RESUMO

Magnetic levitation (MagLev) is a promising technology for density-based analysis and manipulation of nonmagnetic materials. One major limitation is that extant MagLev methods are based on the static balance of gravitational-magnetic forces, thereby leading to an inability to resolve interior differences in density. Here a new strategy called "dynamically rotating MagLev" is proposed, which combines centrifugal force and nonlinear magnetic force to amplify the interior differences in density. The design of the nonlinear magnetic force in tandem with centrifugal force supports the regulation of stable equilibriums, enabling different homogeneous objects to reach distinguishable equilibrium orientations. Without reducing the magnetic susceptibility, the dynamically rotating MagLev system can lead to a relatively large change in orientation angle (∆ψ > 50°) for the heterogeneous parts with small inclusions (volume fraction VF = 2.08%). The rich equilibrium states of levitating objects invoke the concept of levitation stability, which is employed, for the first time, to characterize the spatial density heterogeneity of objects. Exploiting the tunable nonlinear levitation behaviors of objects provides a new paradigm for developing operationally simple, nondestructive density heterogeneity characterization methods. Such methods have tremendous potential in applications related to sorting, orienting, and assembling objects in three dimensions.

RESUMO

Mucosa-associated invariant T cells (MAIT) are a class of innate-like T lymphocytes mainly presenting CD8+ phenotype with a semi-invariant αß T-cell receptor, which specifically recognises MR1-presented biosynthetic derivatives of riboflavin synthesis produced by various types of microbiomes. As innate-like T lymphocytes, MAIT can be activated by a variety of cytokines, leading to immediate immune responses to infection and tumour cues. As an organ that communicates with the external environment, the digestive tract, especially the gastrointestinal tract, contains abundant microbial populations. Communication between MAIT and local microbiomes is important for the homeostasis of mucosal immunity. In addition, accumulating evidence suggests changes in the abundance and structure of the microbial community during inflammation and tumorigenesis plays a critical role in disease progress partly through their impact on MAIT development and function. Therefore, it is essential for the understanding of MAIT response and their interaction with microbiomes in the digestive tract. Here, we summarised MAIT characteristics in the digestive tract and its alteration facing inflammation and tumour, raising that targeting MAIT can be a candidate for treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.

RESUMO

(1) Background: To analyze the indications, graft survival, and graft failure-related risk factors of repeat penetrating keratoplasty (RPK) in children. (2) Methods: In this case series, children younger than 12 years who received RPK at Beijing Tongren Hospital were reviewed. The indications for RPK, postoperative complications, and graft survival were analyzed. The analysis of the potential variables associated with graft survival was performed using Cox proportional hazards regression. (3) Results: A total of 30 RPK eyes of 29 children were included in this study. The mean follow-up time was 26.98 ± 18.75 months. The most common indication for RPK was a vascularized corneal scar (86.67%). Postoperative complications occurred in 27 eyes (90%), including immune rejection (46.67%), epithelial defects (36.67%), and glaucoma (26.67%). About 60% of the regrafts remained clear one year after RPK, while the overall graft survival rate was 30% at the last visit. The most common cause of regraft failure was irreversible immune rejection (8/21). The significant risks of graft failure included an age of less than 60 months at surgery (p = 0.009), corneal vascularization (p = 0.018), and a postoperative epithelial defect (p = 0.037). (4) Conclusions: A vascularized corneal scar is the most common indication of RPK in children. Immune rejection is the most prevalent complication, and irreversible immune rejection always causes regraft failure.

