RESUMO

Significant improvements in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) during the past three years have urged the timely update of clinical guidelines in China. In brief, aMAP score is newly recommended as an effective risk stratification tool to predict HCC occurrence especially for non-cirrhotic patients. Biomarker-based surveillance including 7 micro-RNA panel and GALAD score are advocated to assist early diagnosis. China liver cancer (CNLC) staging system proposed in the 2017 guideline continues to be the standard model for staging with modifications in the treatment allocations. Conversion therapies using multi-modal, high intensity strategies are advocated to facilitate subsequent resection for patients with technically unresectable CNLC stage Ia, Ib, IIa HCC, or technically resectable IIb, IIIa HCC. Super-selective transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) with the assistance of Cone-Beam CT if necessary is recommended to guarantee the efficacy of TACE. Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) using oxaliplatin, fluorouracil, and leucovorin (FOLFOX) regimen alone or in combination with systemic therapy is recommended for TACE-refractory patients or for patients with locally advanced HCC. The systemic treatments for HCC have evolved considerably since atezolizumab plus bevacizumab, and suntilimab plus bevacizumab analogue showing superior survival benefit to sorafenib, and donafenib with comparable efficacy with sorafenib are added to the first-line treatments. In addition to regorafenib, apatinib, camrelizumab and tislelizumab are added as the second-line systemic therapies for patients who progressed on sorafenib. Updates in the 2022 Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) guidelines and Japanese Society of Hepatology (JSH) consensus statement are also introduced and compared with the 2022 Chinese guidelines.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to verify the moderating roles of lifestyle factors and age between body mass index (BMI), BMI trajectory and depressive symptoms of Chinese adults through a prospective design. METHODS: The participants who are 18 years old and above from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) were included in the 2016 baseline and 2018 follow-up research. BMI was calculated according to self-report weight (kilogram) and height (centimeter). Depressive symptoms were evaluated via the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CESD-20) scale. Inverse probability-of-censoring weighted estimation (IPCW) was used to check whether selection bias existed. Modified Poisson regression was performed to calculate prevalence and risk ratios as well as 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: After adjustment, it was found that the positive associations of persistent underweight (RR = 1.154, P < 0.001) and normal weight → underweight (RR = 1.143, P < 0.001) with 2018 depressive symptoms were significant among middle-aged people, while the negative association of persistent overweight/obesity (RR = 0.972, P < 0.001) was significant in young adults. Notably, smoking moderated the relationship between baseline BMI and subsequent depressive symptoms (interaction P = 0.028). Also, exercise regularly and exercise duration weekly moderated the relationships of baseline BMI (interaction P = 0.004 and 0.015) and trajectories of BMI (interaction P = 0.008 and 0.011) with depressive symptoms among Chinese adults, respectively. CONCLUSION: Weight management strategies for underweight and normal weight → underweight adults should pay attention to the role of exercise in maintaining normal weight and improving depressive symptoms.

RESUMO

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, non-specific, recurrent inflammatory disease, majorly affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Due to its unclear pathogenesis, the current therapeutic strategy for IBD is focused on symptoms alleviation. Autophagy is a lysosome-mediated catabolic process for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Genome-wide association studies and subsequent functional studies have highlighted the critical role of autophagy in IBD via a number of mechanisms, including modulating macrophage function. Macrophages are the gatekeepers of intestinal immune homeostasis, especially involved in regulating inflammation remission and tissue repair. Interestingly, many autophagic proteins and IBD-related genes have been revealed to regulate macrophage function, suggesting that macrophage autophagy is a potentially important process implicated in IBD regulation. Here, we have summarized current understanding of macrophage autophagy function in pathogen and apoptotic cell clearance, inflammation remission and tissue repair regulation in IBD, and discuss how this knowledge can be used as a strategy for IBD treatment.

