RESUMO

Understanding population quality and nitrogen utilization characteristics of direct seeding rice under water-nitrogen interaction could provide theoretical and practical basis for high yield and ample production of direct seeding rice. Hybrid rice F You 498 was used as the material. Three irrigation methods were set in this study: flooding irrigation (W1), dry-wet alternate irrigation (W2) and drying irrigation (W3), with different ratio of base fertilizer: tiller fertilizer: panicle fertilizer at 5:3:2 (N1), 3:3:4 (N2), 3:1:6 (N3), respectively. No nitrogen application (N0) was set as the control. We investigated the effects of water-nitrogen interaction on population quality and nitrogen utilization characteristics of direct seeding rice, with the aim to clarify the relationship between population quality construction, nitrogen utilization characteristics and yield of direct seeding rice. The results showed that irrigation and N rate significantly interacted to affect dry matter accumulation, rice harvest index, heading high-efficiency leaf (the upper three leaves) dry weight, light transmittance rate at maturity stage, total nitrogen accumulation (TNA), apparent nitrogen use efficiency (ANE), nitrogen partial factor productivity (NPFP), nitrogen physiology efficiency, and rice yield. Taking population quality, yield and N fertilizer utilization characteristics into consideration, suitable panicle N-fertilizer under each irrigation mode was 20%-40% (N1-N2). Panicle N-fertilizer reached 60% (N3) and W3 treatment would significantly reduce population quality, yield, nitrogen agronomy efficiency (NAE), NPFP of direct seeding rice. Yield and nitrogen utilization characteristics of direct seeding rice were significantly correlated with effective panicles, dry matter accumulation at maturity stage, other leaf (except the upper three leaves) dry weight reduction, total leaf dry weight reduction, and middle part and basel part light-receiving rate under water-nitrogen interaction. The dry-wet alternative (W2) treatment could increase the rate of production til-lers, dry matter accumulation, rice harvest index, TNA, NAE and rice yield. W2 combined with N2 could improve population quality of direct seeding rice and realized the coordination and unification of high yield and efficient utilization of nitrogen, which is the best combination in this experiment.

Background: There is still no clear experimental data on the relationship between the intelligibility of Chinese vocal lyrics and different pitch.Aims/Objective: This study aims at investigating the intelligibility of Chinese sung words at different pitch.Material and methods: A word list is created and sung by eight singers at five different pitches (C5, F4, bB4, bE5, and bA5). The intelligibility of the words is tested by listeners with and without music background.Results: The average intelligibility score in the music-listeners is 84.9% (SD = 9.5%). The score at five pitches (from low to high) is 93%, 91.7%, 89.7%, 83.1%, and 67.1%, respectively. The average score is 77.4% (SD = 10.7%) in the non-music listeners. The average score is 87%, 86%, 79.8%, 76.8%, and 57.5% at five pitches, respectively. The ratio of unidentified sung words is 19.3% (SD, 4.3%) in female singers and 11.9% (SD = 1.5%) in male singers.Conclusions: The intelligibility of Chinese sung words declines gradually with increase in pitch, and the extent of decreases gradually elevating. Generally, the identified ratio of words sung by male singers is higher than that of female singers. The listeners who had no musical background have a lower intelligibility score than those with experience.

Rationale: Inflammation plays a crucial role in the progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type O truncated isoform (PTPROt) is an integral membrane protein that has been identified in osteoclasts, macrophages, and B lymphocytes. However, its relationship between inflammation and NASH is largely unknown. Herein, we aimed to study the function of PTPROt in NASH progression. Methods: We established a NASH mouse model in wild-type (WT), PTPRO knockout mice by western diet (WD) and methionine-choline-deficient diet (MCD). In addition, MCD-induced NASH model was established in BMT mice. Moreover, we determined the expression of PTPROt in liver macrophages in human subjects without steatosis, with simple steatosis, and with NASH to confirm the relationship between PTPROt and NASH. In vitro assays were also performed to study the molecular role of PTPROt in NASH progression. Results: Human samples and animal model results illustrated that PTPROt is increased in liver macrophages during NASH progression and is positively correlated with the degree of NASH. Our animal model also showed that PTPROt in liver macrophages can enhance the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, which induces the transcription of genes involved in the inflammatory response. Moreover, PTPROt promotes the transcription of pro-oxidant genes and inhibits antioxidant and protective genes via increased activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, thereby causing an increased level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and damaged mitochondria. This triggers the NLRP3-IL1ß axis and causes a heightened inflammatory response. Notably, PTPROt partially limits inflammation and ROS production by promoting mitophagy, which participates in a negative feedback loop in this model. Conclusions: Our data strongly indicate that PTPROt plays a dual role in inflammation via the NF-κB signaling pathway in liver macrophages during NASH. Further studies are required to explore therapeutic strategies and prevention of this common liver disease through PTPROt.

