OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to determine the role of nuclear receptor coactivator 2 in cell proliferation and invasion ability of gastric cancer cells and to explore its possible mechanisms. METHODS: Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine NCOA2 gene expression in gastric cancer. Western blotting was used to detect Wnt signal pathways-related protein expression. Colony formation assays, Cell Counting Kit-8 assays, and transwell assays were used to determine cell proliferation, metastasis, and invasion ability of gastric cancer cells. A flow cytometric apoptosis tests determine gastric cancer cell apoptosis ability after inhibition of the expression of nuclear receptor coactivator 2. Subcutaneous mouse models were used to determine the gastric cancer growth and peritoneal metastasis differences after inhibition the expression of nuclear receptor coactivator 2. RESULTS: The expression of nuclear receptor coactivator 2 in gastric cancer cells is high (P < .01), including lymph node metastasis, TNM staging, and gender differences in nuclear receptor coactivator 2 expression were statistically significant (P < .01). Short interfering nuclear receptor coactivator 2 could inhibit the proliferation and invasion ability of gastric cancer cells. Short interfering nuclear receptor coactivator 2 promotes the apoptosis of gastric cancer cells. Animal experiments showed that short interfering nuclear receptor coactivator 2 could inhibit the growth and invasion of gastric cancer-transplantable tumors. Knockdown of the expression of nuclear receptor coactivator 2 inhibited the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in the gastric cancer cells. CONCLUSIONS: Knockdown of the expression of nuclear receptor coactivator 2 can inhibit the proliferation and invasion of human gastric cancer in vitro and in vivo. The underlying mechanism of NOCA2 affects the Wnt signaling pathway.

Liquid core waveguide (LCW) is well-known as an effective fiber enhanced approach for Raman spectroscopy with features of long optical path and small sampling size. However, inevitable air bubbles introduced in the LCW tube possibly caused light scattering, refraction and reflection so as to further hamper the quantitative analysis. In this work, to eliminate air bubbles, a novel negative pressure system combined with 3D printing was first utilized for the enhanced Raman spectroscopy on the principle of the gas permeability of LCW tube. After optimization, the LCW tube made of Teflon-AF was inserted into a D-shaped support with an internal channel manufactured by 3D printing to create a sealed space; then, air pressure outside the LCW tube was reduced to create a negative pressure via diaphragm pump and magnetic valve controlled by computer. Under adjustable negative pressure, not only can liquid sample be introduced into the LCW tube automatically, but air bubbles can also be removed through the tube wall simply and completely. For real samples, the assembled apparatus was employed as the small sampling system of Raman spectrometer to measure rhodamine B and ethanol in solutions, with the highest 82-fold (ethanol) enhancement of analytical sensitivity vs. the traditional colorimetric ware. The limit of detections (LODs) were 0.7 µg/mL rhodamine B and 0.03% (v:v) ethanol with only 250 µL sample consumption; their linear correlation coefficients (r) were 0.998 and 0.999 in the range from 2 µg/mL to 25 µg/mL (rhodamine B) and 0.1%-5% (ethanol), respectively. It is worth mentioning that the intraday stability and 7-days reproducibility can be both controlled within 7%, which is extremely superior to the previous enhanced Raman spectroscopy. For another, 3D printing enables the LCW detection system more integrated and easier to assemble. So, the proposed method proves many advantages, such as stability, sensitivity, and quickness, in addition of effective physical enhancement, low sample consumption, and long light path. Considering the flexibility of LCW tube, as a versatile module, the negative pressure LCW system should be further suitable to ultraviolet, fluorescence and other detectors, which reveals a favorable application prospect for the fast testing instruments.

