RESUMO

NiBr2 reacts with 3-hexyne in the presence of Mg and EtOH to give the cyclobutadiene bromide complex [(C4Et4)NiBr2]2, which serves as a general precursor for various cyclobutadiene nickel compounds. In particular, complexes with 2-electron ligands (C4Et4)Ni(L)Br2 (L = PPh3, P(OMe)3, pyridine), complexes with bidentate ligands [(C4Et4)Ni(L2)Br]PF6 (L2 = bipyridine, phenanthroline), and nickelacarborane (C4Et4)NiC2B9H11 were obtained from [(C4Et4)NiBr2]2 in 70-95% yields. The reactions of [(C4Et4)NiBr2]2 with an excess of strong ligands, such as tBuNC or dppe, led to the displacement of cyclobutadiene. The structures of the five compounds have been established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The previously reported data on cyclobutadiene nickel complexes have been also reviewed.

RESUMO

Ruthenocene-based PCPtBu pincer ligands were used to synthesize novel pincer palladium chloride RcF[PCPtBu]PdCl (2a) and two novel palladium tetrahydroborates RcF[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) (3a) and Rc*[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) (3b), where RcF[PCPtBu] = κ3-{2,5-(tBu2PCH2)2-C5H2}Ru(CpF) (CpF = C5Me4CF3), and Rc*[PCPtBu] = κ3-{2,5-(tBu2PCH2)2C5H2}Ru(Cp*) (Cp* = C5Me5). These coordination compounds were characterized by X-ray, NMR and FTIR techniques. Analysis of the X-ray data shows that an increase of the steric bulk of non-metalated cyclopentadienyl ring in 3a and 3b relative to non-substituted Rc[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) analogue (3c; where Rc[PCPtBu] = κ3-{2,5-(tBu2PCH2)2C5H2}Ru(Cp), Cp = C5H5) pushes palladium atom from the middle plane of the metalated Cp ring in the direction opposite to the ruthenium atom. This displacement increases in the order 3c < 3b < 3a following the order of the Cp-ring steric volume increase. The analysis of both X-ray and IR data suggests that BH4 ligand in both palladium tetrahydroborates 3a and 3b has the mixed coordination mode η1,2. The strength of the BH4 bond with palladium atom increases in the order Rc[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) < Rc*[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) < RcF[PCPtBu]Pd(BH4) that appears to be affected by both steric and electronic properties of the ruthenocene moiety.

RESUMO

An efficient route to pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines by Cu(OAc)2-promoted oxidative [3 + 2]-annulation of nitroalkenes with in situ generated pyridinium imines is developed. The reaction with α-fluoronitroalkenes enables the first preparative synthesis of 3-fluoro-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines. Cycloaddition with α-unsubstituted nitroalkenes provides access to 3-nitro-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines in excellent yields. A broad transformation scope was demonstrated. Both electron-rich and electron-deficient nitroalkenes as well as different aminopyridinium salts can be used for the assembly of the target pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines. The related aza-heterocycles, namely, pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazines and pyrazolo[1,5-b]pyridazines, were successfully prepared via the present methodology. The possible mechanism of the reaction is discussed.

Boron-cross-linked cobalt(II) pseudoclathrochelate was obtained by the template reaction of 2-acetylpyrazoloxime, phenylboronic acid, and a new DMF cobalt(II) solvato complex with a decachloro-closo-decaborate dianion. As confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, this complex crystallizes with two symmetry-independent cobalt(II) pseudoclathrochelate cations, one decachloro-closo-decaborate dianion, one benzene, one dichloromethane solvent molecule, and two molecules of DMF. The latter act as pseudocapping fragments to the monocapped tris-pyrazoloximate ligands by forming N-H···O hydrogen bonds with their pyrazole groups. The CoIIN6-coordination polyhedra adopt a nearly ideal TP geometry with distortion angles φ equal to 1.22(16) and 2.58(17)° for two symmetry-independent pseudoclathrochelate cations, both containing the encapsulated cobalt(II) ion in its high-spin state (Co-N 2.115(4)-2.198(3) Å). Magnetic properties of this complex were studied both by dc-magnetometry and by solution-state NMR spectroscopy to reveal a high magnetic anisotropy, thus suggesting a large magnetic susceptibility tensor anisotropy (25.8 × 10-32 m3 at 298 K) and a large negative zero-field splitting energy (-85 cm-1). The results of magnetometry studies in the ac magnetic field suggest a single molecule magnet behavior of this TP complex with an effective magnetization reversal barrier of approximately 130 cm-1. Its pseudocapping DMF molecules that form H-bonds with tris-pyrazoloximate fragments are easy to substitute by strong H-bond acceptors, such as chloride ions and di- and tetramethylureas, thus affecting the magnetic properties of a whole pseudomacrobicyclic paramagnetic system.