OBJECTIVE: To study the behavioral characteristics of memory maintenance and regression in a mouse model of combined learning and memory training with fluoxetine treatment and explore the neural basis for learning and memory in the barrel area of the brain. METHODS: Twenty-six 16-day-old C57 mice were randomized into two equal groups and were given daily intraperitoneal injection of saline (control) or fluoxetine. The mice were subjected to stimulation of the right whiskers using a multi-sensory stimulation simulator and were given simultaneously olfactory stimulation with butyl acetate. In the initial 10 days of the experiment, the mice were given corresponding drug treatment followed by whisker and olfactory stimulations on a daily basis; from day 11 to day 17, only the drugs were administered without the stimulations; on day 18, both the drugs and stimulations were administered. The daily performance of the mice was recorded and analyzed. In the field potential experiment, the left barrel cortex of the mouse brain was selected to record the frequency of field potential signals in response to whisker stimulation. RESULTS: In the behavioral test, the mice treated with fluoxetine showed greater increments of the frequency and angle of whisker deflection than the control mice (P < 0.01). Compared with the peak levels that occurred on the 10th day, the swing angle and frequency of the whisker deflection decreased on the 17th day decreased in both groups, and the reduction was more obvious in the control group (P < 0.05). During the training on the 18th day, the whisker movement of the mice increased rapidly to the peak level and showed significant differences between the two groups (P < 0.05). In the field potential experiment on the 10th and 17th day, the frequencies of field potential signal in response to whisker stimulation was significantly higher in fluoxetine group than in the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Combined training of the mice results in the formation of combined memory. Fluoxetine can enhance combined learning and memory abilities and prolong such memories in mice by promoting the function of the barrel cortex cells.

