BACKGROUND: Optic atrophy (OPA) is a very tricky disorder. Presently, no effective management is available for this condition. Previous studies have reported that acupuncture may be effective for the treatment of OPA. However, its effectiveness is still inconclusive. Thus, this study will aim to assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for OPA. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search for relevant studies will be performed from the databases of PUMBED, EMBASE, CINAHI, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and other literature sources from inception up to the present. No language limitations will be applied to all literature searches. We will consider all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case-controlled trials (CCTs) for assessing the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for OPA. The primary outcomes include the rates of vision improvement and visual field improvement. The secondary outcomes consist of the increased visual field average sensitivity, pattern visual evoked potential (PVEP) amplitude, and shortened PVEP latency, as well as any expected and unexpected adverse reactions. Risk of bias assessment will be performed by Cochrane risk of bias for RCTs and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for CCTs. RESULTS: In this study, we will outline details of the aims and methods on the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for the treatment of OPA. CONCLUSION: The results of this study will summarize the most current evidence of acupuncture for the treatment of patients with OPA. DISSEMINATION AND ETHICS: The results of this study are expected to be published on peer-reviewed journals. This is a literature-based study; therefore, no ethical approval is necessary. A tightly controlled activity of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) including renin, angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACEs), and angiotensin II (Ang II) receptors is critical not only for maintaining systemic hemodynamics and blood volume but also for controlling cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue remodeling in target organs. ACE inhibitors or Ang II receptor type 1 (AT1R) blockers are widely used as first line drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases that are caused by chronical activation of RAS. However, about 15% of patients using ACE inhibitors develop side effects in the skin and the underlying mechanisms have been poorly understood or even neglected. Herein we show an endogenous RAS in maintaining self-renewal and regeneration potential of epidermal stem cells (ESCs) thereby contributing to wound healing. Firstly, we found that ESCs may express ACE, and its members in wound edges were positively associated with wound healing in Captopril-treated rats. Secondly, we demonstrated that human ESCs had a functional RAS including ACE1, ACE2, Ang II, AT1R, and AT2R. ACE-Ang II axis maintains human ESC function via activation of both AT1R and AT2R, which are negatively regulated by each other. Ang II-induced activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT)1 and STAT3 was mediated by the negative cross-talk between AT1R and AT2R in human ESCs. These results suggest that Ang II is a critical regulator of ESC function and ESC-mediated epidermal regeneration. Inappropriate interruption of Ang II-operated signaling may prejudice ESC function leading to impaired skin wound healing or even disease.

Filamentous fungi are excellent sources for the production of a group of bioactive small molecules which are often called secondary metabolites (SMs). The advanced genome sequencing technology combined with bioinformatics analysis reveals a large number of unexplored biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) in the fungal genomes. To unlock this fungal SM treasure, many approaches including heterologous expression are being developed and efficient cloning of the BGCs is a crucial step to do this. Here, we present an efficient strategy for the direct cloning of fungal BGCs. This strategy consisted of Splicing by Overlapping Extension (SOE)-PCR and yeast assembly in vivo. By testing 14 BGCs DNA fragments ranging from 7 kb to 52 kb, the average positive rate was over 80%. The maximal insertion size for fungal BGC assembly was 52 kb. Those constructs could be used conveniently for the heterologous expression leading to the discovery of novel natural products. Thus, our results provide an efficient and quick method for the low cost direct cloning of fungal BGCs.