RESUMO

The condensation of primary amines with N-(1-(4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-oxo-2H-pyran-3-yl)-2-oxo-2-arylethyl)acetamides was explored. Thus, a previously unknown recyclization of the starting material was observed in acidic ethanol in the presence of an amine, which provided the corresponding dihydropyrrolone derivative as the major reaction product. Based on this transformation, a practical and convenient one-pot synthetic method for substituted pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5-ones could be devised.

The synthesis and structure of 2,4,6,-tri-cyclo-butyl-1,3,5-trioxane, C15H24O3 1, is described. It was formed in 39% yield during the work-up of the Swern oxidation of cyclo-butyl-methanol and may serve as a stable precursor of the cyclo-butane carbaldehyde. The mol-ecule of 1 occupies a special position (3.m) located at the center of its 1,3,5-trioxane ring. The latter is in a chair conformation, with the symmetry-independent O and C atoms deviating by 0.651 (4) Šfrom the least-squares plane of the other atoms of the trioxane ring. All three cyclo-butane substituents, which have a butterfly conformation with an angle between the two planes of 25.7 (3)°, are in the cis conformation relative to the 1,3,5-trioxane ring. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions between the 1,3,5-trioxane rings consolidate the crystal structure, forming stacks along the c-axis direction. The crystal studied was refined a as a racemic twin.

In this article, comprehensive studies on the nucleophilic chlorination and bromination of readily available six-membered cyclic nitronates (1,2-oxazine-N-oxides) are reported. Under optimized conditions (POCl3 or (COBr)2 with Hünig's base), 3-halo-substituted 1,2-oxazines, which are difficult to access by other routes, were obtained in good to high yields. The latter were shown to be convenient precursors to other 3-substituted 1,2-oxazine derivatives using Lewis/Brønsted acid-assisted substitution of the halide atom for C-, S-, and N-nucleophiles.

RESUMO

A correlation between the equilibrium ratio of tautomeric products generated by the asymmetric Michael reactions of cyclic carbon acids with ß,γ-unsaturated α-keto esters and the chemical shift of the α-proton in starting nucleophilic substrates was revealed which makes equilibration predictable. New tetrahydropyran-fused benzo[a]phenazins were enantioselectively (up to 99% ee) synthesized from ß,γ-unsaturated α-keto esters and benzo[a]phenazin-5-ol, a powerful anti-cancer agent sAJM589. Facile recyclability of catalyst Ia in the catalytic reactions was demonstrated.

RESUMO

Marine polychaetes Odontosyllis undecimdonta, commonly known as fireworms, emit bright blue-green bioluminescence. Until the recent identification of the Odontosyllis luciferase enzyme, little progress had been made toward characterizing the key components of this bioluminescence system. Here we present the biomolecular mechanisms of enzymatic (leading to light emission) and nonenzymatic (dark) oxidation pathways of newly described O. undecimdonta luciferin. Spectral studies, including 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction, of isolated substances allowed us to characterize the luciferin as an unusual tricyclic sulfur-containing heterocycle. Odontosyllis luciferin does not share structural similarity with any other known luciferins. The structures of the Odontosyllis bioluminescent system's low molecular weight components have enabled us to propose chemical transformation pathways for the enzymatic and nonspecific oxidation of luciferin.

RESUMO

A new tandem double acylation/rearrangement reaction of nitro compounds is described. It has a broad substrate scope allowing the mild and efficient synthesis of α-acyloxy oxime esters in high yields and regioselectivity. According to the obtained data, the mechanism for transformation was proposed. The utility of the obtained α-hydroxy oxime esters was demonstrated.

Here we report a combined use of THz-EPR and NMR spectroscopy for obtaining a detailed electronic structure of a long-known high-spin complex, cobalt(ii) bis[tris(pyrazolyl)borate]. The lowest inter-Kramers transition was directly measured by THz-EPR spectroscopy, while the energies of higher Kramers doublets were estimated by a recently proposed NMR-based approach. Together, they produced magnetic parameters for a full model that explicitly includes spin-orbit coupling. This approach is applicable to all transition metal ions for which the spin-orbit coupling cannot be treated perturbatively.

Herein, we report a new trigonal prismatic cobalt(II) complex that behaves as a single molecule magnet. The obtained zero-field splitting, which is also directly accessed by THz-EPR spectroscopy (-102.5 cm-1 ), results in a large magnetization reversal barrier U of 205 cm-1 . Its effective value, however, is much lower (101 cm-1 ), even though there is practically no contribution from quantum tunneling to magnetization relaxation.

RESUMO

A general method for the synthesis of substituted indolizines by copper(ii) acetate-promoted oxidative [3 + 2]-annulation of α-fluoronitroalkenes with in situ generated pyridinium ylides was developed. Application of the copper(ii) acetate-2,6-lutidine system provides efficient access to various 1-fluoroindolizines in up to 81% yield. Both electron-rich and electron-deficient nitroalkenes as well as different pyridinium and isoquinolinium salts can be involved in the reaction. Moreover, it was found that copper-mediated annulation is applicable for other α-substituted (alkyl, chloro, and ester) nitroalkenes giving rise to the corresponding indolizines. First synthesis of monofluorinated [3,2,2]cyclazines was demonstrated via oxidative annulation of 3-unsubstituted fluoroindolizines with diethyl acetylene dicarboxylate.