This study aimed to determine the effects of Tilburg Frailty Indicator (TFI) and frailty phenotype (FP) in senile inpatients with frailty and provide a reference for the clinical evaluation of debilitating elderly patients. The effect of silver nanoparticle (AgNP)-silver needle acupuncture was also evaluated. Overall, 48 elderly inpatients with an average age of 69.5±6.2 years were included in the study. The results of two weakness assessment methods in screening the same elderly population were compared, and the correlation or consistency between the two methods was analyzed. A AgNPsilver needle was used for acupuncture treatment. The TFI score ranged from 0 to 12, with an average score of 4.0±0.7 (frailty [TFI>5] in 22 elderly patients [45.8%] and non-frailty in 26 patients [54.2%]). FP was presented in different stages, and the FP score ranged from 0 to 5, with an average score of 2.1±1.4, including non-frailty in 12 (25%) patients and pre-frailty in 19 (39.6%) patients. Moreover, 17 patients (35.4%) were debilitated. The two assessment methods showed that the degree of debilitation increased with advancing age in the elderly. The TFI score was positively associated with the defined stage of FP (r = 0.911, P <0.001). The consistency of TFI grading with phenotypic definition kappa value was 0.786 (P <0.001), and the area under the curve was 0.872 (95% confidence interval, 0.834-1.000; P <0.05). After acupuncture and moxibustion, the patient's condition evidently improved. In this study, the proportion of non-debilitating elderly hospitalized patients was higher than that of debilitating elderly hospitalized patients, and the degree of debilitating increased with advancing age. The TFI score was positively associated with the stage of phenotypic definition, and TFI frailty assessment was highly sensitive. Both methods had screening value, but TFI was more effective in screening patients with pre-frailty than FP, resulting in the early intervention and treatment of debilitating elderly hospitalized patients. A silver needle acupuncture can be used for treating senile frailty, providing a new idea for the clinical treatment of frailty.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The relationship between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and cancer, especially extrahepatic cancers, has not been fully clarified. We analyzed data from a large prospective cohort study to determine the relationship between NAFLD and development of cancers in men. METHODS: We collected data from the Kailuan cohort, a community-based cohort of 54,187 adult men in China, from June 2006 through October 2007. NAFLD was diagnosed by ultrasonography after excluding other causes related to chronic liver disease. Fine and Gray competing risk regression model was used to evaluate associations between NAFLD (without cirrhosis) and cancers. RESULTS: The prevalence of NAFLD was 32.3%. NAFLD was associated with increased risk of all cancers (hazard ratio [HR], 1.22; 95% CI, 1.10-1.36; P = .0001), thyroid cancer (HR, 2.79; 95% CI, 1.25-6.21; P = .01), and lung cancer (HR, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.02-1.49; P = .03). The association between NAFLD and risk of thyroid cancer increased with level of alanine aminotransferase (ALT). In men with NAFLD, level of ALT 80 U/L or more was associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HR, 8.08; 95% CI, 2.46-26.56; P = .0006). NAFLD increased risk of colorectal cancer (HR, 1.96; 95% CI, 1.17-3.27) and lung cancer (HR, 1.38; 95% CI, 1.03-1.84) only in smokers. An association between NAFLD and kidney cancer (HR, 1.57; 95% CI, 1.03-2.40) was only observed in men without diabetes. CONCLUSIONS: A cohort study from China found that men with NAFLD have a higher risk of extrahepatic cancers, including thyroid and lung cancer. In men with NAFLD, higher levels of ALT were associated with higher risk of thyroid and hepatocellular cancer. NAFLD increased risk of colorectal and lung cancer only in smokers, and increased risk of kidney cancer in men without diabetes.

Despite their notorious adverse effects, glucocorticoids (GC, potent anti-inflammatory drugs) are used extensively in clinical management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other chronic inflammatory diseases. To achieve a sustained therapeutic efficacy and reduced toxicities, macromolecular GC prodrugs have been developed with promising outcomes for the treatment of RA. Fine-tuning the activation kinetics of these prodrugs may further improve their therapeutic efficacy and minimize the off-target adverse effects. To assess the feasibility of this strategy, five different dexamethasone (Dex, a potent GC)-containing monomers with distinctively different linker chemistries were designed, synthesized, and copolymerized with N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide (HPMA) to obtain 5 macromolecular Dex prodrugs. Their Dex releasing rates were analyzed in vitro and shown to display a wide spectrum of activation kinetics. Their therapeutic efficacy and preliminary toxicology profiles were assessed and compared in vivo in an adjuvant-induced arthritis (AA) rat model in order to identify the ideal prodrug design for the most effective and safe treatment of inflammatory arthritis. The in vivo data demonstrated that the C3 hydrazone linker-containing prodrug design was the most effective in preserving joint structural integrity. The results from this study suggest that the design and screening of different activation mechanisms may help to identify macromolecular prodrugs with the most potent therapeutic efficacy and safety for the management of inflammatory arthritis.

A mechanistic understanding of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) toxicity to plants is essential for future risk assessment of PFOA in agricultural soil. In this study, soil-grown cucumber (Cucumis sativus) was exposed to 0, 0.2, and 5 mg/kg of PFOA for 60 days. At harvest, contaminant accumulation, cucumber biomass, photosynthesis profiles and metabolites were measured. Results showed that PFOA depressed cucumber biomass and accumulated highest in leaves. Photosynthesis analysis revealed that PFOA at both doses reduced the chlorophyll contents and net photosynthesis rate of cucumber leaves. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-based non-targeted metabolomics revealed that PFOA induced metabolic reprogramming in cucumber leaves, including up-regulation of phenols (at 0.2 and 5 mg/kg) and down-regulation of amino acids (at 5 mg/kg), indicating disrupted nitrogen and carbon metabolism. Results revealed how PFOA represses plant growth by down-regulating photosynthetic pigments and disturbing the metabolism of carbohydroxides, phenols and amino acids. These findings provide valuable information for understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in plant responses to PFOA-induced stress.