RESUMO

Background: The insertion/deletion polymorphism (InDel), an ideal forensic genetic marker with a low spontaneous mutation rate and small amplification product fragments, is widely distributed in the genome, combining the advantages of STR and SNP genetic markers. The X-chromosome has high application value in complex paternity testing, and it is an excellent system for evaluating population admixture and studying evolutionary anthropology. However, further research is needed on the population genetics of X-chromosome InDels (X-InDels). Methods: In this article, a system composed of 38 X-InDel loci was utilized to analyse and evaluate the forensic parameters of the Guizhou Han population in order to explore its forensic application efficiency. Results: The results showed that expected heterozygosities spanned from 0.0189 to 0.5715, and the cumulative power of discrimination of the 32 X-InDels and three linkage blocks was 0.9999999954 and 0.999999999999741 for males and females, respectively. The combined mean exclusion chance of these loci for trios and duos is 0.999999 and 0.999747, respectively. Multiple methods like principal component analysis, Fst genetic distance, and phylogenetic reconstruction were employed for dissecting the genetic structure of the Guizhou Han population by comparing it with previously reported populations. As expected, the studied Han population displayed relatively close genetic affinities with the East Asian populations. At the same time, there were obvious genetic differentiations between the Guizhou Han population and other continental populations that were discerned, especially for the African populations. Conclusions: This study further verified the applicability of 38 X-InDels for human personal identification and kinship analyses of Han Chinese, and also showed the application potential of X-InDels in population genetics.

RESUMO

Advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has a dismal prognosis. Here, we report the efficacy and safety of combining toripalimab, lenvatinib, and gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin (GEMOX) as first-line therapy for advanced ICC. Thirty patients with pathologically confirmed advanced ICC received intravenous gemcitabine (1 g/m2) on Days 1 and 8 and oxaliplatin (85 mg/m2) Q3W for six cycles along with intravenous toripalimab (240 mg) Q3W and oral lenvatinib (8 mg) once daily for one year. The expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and genetic status was investigated in paraffin-embedded tissues using immunohistochemistry and whole-exome sequencing (WES) analysis. The primary endpoint was the objective response rate (ORR). Secondary outcomes included safety, overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), disease control rate (DCR) and duration of response (DoR). As of July 1, 2022, the median follow-up time was 23.5 months, and the ORR was 80%. Twenty-three patients achieved partial response, and one achieved complete response. Patients (21/30) with DNA damage response (DDR)-related gene mutations showed a higher ORR, while patients (14/30) with tumor area positivity ≥1 (PD-L1 staining) showed a trend of high ORR, but without significant difference. The median OS, PFS, and DoR were 22.5, 10.2, and 11.0 months, respectively. The DCR was 93.3%. Further, 56.7% of patients experienced manageable grade ≥3 adverse events (AEs), commonly neutropenia (40.0%) and leukocytopenia (23.3%). In conclusion, toripalimab plus lenvatinib and GEMOX are promising first-line regimens for the treatment of advanced ICC. A phase-III, multicenter, double-blinded, randomized study to validate our findings was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA, No. 2021LP01825).Trial registration Clinical trials: NCT03951597.

RESUMO

Immune-related adverse events (irAEs) clinically resemble autoimmune diseases, indicating autoantibodies could be potential biomarkers for the prediction of irAEs. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of peripheral blood antinuclear antibody (ANA) status for irAEs, considering the time and severity of irAEs, as well as treatment outcome in liver cancer patients administered anti-PD-1 therapy. Ninety-three patients with advanced primary liver cancer administered anti-PD-1 treatment were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into the ANA positive (ANA+, titer ≥ 1:100) and negative (ANA-, titer < 1:100) groups. Development of irAEs, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) were assessed. Compared with ANA- patients, ANA+ cases were more prone to develop irAEs (43.3% vs. 19.2%, P = 0.031). With the increase of ANA titers, the frequency of irAEs increased. The time interval between anti-PD-1 therapy and the onset of irAEs was significantly shorter in ANA+ patients compared with the ANA- group (median, 1.7 months vs. 5.0 months, P = 0.022). Moreover, the time between anti-PD-1 therapy and irAE occurrence decreased with increasing ANA titer. In addition, PFS and OS were decreased in ANA+ patients compared with the ANA- group (median PFS, 2.8 months vs. 4.2 months, P = 0.043; median OS, 21.1 months vs. not reached, P = 0.041). IrAEs occur at higher frequency in ANA+ liver cancer patients undergoing anti-PD-1 therapy. ANA titer could help predict irAE development and treatment outcome in these patients.

