine. The author describes complications, indications and contraindications.

[Clinico-biochemical characteristics of intravenous anesthesia with subnarcotic anesthetic doses]. / Kliniko-biokhimicheskaia kharakteristika vnutrivennoi anestezii subnarkoticheskimi dozami anestetikov.

On the basis of analysis of changes in some indices of homeostasis during the intravenous anesthesia (with ketalar, seduxen, sodium hydroxybutyrate) and fluorane narcosis during operations on the abdominal cavity no substantial difference was established. In the abdominal surgery the intravenous anesthesia with subnarcotic doses of anesthetic drugs is recommended.