BACKGROUND: Few studies have examined the risk of gastrointestinal cancers in screen-detected gallstone disease. This study aimed to investigate the association between screen-detected gallstone disease and gastrointestinal cancers using the Kailuan cohort, a population-based prospective cohort initiated in 2006. METHODS: A total of 79 809 men who underwent gallbladder ultrasonography, were free of cancers in 2006 and did not have gastrointestinal cancers within one year were enrolled. A Cox proportional hazards model with age as the timescale was used to evaluate the association between screen-detected gallstone disease and gastrointestinal cancers. RESULTS: We identified 1264 cases with gastrointestinal cancers, including 303 cases with liver cancer and 94 cases with pancreatic cancer. Screen-detected gallstone disease increased the risk of liver cancer, with an HR of 2.28 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.20-4.33, P = .012]. The association was modified by the hepatitis B surface antigen status. A non-significant positive association was observed between pancreatic cancer and gallstone disease (HR 2.19, 95% CI: 0.95-5.05, P = .065). However, the HR became significant after those individuals with diabetes were excluded (HR 2.60, 95% CI: 1.12-6.01, P = .026). CONCLUSION: Screen-detected gallstone disease may predict the risk for liver and pancreatic cancer.

Vascular calcification is a pathological process closely related to atherosclerosis, diabetic vascular diseases, vascular injury, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and aging. Lethal giant larvae 1 (LGL1) is known as a key regulator of cell polarity and plays an important role in tumorigenesis. However, whether LGL1 regulates vascular calcification remains unclear. In this study, we generated smooth muscle-specific LGL1 knockout (LGL1SMKO) mice by cross-breeding LGL1flox/flox mice with α-SMA-Cre mice. LGL1 level was significantly decreased during calcifying conditions. Overexpression of LGL1 restrained high phosphate-induced calcification in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Mechanically, LGL1 could bind with high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) and promote its degradation via the lysosomal pathway, thereby inhibiting calcification. Smooth muscle-specific deletion of LGL1 increased HMGB1 level and aggravated vitamin D3-induced vascular calcification, which was attenuated by an HMGB1 inhibitor. LGL1 may inhibit vascular calcification by preventing osteogenic differentiation via promoting HMGB1 degradation.

OBJECTIVE: To detect pathogenic variant in a neonate suspected for Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS). METHODS: Potential mutations of CdLS-related genes (NIPBL, SMC1A, SMC3, RAD21 and HDAC8) were detected by high-throughput target region capture and next-generation sequencing. Suspected variants was verified by Sanger sequencing. RESULTS: The child was found to harbor a heterozygous splice site variant, c.6109-1G>A, of the NIPBL gene. Sanger sequencing suggested that neither parent has carried the same variant, suggesting that it was de novo. The variant was unreported by HGMD and ExAC database, and was predicted to alter an acceptor splicing site. No pathogenic variants of SMC1A, SMC3, RAD21 and HDAC8 genes were detected. CONCLUSION: The heterozygous c.6109-1G>A splicing variant of the NIPBL gene may underlie the disease in this child. Above finding has expanded the variant spectrum of the NIPBL gene.

Understanding subsurface transport of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) is of critical importance for the benign use and risk management of PFASs. As one of the most commonly found PFASs, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is used as a representative PFAS and water-saturated column experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of Al/Fe oxyhydroxide coating and ionic strength on its transport at an environmentally relevant PFOA concentration (6.8 µg L-1). Our results showed a clear increase in PFOA retardation in Al/Fe oxyhydroxide coated sand (retardation factor: Al: 1.87-5.58, Fe: 1.28-4.05) than those in uncoated sand (1.00-1.05), due to the stronger electrostatic attraction between anionic PFOA and Al/Fe oxyhydroxide coated sand surface. Notably, Al oxyhydroxide have a more profound effect on PFOA retention and retardation than Fe oxyhydroxide. Besides, higher ionic strength significantly inhabited PFOA retention and retardation in positively charged sand, and the considerable retention of PFOA (∼90%) in deionized water than those in 1.5 mM and 30.0 mM NaCl (<10%) clearly proves the role of competitive adsorption of Cl- on PFOA transport in positively charged sand. In contrast, higher ionic strength (0 mM-30 mM NaCl) slightly increased PFOA retardation in negatively charged sand, illustrating the dominance of electrostatic interaction. Our findings advance current knowledge to understand PFOA transport in natural media with different surface charge property under environmental PFOA concentrations.