RESUMO

The laser remelting technique was applied to the surface modification of the Al0.65CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) to further advance its mechanical potential. The microstructure of the remelted layer was refined from coarse dendritic to submicron-scale basket weave compared with the as-cast substrate, resulting in a 1.8-time increase in Vickers microhardness. The nanoindentation tests indicated that the nanohardness of the remelted layer was higher than that of each phase in the substrate. Meanwhile, the remelted layer retained considerable plasticity, as evidenced by its high Wp/Wt ratio (0.763) and strain hardening exponent (0.302). Additionally, adhesive wear prevailed on the substrate, while only abrasive wear features were observed on the remelted layer. Accordingly, the average friction coefficient and the wear rate of the remelted layer were minimized by 23% and 80%, respectively, compared with the substrate. Our findings explored an industrialized method to enhance the surface properties of the Al0.65CoCrFeNi HEA and also provided some helpful references for its laser additive manufacturing.

RESUMO

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-lasting inflammatory disease that usually involves joints, but it can also affect other organs, including the skin and lungs. In this case, it is important to maintain a balance between beneficial pro-inflammatory activity and harmful overactivation of the T helper cells (Th). We strive to investigate in this study the possibilities for the effect of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)-derived exosomes containing miR-146a/miR-155 on the lymphocyte population and function. Methods: Exosomes were isolated from overexpressed miR-146a/miR-155 MSCs for the purpose of this analysis. Splenocytes were isolated from collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) and control mice. It was important to consider the expressions of certain predominant autoimmune-response genes, including T-bet and interferon-γ (IFNγ), by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. It turned out to be a significant consideration with p < 0.05. Results: The results are expressed in percentages with respect to miR-146a/AntimiR-155 transduced MSC-derived exosomes treatment, which significantly decreased the mRNA expression level of IFNγ in healthy mice (p < 0.05). miR-146a transduced MSC-derived exosomes treatment significantly reduced the mRNA expression level of IFNγ in CIA mice (p < 0.05). It should be noted that the secretion of the pro-inflammatory factor IFNγ in CIA mice was inhibited in almost all groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Many research groups have mainly focused on strategies for reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. This approach was recently suggested and investigated in our research team and suggested that manipulation of MSCs-derived exosomes could minimize pro-inflammatory cytokine production to strike a balance among Th subsets. These approaches tend to appear to achieve better results in the regulation of the immune system by the use of engineered exosomes derived from MSCs. By providing accurate information the reasonably practicable use of exosomes for cell-free therapy can be established.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Insertion/deletion polymorphism (InDel), as the third genetic marker, has been given a lot of attention by forensic geneticists since it has the advantages of extensive distributions in the human genome, small amplicon, and low mutation rate. However, the extant InDel panels were only viewed as supplemental tools for kinship analyses. In addition, these panels were not conductive to mixture deconvolution because InDels in these panels mainly displayed two alleles. AIMS: The purpose of this study is to investigate genetic distributions of a novel panel of InDels and STRs in the Guizhou Han population; assess the forensic application value of the panel; and conduct population genetic analyses of the Guizhou Han and other reference populations based on the overlapping loci. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The bloodstain samples of 209 Guizhou Han were gathered and genotyped by the novel panel. Allelic frequencies and forensic parameters of two miniSTRs and 59 InDels in the panel were estimated. In addition, we assessed phylogenetic relationships among the Guizhou Han and other reference populations by principal component analysis, DA genetic distance, and neighbor-joining tree. RESULTS: A total of 139 alleles of 61 loci could be observed in the Guizhou Han population. Polymorphic information content values of 59 InDels were greater than 0.3 in the Guizhou Han population. The cumulative power of discrimination and probability of exclusion of two miniSTRs and 59 InDels in the Guizhou Han population were 0.999999999999999999999999997984 and 0.9999986, respectively. Principal component analysis of 14 populations showed that the Guizhou Han population located closer to Hunan Han and Southern Han Chinese (CHS) populations. Similar results were also discerned from DA genetic distances and the neighbor-joining tree. CONCLUSION: To sum up, the novel panel could be employed for forensic personal identification and paternity testing in the Guizhou Han population as a promising independent tool. Besides, the principal component analysis and phylogenetic tree of the Guizhou Han and other compared populations revealed that the Guizhou Han population possesses close genetic affinities with Hunan Han, CHS, and Han Chinese in Beijing (CHB) populations.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Despite a great deal of existing research on nurses' job stress and intention to stay, it is still unclear how the association between Chinese nurses' job stress and intention to stay is affected by presenteeism and family functioning. AIMS: This study aimed to investigate the correlations of Chinese nurses' job stress, presenteeism, and family functioning with their intention to stay and clarify the mediating effect of presenteeism and the moderating effect of family functioning on the association between their job stress and intention to stay. METHOD: A cross-sectional study of 1,008 nurses was performed in a major general hospital in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, China. The participants were invited to engage in a questionnaire survey regarding job stress, presenteeism, family functioning, and intention to stay. A moderated mediation analysis was conducted through multiple linear regression analysis and the PROCESS macro. RESULTS: Job stress and presenteeism were negatively correlated with intention to stay, whereas family functioning was positively correlated with intention to stay. The effect of job stress on intention to stay was partially mediated by presenteeism (Effect = -0.147, 95% CI = [-0.305, -0.003]). In addition, family functioning moderated the direct effect of job stress on intention to stay (Index = -0.134, 95% CI = [-0.274, -0.001]). CONCLUSIONS: Presenteeism and family functioning were found to play mediating and moderating roles, respectively, in the relationship between job stress and intention to stay. Relevant interventions or family-friendly programs should be developed to enhance nurses' intention to stay.

