RESUMO

Two kinds of plasmonic lenses are proposed based on phase compensation. Each kind of plasmonic lens is comprised of four sets of nanohole arrays, and two sets of face-to-face nanohole arrays are planar symmetric. The adjustment of separation and the rotation angle of holes compensates, respectively, for the phase difference of the surface plasmon polaritons reaching to the focal spot. The different design principles make the proposed plasmonic lenses show the different polarization dependence focusing. Two or four foci of the first kind of plasmonic lens and two controllable foci focusing of the second kind of plasmonic lens can be utilized as optical switch and logic judgment. Theoretic analysis, numerical calculations and experiment measurement verify the focusing performance of our proposed plasmonic lenses. The focusing functionality and versatility of our proposed structures are helpful for extending the applications of plasmonic lenses in integrated optics.

RESUMO

Although in "Fauna Sinica Insecta" 247 species of Phaneropterinae are recorded for China, there is not a single record of a species from the tribe Barbitistini. Herein, we newly record a small-sized and short-winged species of this tribe belonging to the genus Poecilimon (Fischer, 1853). We identified the species as Poecilimon intermedius (Fieber, 1853) which was collected in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, China. The records of the interesting species extend its distributional range in Asia. Detailed citations, description and necessary illustrations are provided.

BACKGROUND: To provide evidence for medical management of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in China based on comparisons of all clinical practical interventions using Bayesian network meta-analysis. METHODS: We conducted a systematic literature review by searching PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and the Wanfang Database (inception to May 2019) for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for CIC in Chinese people. Only RCTs that recruited participants aged over 18 and diagnosed with CIC by the Rome II, III or IV criteria were included. We used three outcomes to examine efficacy. The risk ratio (RR) of the responder rate, based on ≥3 spontaneous bowel movements (SBMs) per week after treatment, was the primary outcome, and the SBM count per week and the Bristol score (BS) were secondary outcomes. In addition, adverse effects (AEs) were also considered a secondary outcome to evaluate safety. We conducted Bayesian network meta-analysis with random effects, and the RR or mean difference with its 95% credible interval was calculated. In addition, we ranked all treatments via their cumulative curves (SUCRA) and assessed the quality of evidence according to the GRADE criteria. RESULTS: We included a total of 42 trials (6820 participants) of 20 grouped interventions that included pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments. For the primary outcome, fourteen interventions were significantly better than placebo, and Probiotics plus Mosapride (PB + MP) appeared superior to others (GRADE quality of evidence: Moderate to Low), followed by Prucalopride (PP) (High to Low) and Electroacupuncture (EA) (High to Low). For SBM, Compound sodium bicarbonate suppository (CSBS) appeared to be best, with an SUCRA value of 90% (High to Low). For BS, Lactulose plus Probiotics (LT + PB) was superior to others (Moderate to Low), followed by Polyethylene glycol (PEG) (High to Moderate). Although all interventions appeared non-significant when compared with placebo in terms of adverse effects, Lactulose plus Mosapride showed greater risk than others on ranking probability. CONCLUSIONS: Given the GRADE assessment, PB + MP, PP and EA may be the priory options with moderate certainty in the quality of evidence for the primary outcome. For SBM, a CSBS may be the best option with moderate certainty in the quality of evidence. For BS, PEG may be the priory option with high certainty in the quality of evidence. However, due to a lack of high certainty in the quality of evidence, caution is needed when recommending the interventions. Because of the limitations, an increased number of trials are required for more accurate results.

Metasurfaces can be used to manipulate light at the subwavelength scale, and miniaturized photonic devices can be designed to generate subwavelength lattices, which are important for exploring phenomena in novel fields of physics such as topology. Analogous to multi-beam interference, plasmonic metasurfaces composed of nano-slit pairs on truncated spiral segments were designed and fabricated to realize lattice wave fields at a subwavelength resolution. The interference of the analogous beams was controlled by combining the geometric and dynamic phases, and lattices of different morphologies were realized by adjusting the orientation and position of the nano-slits simultaneously. The numerical and measured results showed good agreement, demonstrating the feasibility of the method and its ability to miniaturize lattice patterns. Owing to the compactness and flexible tunability, the nanoscale optical lattices generated using the metasurfaces are expected to find wide applications in integrated and on-chip optical systems.