Elevated expression of Copine 1 (CPNE1) has been observed in multiple cancers; however, the underlying mechanisms by which it affects cancer cells are unclear. We aimed to study the effect of CPNE1 on the tumorigenesis and radioresistance of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of CPNE1 in TNBC tissues and cell lines. Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence were used to investigate the levels of CPNE1, p-AKT, AKT, cleaved caspase-3, cleaved PARP1, and γ-H2AX. Cell viability and apoptosis were measured by CCK-8 and flow cytometry, respectively. CPNE1 was overexpressed in TNBC tissues and cell lines and was associated with tumor size, distant metastases, and survival rates of patients with TNBC. Moreover, function study shows that CPNE1 promoted cell viability and inhibited cell apoptosis in vitro and inhibited the radiosensitivity of TNBC. Importantly, inactivation of AKT signaling inhibited the tumorigenesis and radioresistance mediated by CPNE1 in TNBC cells. In vivo xenograft study also shows that CPNE1 knockdown inhibited tumor growth and promoted cell apoptosis. Overall, our findings suggest that CPNE1 promotes tumorigenesis and radioresistance in TNBC by regulating AKT activation and targeted CPNE1 expression may be a strategy to sensitize TNBC cells toward radiation therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of transcutaneous neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on swallowing disorders. DESIGN: MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, Web of science and PEDro were searched from their earliest record to 1 August 2019. All randomized controlled trials (RCT) and quasi-RCT were identified, which compared the efficacy of NMES plus traditional therapy (TT) versus TT in swallowing function. The GRADE approach was applied to evaluate the quality of evidence. RESULTS: Eight RCTs and three quasi-RCTs were included. These studies demonstrated a significant, moderate pooled effect size (SMD = 0.62; 95% CI = 0.06, 1.17). Studies stimulating suprahyoid muscle groups revealed a negative SMD of 0.17 (95% CI: -0.42, 0.08), whereas large effect size was observed in studies stimulating the infrahyoid muscle groups (SMD= 0.89; 95% CI: 0.47, 1.30) and stimulating the supra- and infrahyoid muscle groups (SMD= 1.4; 95% CI =1.07, 1.74). Stimulation lasting 45 minutes or less showed a large, significant pooled effect size (SMD= 0.89; 95% CI =0.58, 1.20). The quality of evidences was rated as low to very low. CONCLUSION: There is no firm evidence to conclude on the efficacy of NMES on swallowing disorders. Larger scale and well-designed RCTs are needed to reach robust conclusions.

Removal of toxic Cr(VI) from contaminated water is significant for environmental protection. High efficient adsorbents with outstanding adsorption performance are highly demanded. Herein, we reported that window-like structured carbon hollow fibers (WL-CHF) derived from Enteromorpha prolifera could capture toxic Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions with high adsorption capacity, fast adsorption rate, and excellent recyclable performance. The excellent adsorption performance could be attributed to the unique structure that combines a variety of advantages: large specific surface area, fast diffusion processes, and easy access of adsorption sites for Cr(VI). In addition, the adsorption process was fitted well with pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model. The potential mechanism on Cr(VI) removal includes reduction-cation exchange and electrostatic interaction with surface oxygen-containing functional groups. This study highlights new opportunities for designing adsorbents for Cr(VI) removal from Cr-polluted water.