RESUMO

Warm temperatures induce plant bolting accompanied by flower initiation, where endogenous auxin is dynamically associated with accelerated growth. Auxin signaling is primarily regulated by a family of plant-specific transcription factors, AUXIN RESPONSE FACTORS (ARFs), which either activate or repress the expression of downstream genes in response to developmental and environmental cues. However, the relationship between ARFs and bolting has not been completely understood in lettuce yet. Here, we identified 24 LsARFs (Lactuca sativa ARFs) in the lettuce genome. The phylogenetic tree indicated that LsARFs could be classified into three clusters, which was well supported by the analysis of exon-intron structure, consensus motifs, and domain compositions. RNA-Seq analysis revealed that more than half of the LsARFs were ubiquitously expressed in all tissues examined, whereas a small number of LsARFs responded to UV or cadmium stresses. qRT-PCR analysis indicated that the expression of most LsARFs could be activated by more than one phytohormone, underling their key roles as integrative hubs of different phytohormone signaling pathways. Importantly, the majority of LsARFs displayed altered expression profiles under warm temperatures, implying that their functions were tightly associated with thermally accelerated bolting in lettuce. Importantly, we demonstrated that silencing of LsARF8a, expression of which was significantly increased by elevated temperatures, resulted in delayed bolting under warm temperatures, suggesting that LsARF8a might conduce to the thermally induced bolting. Together, our results provide molecular insights into the LsARF gene family in lettuce, which will facilitate the genetic improvement of the lettuce in an era of global warming.

RESUMO

Nurses' mental health is related to the quality of medical care and the outcome of treatment, and has become an important issue in nursing management. However, the role of burnout in the relationship between job satisfaction and psychological distress have not been evaluated. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of psychological distress among Chinese nurses and explore the associations of job satisfaction and burnout with psychological distress. A cross-sectional survey of 866 nurses was conducted in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province of China. Job satisfaction, burnout, and psychological distress were assessed via the single-item, the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey, and the 12-item General Health Questionnaire respectively, followed by a mediation analysis through the multiple regression analysis and a PROCESS macro method. The prevalence of psychological distress was 35.2% among the participants. After controlling the potential confounding factors, job satisfaction and burnout were found to be still associated with psychological distress (P < 0.001). Furthermore, psychological distress was negatively correlated with both job satisfaction (r = -0.312) and personal accomplishment (r = -0.422) but positively correlated with both emotional exhaustion (r = 0.491) and depersonalization (r = 0.449). Burnout may mediate the association between job satisfaction and psychological distress (B = 0.139, ß = 0.440, P < 0.001 for emotional exhaustion; B = 0.226, ß = 0.382, P < 0.001 for depersonalization; and B = -0.105, ß = -0.368, P < 0.001 for personal accomplishment). The mental health status of Chinese nurses remains to be improved. Low job satisfaction and burnout could increase the risk of psychological distress among Chinese nurses. Moreover, job satisfaction may partially affect psychological distress among Chinese nurses through emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, and depersonalization. RESUMO

