RESUMO

The boundary between molecular and metallic gold nanoclusters is of special interest. The difficulty in obtaining atomically precise nanoclusters larger than 2 nm limits the determination of such a boundary. The synthesis and total structural determination of the largest all-alkynyl-protected gold nanocluster (Ph4P)6[Au156(C≡CR)60] (R = 4-CF3C6H4-) (Au156) are reported. It presents an ideal platform for studying the relationship between the structure and the metallic nature. Au156 has a rod shape with the length and width of the kernel being 2.38 and 2.04 nm, respectively. The cluster contains a concentric Au126 core structure (Au46@Au50@Au30) protected by 30 linear RC≡C-Au-C≡CR staple motifs. It is interesting that Au156 displays multiple excitonic peaks in the steady-state absorption spectrum (molecular) and pump-power-dependent excited-state dynamics as revealed in the transient absorption spectrum (metallic), which indicates that Au156 is a critical crossover cluster for the transition from molecular to metallic state. Au156 is the smallest-sized gold nanocluster showing metal-like electron dynamics, and it is recognized that the cluster shape is one of the important factors determining the molecular or metallic nature of a gold nanocluster.

Heterointerfaces sandwiched by oxides of dissimilar crystal structures will show strong interface reconstruction, leading to distinct interfacial effect arising from unusual physics. Here, we present a theoretical investigation on the interfaces between infinite-layer oxide and perovskite oxide (SrCuO2/SrTiO3and SrCuO2/KTaO3). Surprisingly, we found well-defined two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG), stemming from atomic reconstruction and polar discontinuity at interface. Moreover, the 2DEG resides in both the TiO2and CuO2interfacial layers, unlike LaAlO3/SrTiO3for which 2DEG exists only in the TiO2interfacial layer. More than that, no metal-to-insulator transition is observed as the SrCuO2 layer thickness decreases to one unit cell,i.e., the metallicity of the new interface is robust. ABSTRACT: Meloxicam is commonly administrated to control postoperative pain in orthopedic surgery, while its efficacy in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is not clear. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the postoperative analgesic effect and tolerance of meloxicam in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients undergoing TKA.Totally, 128 knee OA patients scheduled for TKA were enrolled in this randomized, controlled, double-blind study, then randomized into meloxicam group (N = 65) and control group (N = 63) as 1:1 ratio. Patients took meloxicam or placebo from 4 hours (h) to 72 h after TKA. Patients were followed up at 6 h, 12 h, day (D)1, D2, D3, D7, month (M)1, and M3.Pain visual analog scale score at rest was decreased in meloxicam group at 12 h, D1 and D3 compared to control group; pain visual analog scale score at flexion was reduced in meloxicam group at 6 h, 12 h, D1, D2, and D3 compared to control group. Additional and total consumption of patient-controlled analgesia were both attenuated in meloxicam group compared to control group. Furthermore, patient satisfaction score was higher on D1, D2, D3 in meloxicam group compared to control group. However, no difference of hospital for special surgery knee score score at M1 or M3 was found between the 2 groups. Moreover, the occurrence of adverse events was similar between the 2 groups.Meloxicam displays good effect on controlling postoperative pain and improving patient satisfaction, while does not affect long-term knee function recovery or safety profile in knee OA patients undergoing TKA.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a radiomics model to predict early recurrence (<1 year) in grade II glioma after the first resection. Methods: The pathological, clinical, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data of patients diagnosed with grade II glioma who underwent surgery and had a recurrence between 2017 and 2020 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. After a rigorous selection, 64 patients were eligible and enrolled in the study. Twenty-two cases had a pathologically confirmed recurrent glioma. The cases were randomly assigned using a ratio of 7:3 to either the training set or validation set. T1-weighted image (T1WI), T2-weighted image (T2WI), and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted image (T1CE) were acquired. The minimum-redundancy-maximum-relevancy (mRMR) method alone or in combination with univariate logistic analysis were used to identify the most optimal predictive feature from the three image sequences. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was then used to develop a predictive model using the screened features. The performance of each model in both training and validation datasets was assessed using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results: A total of 396 radiomics features were initially extracted from each image sequence. After running the mRMR and univariate logistic analysis, nine predictive features were identified and used to build the multiparametric radiomics model. The model had a higher AUC when compared with the univariate models in both training and validation data sets with an AUC of 0.966 (95% confidence interval: 0.949-0.99) and 0.930 (95% confidence interval: 0.905-0.973), respectively. The calibration curves indicated a good agreement between the predictable and the actual probability of developing recurrence. The DCA demonstrated that the predictive value of the model improved when combining the three MRI sequences. Conclusion: Our multiparametric radiomics model could be used as an efficient and accurate tool for predicting the recurrence of grade II glioma.