Clarifying the symbiotic relationship between national fitness and the sports industry has important theoretical and practical significance for the collaborative development of the two. In order to measure and verify the symbiotic relationship between national fitness and the sports industry, we introduce a "symbiosis degree" model test method for the measurement of the symbiotic relationship during 2000-2017 between the two. Our results show that national fitness and the sports industry have symbiotic sufficient and necessary conditions, for both of which there is a symbiotic relationship, and a non-symmetric reciprocal symbiotic mode long-term. Overall, the impact of national fitness on the sports industry is greater than the impact of the sports industry on national fitness. From a structural perspective, there is a certain difference in the mutual influence of national fitness and the sports industry in the field of sports goods and sports services. In a dynamic forecast, we found that national fitness and the sports industry have the development trend of a symmetric reciprocal symbiotic state. Through theoretical studies, data measured and simulated projections, we believe that the symbiosis degree of the measurement model for the detection and prediction of the symbiotic unit of the symbiotic relationship between them to be of practical value.

We investigated how elevated CO2 affects the responses of Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis and Ulva lactuca to NH4+ enrichments. All algae were incubated under four nutritional conditions (zero addition, 100, 500, and 2500 µM NH4+), and two CO2 levels (390 ppm and 1000 ppm). The growth, photosynthesis, and soluble protein contents of both species increased under the eutrophication condition (100 µM NH4+). However, the growth and carotenoid contents of the two species declined when NH4+ concentration increased. Under the super eutrophication condition (2500 µM NH4+), all indexes measured in G. lemaneiformis were suppressed, while the growth and photosynthesis in U. lactuca changed indistinctively, both compared with the control. Moreover, under the super eutrophication condition, elevated CO2 reduced the suppression in the growth of G. lemaneiformis, but decreased the growth of U. lactuca. Nonetheless, G. lemaneiformis displayed much lower growth rates than U. lactuca under the super eutrophication and elevated CO2 condition.

Objective: The present report systematically reviewed the basic research of Shen Zhi Ling oral liquid (Tiao Xin preparation) treatment on Alzheimer's disease (AD). Methods: CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP were searched, and the literature was selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were extracted, and descriptive analysis was used. Results: Twenty-four articles were included, all of which were published as "Tiao Xin preparation." There were seven types of AD models involved. The mechanism of action of Shen Zhi Ling oral liquid in the treatment of AD primarily included suppression of Aß deposition and tau hyperphosphorylation, regulation of multiple neurotransmitters, improvement in energy metabolism, and promotion of the expression of autophagy-related and learning-memory-associated proteins. Conclusions: AD is a complex disease caused by multiple factors. Shen Zhi Ling oral liquid exhibited multiple and multitarget effects and great potential for treating AD. The continuous development of molecular biology and related disciplines will further elucidate the mechanism of Shen Zhi Ling oral liquid intervention in AD.

Background: Shenfu injection (SFI) has shown a remarkable therapeutic effect in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) during the acute phase of symptom aggravation since it became commercially available in 1987. However, the therapeutic effect of SFI has not been validated in a standard clinical study. As a pilot clinical trial, this study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of SFI for treatment of CHF patients during the acute phase. Methods: A total of 160 patients experiencing acute phase CHF were enrolled in this study and randomly assigned to receive the placebo (placebo group, 150 ml glucose (GS)) or SFI (SFI group, 50 ml SFI + 100 ml GS) in addition to their standard medications for CHF treatment. The treatment lasted for 7 ± 1 days, and the follow-up continued for 28 ± 3 days after treatment. The primary endpoints were New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome scores. Results: After 7±1 days of treatment, the efficacy of SFI according to improvements in NYHA and TCM syndrome scores in the SFI group (78.38% and 89.19%, respectively) was significantly higher than that in the placebo group (61.43% and 60.00%, respectively; P<0.05). The SFI group had a longer increase in amplitude than the placebo group (113.00 m versus 82.99 m, P<0.05). The incidence of adverse events and other safety indices showed no significant differences between the two groups. Conclusion: SFI combined with conventional therapy for treatment of CHF during acute symptom aggravation ameliorated the cardiac dysfunction and clinical symptoms and improved the patients' quality of life without any significant AEs compared with the conventional therapy alone.