Objective: The objective of the present study was to investigate the application of a carbon arc lamp on wound healing in a rat cutaneous full-thickness wound model. Background data: In clinical practice, wound healing has been promoted by irradiation with a carbon arc lamp. However, the corresponding mechanism has not been clearly defined. Methods: A cutaneous full-thickness wound on the back of rats was irradiated using a carbon arc lamp at a wavelength peak range of 620-740 nm with 54 J/cm2. Injured sham-irradiated control rats were used as the control. The rats were euthanized after 7, 14, and 21 days, while wound reepithelialization and healing quality were examined by histological analyses with comparison between groups. Cell proliferation was observed by 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) immunohistochemical staining. Results: Irradiation by the carbon arc lamp significantly accelerated wound healing. The wound-healing rate in the treated group at day 21 was 98.42% ± 0.56%, compared with 93.58% ± 1.26% in the control group (p < 0.05). Significant increases in the length of epithelial edges, collagen content, and microvessel density were observed in the wound sites in the treated group at days 7, 14, and 21 (p < 0.05). Moreover, the number of BrdU-labeled cells increased in the wound edge at days 7 and 14 due to irradiation (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The results demonstrated that the carbon arc lamp can promote wound healing together with improvement in its quality by stimulating cell proliferation.

Covering: Up to March 2019Secondary metabolites (SMs) are chemical entities produced by organisms in response to environmental stimuli and as a defense against biological warfare. The production of SMs is controlled by a hierarchical regulatory network involving core factors that orchestrate transcriptional activation of SM gene clusters. In the past few years, significant achievements have been made in the discovery of novel fungal natural products by genetic manipulations of various types of transcriptional regulators. In this review, we summarized the representative regulators for the activation of fungal secondary metabolism and focused on the strategies for the exploitation of these regulators and their application in finding novel structures.

BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have reported the efficacy of fenofibrate for patients with diabetic retinopathy (DRP). No systematic review has, however, addressed its efficacy for DRP. Thus, this systematic review will firstly evaluate the efficacy and safety of fenofibrate for patients with DRP. METHODS: This study will search the following databases: PUMBED, EMBASE, CINAHI, ACMD, CENTRAL, CBM, CNKI, VIP, and WANGFANG, along with grey literature from inception to the present. We will accept randomized controlled trials on evaluating the efficacy and safety of fenofibrate for DRP. The primary outcome is the progression of DRP. The secondary outcomes are vision loss, development of diabetic macular edema, aggravation of hard exudates, quality of life, and any adverse events. Methodological quality of each included study will be assessed by using Cochrane Collaboration risk of bias tool. In addition, Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation tool will also be used to evaluate the overall strength of the evidence. Two independent reviewers will conduct all procedures of study selection, data extraction, and methodological assessment. Any disagreements will be consulted with a third reviewer. RevMan 5.3 software will be used to pool data and to carry out the meta-analysis if it is possible. RESULTS: In present study, we anticipate to find a considerable number of published studies presenting evidence on efficacy and safety of fenofibrate for DRP. CONCLUSION: The findings of this systematic review will provide latest evidence of fenofibrate for patients with DRP. DISSEMINATION AND ETHICS: The findings of this scoping review will be disseminated in print, conferences, or by peer-reviewed journals. No ethical approval is needed for this systematic review, because it is a literature-based study. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: PROSPERO CRD42019121869.

A plausible reaction mechanism is proposed on the basis of control experiments. In addition, the formed [60]fullerene-fused cyclopentanols can be further dehydrated to provide [60]fullerene-fused cyclopentenes.

PURPOSE: To report 1-year cosmesis and toxicity outcomes of a prospective, phase II trial of accelerated partial breast irradiation using intensity-modulated radiation therapy (RT) to deliver 27 Gy in 5 daily fractions. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Node-negative breast cancer patients after breast conserving surgery with clear excision margins, with physician-assessed excellent or good baseline cosmesis were invited to participate in a prospective clinical trial to receive 27 Gy in 5 daily fractions to the expanded primary site. Clinical photographs and European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer cosmetic score were collected at baseline prior to RT and 1-year after radiation therapy. A protocol-specified, interim analysis was scheduled when 50 patients had completed 1-year follow-up. A panel of 6 physicians provided a consensus global cosmetic score (termed panel-assessed score) based on clinical photographs at baseline and 1-year. Fibrosis and telangiectasia were prospectively assessed by clinical research staff at clinic visits. RESULTS: At the interim analysis, 55 patients had baseline and 1-year post-RT images available. Most patients had either an improvement (53%) or no change (40%) in cosmesis from baseline to 1-year. Among 49 patients with excellent or good panel-assessed score at baseline, only 2 (4%) patients had a fair score at 1-year post-RT, indicating cosmetic deterioration. No patients had evidence of telangiectasia or grade 2 or higher fibrosis. There were no recurrences. CONCLUSIONS: APBI using 27 Gy in 5 daily fractions achieved acceptable 1-year cosmesis and no grade 2 fibrosis. A preplanned stopping rule of 5% grade 2+ fibrosis was not observed. The trial will continue to the planned target accrual of 274 patients.

