RESUMO

The precise design of an electron transport layer (ETL) to improve the light-harvesting and quality of perovskite (PVK) film plays a crucial role in the photovoltaic performance of n-i-p perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, a novel three-dimensional (3D) round-comb Fe2O3@SnO2 heterostructure composites with high conductivity and electron mobility induced by its Type-II band alignment and matched lattice spacing is prepared and employed as an efficient mesoporous ETL for all-inorganic CsPbBr3 PSCs. Arising from the multiple light scattering sites provided by the 3D round-comb structure, the diffuse reflectance of Fe2O3@SnO2 composites is increased to improve the light absorption of the deposited PVK film. Besides, the mesoporous Fe2O3@SnO2 ETL affords not only more active surface for sufficient exposure to the CsPbBr3 precursor solution but also a wettable surface to reduce the barrier for heterogeneous nucleation, which realizes the regulated growth of a high-quality PVK film with less undesired defect. Hence, both the light-harvesting capability, the photoelectrons transport and extraction are improved, and the charge recombination is restrained, delivering an optimized power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.23 % with a high short-circuit current density of 7.88 mA cm-2 for the c-TiO2/Fe2O3@SnO2 ETL based all-inorganic CsPbBr3 PSCs. Moreover, under lasting erosion at 25 °C and 85 % RH for 30 days and light-soaking (AM 1.5G) for 480 h in air atmosphere, the unencapsulated-device shows superiorly persistent durability.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the association between serum calcium levels and the prevalence of T2D using a cross-sectional study and Mendelian randomization analysis. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study and mendelian randomization analysis was conducted METHODS: Cross-sectional data were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999-2018. Serum calcium levels were divided into three groups (low, medium and high groups) according to the tertiles. Logistic regression was used to estimate the association between serum calcium levels and T2D prevalence. Instrumental variables for serum calcium levels were obtained from the UK Biobank and a two-sample MR analysis was performed to examine the causal relationship between genetically predicted serum calcium levels and the risk of T2D. RESULT: A total of 39,645 participants were available for cross-sectional analysis. After adjusting for covariates, participants in the high serum calcium group had significantly higher odds of T2D (OR=1.18, 95% CI=1.07, 1.30, P=0.001) than those in the moderate group. Restricted cubic spline plots showed a J-shaped curve relationship between serum calcium level and prevalence of T2D. Consistently, Mendelian randomization analysis showed that higher genetically predicted serum calcium levels were causally associated with a higher risk of T2D (OR = 1.16, 95% CI: 1.01,1.33). CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that higher serum calcium levels are causally associated with a higher risk of T2D. Further studies are needed to clarify whether intervening in high serum calcium could reduce the risk of T2D.

RESUMO

The spatialization of anthropogenic carbon emissions is of great significance for achieving the goal of "carbon peaking and neutrality" and promoting the development of carbon trading market. The SVR-ZSSR spatialization model is proposed to solve the problems of "insufficient local feature learning" and "scale dependence of driving factors" existing in the single model, and this model is applied to the study of the spatialization of carbon emissions in China in this paper. The results show that: (1) the simulation results of our proposed model show the distribution characteristics of "high in the East and low in the west"; On the micro-scale, the high carbon emission areas in the simulation results are all concentrated in the built-up land, while the carbon emission in the surrounding areas of the city is significantly lower than that in the center, which is similar to the spatial distribution trend of carbon emission in the existing database. (2) Compared with the results of SVR, the results of our proposed model increase the carbon emission ratio of built-up land in each province by 15.9% on average; Compared with the ODIAC database and SVR model, the carbon emission ratio of built-up land in Gansu Province, Qinghai Province, and other low-carbon emission areas has increased by about 25%.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cancer incidence and mortality rates have been rising in developing countries, especially in Asia. Cancer caregivers face unique challenges which put them at risk for burden, poor quality of life, and burnout. The purpose of this study was to investigate the comprehensive needs and associated factors of cancer caregivers, and explore the correlation with cancer patients. METHODS: In Mainland China, 200 cancer patient-caregiver dyads were chosen and interviewed for a cross-sectional questionnaire survey by convenient sampling method. Cancer caregivers' comprehensive needs were assessed with Comprehensive Needs Assessment Tool in cancer for Caregivers(CNAT-C), including seven domains (health and psychological problems, family and social support, healthcare staffs, information, religious/spiritual support, hospital facilities and services, and practical support). The comprehensive needs assessment tool in cancer for patients (CNAT) was used to assess patients' comprehensive needs. The sociodemographic survey was completed by both cancer patients and caregivers. The mean differences in domain scores for different groups of characteristics were compared by one-way ANOVA or non-parametric analyses, and those factors that had significant differences were selected for the multivariate regression analysis to determine the final influencing factors. The correlation between cancer patients' and caregivers' needs was evaluated by Spearman's correlation analysis. RESULTS: The cancer caregivers' need for healthcare staff (82.60±19.56) was the highest among the seven domains, followed by the need for information (72.17±14.61) and the need for hospital facilities and services (56.44±18.22). The lowest score was the need for religious/spiritual support (28.33±16.05). Caregivers who were younger, highly educated, with high household income, and less than 1 year since diagnosis had higher scores of CNAT-C. Also sociodemographic characteristics were associated with each domain of cancer caregivers' need. Correlations between patients' and caregivers' comprehensive needs were low to moderate (0.013~0.469). CONCLUSION: Cancer caregivers experience high levels of comprehensive needs, which are closely related to their sociological characteristics. The tailored interventions and mobilization of social and health care support may thus provide multiple levels of benefit across cancer trajectories. The patient-caregiver dyad should be regarded as a unit for treatment in cancer care.