Caprine arthritis-encephalitis (CAE) is a chronic progressive infectious disease caused by caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV) that seriously threatens the goat industry. Chronic infection and life-long multi-tissue inflammation are the typical features of the disease. Innate antiviral immunity is essential for the host defense system that rapidly recognizes and eliminates invading viruses. Interferon ß (IFN-ß) is important for innate immunity and regulates immunity against a broad spectrum of viruses. To investigate the details of the IFN-ß response to CAEV infection, the effects of six viral proteins and the molecular mechanisms by which they affect IFN-ß production were analyzed. Overexpression of DU and Vif promote virus proliferation and inhibit the production of IFN-ß. qRT-PCR and luciferase reporter assays showed that overexpression of Vif inhibits the expression of luciferase under the control of the ISRE, NF-κB or IFN-ß promoter but does not affect the expression of IFN-ß activated by IRF3, indicating that Vif negatively regulates IFN-ß production by affecting upstream signal transduction of IRF3. Amino acids 149-164 of Vif were found to be necessary for the inhibitory effect of IFN-ß production. Our results indicate that CAEV evades surveillance and clearance by intracellular innate immunity by downregulating IFN-ß production.

Diseases and disorders such as Parkinson's, schizophrenia, and chronic pain are characterized by altered mesolimbic dopaminergic neurotransmission. Dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) influences behavior through both tonic and phasic signaling. Tonic dopamine levels are hypothesized to inversely regulate phasic signals via dopamine D2 receptor feedback inhibition. We tested this hypothesis directly in the context of ongoing pain. Tonic and phasic dopamine signals were measured using fast-scan controlled-adsorption voltammetry and fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, respectively, in the NAc shell of male rats with standardized levels of anesthesia. Application of capsaicin to the cornea produced a transient decrease in tonic dopamine levels. During the pain-induced hypodopaminergic state, electrically evoked phasic dopamine release was significantly increased when compared to baseline evoked phasic release. A second application of capsaicin to the same eye had a lessened effect on tonic dopamine suggesting desensitization of TRPV1 channels in that eye. Capsaicin treatment in the alternate cornea, however, again produced coincident decreased dopaminergic tone and increased phasic dopamine release. These findings occurred independently of stimulus lateralization relative to the hemisphere of dopamine measurement. Our data show that (a) the mesolimbic dopamine circuit reliably encodes acute noxious stimuli; (b) ongoing pain produces decreases in dopaminergic tone; and (c) pain-induced decreases in tonic dopamine correspond to augmented evoked phasic dopamine release. Enhanced phasic dopamine neurotransmission resulting from salient stimuli, may contribute to increased impulsivity and cognitive deficits often observed in conditions associated with decreased dopaminergic tone, including Parkinson's disease and chronic pain.

The normal estrus in weaned primiparous sows has a great impact on pig production and abnormal estrus is the main reason for the elimination of primiparous sows. In this study, we studied the long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis of anestrous and estrous primiparous sows. These long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) were screened and compared through RNA-seq analysis. The expression profiles of lincRNAs were obtained and their characteristics and functions were preliminarily analyzed. There are 3519 novel lincRNAs identified in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis of anestrous and estrous primiparous sows. Compared with estrous primiparous sows, 17 differentially expressed lincRNAs were indentified, including 12 up-regulated lincRNAs and 5 down-regulated lincRNAs (FC≥2, P<0.05). The four lincRNA transcripts obtained through selection were verified by qRT-PCR, which are consistent with the RNA-seq results. The GO, KEGG pathway, and lincRNA-mRNA co-expression network analysis of these 17 lincRNAs revealed that these lincRNAs were mainly involved in reproductive activities, such as oocyte meiosis mature, ovarian cells differentiation and granulosa cells apoptosis. The results enriched the data resources of pig lincRNAs and provided useful information for further research about the reproductive performance of primiparous sows.