BACKGROUND: Omega-3 and ranibizumab (O3R) has been reported to treat age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) effectively. However, up to the present, no systematic review specifically addressed the efficacy of O3R for the treatment of ARMD. Therefore, in this study, we will propose to assess the efficacy and safety of O3R for the treatment of ARMD. METHODS: We will search PUMBED, EMBASE, CINAHI, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Information, Wanfang Data, as well as the gray literature from inception up to the present. We will accept randomized controlled trials for assessing the efficacy and safety of O3R for ARMD. The primary outcomes include change in best corrected visual acuity and central retinal thickness. The secondary outcomes consist of changes in subfoveal choroidal thickness, macular atrophy, retinal average sensitivity, contrast sensitivity, glare disability, and quality of life. In addition, incidence and severity of adverse events will also be evaluated. Cochrane Collaboration tool will be used to assess the risk of bias for each included study. In addition, Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation tool will be utilized to assess the overall strength of the evidence. Two authors will independently carry out all procedures and any divergences will be solved through discussion with a third author. If it is possible, we will conduct meta-analysis and subgroup analysis concerning different interventions, risk of bias, and outcome measurements. RESULTS: In this proposed study, we outline details of the aims and methods of efficacy and safety of O3R for the treatment of ARMD. CONCLUSION: The findings of this systematic review will summarize current evidence of O3R for the treatment of patients with ARMD. DISSEMINATION AND ETHICS: The results of the present study are expected to be published by peer-reviewed journals. This is a literature-based study. Thus, ethical approval is unnecessary for this study. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: PROSPERO CRD42019121177.

Understanding the distribution and sources of mercury (Hg) in the Tibetan Plateau is of great value to study the long-range transport of Hg. Herein, the total Hg (THg) concentrations and the isotopic compositions of mosses, conifer needles, and surface soils collected from both slopes of the Shergyla Mountain of Tibetan Plateau were analyzed. The contents of THg in samples (except mosses on the eastern slope) were significantly positively correlated with altitude in both the western and eastern slopes, possibly caused by topographic factors. In contrast, Δ199Hg in samples was significantly negatively correlated with altitude. On the basis of Hg isotopic compositions, atmospheric Hg0 uptake was indicated as the primary accumulation pathway of Hg in mosses (Δ199Hg: -0.12 ±â€¯0.09‰, -0.26 - 0.00‰, 1 SD, n = 10) and conifer needles (Δ199Hg: -0.21 ±â€¯0.08‰, -0.36 - -0.11‰, 1 SD, n = 9). Moreover, the contributing fractions of atmospheric Hg0 to Hg in surface soils (Δ199Hg: -0.20 ±â€¯0.07‰, -0.31 - -0.06‰, 1 SD, n = 17) increased with altitude and accounted for an average of 87 ± 9% in atmospheric sources. Due to the special geographic positions and environmental conditions of the Tibetan Plateau, the results of this study were essential for further understanding the long-range transport and global cycling of Hg.