RESUMO

In traditional soil heavy metal (HM) pollution assessment, spatial interpolation analysis is often carried out on the limited sampling points in the study area to get the overall status of heavy metal pollution. Unfortunately, in many machine learning spatial information enhancement algorithms, the additional spatial information introduced fails to reflect the hierarchical heterogeneity of the study area. Therefore, we designed hierarchical regionalization labels based on three interpolation techniques (inverse distance weight, ordinary kriging, and trend surface interpolation) as new spatial covariates for a machine learning (ML) model. It was demonstrated that regional spatial information improved the prediction performance of the model (R2 > 0.7). On the basis of the prediction results, the status of HM pollution in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region was evaluated: cadmium (Cd) and copper (Cu) were the most serious pollutants in the PRD (the point overstandard rates are 18.77% and 12.95%, respectively). The analysis of index importance and bivariate local indicators of spatial association (LISA) shows that the key factors affecting the spatial distribution of heavy metals are geographical and climatic conditions [namely, altitude, humidity index, and normalized vegetation difference index (NDVI)] and some industrial activities (such as metal processing, printing and dyeing, and electronics industry). This study develops a novel approach to improve existing spatial interpolation techniques, which will enable more precise and scientific soil environmental management.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The hair follicles (HFs) are barely regenerated after loss in injuries in mammals as well as in human beings. Recent studies have shown that the regenerative ability of HFs is age-related; however, the relationship between this phenomenon and the stem cell niche remains unclear. This study aimed to find a key secretory protein that promotes the HFs regeneration in the regenerative microenvironment. METHODS: To explore why age affects HFs de novo regeneration, we established an age-dependent HFs regeneration model in leucine-rich repeat G protein-coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5) + /mTmG mice. Proteins in tissue fluids were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. The role and mechanism of candidate proteins in HFs de novo regeneration and hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) activation were investigated through in vivo experiments. The effects of candidate proteins on skin cell populations were investigated by cellular experiments. RESULTS: Mice under 3-week-old (3W) could regenerate HFs and Lgr5 HFSCs, which were highly correlated with the immune cells, cytokines, IL-17 signaling pathway, and IL-1α level in the regeneration microenvironment. Additionally, IL-1α injection induced de novo regeneration of HFs and Lgr5 HFSCs in 3W mouse model with a 5 mm wound, as well as promoted activation and proliferation of Lgr5 HFSCs in 7-week-old (7W) mice without wound. Dexamethasone and TEMPOL inhibited the effects of IL-1α. Moreover, IL-1α increased skin thickness and promoted the proliferation of human epidermal keratinocyte line (HaCaT) and skin-derived precursors (SKPs) in vivo and in vitro, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, injury-induced IL-1α promotes HFs regeneration by modulating inflammatory cells and oxidative stress-induced Lgr5 HFSCs regeneration as well as promoting skin cell populations proliferation. This study uncovers the underlying molecular mechanisms enabling HFs de novo regeneration in an age-dependent model.