RESUMO

Flexible supercapacitors are an important portable energy storage but suffer from low capacitance, inability to stretch, etc. Therefore, flexible supercapacitors must achieve higher capacitance, energy density, and mechanical robustness to expand the applications. Herein, a hydrogel electrode with excellent mechanical strength was created by simulating the collagen fiber network and proteoglycan in cartilage using silk nanofiber (SNF) network and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The Young's modulus and breaking strength of the hydrogel electrode increased by 205 % and 91 % compared with PVA hydrogel owing to the enhanced effect of the bionic structure, respectively, which are 1.22 MPa and 1.3 MPa. The fracture energy and fatigue threshold reached 1813.5 J/m2 and 1585.2 J/m2, respectively. The SNF network effectively connected carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and polypyrrole (PPy) in series, affording a capacitance of 13.62 F/cm2 and energy density of 1.2098 mWh/cm2. This capacitance is the highest among currently reported PVA hydrogel capacitors, which can maintain >95.2 % after 3000 charge-discharge cycles. This capacitance Notably, the cartilage-like structure endowed the supercapacitor with high resilience; thus, the capacitance remained >92.1 % under 150 % deformation and >93.35 % after repeated stretching (3000 times), which was far superior to that of other PVA-based supercapacitors. Overall, this effective bionic strategy can endow supercapacitors with ultrahigh capacitance and effectively ensure the mechanical reliability of flexible supercapacitors, which will help expand the applications of supercapacitors.

RESUMO

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious disease with no effective treatment. Abnormal opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) is an important pathological process in ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI), the key factor of AKI. It is essential to elucidate MPTP regulation mechanism. Here, we identified mitochondrial ribosomal protein L7/L12 (MRPL12) specifically binds to adenosine nucleotide translocase 3 (ANT3) under normal physiological conditions, stabilizes MPTP and maintains mitochondrial membrane homeostasis in renal tubular epithelial cells (TECs). During AKI, MRPL12 expression was significantly decreased in TECs, and MRPL12-ANT3 interaction was reduced, leading to ANT3 conformation change, MPTP abnormal opening, and cell apoptosis. Importantly, MRPL12 overexpression protected TECs from MPTP abnormal opening and apoptosis during hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R). Our results suggest MRPL12-ANT3 axis involves in AKI by regulating MPTP, and MRPL12 could be potential intervention target for treatment of AKI.

RESUMO

Inspired by the regulatory luminescence properties of HBT derivatives, in this work, we mainly conduct a detailed theoretical exploration on the photoinduced excitation behavior of a novel di-proton-transfer type HBT derivative 1-bis(benzothiazolyl)naphthalene-diol (1-BBTND). The intramolecular double hydrogen bonding interaction and the excited state intramolecular double proton transfer (ESDPT) behavior of 1-BBTND fluorophore are investigated in combination with different polar solvent environments. From the structural changes and charge recombination induced by photoexcitation, we can conclude that strong polar solvent environment promotes the excited state dynamical reaction for 1-BBTND compound. By constructing potential energy surfaces (PESs) in S0 and S1 states, we clarify that 1-BBTND fluorophore should undergo a stepwise ESDPT reaction after photoexcitation. Combined with the size of potential energy barriers along with reaction paths in different solvents, we finally propose a new solvent-polarity-dependent stepwise ESDPT for 1-BBTND fluorophore.

RESUMO

Mixed-anion compounds have attracted growing attentions, but their synthesis is challenging, making a rational search desirable. Here, we explored LaF3-LaX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) system using ab initio structure searches based on evolutionary algorithms, and predicted LaF2X and LaFX2 (X = Br, I), which are respectively isostructural with LaHBr2 and YH2I, consisting of layered La-F blocks with single and double ordered honeycomb lattices, separated by van der Waals gaps. We successfully synthesized these compounds: LaF2Br and LaFI2 crystallized in the predicted structure, while LaF2I is similar to the predicted one but with different layer stacking. LaF2I exhibits fluoride ion conductivity comparable to that of non-doped LaF3, and has the potential to show better ionic conductivity upon appropriate doping, given the theoretically lower diffusion energy barrier and the presence of soft iodine anions. This study shows the structure prediction using evolutionary algorithms will accelerate the discovery of mixed-anion compounds in future, in particular those with an ordered anion arrangement.

RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate the roles of METTL3, a regulator of m6A, in NSCLC. RT-qPCR was applied to determine mRNA of m6A-associated genes and SFRP2, and western blot were used for ZEB1 and MMP9 protein expression. Total m6A level was measured using methylated RNA immunoprecipitation (MeRIP) assay, and RIP was used to access m6A level of SFRP2. Cellular behaviors were detected using CCK-8 and tranwell assays. Xenograft assays were conducted to further verify the roles of METTL3 and SFRP2 in NSCLC. The expression level of METTL3 was higher in NSCLC than normal controls. However, downregulation of METTL3 restrained the proliferation, migration and invasion of NSCLC cells. Enhanced expression of METTL3 caused the inverse consequences. Moreover, SFRP2 was found to be negatively regulated by METTL3. Intriguingly, the anti-tumor functions of METTL3 knockdown in the phenotype of NSCLC cells and xenograft mice were overturned by inhibition of SFRP2. Silencing METTL3 resulted in the enhanced stability of SFRP2. Finally, downregulation of SFRP2 induced by METTL3 activated the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in NSCLC. METTL3 acted as an oncogene in the pathogenesis of NSCLC via suppressing SFRP2 to activate Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway, indicating that METTL3 might be a promising predictor in NSCLC.

RESUMO

Verticillium wilt is one of the most critical cotton diseases, which is widely distributed in cotton-producing countries. However, the conventional method of verticillium wilt investigation is still manual, which has the disadvantages of subjectivity and low efficiency. In this research, an intelligent vision-based system was proposed to dynamically observe cotton verticillium wilt with high accuracy and high throughput. Firstly, a 3-coordinate motion platform was designed with the movement range 6,100 mm × 950 mm × 500 mm, and a specific control unit was adopted to achieve accurate movement and automatic imaging. Secondly, the verticillium wilt recognition was established based on 6 deep learning models, in which the VarifocalNet (VFNet) model had the best performance with a mean average precision (mAP) of 0.932. Meanwhile, deformable convolution, deformable region of interest pooling, and soft non-maximum suppression optimization methods were adopted to improve VFNet, and the mAP of the VFNet-Improved model improved by 1.8%. The precision-recall curves showed that VFNet-Improved was superior to VFNet for each category and had a better improvement effect on the ill leaf category than fine leaf. The regression results showed that the system measurement based on VFNet-Improved achieved high consistency with manual measurements. Finally, the user software was designed based on VFNet-Improved, and the dynamic observation results proved that this system was able to accurately investigate cotton verticillium wilt and quantify the prevalence rate of different resistant varieties. In conclusion, this study has demonstrated a novel intelligent system for the dynamic observation of cotton verticillium wilt on the seedbed, which provides a feasible and effective tool for cotton breeding and disease resistance research.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate the effects of tumor-stromal fibroblasts (TSFs) on the proliferation, invasion, and migration of salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma (SPA) cells in vitro. METHODS: Salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma cells (SPACs), TSFs, and peri-tumorous normal fibroblasts (NFs) were obtained by tissue primary culture and identified by immunocytochemical staining. The conditioned medium was obtained from TSF and NF in logarithmic phase. SPACs were cultured by conditioned medium and treated by TSF (group TSF-SPAC) and NF (group NF-SPAC). SPACs were used as the control group. The proliferation, invasion, and migration of the three groups of cells were detected by MTT, transwell, and scratch assays, respectively. The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the three groups was tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: Immunocytochemical staining showed positive vimentin expression in NF and TSF. Results also indicated the weak positive expression of α-smooth muscle actin (SMA) and fibroblast activation protein (FAP) in TSFs and the negative expression of α-SMA and FAP in NFs. MTT assay showed that cell proliferation in the TSF-SPAC group was significantly different from that in the NF-SPAC and SPAC groups (P<0.05). Cell proliferation was not different between the NF-SPAC and SPAC groups (P>0.05). Transwell and scratch assays showed no difference in cell invasion and migration among the groups (P>0.05). ELISA showed that no significant difference in VEGF expression among the three groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: TSFs may be involved in SPA biological behavior by promoting the proliferation of SPACs but has no effect on the invasion and migration of SPACs in vitro. Hence, TSF may be a new therapeutic target in SPA treatment.