Presently, data on the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Chinese Korean ethnicity are very scarce. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) and T2DM in Chinese Korean ethnicity population. This case-control study involved 43 T2DM Chinese Korean ethnicity patients (T2DM group) and 43 healthy Chinese Korean ethnicity normoglycemic subjects as controls (Control group). All included participants aged from 40 to 75 years old. Clinical and biological data were collected to determine the phenotypic traits. The restriction fragment length polymorphism-polymerase chain reaction was used to analyze the TCF7L2 by genotyping for rs7903146 (C/T). Spectrophotometer with Chronolab kits was used to conduct the biochemical analyses. TCF7L2 was associated with T2DM in the Chinese Korean ethnicity population (P < .01 for alleles, and P < .05 for genotypes). Significant differences were found 2 groups regarding the T allele (37.2% T2DM patients vs 15.1% healthy subjects, P < .01), and G allele (62.8% T2DM patients vs 84.9% healthy subjects, P < .01). The risk genotypes were GG (83.7% T2DM patients, vs 44.2% healthy control, P < .01), GT (4.7% T2DM patients, vs 20.9% healthy control, P = .04), and TT (11.6% T2DM patients, vs 34.9% healthy control, P = .01). The results of this study demonstrated that TCF7L2 is associated with T2DM in the Chinese Korean ethnicity population, which is an important risk factor for T2DM in this population.

Metabolic syndrome characterized by obesity, hyperglycemia and liver steatosis is becoming prevalent all over the world. Herein, a water insoluble polysaccharide (WIP) was isolated and identified from the sclerotium of Poria cocos, a widely used Traditional Chinese Medicine. WIP was confirmed to be a (1-3)-ß-D-glucan with an average Mw of 4.486 × 106 Da by NMR and SEC-RI-MALLS analyses. Furthermore, oral treatment with WIP from P. cocos significantly improved glucose and lipid metabolism and alleviated hepatic steatosis in ob/ob mice. 16S DNA sequencing analysis of cecum content from WIP-treated mice indicated the increase of butyrate-producing bacteria Lachnospiracea, Clostridium. It was also observed that WIP treatment elevated the level of butyrate in gut, improved the gut mucosal integrity and activated the intestinal PPAR-γ pathway. Fecal transplantation experiments definitely confirmed the causative role of gut microbiota in mediating the benefits of WIP. It is the first report that the water insoluble polysaccharide from the sclerotium of P. cocos modulates gut microbiota to improve hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. Thereby, WIP from P. cocos, as a prebiotic, has the potential for the prevention or cure of metabolic diseases and may elucidate new mechanism for the efficacies of this traditional herbal medicine on the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism.

Adipose­derived stem cells (ADSCs) are mesenchymal stem cells that are often used in regenerative medicine. Maintaining ADSC viability is important, as this optimizes the curative effects of cell therapy. However, the optimal conditions for cell viability preservation remain unknown. The present study aimed to acquire a better protocol for ADSC storage by comparing the effects of various solutions and temperatures for ADSC preservation, in order to suggest the most effective methods of short­term ADSC preservation for clinical use. ADSCs from passage 2 were suspended in solutions comprising 0.9% NaCl, 10% human serum (HS) or 10% platelet­rich plasma (PRP). Suspended cells were maintained at 4˚C or room temperature (~26˚C) for 2, 4 and 6 h. The differentiation capacity, apoptosis and proliferation of ADSCs were determined by oil red O/alizarin red S staining, flow cytometry, and a cell counting kit­8 cell proliferation assay, respectively. In addition, reverse transcription­quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis was performed. The results revealed that proliferation of ADSCs decreased with time. The optimal time for ADSC use was ~2 h, and 4 h was determined to be the latest time that ADSCs should be used. The 10% HS group had the highest survival rate, followed by the 10% PRP group; these two groups had higher survival rates than the 0.9% NaCl group (P<0.05). HS and PRP at 4˚C enhanced the ADSC proliferation rate (P<0.05), although the difference between these two groups was insignificant (P>0.05). In conclusion, the optimal time to use ADSCs was <2 h, and should not exceed 4 h. It was recommended that, for the transportation and short­term storage of ADSCs during clinical use, they should be stored with 10% HS at 4˚C to maintain ADSC viability. In addition, this was a cost­effective and safe method.