BACKGROUND: Persistent or recurrent haemospermia often occurs in individuals with ejaculatory duct obstruction (EDO). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transurethral resection of the ejaculatory duct (TURED) combined with seminal vesiculoscopy in treating persistent or recurrent haemospermia in men with EDO. METHODS: From June 2014 to March 2018, 103 consecutive patients with EDO who underwent TURED combined with seminal vesiculoscopy for persistent or recurrent haemospermia at the Department of Urology of West China Hospital were enrolled into this retrospective study. The patients were evaluated mainly by detailed history-taking and performing semen analysis, transrectal ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging. RESULTS: Among the 103 patients, 79 (76.70%) had cysts of the lower male genitourinary tract; 63 (61.17%) had blood clots; and 32 (31.07%) had calculi in the seminal vesicle and/or prostatic utricle. The duration of postoperative follow-up was 12 months, and the symptoms of haemospermia disappeared in 96 (93.20%) patients. There was no significant difference in the semen PH and sperm count before and after surgery; however, the ejaculate volume and sperm motility significantly improved postoperatively. Except for two cases of acute urinary retention and one case of watery ejaculate after surgery, no severe postoperative complications, including epididymitis, urethral stricture, urinary incontinence, retrograde ejaculation, or rectal injury, were observed. CONCLUSION: TURED combined with seminal vesiculoscopy is a suitable method for the diagnosis and treatment of persistent or recurrent haemospermia in men with EDO.

Heavy-ion beam (HIB) irradiation has been widely used in microbial mutation breeding. However, a global cellular response to such radiation remains mostly uncharacterised. In this study, we used transcriptomics to analyse the damage repair response in Saccharomyces cerevisiae following a semi-lethal HIB irradiation (80 Gy), which induced a significant number of DNA double-strand breaks. Our analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from 50 to 150 min post-irradiation revealed that upregulated genes were significantly enriched for gene ontology and Kyoto encyclopaedia of genes and genomes terms related to damage repair response. Based on the number of DEGs, their annotation, and their relative expression, we established that the peak of the damage repair response occurred 75 min post-irradiation. Moreover, we exploited the data from our recent study on X-ray irradiation-induced repair to compare the transcriptional patterns induced by semi-lethal HIB and X-ray irradiations. Although these two radiations have different properties, we found a significant overlap (> 50%) for the DEGs associated with five typical DNA repair pathways and, in both cases, identified homologous recombination repair (HRR) as the predominant repair pathway. Nevertheless, when we compared the relative enrichment of the five DNA repair pathways at the key time point of the repair process, we found that the relative enrichment of HRR was higher after HIB irradiation than after X-ray irradiation. Additionally, the peak stage of HRR following HIB irradiation was ahead of that following X-ray irradiation. Since mutations occur during the DNA repair process, uncovering detailed repair characteristics should further the understanding of the associated mutagenesis features.

BACKGROUND Rupture of intracranial aneurysms (IA) is associated with high rates of mortality around the world. Use of intestinal probiotics can regulate the pathophysiology of aneurysms, but the details of the mechanism involved have been unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS The GEO2R analysis website was used to detect the DEGs between IAs, AAAs, samples after supplementation with probiotics, and normal samples. The online tool DAVID provides functional classification and annotation analyses of associated genes, including GO and KEGG pathway. PPI of these DEGs was analyzed based on the STRING database, followed by analysis using Cytoscape software. RESULTS We found 170 intersecting DEGs (contained in GSE75240 and more than 2 of the 4 aneurysms datasets), 5 intersecting DEGs (contained in all datasets) and 1 intersecting DEG (contained in GSE75240 and all IAs datasets). GO analysis results suggested that the DEGs primarily participate in signal transduction, cell adhesion, immune response, response to drug, extracellular matrix organization, cell-cell signaling, and inflammatory response in the BP terms, and the KEGG pathways are mainly enriched in focal adhesion, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, ECM-receptor interaction, amoebiasis, chemokine signaling pathway, proteoglycans, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway in cancer pathways. Through PPI network analysis, we confirmed 2 candidates for further study: CAV1 and MYH11. These downregulated DEGs are associated with the formation of aneurysms, and the change of these DEGs is the opposite in probiotics-treated animals. CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that MYH11 and CAV1 are potential target genes for prevention of aneurysms. Further experiments are needed to verify these findings.