RESUMO

Fibrin-based hydrogels have been widely used in various tissue engineering because of their biocompatibility, biodegradability, tunable mechanical characteristics and nanofibrous structural properties. However, their ability to support stem cells for hair follicle neogenesis is unclear. In this study, we investigated the effect of fibrin hydrogels in supporting skin-derived precursors (SKPs) in hair follicle neogenesis. Our results showed that SKPs in fibrin hydrogels with high cell viability and proliferation, the stemness of SKPs could be maintained, and the expression of hair induction signature genes such as akp2 and nestin was enhanced. Moreover, hair follicle reconstruction experiments showed de novo hair genesis in mice and the hairs persisted for a long time without teratoma formation. More importantly, the blood vessels and sebaceous glands were also regenerated. Our study demonstrated that fibrin hydrogels are promising in hair follicle regeneration and have potential application in clinical settings for alopecia and wound healing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Early detection of subclinical myocardial dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is essential for preventing heart failure. This study aims to search for predictors of left ventricular (LV) myocardial deformation and tissue abnormalities in T2DM patients with preserved ejection fraction by using CMR T1 mapping and feature tracking. METHODS: 70 patients and 44 sex- and age-matched controls (Cs) were recruited and underwent CMR examination to obtain LV myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV) and global longitudinal strain (GLS). The patients were subdivided into three groups, including 19 normotensive T2DM patients (G1), 19 hypertensive T2DM patients (G2) and 32 hypertensive patients (HT). The baseline biochemical indices were collected before CMR examination. RESULTS: LV ECV in T2DM patients was significantly higher than that in Cs (30.75 ± 3.65% vs. 26.33 ± 2.81%; p < 0.05). LV GLS in T2DM patients reduced compared with that in Cs (-16.51 ± 2.53% vs. -19.66 ± 3.21%, p < 0.001). In the subgroup analysis, ECV in G2 increased compared with that in G1 (31.92 ± 3.05% vs. 29.59 ± 3.90%, p = 0.032) and that in HT, too (31.92 ± 3.05% vs. 29.22 ± 6.58%, p = 0.042). GLS in G2 significantly reduced compared with that in G1 (-15.75 ± 2.29% vs. -17.27 ± 2.57%, p < 0.05) and in HT, too (-15.75 ± 2.29% vs. -17.54 ± 3.097%, p < 0.05). In T2DM group, including both G1 and G2, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) can independently forecast the increase in ECV (ß = 0.274, p = 0.001) and decrease in GLS (ß = 0.383, p = 0.018). CONCLUSIONS: T2DM patients with preserved ejection fraction show increased ECV but deteriorated GLS, which may be exacerbated by hypertension of these patients. Hemoglobin A1c is an index that can independently predict T2DM patients' LV myocardial deformation and tissue abnormalities.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although opioids are commonly prescribed in clinical anaesthesia, the significant side effects attributed to their overuse are raising increasing concerns. One way to reduce perioperative opioid consumption is to apply opioid-reduced anaesthesia (ORA) and even opioid-free anaesthesia (OFA), which involves regional techniques, neuraxial anaesthesia, nonopioid analgesics or combined use. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the application of OFA by using esketamine in intraoperative analgesia could minimize the side effects of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), as well as other short-term side effects related to anaesthesia. METHODS/DESIGN: The study was designed as a prospective, randomized, controlled, multicentre trial. A total of 278 patients were enrolled; participants were nonsmoking female patients aged 18-50 years and scheduled for laparoscopic appendectomy or cholecystectomy, ASA at I-III, with no serious physical or mental diseases. Both groups received usual perioperative care except for the analgesic medication of either esketamine or sufentanil. The primary outcome was the incidence of PONV 3 days after surgery. Secondary outcomes included recovery status, pain, sedation level and overall recovery, delirium and cognition, anxiety and depression and total consumption of analgesic agents. DISCUSSION: This trial may show that the synergy of esketamine and propofol anaesthesia reduces PONV as well as other short-term adverse events, thereby providing a better safety and satisfaction profile of ERAS for laparoscopic appendectomy and cholecystectomy. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To improve the early stage diagnosis and reduce the lung cancer (LC) mortality for positive nodule (PN) population, data on effectiveness of PN detection using one-off low-dose spiral computed tomography (LDCT) screening are needed to improve the PN management protocol. We evaluate the effectiveness of PN detection and developed a nomogram to predict LC risk for PNs. METHODS: A prospective, community-based cohort study was conducted. We recruited 292,531 eligible candidates during 2012-2018. Individuals at high risk of LC based on risk assessment underwent LDCT screening and were divided into PN and non-PN groups. The effectiveness of PN detection was evaluated in LC incidence, mortality, and all-cause mortality. We performed subgroup analysis of characteristic variables for the association between PN and LC risk. A competing risk model was used to develop the nomogram. RESULTS: Participants (n = 14901) underwent LDCT screening; PNs were detected in 1193 cases (8·0%). After a median follow-up of 6·1 years, 193 were diagnosed with LC (1·3%). Of these, 94 were in the PN group (8·0%). LC incidence, mortality, and all-cause mortality were significantly higher in the PN group (adjusted hazard ratios: 10.60 (7.91-14.20), 7.97 (5.20-12.20), and 1.94 (1.51-2.50), respectively). Additionally, various PN characteristics were associated with an increased probability of developing LC. The C-index value of the nomogram for predicting LC risk of PN individuals was 0·847. CONCLUSIONS: The protocol of PNs management for improvement could focus on specific characteristic population and high-risk PN individuals by nomogram assessment.