RESUMO

The association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular outcomes, as well as their clinical impact, has yet to be established in the literature. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the association between the NAFLD patients and the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), heart failure (HF), stroke, cardiovascular mortality (CVM), and revascularization incidence. We performed a systematic literature search using PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane libraries for relevant articles from inception until August 2022. A total of 12 cohort studies with 18,055,072 patients (2,938,753 NAFLD vs 15,116,319 non-NAFLD) were included in our analysis. The mean age of the NAFLD patients group and the non-NAFLD group was comparable (55.68 vs 55.87). The most common comorbidities among the NAFLD patients group included hypertension (38% vs 24%) and diabetes mellitus (14% vs 8%). The mean follow-up duration was 6.26 years. The likelihood of AF (risk ratio (RR), 1.42 (95% CI 1.19, 1.68), p < 0.001), HF (RR, 1.43(95% CI 1.03, 2.00), p < 0.001), stroke (RR, 1.26(95% CI 1.16, 1.36), p < 0.001), revascularization (RR, 4.06(95% CI 1.44, 11.46), p = 0.01), and CVM (RR, 3.10(95% CI 1.43, 6.73), p < 0.001) was significantly higher in the NAFLD patients group compared to that of the non-NAFLD group. However, all-cause mortality was comparable between both the groups of patients (RR, 1.30 (95% CI 0.63, 2.67), p = 0.48). In conclusion, the patients with NAFLD are at increased risk of AF, HF, and CVM.

RESUMO

Dopamine (DA) and Fe3+ as the important bioactive ingredients, playing an indispensable role in human metabolism. Therefore, developing the accurate detection of DA and Fe3+ is of great significance for disease screening. Herein, we put forward a simple, rapid, and sensitive fluorescent detection strategy for the detection of dopamine and Fe3+ based on Rhodamine B-modified MOF-808 (RhB@MOF-808). RhB@MOF-808 produced strong fluorescence at 580 nm, and the fluorescence was significantly quenched after DA or Fe3+ was added, which was regarded as a static quenching process. Detection limits are as low as 60.25 nM and 48.34 nM, respectively. Furthermore, based on the responses of DA and Fe3+ to the probe, molecular logic gates were successfully designed. More importantly, RhB@MOF-808 had excellent cell membrane permeability and had been successfully used to label DA and Fe3+ in Hela cells, which presented a potential biological application value as a fluorescent probe for detecting DA and Fe3+.

RESUMO

In this study, a charge-transfer complex was formed between 3-(4-(di([1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)amino)phenyl) (dpTPA) and acenaphtho[1,2-b]pyrazine-8,9-dicarbonitrile (APDC) (dpTPAAP) that exhibited a wide range of charge-transfer absorption that extended to the near-infrared region. The rate of charge transfer as regulated by an external electric field (Fext) was quantitatively depicted using first-principles quantum mechanics. The results show that the rates of charge separation and charge recombination were affected by Fext and were distinctly susceptible to it in the forward direction. According to the Marcus rate analysis of the dpTPAAP system with different values of Fext, its influence needs to be considered when simulating electron transfer on the bulk and the interfaces in organic semiconductors. This work advances our knowledge of the impact of Fext on solar-cell-based photoactive materials and provides a means to design novelty devices.