PURPOSE: Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are common complications of high severity for diabetes. Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1) has the potential for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases therapy. This research aimed at exploring the regulation of Rg1 on DFUs treatment and the underlying mechanism. METHODS: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) incubated with high-glucose culture medium were established for induction of diabetes model. The MTT assay, Annexin V/PI assay and oxidative stress detection were carried out on high-glucose-induced HUVECs. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was performed to prove the interaction of miR-489-3p and Sirt1. DFUs model was established to determine the efficiency of Rg1 and miR-489-3p in wound closure of DFUs in vivo. RESULTS: Rg1 promoted cell proliferation, migration and angiogenesis, and reduced cell apoptosis in high-glucose-induced HUVECs. Knockdown of miR-489-3p alleviated the high-glucose-induced damage to HUVECs, while overexpression of miR-489-3p attenuated the protection effects of Rg1. Overexpression Sirt1 promoted wound healing in DFUs and Sirt1 was a direct target of miR-489-3p. In addition, animal experiments demonstrated that Rg1 promoted wound closure by regulating miR-489-3p/Sirt1 axis. CONCLUSIONS: Rg1 alleviated the DFUs by increasing Sirt1 expression via miR-489-3p downregulation and promoting activation of PI3K/AKT/eNOS signaling.

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory immunity theory has raised considerable concern in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Proviral integration site of murine 2 (Pim-2) kinases functions in apoptosis pathways and the anti-inflammatory response. Here, we investigated whether Pim-2 kinase inhibits atherosclerotic inflammation by suppressing the mTORC1 pathway. METHODS: An atherosclerosis animal model was established by feeding ApoE -/- mice a high-fat diet. THP-1-derived macrophages were subjected to ox-LDL (50 µg/ml, 24h) conditions in vitro to mimic the in vivo conditions. RESULT: The protein expression of Pim-2 was upregulated in ox-LDL-treated THP-1-derived macrophages and an atherosclerotic mouse model. Additionally, ox-LDL upregulated the protein expression of p-mTOR, p-S6K1 and p-4EBP1, intracellular lipid droplets, free cholesterol and cholesterylester and the mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines, including IL-6, MCP-1, TLR-4 and TNF-α, in THP-1-derived macrophages. Functionally, overexpressed Pim-2 (Pim-2 OE) attenuated atherosclerotic inflammation associated with the mTORC1 signaling pathway in vitro and in vivo, whereas knocked down Pim-2 (Pim-2 KD) markedly promoted atherosclerotic inflammation associated with upregulation of the mTORC1 signaling pathway. The plaque areas and lesions in the whole aorta and aortic root sections were alleviated in ApoE -/- mice with Pim-2 OE, but aggravated by Pim-2 KD. Additionally, an mTOR agonist (MHY1485) counteracted the anti-inflammatory effect of Pim-2 in ox-LDL-treated THP-1-derived macrophages after Pim-2 OE, whereas rapamycin rescued atherosclerotic inflammation in ox-LDL-treated THP-1-derived macrophages after Pim-2 KD. Furthermore, si-mTOR and si-Raptor alleviated the atherosclerotic proinflammatory effect in ox-LDL-treated THP-1-derived macrophages in a the background of Pim-2 KD. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicated that Pim-2 kinase inhibits atherosclerotic inflammation by suppressing the mTORC1 pathway.