RESUMO

Large skin defects caused by accidents or disease can cause fluid loss, water and electrolyte disorders, hypoproteinemia and serious infection and remain a difficult problem in clinical practice. In situ bioprinting is a promising, recently developed technology that involves timely, customized, and morphologically adapted bioprinting of bioink into tissue defects to promote the recovery of human tissues or organs. During this process, bioink is a key factor. In this study, we synthesized a biocompatible, photosensitive hydrogel material comprising gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) for robot-assisted in situ bioprinting of skin wounds. The results showed that GelMA demonstrated good printability of that supported the proliferation of skin-derived precursors (SKPs) and maintained their properties. Furthermore, in situ bioprinting of GelMA hydrogels with epidermal stem cells (Epi-SCs) and SKPs onto skin wounds showed complete wound healing and functional tissue skin regeneration. The regenerated skin contains epidermis, dermis, blood vessels, hair follicles, and sebaceous glands and resembling native skin. These results provide an effective strategy for skin repair through the combined application of GelMA hydrogels, Epi-SCs, SKPs and in situ bioprinting and its promising clinical translational potential for further applications.

RESUMO

Molecular pathways that contribute to orbital fibroblast activation during thyroid-eye disease (TED) may promote TED progression. Non-coding RNAs, especially miRNAs, play a critical role in the pathogenesis of TED. In the present study, miR-103a-3p was dramatically upregulated and TGFBR3 was downregulated within TED orbital tissue samples and TGF-ß-stimulated TED orbital fibroblasts. miR-103a-3p inhibition in TGF-ß-stimulated TED orbital fibroblasts partially abolished TGF-ß-induced fibrotic alterations, as manifested by the impaired fibroblast cell viability and decreased vimentin and fibronectin levels. miR-103a-3p directly targeted TGFBR3 in TED orbital samples and TGF-ß-stimulated TED orbital fibroblasts. In TGF-ß-stimulated TED orbital fibroblasts, TGFBR3 overexpression inhibited fibroblast cell viability and decreased vimentin and fibronectin levels. TGFBR3 overexpression partially attenuated the inhibitory effects of miR-103a-3p overexpression on TGFBR3 expression and the promotive effects of miR-103a-3p overexpression on TGF-ß-induced fibrotic alterations. Under TGF-ß stimulation, miR-103a-3p overexpression significantly promoted, whereas TGFBR3 overexpression inhibited the phosphorylation of Erk1/2, JNK, Smad2, and Smad3. TGFBR3 overexpression also partially abolished the effects of miR-103a-3p overexpression on Erk1/2, JNK, Smad2, and Smad3 phosphorylation. In conclusion, the miR-103a-3p/TGFBR3 axis regulated TGF-ß-induced TED orbital fibroblast activation and fibrosis in TED, with the possible involvement of the Erk/JNK and TGF-ß/Smad signaling pathways.