RESUMO

To investigate efficacy and safety of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy combined with lenvatinib (HAIC-Len) and HAIC alone for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (Ad-HCC). Totally 349 patients with Ad-HCC participated in the research from February 2018 to October 2020. On the basis of propensity score matching (PSM), 132 and 110 cases were assigned to the HAIC group and the HAIC-Len group, respectively, with a ratio of 1:1. Progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and complications were compared between two groups. The Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test were utilized to estimate cumulative OS and PFS. Additionally, uni- and multi-variate Cox regression models were employed to identify significant independent factors. The median follow-up period in this study was set to be 20.8 months. Following PSM, the one-, two- and three-year cumulative OS rates in the HAIC-Len and HAIC groups were 63.6%, 12.1%, and 3.0%, and 47.2%, 11.8%, and 2.7%, respectively, with a significant difference (P < 0.001). The first-three-year cumulative incidence rates PFS in the HAIC-Len and the HAIC groups were 15.2%, 1.5%, and ND, and 11.8%, 4.5%, and 3.6%, respectively, with no significant difference detected (P = 0.092). BMI (HR 0.709. 95% CI 0.549, 0.915. P = 0.008) and AST (HR 1.005. 95% CI 1.003, 1.007. P < 0.001) represented independent prognostic factors for OS. Additionally, the two groups exhibited no significant difference in the incidence rates of adverse events. HAIC-Len significantly improved survival outcomes of patients with Ad-HCC and demonstrated acceptable toxicity compared to HAIC alone.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The Racial disparity between the clinical outcomes post stroke have not been well studied, with limited literature available. OBJECTIVE: We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the post-stroke outcomes among the White and Black race of patients METHODS: We systematically searched all electronic databases from inception until 1st March 2023. The primary endpoint was post stroke in-hospital mortality, and all-cause mortality. Secondary endpoints were post-stroke intervention in-hospital mortality, intracerebral hemorrhage, and all-cause mortality (ACM) RESULT: 1250397 patients were included in the analysis, with 1018892 (81.48%) patients of the White race and 231505 (18.51%) patients in the Black race. The mean age of the patients in each group was (73.55 vs 66.28). The most common comorbidity among White and Black patients was HTN (73.92% vs 81.00%), and DM (29.37% vs 43.36%). The odds of in hospital mortality post stroke (OR, 1.45(95%CI:1.35-1.55), P<0.001), and all-cause mortality (OR, 1.40(95%CI:1.28-1.54), P<0.001) were significantly higher among White patients compared with Black patients. Among patients with post stroke intervention the odds of in-hospital mortality (OR, 1.29 (95% CI: 1.05-1.59, P=0.02), and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) (OR, 1.15, (95%CI:1.06-1.26), P<0.01) were significantly higher among White patients compared with Black patients post intervention. However, all-cause mortality (OR,1.21(95%CI: 0.87-1.68, P=0.25) was comparable between both groups. CONCLUSION: Our study is the most comprehensive and first meta-analysis with the largest sample size thus far, highlighting that White patients are at increased risk of mortality and post intervention intracerebral hemorrhage compared with Black patients.

RESUMO

There is a paucity of data and minimal literature on outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) among liver cirrhosis patients. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the clinical outcomes among liver cirrhosis patients post-PCI. We conducted a comprehensive literature search in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Scopus databases for relevant studies. Effect sizes were pooled using the DerSimonian and Laird random-effects model as an odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). A total of 3 studies met the inclusion criteria, providing data from 10,705,976 patients. A total of 28,100 patients were in the PCI + Cirrhosis group and 10,677,876 patients were in the PCI-only group. The mean age of patients with PCI + Cirrhosis and PCI alone was 63.45 and 64.35 years. The most common comorbidity was hypertension among the PCI + Cirrhosis group compared with PCI alone (68.15% vs. 73.6%). Cirrhosis patients post-PCI were had higher rates of in-hospital mortality (OR, 4.78 (95%CI: 3.39-6.75), p < 0.001), GI bleeding (OR, 1.91 (95%CI:1.83-1.99), p < 0.001, I2 = 0%), stroke (OR, 2.48 (95%CI:1.68-3.66), p < 0.001), AKI (OR, 3.66 (95%CI: 2.33-6.02), p < 0.001), and vascular complications (OR, 1.50 (95%CI: 1.13-1.98), p < 0.001) compared with the PCI group without cirrhosis. Patients with cirrhosis are at a high risk for mortality and adverse outcomes post-PCI procedure compared to the PCI-only group of patients.

RESUMO

Intestinal symbiotic bacteria have formed an interdependent symbiotic relationship with many insect species after long-term coevolution, which plays a critical role in host growth and adaptation. Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) is a worldwide significant migratory invasive pest. As a polyphagous pest, S. frugiperda can harm more than 350 plants and poses a severe threat to food security and agricultural production. In this study, 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing technology was used to analyze the diversity and structure of the gut bacteria of this pest feeding on six diets (maize, wheat, rice, honeysuckle flowers, honeysuckle leaves, and Chinese yam). The results showed that the S. frugiperda fed on rice had the highest bacterial richness and diversity, whereas the larvae fed on honeysuckle flowers had the lowest abundance and diversity of gut bacterial communities. Firmicutes, Actinobacteriota, and Proteobacteria were the most dominant bacterial phyla. PICRUSt2 analysis indicated that most of the functional prediction categories were concentrated in metabolic bacteria. Our results confirmed that the gut bacterial diversity and community composition of S. frugiperda were affected significantly by host diets. This study provided a theoretical basis for clarifying the host adaptation mechanism of S. frugiperda, which also provided a new direction to improve polyphagous pest management strategies.