Coastal sediments are a major sink of the global mercury (Hg) biogeochemical cycle, bridging terrestrial Hg migration to the open ocean. It is thus of substantial interest to quantify the Hg contributors to coastal sediments and the extents to which the Hg sequestered into coastal sediments affects the ocean. Here, we measured concentrations and isotope compositions of Hg in Chinese coastal sediments and found that estuary sediments had distinctly higher δ202Hg and lower Δ199Hg values than marine sediments. Hg isotope compositions of marine sediments followed a latitudinal trend where δ202Hg decreases and Δ199Hg increases from north to south. An integrated model was developed based on a Hg isotope mixing model and urban distance factor (UDF), which revealed a significant difference in Hg source contributions among the estuary and marine sediments and a gradual change of dominant Hg sources from terrestrial inputs (riverine and industrial wastewater discharges) to atmospheric deposition with a decrease in urban impact. A UDF value of 306 ± 217 was established as the critical point where dominant Hg sources started to change from terrestrial inputs to atmospheric deposition. Our study helps explain the input and migration of Hg in Chinese marginal seas and provides critical insights for targeted environmental management.

BACKGROUND: Recent evidence suggests that angiotensin II (Ang II) plays a role in cutaneous wound healing. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are known as a rich source of cells that re-establish healed skin. However, the potential impact of Ang II on MSC differentiation into keratinocytes is still unknown. OBJECTIVE: The present study was conducted to explore the effect of Ang II on differentiation of bone marrow-derived MSCs (BM-MSCs) into keratinocytes. METHODS: BM-MSCs were isolated from rat bone marrow and cultured. The expression of Ang II type 1 (AT1 ) and type 2 (AT2 ) receptors was examined by immunofluorescence staining. The differentiation of BM-MSCs into keratinocytes was investigated by flow cytometry or/and histological observation. RESULTS: The BM-MSCs constitutively expressed both AT1 and AT2 receptors. The differentiation of BM-MSCs into keratinocytes was successfully induced. Interestingly, incubation of BM-MSCs with Ang II further promoted the differentiation of BM-MSCs into keratinocyte, which was abolished by pre-treatment with losartan, an AT1 receptor antagonist, but not by PD123319, an AT2 receptor antagonist. Moreover, the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitor SB203580, the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) inhibitor SP600125 and the Janus-activated kinase (JAK)2 inhibitor AG490 suppressed Ang II-induced differentiation of BM-MSCs into keratinocytes. The phosphoinositide-3 kinase (PI3K) inhibitor wortmannin and MEK1/2 inhibitor U0126 had no effect on BM-MSC differentiation into keratinocytes. CONCLUSIONS: Our data demonstrated for the first time that Ang II plays a promotive role in the differentiation of BM-MSC into keratinocytes through the AT1 receptor, and that the p38 MAPK, JNK and JAK2 signalling pathways are involved in this process. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to investigate the application of a carbon arc lamp on wound healing in a rat cutaneous full-thickness wound model. BACKGROUND DATA: In clinical practice, wound healing has been promoted by irradiation with a carbon arc lamp. However, the corresponding mechanism has not been clearly defined. METHODS: A cutaneous full-thickness wound on the back of rats was irradiated using a carbon arc lamp at a wavelength peak range of 620-740 nm with 54 J/cm2. Injured sham-irradiated control rats were used as the control. The rats were euthanized after 7, 14, and 21 days, while wound reepithelialization and healing quality were examined by histological analyses with comparison between groups. Cell proliferation was observed by 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: Irradiation by the carbon arc lamp significantly accelerated wound healing. The wound-healing rate in the treated group at day 21 was 98.42% ± 0.56%, compared with 93.58% ± 1.26% in the control group (p < 0.05). Significant increases in the length of epithelial edges, collagen content, and microvessel density were observed in the wound sites in the treated group at days 7, 14, and 21 (p < 0.05). Moreover, the number of BrdU-labeled cells increased in the wound edge at days 7 and 14 due to irradiation (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrated that the carbon arc lamp can promote wound healing together with improvement in its quality by stimulating cell proliferation.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the proangiogenic activity of exsomes released by human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) stimulated by erythropoietin and platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB). METHODS: Human umbilical cord-derived MSCs were seeded and maintained in culture overnight. The media were then replaced by alpha-MEM containing EPO (1 U/ml) and/or PDGF-BB (50 ng/ml), and the culture was maintained for 72 hours. The exosomes from the culture supernatants were isolated with a routine ultra-catrifagation method. Flow cytometric analysis was performed to identify the origin of the exosomes, and their morphological features were observed by using a transmission electron microscopy. The exosomes were added at a concentration of 10 µg/ml into the culture system of human umbilical cord vein endothelial cells. MTT assay was used to evaluate the proliferative status. The Matrigel assay was used to observe the formation of net-work structures which were calculated after culture for 12 hours. RESULTS: Flow cytometric analysis showed that microparticles released by human umbilical cord MSCs expressed CD9, CD63 and CD81, which was in accordance with the surface molecular features of exosomes. Under an electron microscope, the exosomes took the featured cystic shape. The protein contents of exosomes released by untreated, EPO-stimulated, PDGF-BB-stimulated and EPO plus PDGF-BB stimulated MSCs (108 cells) were 256±124 µg, 1021±392 µg, 830±265 µg and 2207±733 µg, respectively. The results revealed that MSCs treated by EPO and PDGF-BB released significantly higher amounts of exosomes (P<0.01). MTT assay proved that the exosomes from EPO and PDGF-BB treated MSCs had more potent proliferation-promoting activity on human umbilical cord vein endothelial cells than those from untreated MSCs. The Matrigel assay showed that the numbers of capillary-like structures in untreated, EPO-, PDGF-BB and EPO plus PDGF-BB-treated groups were 2.6±0.84, 4.6±1.57, 4.2±0.78 and 6.3±1.34 per high power objective. Treatment with EPO or PDGF-BB dramatically enhanced the numbers of capillary liue structure, compared with that of untreated group (P<0.01) and those in EPO and PDGF-BB combination group was significantly greater than those of EPO or PDGF-BB group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: EPO and PDGF-BB can stimulate MSCs to release exosomes with more potent proangiogenic activity.