Roxarsone (3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid) is an extensively used organoarsenic feed additive. The effective removal of arsenic from roxarsone degradation before discharging is of great importance for controlling artificial arsenic pollution in aquatic environment. In this study, a bifunctional TiO2/ferrihydrite (TiO2/FeOOH) hybrid was synthesized by a hydrothermal method for the simultaneously photocatalytic degradation of roxarsone and adsorption removal of released arsenic. The analysis of the prepared TiO2/FeOOH by field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the successful formation of the hybrid of crystalline TiO2 and no crystalline FeOOH. TiO2/FeOOH hybrid had better adsorption capacity for As(V) than roxarsone. Compared to TiO2, the TiO2/FeOOH hybrid exhibited much superior UV-driven photocatalytic activities for roxarsone degradation. After 12 h irradiation, more than 96% of roxarsone was degraded by 1:1 TiO2/FeOOH hybrid, and the released As(V) was simultaneously removed from the solution. The residual As(V) concentration was lower than 0.02 mg L-1. The reusability test indicated that TiO2/FeOOH hybrid had excellent stability and reliability. The possible mechanism of roxarsone degradation and released inorganic arsenics removal by this hybrid was also proposed. These results clearly indicated that the TiO2/FeOOH hybrid could be used for the removal of roxarsone and its degradation product.

Magnetic field (MF) is being used in antitumor treatment; however, the underlying biological mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, the potency and mechanism of a previously published tumor suppressing MF exposure protocol were further investigated. This protocol, characterized as a 50 Hz electromagnetic field modulated by static MF with time-average intensity of 5.1 mT, when applied for 2 h daily for over 3 consecutive days, selectively inhibited the growth of a broad spectrum of tumor cell lines including lung cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer and nephroblastoma. The level of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) increased shortly after field exposure and persisted. Subsequently, pronounced DNA damage and activation of DNA repair pathways were identified both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, use of free radical scavenger alleviated DNA damage and partially reduced cell death. Finally, this field was found to inhibit cell proliferation, and simultaneously induced two types of programmed cell death, apoptosis and ferroptosis. In conclusion, this tumor suppressing MF could determine cell fate through ROS-induced DNA damage, inducing oxidative stress and activation of the DNA damage repair pathways, eventually lead to apoptosis and ferroptosis, as well as inhibition of tumor growth.

Introduction: To establish a predictive model to demonstrate that transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) prolonged survival time in patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage-C HCC.Material and methods: Patients with BCLC stage C HCC treated between January 2009 and April 2016 were included. The training group (n = 336) and control group (n = 141) underwent TACE as a first or supportive treatment. Factors related to survival time were retrospectively analyzed by multivariate logistic regression to establish a predictive model. Validation of the model was undertaken prospectively in a validation group (n = 159) that underwent TACE as first treatment between May 2016 and December 2017.Results: Classification of portal vein tumor thrombus, maximum tumor size, Child-Pugh score, and log alphafoetoprotein levels were independent risk factors included in the mathematical model. Receiver operating characteristic curves confirmed the model was helpful in predicting survival time. The area under the curve was 0.714 (95% confidence interval, 0.659-0.769). A cutoff value of 7.1 months had maximum Youden indeces of 0. 458, sensitivity 62.4%, and specificity 83.8%. The validation group supported the model.Conclusions: Portal vein tumor thrombus, maximum tumor size, Child-Pugh score, and log alphafoetoprotein levels helped predict survival time in patients with BCLC stage-C HCC.

In this study, combined genome, transcriptome, and metabolome analysis was performed for eight Saccharomyces cerevisiae mitochondrial respiration-deficient mutants. Each mutant exhibited a unique nuclear genome mutation pattern; the nuclear genome mutations, and thus potentially affected genes and metabolic pathways, showed a co-occurrence frequency of ≤ 3 among the eight mutants. For example, only a lipid metabolism-related pathway was likely to be affected by the nuclear genome mutations in one of the mutants. However, large deletions in the mitochondrial genome were the shared characteristic among the eight mutants. At the transcriptomic level, lipid metabolism was the most significantly enriched Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway for differentially expressed genes (DEGs) co-occurring in both ≥ 4 and ≥ 5 mutants. Any identified DEG enriched in lipid metabolism showed the same up-/down-regulated pattern among nearly all eight mutants. Further, 126 differentially expressed lipid species (DELS) were identified, which also showed the same up-/down-regulated pattern among nearly all investigated mutants. It was conservatively demonstrated that the similar change pattern of lipid metabolism in the entire investigated mutant population was attributed to mitochondrial dysfunction. The change spectrum of lipid species was presented, suggesting that the number and change degree of up-regulated lipid species were higher than those of down-regulated lipid species. Additionally, energy storage lipids increased in content and plasma-membrane phospholipid compositions varied in the relative proposition. The results for the genome, transcriptome, and lipidome were mutually validated, which provides quantitative data revealing the roles of mitochondria from a global cellular perspective.