Due to the potential economic benefits, pedestrian flow is considered an essential indication of public spaces. Pedestrian flow prediction is designed to assist operators in making decisions (such as shopping center owners). Operators hold certain events, such as sales promotions, to attract surrounding pedestrians; we refer to this type of event as a business event. Business events attract pedestrian flows, which means business opportunities for the merchants. Moreover, their placement will affect the distributions of the pedestrian flows. However, deciding which route is chosen for a specified event is difficult. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to consider business events when predicting pedestrian flow. In this paper, we investigate two problems: one is pedestrian flow prediction with business events, and the other is route recommendation for business events. First, we propose an Attraction-Based Matrix Factorization model (ABMF) to efficiently predict the pedestrian flow with business events, which introduces the attraction index of different categories to pedestrians in matrix factorization. Second, we leverage the Skip-gram mode to learn the latent representations and improve the pair-wise ranking loss to a flow-aware-based method (SG-FWARP), which aims to learn events' latent representations for route recommendation. Compared with other state-of-the-art methods, the experimental results show ABMF can predict pedestrian flow matrix with a similarity of over 0.9 compared with the ground truth, and SG-FWARP can recommend routes for business events with high accuracy.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Cholelithiasis represents a known risk factor for digestive system neoplasm. Few studies reported the association between cholelithiasis and the risk of prostate cancer (PCa), and the results were controversial. METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University Hospital to perform a retrospective matched case-control study, which included newly diagnosed 221 PCa patients and 219 matched controls. Logistic regression was applied to compare cholelithiasis exposure and adjusted for confounding factors. Additionally, we conducted a meta-analysis pooling this and published studies further to evaluate the association between cholelithiasis and PCa risk. Related ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were used to assess the strength of associations. RESULTS: Our case-control study showed that cholelithiasis was associated with a higher incidence of PCa (OR = 1.87, 95% CI: 1.06-3.31) after multivariable adjustment for covariates. The incidence of PCa was increased in patients with gallstones but not cholecystectomy. 7 studies involving 80,403 individuals were included in the meta-analysis. Similarly, the results demonstrated that cholelithiasis was associated with an increased risk of PCa (RR = 1.35, 95%CI: 1.17-1.56) with moderate-quality evidence. Cholelithiasis patients with low BMI increased the PCa incidence. Moreover, Subgroup analysis based on region showed that cholelithiasis was associated with PCa in Europe (RR = 1.24, 95%CI 1.03-1.51) and Asia (RR = 1.32, 95%CI 1.24-1.41). CONCLUSIONS: The results suggested an association between cholelithiasis and the risk of PCa. There was no significant relationship between cholecystectomy therapy and PCa risk. Further cohort studies should be conducted to demonstrate the results better.

RESUMO

Objectives: This study aims to explore the associations of personality traits and extra-family social relationship with depressive symptoms among Chinese adults. Methods: A nationally representative sample of 29,810 adults aged 16 and above were selected from 2018 CFPS. Personality and depressive symptoms were measured using CBF-PI-15 and the CES-D8 scale. Extra-family social relationship was assessed through the self-rated evaluation. The multiple regression analysis and the PROCESS macro were used for the mediation analysis. Results: Extraversion (OR = 0.807, 95% CI = 0.773, 0.842), agreeableness (OR = 0.795, 95% CI = 0.756, 0.835) and extra-family social relationship (OR = 0.927, 95% CI = 0.913, 0.941) had negative associations with depressive symptoms. Extra-family social relationship could mediate between extraversion and depressive symptoms (Indirect effect = -0.049,95% CI = -0.060, -0.039) as well as agreeableness (Indirect effect = -0.056, 95% CI = -0.068, -0.046) and depressive symptoms. Comparing to females, the indirect effect accounts for a higher proportion of total effect in males. Conclusion: Extra-family social relationship might mediate the association between extraversion and depressive symptoms as well as agreeableness and depressive symptoms.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Dong people in Southwest China are officially recognised as an ethnic group, but there has been a lack of population genetic research on this group, especially based on mitochondrial DNA data. AIM: To study the sequences and haplogroups of the mitochondrial DNA control region in a typical Dong population, and to provide help for the construction of a forensic mitochondrial DNA analysis reference database in East Asia. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The sequences of the mitochondrial DNA control region were analysed in 200 individuals of Dong in Guizhou. The haplotype frequencies, haplogroup distribution and paired Fst values of Guizhou Dong and 51 other populations in the world were calculated and explained to explore the genetic polymorphism and population relationships. RESULTS: A total of 180 haplotypes were detected, with frequencies of 0.005-0.02. All haplotypes were assigned to 97 different haplogroups. The haplotype diversity and random matching probability were 0.998643 and 0.00635, respectively. The paired Fst values and correlation p values of 52 populations showed that the Guizhou Dong had the closest genetic relationship with the Henan Han and the Guizhou Miao in China, and were closest to the Punjab population in Pakistan and the Kashmiri population when compared with the world populations. CONCLUSIONS: Our study was based on the matrilineal genetic structure of Guizhou Dong to study mitochondrial DNA, which was helpful to promote the establishment of the forensic DNA reference database in East Asia and provide reference for anthropological research.