Manure fertilization contributes to crop production and sustainable agriculture by introducing large amounts of nutrients and exogenous microbes into soil. However, the contribution of exogenous microbes in shaping soil bacterial community and network structure after fertilization are still controversial. In this study, bacterial communities and network structure that received unsterilized (R + C) or sterilized (R + SC) manure fertilizers, as well as no fertilizer control (R), were characterized using high throughput sequencing. Results showed that the relative abundance of fertilizer-derived OTUs decreased from 10.4% to 4.6% after 90 days incubation, while the Bray-Curtis distance between the control and fertilization group (R + C and R + SC) gradually increased with the culture time. It can be supposed that manure fertilization altered soil bacterial communities by interfering the growth of indigenous bacteria rather than the colonization of fertilizer-derived bacteria. Network analysis showed that a subset of the fertilizer-derived OTUs identified as Xanthomonadales order and Promicromonospora, Constrictibacter genera acted as connectors between modules. They enhanced the interactions not only between soil-derived OTUs and fertilizer-derived OTUs, but also within indigenous bacteria, supported that the introduction of fertilizer-derived exogenous bacteria contributes large to soil bacterial network association. Moreover, fertilizer-derived OTUs presented to be positively correlated with soil pH, while majority soil-derived OTUs presented to be negatively correlated with various physicochemical variables (pH, DOC, NO3-, and LAP). Our study highlighted the critical role of fertilizer-derived bacteria in regulating indigenous soil microbial community and network formation after fertilization.

New fabrication methods and lubrication materials must be developed to improve the lubrication performance of artificial joints and increase the lubrication duration. Herein, a novel polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene glycol/graphene oxide (PVA/PEG/GO) hydrogel was prepared by a physical cross-linking method, and then the hydrogel and its sustained-release solution were used as lubricant for friction evaluation. The results demonstrated that the slow-release gel solution has good lubrication performance, and coefficient of friction (COF) is only 0.04, which is much lower than the COF of distilled water (about 0.08) under the same conditions. The structure characterization results revealed that no new materials are formed in the gel. The results of thermogravimetric analyses and differential scanning calorimetry demonstrated that the addition of GO may improve the network crosslinking structure of the PVA/PEG hydrogel and improve its mechanical strength. In addition, PVA/PEG/GO hydrogel has superior self-healing function. The self-healing hydrogel did not break again after being pulled under 200 G of weights. The PVA/PEG/GO hydrogel with excellent slow-release lubricating performance and self-healing properties provides a novel candidate for design of long-term lubricating artificial joints, and is expected to promote the progress of artificial joint lubrication applications.

Designing definite metal-support interfacial bond is an effective strategy for optimizing the intrinsic activity of noble metals, but rather challenging. Herein, a series of quantum-sized metal nanoparticles (NPs) anchored on nickel metal-organic framework nanohybrids (M@Ni-MOF, M=Ru, Ir, Pd) are rationally developed through a spontaneous redox strategy. The metal-oxygen bonds between the NPs and Ni-MOF guarantee structural stability and sufficient exposure of the surface active sites. More importantly, such precise interfacial feature can effectively modulate the electronic structure of hybrids through the charge transfer of the formed Ni-O-M bridge and then improves the reaction kinetics. As a result, the representative Ru@Ni-MOF exhibits excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity at all pH values, even superior to commercial Pt/C and recent noble-metal catalysts. Theoretical calculations deepen the mechanism understanding of the superior HER performance of Ru@Ni-MOF through the optimized adsorption free energies of water and hydrogen due to the interfacial-bond-induced electron redistribution.

INTRODUCTION: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrinopathy in women of reproductive age. Recently, moxibustion, as a complementary and alternative therapy, has been commonly used in assisted reproduction and improvement of metabolic abnormalities in patients with PCOS. Currently, intervention efficacy of the use of moxibustion in PCOS treatment still remains controversial due to lack of high-quality evidence. Consequently, this study protocol was designed to objectively review and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of moxibustion treatment for PCOS. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: Electronic searches will be carried out from inception to May 2021 in the online databases of The Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, Chinese Biomedical Literature, Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. The Chinese Clinical Trial Registry Center and Clinical Trials will be used for searching ongoing trials. Randomised controlled trials and the first period in randomised cross-over trials involving any type of moxibustion for patients with PCOS will be included. Primary outcomes will be the ovulation rate, pregnancy rate and sex hormone levels, and secondary outcomes will be changes in clinical symptoms and metabolic indicators, total effective rate and the incidences of side effects and adverse events. Briefly, two reviewers will independently conduct study selection and data extraction, and the risk of bias will be assessed. Prior to the formal meta-analysis, the heterogeneity of included studies will be assessed. Review Manager Statistical Software (RevMan) V.5.3 will be used for data processing. Finally, the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation method will be applied to evaluate the quality of evidence. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval is not necessary since this study is designed as a systematic review. This study will be disseminated by a peer-review journal or conference presentation.