In normal metals, macroscopic properties are understood using the concept of quasiparticles. In the cuprate high-temperature superconductors, the metallic state above the highest transition temperature is anomalous and is known as the "strange metal." We studied this state using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. With increasing doping across a temperature-independent critical value p c ~ 0.19, we observed that near the Brillouin zone boundary, the strange metal, characterized by an incoherent spectral function, abruptly reconstructs into a more conventional metal with quasiparticles. Above the temperature of superconducting fluctuations, we found that the pseudogap also discontinuously collapses at the very same value of p c These observations suggest that the incoherent strange metal is a distinct state and a prerequisite for the pseudogap; such findings are incompatible with existing pseudogap quantum critical point scenarios.

Aim: We performed a meta-analysis to explore the efficacy of immunotherapy for patients with squamous non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials & methods: Randomized clinical trials comparing immunotherapy with chemotherapy for advanced NSCLC patients were included. Results: A total of 11 trials (3112 patients) were included. PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors demonstrated significant superiority to chemotherapy in overall survival (OS) (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.74; p < 0.001) and progression-free survival (PFS) (HR: 0.66; p < 0.001) for squamous NSCLC. The OS and PFS benefits of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors for squamous NSCLC were similar in subgroup analyses of line settings, PD-L1 expression and different study methodologies. No advantage in OS was found in advanced squamous NSCLC patients treated with atezolizumab (HR: 0.87; p = 0.087). Conclusion: PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors significantly improved OS and PFS in advanced squamous NSCLC patients when compared with chemotherapy.

A two-ring-based radio over fiber (RoF) transport system with a two-step fiber link failure detection and self-healing algorithm is proposed to ensure quality of service (QoS) by automatically monitoring the health of each fiber link in the transport system and by resourcefully detecting, locating, and bypassing the blocked fiber links. With the assistance of the fiber Bragg grating remote sensing technique, preinstalled optical switches, and novel single-line bidirectional optical add/drop multiplexers, the optical routing pathways in the RoF transport system can be dynamically adjusted by the proposed algorithm when some fiber links are broken. Simulation results show that except in some extreme situations, the proposed algorithm can find the blocked fiber links in the RoF transport system and animatedly adjust the status of preinstalled optical switches to restore all blocked network connections, thereby ensuring QoS in the proposed RoF transport system.

To evaluate the relationship between the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) rs2066853 gene polymorphism and the risk of male infertility. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched for relevant case-control studies up to 31 July 2019. Odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were used to assess the strength of associations. Finally, seven case-control studies involving 1247 cases and 1762 controls were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that there was no significant association between AHR rs2066853 gene polymorphism and male infertility risk (A vs. G: OR = 1.08, 95% CI = 0.83-1.39; AA vs. GG: OR = 1.16, 95% CI = 0.65-2.04; AA vs. GA + GG: OR = 1.17, 95% CI = 0.66-2.07; AA + GA vs. GG: OR = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.85-1.15). Subgroup analysis by ethnicity showed the same result. However, significant association was found between AHR rs2066853 gene polymorphism and male infertility risk in oligoasthenotspermia (A vs. G: OR = 2.52, 95% CI = 1.72-3.70). In conclusion, our meta-analysis indicated that AHR rs2066853 gene polymorphism might be associated with an increased susceptibility to oligoasthenotspermia.