An efficient palladium-catalyzed ortho-aroylation of O-arylmethyl and aryl-substituted acetoxime ethers has been developed; this method has high mono-site selectivity and does not require exogenous ligands. Under the direction of a simple exo-acetoxime auxiliary, a broad scope of masked arylmethyl alcohols and phenols as well as various aromatic aldehydes are compatible with this transformation, which probably follows a mechanistic pathway involving a six- or five-membered exo-cyclopalladated intermediate. The strategy can be expediently adopted to prepare synthetically valuable 1H-benzo[d][1,2]oxazines and benzo[d]isoxazoles. The directing group can be easily removed from the products to afford the functionalized diaryl ketones.

Two new secondary metabolites, kongiilines A and B (1, 7), and two asperphenamate derivatives, asperphenamates B and C (5-6), together with 16 known compounds (2-4, 8-20), were isolated from Tibetan Plateau fungi Penicillium kongii and Penicillium brasilianum. This is the first report on asperphenamates B and C as naturally occurring compounds, and that aspterric acid is isolated from P. brasilianum for the first time. Their structures were elucidated by different spectroscopic techniques including high-resolution electrospray ionisation mass spectrum, 1D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and 2D NMR as well as electronic circular dichroism. Compounds 4, 5, and 10 exhibited cytotoxicity activities against human colon carcinoma HCT116 cell line with IC50 values of 88.16, 77.68, and 36.92 µM, respectively. Fungi from Tibetan Plateau represent important and rich resources for the investigation of new chemicals.

Two new 2H-pyranones and two new isocoumarin derivatives, maculanslines A-D (1-4), together with seven known compounds (5-11), were isolated from the plant pathogenic fungus Leptosphaena maculans. Their planar structures and absolute configuration were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic techniques including high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrum, 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance, as well as electronic circular dichroism. All 11 compounds were tested for their inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase. Compound 1 showed moderate inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase with IC50 of 74.35 µM.