The continuous input of antibiotics due to frequent anthropogenic activities have increased the dissemination risk of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in forest soil. As soil engineers, it remains unclear whether earthworm intestinal microbial communities might play a role in controlling the ARG proliferation in forest soil. This study collected forest soil in the Yangtze River Delta, China, and its resident Metaphire guillelmi to investigate the interaction between tetracycline (50 µg kg-1) and the bacteria in worm gut and soil. Metagenome sequencing analysis indicated that the abundance of the total ARGs in both the soil (S2) and the worm gut (E2) was 1.3 (p < 0.001) and 1.2 (p < 0.001) times higher than the soil (S1) and (E1) without tetracycline exposure; and under tetracycline stress, the relative abundance of 36 and 20 bacterial genera in forest soil and worm gut were significantly increased respectively. However, the ARGs/ARB abundance decreased in the soil with the worm addition than that without, which may be related to the fact that earthworm intestinal bacteria harbored more tetracycline-degrading genes, i.e. dehydrogenase genes adh, ETFDH, and gpr, etc. Structural equation model analysis indicated that bacteria in worm intestinal has stronger ability to degrade tetracycline than in soil, and the main dissipate way was dehydrogenation. Together, the results contributed to understanding the promising role of worm intestinal bacteria in controlling the ARG risk caused by antibiotic disturbed forest soil.

The competing and non-equilibrium phase transitions, involving dynamic tunability of cooperative electronic and magnetic states in strongly correlated materials, show great promise in quantum sensing and information technology. To date, the stabilization of transient states is still in the preliminary stage, particularly with respect to molecular electronic solids. Here, a dynamic and cooperative phase in potassium-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (K-TCNQ) with the control of pulsed electromagnetic excitation is demonstrated. Simultaneous dynamic and coherent lattice perturbation with 8 ns pulsed laser (532 nm, 15 MW cm-2 , 10 Hz) in such a molecular electronic crystal initiates a stable long-lived (over 400 days) conducting paramagnetic state (≈42 Ωcm), showing the charge-spin bistability over a broad temperature range from 2 to 360 K. Comprehensive noise spectroscopy, in situ high-pressure measurements, electron spin resonance (ESR), theoretical model, and scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) studies provide further evidence that such a transition is cooperative, requiring a dedicated charge-spin-lattice decoupling to activate and subsequently stabilize nonequilibrium phase. The cooperativity triggered by ultrahigh-strain-rate (above 106 s- 1 ) pulsed excitation offers a collective control toward the generation and stabilization of strongly correlated electronic and magnetic orders in molecular electronic solids and offers unique electro-magnetic phases with technological promises.

Remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination in soil remains expensive and difficult. Sulfate radical advanced oxidation processes (SR-AOPs) can be used for in situ PAH oxidation but their efficiency and ecological impacts require evaluation. Here, we tested the remediation efficiency and ecological impacts of an SR-AOP combining sodium persulfate and ferrous sulfate (FS), the FS SR-AOP with the chelating agent citric acid (FS+CA), and the FS SR-AOP with chelating agent and the surfactant IGEPALCA-720 (FS+CA+IG) compared with natural attenuation (control, CK). We measured PAH, soil physicochemical properties (pH, soil organic matter [SOM]), and soil biological properties (polyphenol oxidase [PPO] activity, peroxidase [POD] activity, soil microbes) in contaminated soil samples after incubation with FS, FS+CA, FA+CA+IG, or CK for 1, 15, and 30 d. Compared with CK, all SR-AOPs significantly decreased PAH after 1 d, with FS+CA+IG showing the highest efficiency (80.8%) and PAH removal peaking at 15 d. FS+CA+IG treatment reduced SOM the least and soil pH the most; after 30 d, SOM recovered to ~80% of the level observed in CK, but soil pH decreased further. PPO and POD activities were highest after 15 and 30 d of FS+CA+IG treatment. Real-time quantitative PCR demonstrated that SR-AOPs significantly decreased quantities of PAH-degrading bacteria, soil bacteria, fungi, and actinobacteria at 1 d, but after 30 d, the microbes recovered to levels similar to those observed in CK, with no significant differences among SR-AOPs. SR-AOPs reduced bacterial diversity and changed the dominant phylum from Acidobacteria to Firmicutes. In summary, SR-AOP treatment with both the chelating agent and the surfactant produced the best PAH removal and least SOM destruction but the largest pH decrease, although some factors recovered with longer incubation. This study provides key information for improving PAH remediation and evaluating its ecological impact.

PURPOSE: To report four cases of herpes simplex virus-induced uveitis with posterior pole involvement at initial presentation. CASE PRESENTATIONS: In case 1, the posterior pole initially showed dense vitreous hemorrhage from the optic disc, multiple subretinal lesions around the optic disc, and retinal arterial sheath prior to retinal necrosis. In case 2, the posterior pole presented with optic disc edema, retinal venous tortuosity, and arterial sheathing around the optic disc prior to the peripheral retinal necrosis. In case 3 diagnosed with posterior herpetic uveitis, the posterior pole showed retinal arterial sheath and macular structural abnormities. In case 4, the posterior pole demonstrated optic disc swelling, along with perivascular retinal hemorrhage 4 days prior to peripheral retinal necrosis. CONCLUSIONS: Posterior pole involvement might occur either solely or before the development of peripheral retinal necrosis in patients with herpes simplex virus-induced acute retinal necrosis with and without prior central nervous system herpetic virus infection.

OBJECTIVES: The safety of root canal filling with 200 °C hot gutta-percha was investigated to study the effect of continuous wave technique combined with high-temperature injectable gutta-percha condensation technique on the surface temperature of periodontal tissue. METHODS: CT technique and Mimics, Geomagic, and Solidworks software were utilized to build the entity models of alveolar bone, dentin and root canal, periodontal ligament, and blood flow, respectively, which were then assembled in Solidworks into a finite element model of tooth with blood flow. By utilizing ABAQUS collaborative simulation platform, fluid-structure coupling was analyzed on the whole process of root canal filling. Consequently, the surface temperature of the periodontal tissue was obtained. RESULTS: In the absence of blood flow, the temperature of the periodontal ligament surface reached 50.048 ℃ during root canal filling with 200 ℃ gutta-percha. Considering blood flow, the temperature of periodontal ligament surface was 39.570 ℃. CONCLUSIONS: The temperature of the periodontal ligament surface increased when the continuous wave root canal was filled with 200 ℃ gutta-percha, and the periodontal tissue was not damaged.

