RESUMO

Nickel@MXene quantum dots (Ni@MQDs), as novel flower-like hybrid materials, were firstly prepared through a simple reduction method. The Ni@MQDs exhibited an outstanding catalytic performance for Cr (VI) reduction with a low activation energy (Ea = 18.9 kJ mol-1) and a high kinetic constant (k = 0.4779 min-1) in the presence of formic acid (HCOOH). Density functional theory calculations demonstrated that Ni@MQDs exhibited an upshift of d-band center of active Ni atoms to promote the adsorption of both HCOOH and active H atoms, as well as an improved conductivity to boost the catalytic reaction kinetics, leading to the most favorable catalytic performance. This work may open up a new avenue towards the design and synthesis of novel MQDs-based hybrid catalysts for wastewater treatment.

ZrB2 is first explored as an earth-abundant metal diboride catalyst for highly efficient nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR). The synthesized ZrB2 nanocubes exhibited a highly attractive NRR performance with an NH3 yield of 37.7 µg h-1 mg-1 and a Faradaic efficiency 18.2% at -0.3 V (RHE). Theoretical calculations unraveled that active Zr centers enabled the effective activation of the N2 molecule via a unique tetranuclear side-on mode and concurrently impeded hydrogen evolution by restricting H+ adsorption.

RESUMO

Electroreduction of N2 represents a promising technique for ambient NH3 synthesis, but exploring efficient electrocatalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) remains a key challenge. Herein, we reported our experimental and theoretical findings that FeMoO4 could be a new candidate for effective and durable NRR in neutral solution. The developed FeMoO4 nanorods exhibited a fascinating NRR activity with an NH3 yield of 45.8 µg h-1 mg-1 (-0.5 V) and a Faradaic efficiency of 13.2% (-0.3 V). Mechanistic studies disclosed that Fe and Mo synergistically promoted the N2 adsorption and accelerated the electron transfer on FeMoO4, whereas the unsaturated 3-fold coordinated Mo (Mo3c) sites served as the main active centers for stabilizing the key *N2H intermediate and reducing the reaction energy barrier.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic effects of conventional treatment with different routes of administration of dexamethasone on sudden deafness. METHOD: Eighty-four patients with sudden deafness were included in this prospective randomized study. Twenty one patients (group 1) were treated with taking dexamethasone orally combined with conventional methods. Another 21 patients (group 2) were treated with intravenous dexamethasone injection combined with conventional methods. Group 3 (21 patients) were treated with intratympanic dexamethasone injection by the way of external ear combined with conventional methods. The other 21 patients (group 4) were treated with intratympanic dexamethasone injection by the way of pharyngotympanic tube combined with conventional methods. The hearing gains at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 kHz and the mean values were compared among four groups. RESULTS: The average hearing gains of 1, 2, 3 and 4 group was 21.3 dB, 27.5 dB, 43.2 dB and 48.1 dB respectively. Group 3 and group 4 had statistical difference compared with group 1 and group 2 in the average hearing gains. There was no obviously statistical difference between group 1 and group 2 and between group 3 and group 4. In patients with PTA < or = 70 dB, the average hearing gains at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 kHz had no obvious difference (P > 0.05) among four groups. However, in patients with PTA > 70 dB, there was statistical difference between group 1, 2 and group 3, 4 (P < 0.05), the hearing gains of group 3. 4 were apparently higher than that of group 1, 2. However, there was no significant difference of hearing gains between group 1 and group 2 (P > 0.05) and between group 3 and group 4 (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The conventional drug treatment with taking dexamethasone orally or intravenous dexamethasone injection had no obvious effect on sudden deafness with PTA > 70 dB, but the conventional drug treatment with intratympanic dexamethasone injection is a useful treatment for sudden deafness. Comparison with whole body administration, intratympanic dexamethasone injection is more convenient to use in clinic, and with less prohibitions and complications. Patients with PTA > 70 dB should take intratympanic dexamethasone injection in early days.