BACKGROUND: Both intra- and inter-sentential semantic relations in biomedical texts provide valuable information for biomedical research. However, most existing methods either focus on extracting intra-sentential relations and ignore inter-sentential ones or fail to extract inter-sentential relations accurately and regard the instances containing entity relations as being independent, which neglects the interactions between relations. We propose a novel sequence labeling-based biomedical relation extraction method named Bio-Seq. In the method, sequence labeling framework is extended by multiple specified feature extractors so as to facilitate the feature extractions at different levels, especially at the inter-sentential level. Besides, the sequence labeling framework enables Bio-Seq to take advantage of the interactions between relations, and thus, further improves the precision of document-level relation extraction. RESULTS: Our proposed method obtained an F1-score of 63.5% on BioCreative V chemical disease relation corpus, and an F1-score of 54.4% on inter-sentential relations, which was 10.5% better than the document-level classification baseline. Also, our method achieved an F1-score of 85.1% on n2c2-ADE sub-dataset. CONCLUSION: Sequence labeling method can be successfully used to extract document-level relations, especially for boosting the performance on inter-sentential relation extraction. Our work can facilitate the research on document-level biomedical text mining.

RESUMO

Robust, reliable, and sensitively quantitative detection of genetic biomarkers at single-base resolution has the potential to revolutionize medical diagnostics, especially for precision medicine. Here, taking the advantages of the high specificity of ligase reaction and the powerful amplification features of the isothermally exponential amplification, we have demonstrated a novel methodology to sensitively quantify genetic biomarkers at one-base resolution. The methodology is based on the ligase reaction of two stem-loop DNA probes templated by the nucleic acid targets to form a double stem-loop DNA, which subsequently initiates the isothermally exponential amplification reaction with high amplification efficiency. With the proposed method, high sensitivity to determine as low as 0.01 fM DNA or 0.1 fM RNA targets and high specificity to detect single-base changes can be achieved. The new methodology is robust to be performed by using a pair of universal primers under isothermal conditions, which should be employed to quantitatively detect any genetic biomarkers because all DNA/RNA targets can be directly used as the templates to ligate the stem-loop DNA probes with single-base resolution.

Oxidized starch (oxStarch) is a major derivative of starch. In present study, 4-acetamide-TEMPO system was firstly applied to prepare specifically oxidized starch, homogeneous 1,4-linked α-D-glucuronan. The impact of oxidant amount, 4-acetamide-TEMPO amount and reaction temperature on the properties of products were investigated. The product structures were characterized with 1H NMR for degree of oxidation (DO), SEC-MALS for MW, MS for analysis of oxidized oligosaccharides, and in-source fragmented MS for analysis of oxidized polysaccharides. The results showed that the DO of oxStarches increased, but their MWs decreased with the raise of oxidant amount; higher 4-acetamide-TEMPO amount provided higher efficiency of specific oxidation of starch, in which the product has higher DO and MW; no significant difference have been observed between the oxStarches oxidized at 4 and 25 °C, but significant degradation was observed at 50 °C. In each product, having a MW distribution, the portion with smaller size has higher DO. While some unspecific oxidation was still observed observed on the second hydroxyl groups of sugar ring in the following order of priority, position 3 > 2 > 1 > 0.

To explore impact of Ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) kinase on immunoreactions in lymphocyte-predominant breast cancer (LPBC), particularly its role in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), 194 cases of LPBC were identified with pertinent clinical information retrieved. The expressions of ATM, activated ATM (P-ATM), Fas ligand (FASL), tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-induced ligand (TRAIL), major histocompatibility complex class I chain-related protein A (MICA), CD8, and Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) were assessed by immunohistochemically. We found that ATM expressed on tumor cells was correlated with upregulated expression of P-ATM and MICA (P < 0.05), down-regulated expression of FASL and TRAIL (P < 0.01), and decreased Ki-67 tumor labeling (P < 0.05). However, within the TNBC group, only a negative correlation with FASL expression was found (P = 0.001). ATM and MICA expressions were significantly down -regulated in TNBC (P < 0.01) compared to non-TNBC, while TRAIL was significantly upregulated (P < 0.01). Tregs were increased in TNBC (P < 0.05), with CD8 + TILs decreased (P < 0.01). Ki-67 index was higher in TNBC than in non-TNBC (P < 0.01). ATM may play an important role in immunoreaction of LPBC, probably through upregulation of MICA and down-regulation of FASL and TRAIL. The down-regulated ATM expression in TNBC might be responsible for impaired tumor immunoactivity, rapid tumor growth, and aggressive clinical course.