RESUMO

Objective: Cognitive impairment (CI) in Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) is attracting increasing attention. This study aims to clarify the prevalence and risk factors for cognitive dysfunction in patients on MHD who have no history of stroke. Methods: A total of 99 patients with no history of stroke undergoing MHD were enrolled. Global cognitive function was evaluated using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale. Attention and executive functions were evaluated by the Digital Span (DS) test and the Color Trail Test (CTT). The Hamilton Depression and Anxiety scales were used to assess depression and anxiety status. The effects of patient background factors, laboratory indicators, anxiety, and depression on cognitive dysfunction were examined by regression analysis. Results: There were 69.70% of the patients had general CI, 65.65% had depression, and 57.57% had anxiety. The forward and backward DS in the cognitively impaired (CI) group were shorter than in the normal cognitive function (NCF) group (P<0.05). Times required for CTT-I, CTT-II, and CTT II - CTT I were longer in the CI group than in the NCF group (P<0.05). Hemoglobin levels were lower, and parathyroid hormone (PTH) and uric acid levels were higher in the CI group than in the NCF group (P<0.05). Hemoglobin levels were negatively correlated with CI in these patients (odds ratio [OR] 0.634, P<0.05) and PTH, and uric acid levels were positively correlated with CI (OR 1.028, P<0.05; and OR 1.011, P<0.05). The proportions of patients with diabetes and depression were higher in the CI group (P<0.05). Conclusion: There was a high prevalence of CI with significant impairment of attention and executive ability in MHD patients who had no stroke history. Hemoglobin may protect cognitive function, while diabetes, PTH, and uric acid levels may be risk factors. Depressive and anxiety states may aggravate CI in MHD patients.

RESUMO

Transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention (TTVI) is a novel alternative to functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) for patients with prohibitive surgical risk. Devices have been designed according to different pathophysiological mechanisms of FTR, including ones to achieve an edge-to-edge repair and others aiming at direct annuloplasty. Recently, a transcatheter tricuspid valve repair system mimicking a surgical Kay procedure (K-Clip™ system, Huihe Medical Technology, Shanghai, China) completed its salvage-use trial. The system, which clips the posterior annulus to achieve bicuspidization of the TV, demonstrated acceptable procedural safety and efficacy. Each TTVI system has distinct characteristics for echocardiographic imaging and special consideration for intraoperative guidance. This review focuses on elaborating how two-dimensional and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) are used in clinical practice to guide K-Clip™ implantation in comparison to other direct annular reduction devices. A limited number of TEE work planes are proposed for the procedure with the aim to provide a steeper learning curve for the echocardiographer and interventionalist while simplifying the implantation steps.

RESUMO

AIMS: Dexmedetomidine could be an ideal adjuvant to propofol during gastrointestinal endoscopy because it provides both analgesia and sedation without respiratory depression. This study investigates the effect of different doses of dexmedetomidine on the median effective concentration of propofol during gastrointestinal endoscopy. METHODS: Ninety adult patients were randomly assigned to Group Control, Group DEX0.5 (0.5 µg/kg dexmedetomidine) or Group DEX1.0 (1.0 µg/kg dexmedetomidine). Anaesthesia during endoscopy was implemented by plasma target-controlled infusion (TCI) of propofol with different doses of dexmedetomidine. TCI concentration of the first patient for each group was 2.5 µg/mL and the consecutive adjacent concentration gradient was 0.5 µg/mL. Median effective concentration (EC50 ) of propofol by TCI for gastrointestinal endoscopy was determined by using the modified Dixon's up-and-down method. Cardiovascular variables were also measured. RESULTS: EC50 of propofol by TCI and 95% confidence interval (CI) for gastrointestinal endoscopy were 3.77 (3.48-4.09), 2.51 (2.27-2.78) and 2.10 (1.90-2.33) µg/mL in Group Control, Group DEX0.5 and Group DEX1.0, respectively. The average percent change from heart rate (HR) baseline was 2.8 (8.9), -7.4 (7.7) and -10.5 (8.8) (P < .001), and the average percent change from mean arterial pressure (MAP) baseline was -10.6 [-24.7; 3.5], -9.5 [-29.2; 11.4] and -4.0 [-27.3; 15.5] (P = .034) in Group Control, Group DEX0.5 and Group DEX1.0, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Dexmedetomidine reduced the EC50 of propofol by TCI. A 0.5-1 µg/kg dose of dexmedetomidine caused a decrease in HR without bradycardia. The decrease in dosage of propofol with increasing doses of dexmedetomidine caused more stable MAP. Dexmedetomidine is an ideal adjuvant drug to propofol during gastrointestinal endoscopy.