Zero-field splitting (ZFS) of three high-spin Co(I) ( S = 1) clathrochelate complexes was determined by frequency-domain Fourier-transform THz-EPR (FD-FT THz-EPR). The following axial and rhombic ZFS values ( D and E, respectively) were determined: [N( n-Bu)4]CoI(GmCl2)3(BPh)2 (1, D/ hc = +16.43(1) cm-1, E/ hc = 0.0(1) cm-1), [P(Me2N)4]CoI(GmCl2)3(BPh)2 (2, D/ hc = +16.67(4) cm-1, E/ hc = 0.0(1) cm-1), and [P(C6H5)4]CoI(GmCl2)3(BPh)2 (3, D/ hc = +16.72(2) cm-1, E/ hc = 0.24(3) cm-1). Complementary susceptibility χ T measurements and quantum chemistry calculations on 1 revealed hard-axis-type magnetic anisotropy and allowed for a correlation of ZFS and the electronic structure. Increased rhombicity of 3 as compared to 1 and 2 was assigned to symmetry changes of the ligand structure induced by the change of the counterion. 1 and 3 exhibited temperature-dependent ZFS values. Possible reasons for this phenomenon, such as structural changes and weak chain-like intermolecular antiferromagnetic interactions, are discussed.

RESUMO

Catalytic reaction of arylhydroxamic acids with alkenes represents a convenient method for preparation of biologically active dihydroisoquinolones. Here, the rhodium(III) complex [(C5 H2 tBu2 CH2 tBu)RhCl2 ]2 , which allows one to carry out such reactions with high regioselectivity to obtain 4-substituted dihydroisoquinolones in 72-97 % yields, is described. The regioselectivity is provided by the bulky cyclopentadienyl ligand of the catalyst, which is formed through a [2+2+1] cyclotrimerization of tert-butylacetylene. The catalytic reaction tolerates various distant functional groups in alkenes, but is inhibited by bulky (e.g., tBu) or strongly coordinating (e.g., imidazolyl) substituents. Some of the prepared dihydroisoquinolones effectively inhibit growth of phytopathogenic fungi.

Click-like condensation of boronic acids with specifically designed triols (boronate-triol coupling) produces stable diamantane adducts in aqueous medium, which can be controllably cleaved to initial components under acidic conditions or by using boric acid as a chemical trigger. This novel "click-declick" strategy allows for the creation of temporary covalent connections between two or more modular units, which was demonstrated by the synthesis of new fluorophore-labeled natural molecules (peptides, steroids), supramolecular assemblies, modified polymers, boronic acid scavengers, solid-supported organocatalysts, biodegradable COF-like materials, and dynamic combinatorial libraries.

RESUMO

Acylation of nitronates affords α-acyloxyoxime derivatives via an umpolung functionalization of the α-position. This transformation involves generation of hitherto unknown N-acyloxy, N-oxyenamines and their fast [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement driven by the cleavage of the weak N-O bond. The reaction has a broad scope, and it is regioselective in the case of nitronates possessing nonsymmetrically substituted α-positions. Application to the formal total synthesis of clausenamide and cis-clausenamide is presented.

RESUMO

An efficient method for the CF3-carbenoid C-H functionalization of 6-arylpurines has been developed. This protocol uses readily available methyl 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-diazopropionate as a cross-coupling partner and proceeds smoothly under chelation-controlled Rh(iii) catalysis. The reactions provide the corresponding carbene insertion products with high regioselectivity within a few hours and allow the introduction of both the CF3 and carboxylate functions into biologically important purine molecules including nucleoside derivatives.

The rapid development of enantioselective C-H activation reactions has created a demand for new types of catalysts. Herein, we report the synthesis of a novel planar-chiral rhodium catalyst [(C5 H2t Bu2 CH2t Bu)RhI2 ]2 in two steps from commercially available [(cod)RhCl]2 and tert-butylacetylene. Pure enantiomers of the catalyst were obtained through separation of its diastereomeric adducts with natural (S)-proline. The catalyst promoted enantioselective reactions of aryl hydroxamic acids with strained alkenes to give dihydroisoquinolones in high yields (up to 97 %) and with good stereoselectivity (up to 95 % ee).

RESUMO

The first synthesized and X-ray structurally characterized "classical" iron(i) dioximate showed an unrivaled stability towards strong acids, thus calling for a reassessment of the origins of the electrocatalytic activity of similar low-valent cobalt and iron cage complexes with electron-withdrawing ribbed substituents, shown previously to be effective electrocatalysts of the HER.