RESUMO

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a leafy vegetable whose edible organs usually are leaf or stems, and thus high-temperature induced bolting followed by flower initiation is an undesirable trait in lettuce production. However, the molecular mechanism that controls lettuce bolting and flowering upon thermal treatments is largely unknown. Here, we identified a Lettuce auxin response factor 3 (LsARF3), the expression of which was enhanced by heat and auxin treatments. Interestingly, LsARF3 is preferentially expressed in stem apex, suggesting it might be associated with lettuce bolting. Transgenic lettuce overexpressing LsARF3 displayed early bolting and flowering, whereas knockout of LsARF3 dramatically delayed bolting and flowering in lettuce under normal or high temperature conditions. Furthermore, Exogenous application of IAA failed to rescue the late-bolting and -flowering phenotype of lsarf3 mutants. Several floral integrator genes including LsCO, LsFT, and LsLFY were co-expressed with LsARF3 in the overexpression and knockout lettuce plants. Yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) experiments suggested that LsARF3 could physically interact with the LsCO promoter, which was further confirmed by a dual luciferase assay in tobacco leaves. The results indicated that LsARF3 might directly modulate the expression of LsCO in lettuce. Therefore, these results demonstrate that LsARF3 could promote lettuce bolting in response to the high temperature by directly or indirectly activating the expression of floral genes such as LsCO, which provides new insights into lettuce bolting in the context of ARFs signaling and heat response.

RESUMO

Kagome metals are an exciting playground for the explorations of novel phenomena at the intersection of topology, electron correlations and magnetism. The family of FeSn-based kagome magnets in particular attracted a lot of attention for simplicity of the layered crystal structure and tunable topological electronic band structure. Despite a significant progress in understanding their bulk properties, surface electronic and magnetic structures are yet to be fully explored in many of these systems. In this work, we focus on a prototypical kagome metal FeSn. Using a combination of spin-averaged and spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy, we provide the first atomic-scale visualization of the layered antiferromagnetic structure at the surface of FeSn. In contrast to the field-tunable electronic structure of cousin material Fe3Sn2 that is a ferromagnet, we find that electronic density-of-states of FeSn is robust to the application of external magnetic field. Interestingly, despite the field insensitive electronic band structure, FeSn exhibits bound states tied to specific impurities with large effective moments that strongly couple to the magnetic field. Our experiments provide microscopic insights necessary for theoretical modeling of FeSn and serve as a spring board for spin-polarized measurements of topological magnets in general.

RESUMO

Background: High technical complexity limits the wide use of transradial approach (TRA) chemoembolization in the management of liver cancer. We sought to construct a thoracoabdominal aorta CTA-based nomogram model to identify ideal candidates for TRA chemoembolization in patients with liver cancer. Methods: Patients who had received thoracoabdominal aorta CTA before TRA chemoembolization from 2018 to 2020 were retrospectively enrolled and randomly divided into a training set and a validation set. The clinical characteristics and CTA features were collected to build a clinical model. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify significant clinical-radiological variables. A CTA-based nomogram model was constructed by using multivariate logistic regression analysis. The predictive performance, as well as discrimination efficacy of the model, was evaluated by ROC analysis and calibration plot. Results: Vascular variation (P=0.028), Myla classification (P=0.030), length from left subclavian artery to the left subclavian artery (P=0.017), and angle between common hepatic artery and abdominal aorta (P=0.017) were identified as important factors associated with the technical complexity of TRA chemoembolization, indicated by fluoroscopy time of the total procedure. The CTA-based nomogram model was established by these abovementioned variables, which demonstrated good predictive ability in both the training cohort (AUC=0.929) and validation cohort (AUC= 0.769), with a high C-index of 0.928 and 0.827 respectively. Moreover, satisfactory calibrations were confirmed by the Hosmer-Lemeshow test with P values of 0.618 and 0.299 in the training cohort and validation cohort. Conclusion: Our study constructs a novel CTA-based nomogram, which can serve as a useful tool to identify ideal candidates for TRA chemoembolization in patients with liver cancer.
