RESUMO

Siccia yvonneae Kühne, 2007 described as member of Lithosiini (Erebidae, Arctiinae) is transferred in the present paper to the genus Meganola Dyar, 1898 of Nolini (Nolidae, Nolinae): Meganola yvonneae (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov. Meganola yvonneae is compared to M. conspicua Dyar, 1898 type species of the genus, to M. albula ([Denis Schiffermüller], 1775) a widespread Palaearctic species and to Manoba lithosiformis László, Ronkay Ronkay, 2014 described from the Philippines as an example of a Nolinae reminding of the general habitus of Siccia from SE Asia. The adult and genitalia of the Lithosiini Siccia caffra Walker, 1854 are also figured for comparative purposes.

RESUMO

Cyana Walker, 1854 is one of the most species-rich genera within the tribe Lithosiini Billberg of the subfamily Arctiinae Leach, family Erebidae Leach. The genus is widely distributed in tropics of Africa and Madagascar, south of the Arabian Peninsula, South and East Asia (including Russian Far East, Korean Peninsula and Japan), New Guinea and Australia. The African fauna was recently revised by Karisch (2013). In his revision, Karish offered a subdivision of the genus into 24 subgenera based on the differences in venation, configuration of androconial forewing lobes in males, pattern and genitalia structure.

RESUMO

The genus Siccia Walker, 1854 is a member of the subtribe Cisthenina Bendib Minet of the tribe Lithosiini Billberg (family Erebidae Leach, subfamily Arctiinae Leach) being widely distributed in the Afrotropics. Members of the genus are small or medium-sized moths with similar external appearance (whitish or grey wing coloration with blackish pattern consisting of spots and transverse lines). The check-list of the genus was provided by Kühne (2007), two additional species were described by Ivinskis Saldaitis (2008). Currently the genus includes 20 valid species with very different male and female genitalia structures, and the generic and subgeneric structure of this group needs revision (Volynkin László, in prep.).

RESUMO

Miltochrista Hübner is one of the largest genera of lichen-moths (family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae, tribe Lithosiini) including more than 160 valid species and widely distributed in Oriental and Palaearctic Regions. The genera Miltochrista and the related Asura Walker for a long time were treated in a wide sense. Hampson (1900) considered the generic names Barsine Walker, Ammatho Walker, Sesapa Walker, Cabarda Walker, Mahavira Moore, Korawa Moore and Gurna Swinhoe as synonyms of Miltochrista, and genera such as Lyclene Moore, Nepita Moore, Cyme Felder and Adites Moore under Asura. Holloway (2001) revived the genera Barsine (=Ammatho, Mahavira and Korawa), Cabarda, Lyclene, Nepita, Cyme and Adiles and transferred most of species of Miltochrista to Barsine and Cabarda, and most of species of Asura to Lyclene, Adiles, Cyme and Nepita. Later, the genera Gurna and Sesapa were also revalidated by Volynkin (2016; 2017a). According to Holloway (2001) the main differences between Miltochrista and Lyclene are wing venation and number of cornuti. However, these features may vary within the genus, while the ground plan of clasping apparatuses of the two taxa is the same. For this reason, Kirti Singh (2016) synonymized Lyclene with Miltochrista. Volynkin et al. (2018) confirmed this synonymy and considered Miltochrista sensu Holloway (2001) as the M. miniata (Forster) species-group only.

RESUMO

In the present paper, we review the genus Dolgoma from India, establish three species-groups and describe a new species, D. xanthoma N. Singh, Kirti, Datta Volynkin, sp. nov. and a new subspecies, D. rectoides arunachala N. Singh Joshi, ssp. nov. A new genus, Teuloma Volynkin N. Singh, gen. nov. is established for Lithosia oblitterans Felder like species. Eight species are included here under Teuloma gen. nov., with five species known from India. Three of them are new for science and described below: T. microoblitterans N. Singh, Kirti Datta, sp. nov., T. neooblitterans N. Singh, Joshi Kirti, sp. nov. and T. falsinebulosa N. Singh, Kirti, Datta Volynkin, sp. nov. Eight new combinations are established: Dolgoma steineri (Holloway, 2001), comb. nov., D. locus Bucsek, 2012, comb. nov., Teuloma oblitterans (Felder, 1868), comb. nov., T. montanebula (Holloway, 2001), comb. nov., T. nebulosa (Walker, 1862), comb. nov., T. divisa (Walker, 1862), comb. nov., T. setiniformis (Hampson, 1900), comb. nov. and Wittia lucida (Fang, 2000), comb. nov. In addition, checklists of presently known species of Dolgoma and Teuloma gen. nov. are provided.

RESUMO

Three new species of the genus Cyana Walker, 1854 are described: C. artemis sp. n. (southeastern China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam), C. butyracea sp. n. (Vietnam) and C. kucheri sp. n. (Vietnam). The first two species are related to the Himalayan C. moelleri (Elwes, 1890) and the Indochinese C. intercomma Cerný, 2009. Despite the external similarity of C. kucheri sp. n. to C. moelleri and its allies, by the genitalia structure this species is related to C. gazella (Moore, 1872). Adults and male and female genitalia of new and related species are illustrated.

RESUMO

The arctiine genus Alphaea Walker, 1855 is distributed in North and North East India, Nepal, southern China and northern Indochina. The genus was recently reviewed by Dubatolov Kishida (2005). It is subdivided into three subgenera, Alphaea, Flavalphaea Dubatolov Kishida, 2005 and Nayaca Moore, 1979 and includes 10 valid species. During a lepidopterological expedition to the north-western part of China's Yunnan Province in May of 2018, an undetermined species of Alphaea was collected. The Chinese specimens have the wing pattern very similar to that of A. (Flavalphaea) khasiana (Rothschild, 1910), but red and black abdomen (that is orange and black in A. khasiana).

RESUMO

Barsine Walker, 1854 is a large genus of lichen moths (family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae, tribe Lithosiini) including about a hundred of valid species and widespread in Oriental tropics, mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and the southern part of the Russian Far East. During the studies of Lithosiini materials recently collected in the Chinese Province of Guangdong, we found one more, yet undescribed Barsine species. It is related to the recently described B. cacharensis Singh Kirti, 2016 by the male and female genitalia structure, but externally it is more similar to B. defecta Walker, 1854 and B. gratissima (de Joannis, 1930). The species is described below as new.

RESUMO

The genus Athaumasta Hampson, 1906 is a small genus of the subfamily Bryophilinae, distributed from Central Asia through mountains of South Siberia to the Korean Peninsula. It is closely related to the genera Victrix Staudinger and Bryophila Treitschke, but differs in forewing pattern, strong pectination of the male antennae, a narrow and dorso-laterally flattened uncus, and distally narrowed and apically pointed male valves. The taxonomy of the genus was discussed by Volynkin Pekarsky (2016). At present the genus includes 10 valid species, some of which were described recently (Volynkin 2012; Volynkin Pekarsky 2016; Pekarsky 2017), and several taxa await description (Kononenko 2016). The present paper describes a new Athaumasta species from southwestern Mongolia and north-western China related to A. pekarskyi Volynkin, 2012.