Benzofurans are among the most popular structural units in bioactive natural products, however, the synthesis of such structures by radical cyclization cascade reactions is rare. Herein, we report a mild and broadly applicable method for the construction of complex benzofurylethylamine derivatives through a unique radical cyclization cascade mechanism. Single-electron transfer (SET) from 2-azaallyl anions to 2-iodo aryl allenyl ethers initiates a radical cyclization that is followed by intermolecular radical-radical coupling. This expedient approach enables the synthesis of a range of polycyclic benzofurans that would otherwise be difficult to prepare.

Context: The role of traditional Chinese medicine injections (TCMIs) in diabetic foot (DF) has not been well estimated. Objective: To evaluate the clinical effective rate, safety, and the financial cost of TCMIs in treating DF and ulcer wound healing. Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP database, and Wanfang database from inception to May 2018 to find all randomized control trials (RCTs) related to TCMIs in DF treatment. The search items were "Traditional Chinese Medicine Injection" AND "Diabetic foot or Diabetic foot ulcer" AND "random". Study Selection and Synthesis: Only RCTs of TCMIs combined conventional therapies versus conventional therapies and that can be quantitatively synthesized were included. Finally, 17 studies and 1294 participants were included after extraction. Two investigators independently extracted and analyzed the data using RevMan5.3 software. Results: The overall clinical effective rate of TCMI groups is higher than that of control groups [RR=1.27, 95CI % (1.20, 1.34), P<0.00001] based on fixed effect model analysis. Regarding motor nerve conduction velocity of median nerve and peroneal nerve, TCMI group showed a significant improvement (MD=3.84[2.28, 5.41], P<0.00001; MD=2.89[0.63, 5.15], P=0.01). Regarding plasma viscosity TCMI group showed a statistically difference (MD=0.27[0.04, 0.49], P=0.02). In terms of blood viscosity at high shear rate, there was an improvement of TCMI group (MD=0.36[0.05, 0.67], P=0.02). However, sensory nerve conduction velocity of peroneal nerve and median nerve showed a contradiction to motor nerve conduction velocity, respectively (MD=2.59[-1.69, 6.87], p=0.24; MD=2.73[-0.96, 6.43], P=0.15). Conclusion: The data of this study shows that TCMIs can bring benefits to patients with diabetic foot. However, due to low methodological quality of included RCTs, more rigorous designed RCTs with large sample size are recommended to provide more high-quality evidence.

RESUMO

Three species of the leaf-mimicking Tettigoniidae, Leptoderes Serville, 1838 were reported in the southeast of Asia. Here, we redescribe the type species L. ornatipennis Serville, and describe two new species Leptoderes shuzhenae sp. nov. and L. dianensis sp. nov., respectively from Tibet and Yunnan, China. Leptoderes now comprises five species. Informative illustrations are provided. The distribution of the Leptoderes Serville species is discussed and mapped. The holotypes are deposited in Insect Collection of Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China (IZCAS).

Cadmium is one of the major heavy metal pollutions in coastal waters, and it is well known that cadmium at trace concentration is toxic to macroalgae. Change in marine carbonate system and ocean acidification caused by elevated atmospheric CO2 also alter physiological characteristics of macroalgae. However, less research is focused on the combined impacts of elevated CO2 and cadmium pollution on the growth and physiology in macroalgae. In this study, the maricultivated macroalga Pyropia haitanensis (Rhodophyta) was cultured at three levels of Cd2+ (control, 4 and 12 mg L-1) and two concentrations of CO2, the ambient CO2 (AC, 410 ppm) and elevated CO2 (HC, 1100 ppm). The results showed that 12 mg L-1 Cd2+ significantly suppressed the relative growth rate and superoxide dismutase activity in AC-grown P. haitanensis, while such inhibition extents by Cd2+ were alleviated in HC-grown algae. Cd2+ had no effects on efficiency of electron transport (α) and maximum electron transport rate (ETRmax), but α was increased by elevated CO2. Cd2+ dramatically suppressed the maximum net photosynthesis oxygen evolution rate (NPRm) and the minimum saturation irradiance (Ik) when the algal thalli were grown at AC, while such suppression of NPRm by Cd2+ was much decreased when the thalli were grown at HC. Collectively, our results suggested that elevated CO2 would alleviate Cd2+ toxicity on P. haitanensis.