Lipophagy degrades lipid droplets (LDs) through the lysosomal degradative pathway, thus plays important roles in regulating lipid metabolism in mammals. However, information on the existence and functions of lipophagy in fish lipid metabolism is still limited. In the present study, we confirmed the existence of lipophagy by observing the structures of LDs sequestered in autophagic vacuoles in the zebrafish liver cell line (ZFL) via electronic microscopy. Moreover, starved cells increased the mRNA expression of the microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B light chain 3 beta (LC3), which is a marker protein for autophagy and protein conversion from LC3-I to LC3-II. Inhibiting autophagy with chloroquine increased significantly the LDs content and decreased fatty acid ß-oxidation and esterification activities in the ZFL cells cultured in the fed state. Furthermore, inhibiting autophagy function downregulated the mRNA expression of the genes and their proteins related to lipid metabolism. Altogether, the present study verified the existence of lipophagy and its essential regulatory roles in lipid metabolism in fish cells.

RESUMO

A useful and convenient method for C-H bond arylation of 8-aminoquinoline motifs on the remote C4 position was developed. This method shows good functional group tolerance toward various Grignard reagents and aminoquinoline via a nickel catalysis, giving the desired arylated products in good yields. The present method affords an efficient access to construct multisubstituted aminoquinolines.

BACKGROUND: Number of studies have been performed to investigate the relationship between the CYP1A1 rs4646903 polymorphism and male infertility risk, but the sample size was small and the results were conflicting. A meta-analysis was performed to assess these associations. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted to identify all relevant studies from Medline, Web of science, Embase, China biology medical literature database (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang and Weipu (VIP) databases up to June 30, 2018. The odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess the strength of associations. All of the statistical analyses were conducted using Revman 5.3 and Stata 14.0. RESULTS: Ten studies involved 3028 cases and 3258 controls. Overall, significant association was observed between the CYP1A1 rs4646903 polymorphism and male infertility (C vs T: OR = 1.42, 95%CI = 1.14-1.76; CC vs TT: OR = 2.13, 95%CI = 1.36-3.34; CC vs CT+TT: OR = 1.96, 95%CI = 1.30-2.95; CC+CT vs TT: OR = 1.51, 95%CI = 1.16-1.97). In subgroup analysis by ethnic group, a statistically significant association was observed in Asians (C vs T: OR = 1.59, 95%CI = 1.22-2.08), but not in Non-Asians (C vs T: OR = 1.01, 95%CI = 0.79-1.30). Additionally, none of the individual studies significantly affected the association between CYP1A1 rs4646903 polymorphism and male infertility, according to sensitivity analysis. CONCLUSION: Our meta-analysis supports that the CYP1A1 rs4646903 polymorphism might contribute to individual susceptibility to male infertility in Asians.

Environmental estrogenic compounds are important pollutants, which are widely distributed in natural water bodies. They produce various adverse effects on fish, but their concentration-dependent toxicities in fish metabolism and health are not fully understood. This study investigated the effects of 17ß-estradiol (E2) and bisphenol A (BPA) at low and high concentrations on lipid deposition, inflammation and antioxidant response in male zebrafish. We measured fish growth parameters, gonad development, lipid contents and the activities of inflammatory and antioxidant enzymes, as well as their mRNA expressions. All E2 and BPA concentrations used increased body weight, damaged gonad structure and induced feminization in male zebrafish. The exposure of zebrafish to E2 and BPA promoted lipid accumulation by increasing total fat, liver triglycerides and free fatty acid contents, and also upregulated lipogenic genes expression, although they decreased total cholesterol content. Notably, zebrafish exposed to low concentrations of E2 (200 ng/L) and BPA (100 µg/L) had higher lipid synthesis and deposition compared to high concentrations (2000 ng/L and 2000 µg/L, respectively). However, the high concentrations of E2 and BPA increased inflammation and antioxidant response. Furthermore, BPA caused greater damage to fish gonad development and more severe lipid peroxidation compared to E2. Overall, the results suggest that the toxic effects of E2 and BPA on zebrafish are concentration-dependent such that, the relative low concentrations used induced lipid deposition, whereas the high ones caused adverse effects on inflammation and antioxidant response.