UNLABELLED: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common cause of cryptogenic cirrhosis, is becoming more prevalent in China. However, there is as yet no clearly established therapy for reversing fatty liver. Our aim is to explore the effect of traditional Chinese herbs QuYuHuaTanTongLuo Decoction (QYHTTLD) on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Sixty-nine non-alcoholic steatohepatitis patients were randomly divided into two groups. One group of 35 patients were treated by QYHTTLD, another group of 34 patients were treated by Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA). The TNF-alpha, IL-8, MDA level, SOD activity and liver function, as well as B ultrasonic image were detected before and after being treated. The results showed: after 6 months treatment, MBI of the treatment group was obviously decreased (p<0.05). The levels of TC, TG and LDL-C were significantly decreased whereas the level of HDL-C increased (p<0.01, p<0.05, p<0.05, and p<0.05, respectively) in the treatment group, the levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C had no significant difference in the control group (p>0.05). The levels of TNF-alpha, IL-8 and MDA were significantly decreased whereas SOD activity was significantly increased (p<0.01, p<0.05, p<0.01, and p<0.01, respectively) in the treatment group, the level of MDA was significantly decreased in the control group (p<0.05). B ultrasonic images were ameliorated in different degree (p<0.01 and p<0.01, respectively). Both QYHTTLD and UDCA had the effect in improving the scores of symptoms and signs of patients, however, the difference value of the scores in treatment group were significantly higher than that in control group after being treated for 6 months (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: QYHTTLD is effective for treating non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and its effect seems to relate with the ways of QYHTTL down-regulating inflammation cytokine IL-8 level and relieving lipid peroxidation of liver.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of compositie salviae dropping pill (CSDP) on hyperlipemia patients with phlegm and blood stasis syndrome. METHOD: Hyperlipemia patients were divided randomly into two groups. One group of 40 patients were treated by CSDP, another group of 41 patients were treated by simvastatin. The TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, ApoA and ApoB levels, ALT, r-GT, IL-6, MDA level and SOD activity were determined before and after being treated. RESULT: After 3 months treatment, the TC, TG and LDL-C levels were obviously decreased in two groups (P <0.01, P < 0.05), there is no significant difference between the effective rate of two groups. The ALT, r-GT, IL-8 and MDA levels of treatment group were obviously decreased (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), while the ApoA level and SOD activity increased obviously in those patients (P <0.05, P <0.01, respectively). However, the ALT, r-GT, IL-6, MDA, HDL-C, ApoA level and SOD activity had no significant difference after treatment in control group. CONCLUSION: Our study suggest that CSDP have the function of falling serum lipid level without damaging liver function, its function of protecting liver function might related to its function of improving of anti-oxidation and decreasing of inflammation, the mechanism of CSDP disparting and removing phlem and blood stasis in the processes lipid metabolism need to be studied further.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of modified Suan Zao Ren Decoction (mediation decoction) on insomnia of chronic hepatitis B patients with stagnation of the Liver-Qi and deficiency of blood syndrome. METHODS: Sixty-five patients of chronic hepatitis B with stagnation of the Liver-Qi, deficiency of the spleen and damp-heat syndrome were randomly divided into two groups. Thirty-three patients in the treatment group were treated by modified Suan Zao Ren Decoction, and thirty-two patients in the control group were treated by Surazepam and Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate. The clinical syndromes of insomnia and liver function were observed before and after treatment. RESULTS: After one months of treatment, the main symptoms and signs of insomnia are improved in both groups, stage I and II sleep decreaed significantly while stage Il, IV and rapid eye movement increased in insomniacs after treatment of modified Suan Zao Ren Decoction (P < 0.05). The total effective rate was not significantly different between the two groups (P > 0.05), while the markedly effective rate was significantly different (P < 0.05). In the same time, ALT, AST, TB levels of two groups were obviously decreased (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), AST levels of two groups after treatment were significant different (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Modified Suan Zao Ren Decoction is effective for improving sleep composition, and therefore improve the quality of sleep with few side effect. In the same time, it has the function in improving liver function, and can be used to treat chronic hepatitis B patients with insomnia.