The review aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of Zhengqing Fengtongning release tablets in treating ankylosing spondylitis (AS) systematically through searching relevant electronic databases and collecting relevant literature. Such Chinese databases as CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, and English databases as PubMed, EMbase and Cochrane Library, etc, were searched from the date of their establishment to September 2017. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the methodology quality of included studies was evaluated by two independent reviewer using Cochrance evaluation system, and Meta-analysis on the clinical efficacy and safety of Zhengqing Fengtongning release tablets for AS was conducted with RevMan 5.3 software. Seven randomized control trials (RCTs) including 570 patients of AS were included, with 294 patients in Zhengqing Fengtongning treatment group and 276 patients in the western medicine control group. Meta-analysis showed that: Zhengqing Fengtongning alone treatment was superior to sulfasalazine groups in the effect on improving the total effective rate. Besides, as compared to sulfasalazine control group, the time of morning stiffness and the finger-to-floor distance were significantly shortened in Zhengqing Fengtongning treatment group. However, the cciput-to-wall distance, the chest expansion, Schober's test, disease activity score (DAS) in patients, disease activity score (DAS) in doctors, ESR, CRP showed no statistically significant differences. As compared with western medicine control group, Zhengqing Fengtongning combined with western medicine had a higher total effective, significantly shorten the time of morning stiffness, and increase Schober's test values; However, the cciput-to-wall distance, the finger-to-floor distance, the chest expansion, DAS in patients, DAS in doctors, ESR and CRP showed no statistically significant differences. Zhengqing Fengtongning had less adverse reactions in clinical application, and the main adverse reaction was skin rash or itching when used alone. The study showed: Zhengqing Fengtongning is effective for AS with high safety, but high quality clinical trials are still needed to further prove its clinical efficacy and safety.

Polarization state of a wave field can be manipulated through the plasmonic metasurface consisting of orthogonal nanoslit pairs; the output polarization angle is independent of the incident linearly polarized light and is highly dependent on the orientations of nanoslit pairs. We combine the Archimedes spiral with the nanoslit pairs to compensate for the Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase induced by the orientation of nanoslits, as well as achieve the radially polarized vector beam (RPVB) under the illuminations of different linearly polarized lights. Experiments are performed to successfully realize the RPVB, and the results are in excellent agreement with the numerical simulations.

Physiological metabolisms of seaweeds usually suffered climate changes in the field. Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis and Ulva lactuca, collected from Nan'ao Island, Shantou, China, were cultured under ambient and elevated CO2 supply (390 and 800 µl L-1), with low and high temperatures (15 °C and 25 °C) for 2 weeks, aiming to compare the difference of the main physiological metabolism between two seaweed species in response to the elevated CO2 and high temperature. At 15 °C, the pH reduction in the culture medium caused by elevated CO2 was larger in G. lemaneiformis than in U. lactuca. At 25 °C, elevated CO2 significantly increased photosynthetic rates (Pn or Pg) and maintained constant respiratory rates (Rd) in G. lemaneiformis. However, for 25 °C-grown U. lactuca, the increment of CO2 did not enhance the Pn (Pg) rates but rapidly decreased the Rd rates itself. With the higher Rd/Pg ratios in G. lemaneiformis than U. lactuca, the warming thereby promoted more allocation of photosynthetic products to respiratory consumption in G. lemaneiformis. Both Pg and Rd rates exhibited lower temperature acclimation in two seaweeds. In addition, elevated CO2 markedly increased the relative growth rate (RGR) and phycobiliprotein (PB) contents at 25 °C, but exhibited no enhancement of chlorophyll a (Chl a), carotenoids (Car), soluble carbohydrate (SC), and soluble protein (SP) contents in G. lemaneiformis, with the reduction of SC when temperature increased only. We suggested that climate changes were probably a more benefit to U. lactuca than to G. lemaneiformis, inherently justifying the metabolism during G. lemaneiformis maricultivation.