RESUMO

Rare earth elements (REEs) have been increasingly diffused to the environment due to their extensive use and application in industries, agriculture, and high-tech devices, which have been regarded as emerge pollutants. However, the study concerning REEs in urban soils is still limited. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to investigate the potential source and risk of REEs in urban environment. We analyzed the concentration and distribution of REEs in urban park soils, and performed a combination of micro geochemical method and random forest method to characterize the pollution sources of REEs. The results showed that the ΣREE concentrations in Beijing urban park soils ranged from 117.19 to 198.09 mg/kg. Spatial distribution indicated that the high concentrations of REEs were mainly concentrated in the west of Beijing near an industrial area. The geochemical parameters, micro spherules and random forest results confirmed the anthropogenic pollution sources from industry and traffic. Risk assessment showed that the average daily doses of total REEs for children and adults were far below the reference threshold with values of 0.08 and 0.02 µg/kg/day, respectively. Our study has exhibited that though the reconstruction of parks from abandoned industrial sites showed an accumulation of REEs, the health risk of REEs for human beings are negligible.

RESUMO

This study was performed to detect the expression of ceruloplasmin in the peripheral blood of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy and explore the mechanisms of iron metabolism disorder in drug-resistant epilepsy. The expression levels of ceruloplasmin mRNA and ceruloplasmin protein in the peripheral blood of the three groups were detected using real-time fluorescence-based quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. The differences in the expression of ceruloplasmin mRNA of different seizure frequencies and types, electroencephalogram (EEG) abnormal discharges, and different medication methods were analyzed and compared. The relative expression of ceruloplasmin mRNA and ceruloplasmin protein in the drug-resistant epilepsy group was significantly higher than that in the drug responsive group and higher in the drug responsive group compared with the normal group. The relative expression of ceruloplasmin mRNA in patients with epilepsy using different medication methods was statistically significant. Patients who received a combination of two or three drugs exhibited a higher expression than those treated with a single-drug treatment, whereas those who received a combination of three drugs had a higher expression than those with two drugs. The increased expression of ceruloplasmin in the peripheral blood of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy was closely related to the different medication methods, but no obvious correlation with epileptic seizure frequencies or types and abnormal EEG discharges was identified. The increased expression of ceruloplasmin enhanced iron oxidative damage and may be the potential mechanism of drug-resistant epilepsy and may be one of the drug resistance indicators for combination drugs when treating drug-resistant epilepsy. A pair of new quinolone alkaloid enantiomers, (Ra)-(-)-viridicatol (1) and (Sa)-(+)-viridicatol (4), and seven known compounds, namely, 2, 3 and 5-9, were isolated from Penicillium christenseniae SD.84. The structures of 1 and 4 were determined using NMR and HRESIMS data. Theoretical calculations through CD and ECD confirmed 1 and 4 as a pair of enantiomers. The MIC values of 4 against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus were 12.4 and 24.7 µM, respectively, compound 1 had no inhibitory activity. Antimicrobial assays of 2, 3, and 5-7 showed a moderate activity against S. aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus. This study demonstrated the remarkable potential of Penicillium sp. to produce new drug-resistant leading compounds, thereby advancing the mining for new sources of antimicrobial agents.

RESUMO

AIMS: To examine the longitudinal association between transportation noise exposure (road traffic, aircraft, and railway noise) and T2D in a meta-analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane, and Web of Science published up to February 2022. The GRADE approach was used to evaluate the study quality, and the pooled effect estimate was calculated by the fixed-effects model or the random-effects model. RESULTS: We included 10 prospective studies with a total of 4,994,171 participants and 417,332 T2D cases in the meta-analysis. According to the Navigation guide, 8 studies out of 10 were rated as having a probably high or high risk of bias. For road noise, the pooled relative risk (RR) per 10 dB higher Lden for developing T2D was 1.06 (95% CI:1.03, 1.09) with high heterogeneity (I2  = 90.1%, p < 0.001). Similar associations were also observed in aircraft and railway noise: the pooled RR were separately were: 1.01 (1.00, 1.01) and 1.02 (1.01, 1.03) separately. A 'dose-response' analysis found a similar linear association between road noise exposure and the risk of T2D. CONCLUSIONS: An overall 6% increase in the risk of T2D per 10 dB increase in road exposure was observed. Further studies are needed to confirm our findings, especially for aircraft and railway noise, and to identify the mechanisms involved.