RESUMO

Introduction: Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are key components of the immune system, yet the similarity and distinction of the properties across tissues under homeostasis, inflammation and tumor process remain elusive. Methods: Here we performed integrative inference of ILCs to reveal their transcriptional profiles and heterogeneity from single-cell genomics. We collected a large number of ILCs from human six different tissues which can represent unique immune niches (circulation, lymphoid tissue, normal and inflamed mucosa, tumor microenvironment), to systematically address the transcriptional imprinting. Results: ILCs are profoundly imprinted by their organ of residence, and tissue-specific distinctions are apparent under pathological conditions. In the hepatocellular carcinoma microenvironment, we identified intermediate c-kit+ ILC2 population, and lin-CD127- NK-like cells that expressed markers of cytotoxicity including CCL5 and IFNG. Additionally, CD127+CD94+ ILC1s were preferentially enriched in inflamed ileum from patients with Crohn's disease. Discussion: These analyses depicted a comprehensive characterization of ILC anatomical distribution and subset heterogeneity, and provided a base line for future temporal or spatial studies focused on tissue-specific ILC-mediated immunity.

RESUMO

While subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) was reportedly associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular mortality, the relationship between SCH and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is uncertain. The aim of this study was to assess the association of SCH and cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing PCI. We searched PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and CENTRAL databases from its inception until April 1, 2022 for studies comparing the outcomes between SCH and euthyroid patients undergoing PCI. Outcomes of interest include cardiovascular mortality, all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction (MI), major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), repeat revascularization and heart failure. Outcomes were pooled using the DerSimonian and Laird random-effects model and reported as risk ratios (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). A total of 7 studies involving 1132 patients with SCH and 11,753 euthyroid patients were included in the analysis. Compared with euthyroid patients, patients with SCH had significantly higher risk of cardiovascular mortality (RR 2.16, 95% CI: 1.38-3.38, P < 0.001), all-cause mortality (RR 1.68, 95% CI: 1.23-2.29, P = 0.001) and repeat revascularization (RR 1.96, 95% CI: 1.08-3.58, P = 0.03). However, there were no differences between both groups in terms of incidence of MI (RR 1.81, 95% CI: 0.97-3.37, P = 0.06), MACCE (RR 2.24, 95% CI: 0.55-9.08, P = 0.26) and heart failure (RR 5.38, 95% CI: 0.28-102.35, P = 0.26). Our analysis suggests among patients undergoing PCI, SCH was associated with increased risk of cardiovascular mortality, all-cause mortality and repeat revascularization compared to euthyroid patients.

RESUMO

The safety and clinical outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) compared to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) among patients with solid organ transplants is not well understood. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of TAVR and SAVR among patients with a history of solid organ transplantation. We performed a systematic literature search of databases for relevant articles from inception until May 1st, 2022. Unadjusted odds ratios (OR) were pooled using a random-effect model, and a P-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. A total of 3240 studies were identified of which 3 studies with a total of 2960 patients were included in the final analysis. For solid organ transplants patients, the odds of in-hospital mortality (OR 0.37, 95% CI 0.20-0.71, P < 0.001), 30-day mortality (OR 0.51, 95% CI 0.35-0.74, P < 0.001), acute kidney injury (OR 0.45, 95% CI 0.35-0.59, P < 0.001), and bleeding (OR 0.35, 95% CI 0.27-0.46, P < 0.001) were significantly lower in patients undergoing TAVR compared to SAVR. In contrast, the odds of pacemaker implantation (OR 2.60, 95% CI 0.36-18.90, P = 0.34), postprocedural stroke (OR 0.36, 95% CI 0.13-1.03, P = 0.06) were similar between both groups of patients. Length of hospital stay was significantly lower in TAVR compared to SAVR patients (SMD -0.82, 95% CI -0.95 to -0.70, P < 0.001). In solid organ transplant patients, TAVR appeared to be a safe procedure with fewer postprocedure complications, shorter length of hospital stay, and lower in hospital mortality compared with SAVR.