Insects have a complex chemosensory system that accurately perceives external chemicals and plays a pivotal role in many insect life activities. Thus, the study of the chemosensory mechanism has become an important research topic in entomology. Spodoptera exigua Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a major agricultural polyphagous pest that causes significant agricultural economic losses worldwide. However, except for a few genes that have been discovered, its olfactory and gustatory mechanisms remain uncertain. In the present study, we acquired 144,479 unigenes of S. exigua by assembling 65.81 giga base reads from 6 chemosensory organs (female and male antennae, female and male proboscises, and female and male labial palps), and identified many differentially expressed genes in the gustatory and olfactory organs. Analysis of the transcriptome data obtained 159 putative chemosensory genes, including 24 odorant binding proteins (OBPs; 3 were new), 19 chemosensory proteins (4 were new), 64 odorant receptors (57 were new), 22 ionotropic receptors (16 were new), and 30 new gustatory receptors. Phylogenetic analyses of all genes and SexiGRs expression patterns using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactions were investigated. Our results found that several of these genes had differential expression features in the olfactory organs compared to the gustatory organs that might play crucial roles in the chemosensory system of S. exigua, and could be utilized as targets for future functional studies to assist in the interpretation of the molecular mechanism of the system. They could also be used for developing novel behavioral disturbance agents to control the population of the moths in the future.

We use the spiral multi-pinhole plate to generate ultrashort vortex pulses and study their spatiotemporal evolutions involving intensity, phase, orbital angular momentum, and energy current. In the experiment, a Mach-Zehnder-type interferometer is employed to perform the investigation of ultrashort vortices. Combining the experimental results and the theoretical analyses, we discuss the spatiotemporal evolutions of ultrashort vortex pulses in femtosecond regime. The results show that the distribution of orbital angular momentum in the cross-section of the vortex pulse is maintained almost invariable in the pulse duration, while both the intensity and the energy current obey a Gaussian-like distribution. With time evolution, the phase contour lines of such vortex pulses rotate around the propagation axis.

Vector vortices with spatially varying polarization are interesting phenomena and have motivated many recent studies. A vector vortex in the wavefield of a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) may be extended to the sub-wavelength scale, which would be more significant. However, the formation of vector vortices requires the polarization state to possess components parallel to the surface of metal films. In this study, we generated radially polarized vector plasmonic vortices using the metasurface spiral of orthogonal nanoslit pairs. We theoretically derived the x and y component expressions in the central point area of the spiral and obtained a doughnut-shaped intensity distribution with radial polarization. The Jones matrix of the metasurface spiral was generated to describe the polarization characteristics. The results were validated by performing finite-difference time-domain simulations. In addition, we used a Mach-Zehnder interferometer system to extract the intensity and phase distributions of different components of the SPP field. The experimental doughnut-shaped radially polarized vector vortex was consistent with the theoretical and simulated results.

The review aims to assess the effectiveness and safety Pudilan Xiaoyan oral liquid in treating pediatric suppurative tonsillitis systematically through searching relevant electronic database and collecting relevant literature. Meta-analysis was performed with the RevMan 5.3 software. Eighteen RCTs of 1 883 patients of pediatric suppurative tonsillitis were included. Meta-analysis showed that: compared with the application of antibiotics alone, combined with Pudilan can effectively improve the treatment of pediatric suppurative tonsillitis in efficacy rate and shorten the time of recovering normal temperature, the time of tonsil purulent discharge and can also reduce the extinction time of sore throat, antiadoncus or congestion subsided and appetite recovery. There was no severe adverse reaction during the treatment. Compared with the application of antibiotics alone, combined with Pudilan may be more effective and safe in the treatment of pediatric suppurative tonsillitis, which can not be strongly proved at present for lack of studies with high quality.