This study empirically analysed the contagion of health using data from China Family Panel Studies. We first controlled variables related to health behaviour, medical conditions, individual characteristics, household characteristics, group characteristics, and prefecture/county characteristics and then employed multiple methods for estimation. The estimates showed that the average health level of others in the community had a significant positive effect on individual self-rated health-health was contagious. The measurement results remained robust after the endogeneity of the core explanatory variables was controlled using two-stage least squares. Furthermore, by analysing the heterogeneity of health contagion, we found that the contagion effect of health varied with the level of medical care, household affiliation, gender, rural/urban areas, and age groups. The contagion effect of health was more pronounced in the elderly population and the rural areas of the central region, where the level of medical care is relatively low, whereas it did not differ significantly between genders. Finally, the learning or imitation mechanism and social interaction mechanism of health contagion were examined.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor without curable therapy. Surgical resection remains the first choice of patients with GBM but tumors relapse rapidly even combined with conventional chemoradiotherapy. The mechanism of GBM rapid recurrence is poorly understood, which is largely due to the lack of an appropriate animal model, thus heavily impedes the improvement of postoperative therapy. Here we established a highly reproducible mouse GBM surgical model by using the syngeneic G422TN-GBM cells, which faithfully recapitulates the features of rapid recurrence of human GBM after surgery. Implanting 2 × 103-5 × 104 of G422TN-GBM cells in mouse cerebral cortex caused death in all animal within 23 days, while surgery was an effective therapy but not curable. After complete removal of visible tumors on day 5-9 of tumor growth, the tumors recurred macroscopically within 5 days accompanied by increasing infiltrative cancer foci. Mechanistically, the rapid recurrence of resected tumors was positively correlated to early Akt activation, which subsequently upregulated PD-L1/Vimentin and promoted proliferation/migration of cancer cells. In addition, environmental astrocytic activation with strong PD-L1 signal was prominent. Taken together, we provided a novel GBM surgical recurrence model for preclinical studies and suggested complicated recurring mechanisms involving in strong oncogenic signaling as well as immune inhibitory signals from both GBM cells and their neighboring astrocytes.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study is to report a case of acute retinal necrosis in which abnormalities in visual function did not correspond to retinal anatomical outcomes. CASE PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old female diagnosed with acute retinal necrosis underwent repeated (nine rounds) intravitreal ganciclovir injection (3 mg/0.1 ml) into the left eye, one injection every 2 weeks. During the therapy, the patient noticed her visual acuity declining gradually. The best corrected visual acuity in the left eye was 20/33. The visual field showed massive visual damage. There was no posterior necrotizing involvement, no macular edema or exudation, and only slight abnormity of the interdigitation zone in the fovea area was visible on OCT. Angio-OCT revealed normal capillary density of three retinal capillary and choriocapillaris layers. The visually evoked potential was normal. The photopic single-flash response showed a declined amplitude of a-wave and b-wave. The amplitudes of photopic 30 Hz flicker were decreased. Multifocal electroretinography revealed macular dysfunction. CONCLUSION: Ganciclovir-associated photoreceptor damage may induce abnormalities in retinal function in response to multiple continuous intravitreal ganciclovir injections at a relatively high dosage (3 mg/0.1 ml).

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common fatal cancers worldwide. The communication between GC and other cells in the GC microenvironment directly affects GC progression. Recently, exosomes have been revealed as new players in intercellular communication. They play an important role in human health and diseases, including cancer, owing to their ability to carry various bioactive molecules, including non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). NcRNAs, including micro RNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, play a significant role in various pathophysiological processes, especially cancer. Increasing evidence has shown that exosomal ncRNAs are involved in the regulation of tumor proliferation, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, immune regulation, and treatment resistance in GC. In addition, exosomal ncRNAs have promising potential as diagnostic and prognostic markers for GC. Considering the biocompatibility of exosomes, they can also be used as biological carriers for targeted therapy. This review summarizes the current research progress on exosomal ncRNAs in gastric cancer, focusing on their biological role in GC and their potential as new biomarkers for GC and therapeutics. Our review provides insight into the mechanisms involved in GC progression, which may provide a new point cut for the discovery of new diagnostic markers and therapeutic strategies.

Currently, new strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension (HPH) are urgently required. The unique features of circRNAs have unveiled a novel perspective for understanding the biological mechanisms underlying HPH and the possibility for innovative strategies for treatment of HPH. CircRNAs function as competing endogenous RNAs (CeRNA) to sequester miRNAs and regulate the expression of target genes. This study aimed to explore the roles of hsa_circ_0002062 on the biological behaviors of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) in hypoxic conditions. A number of in vitro assays, such as RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA pull-down, and dual-luciferase assays were performed to evaluate the interrelationship between hsa_circ_0002062, hsa-miR-942-5P, and CDK6. The potential physiological functions of hsa_circ_0002062, hsa-miR-942-5P, and CDK6 in hypoxic PASMCs were investigated through expression modulation. Our experiments demonstrated that hsa_circ_0002062 functions as a ceRNA, acts as a sponge for hsa-miR-942-5P, and consequently activates CDK6, which further promotes pulmonary vascular remodeling. Therefore, we speculate that hsa_circ_0002062 could serve as a candidate diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for HPH.
