RESUMO

As an environmentally friendly energy technology, direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) meet the needs of sustainable development. Herein, novel dicyanamide anion-based (N(CN)2-) ionic liquid (IL)-functionalized reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-supported Pt catalysts are synthesized via a facile one-pot room temperature reduction method, which show a boost in methanol oxidation performance compared with Pt/rGO. The mass activities of the as-prepared Pt/emimN(CN)2/rGO (863.6 mA mg-1Pt) and Pt/epyN(CN)2/rGO (524.9 mA mg-1Pt) are about five and three times higher than that of Pt/rGO (178.6 mA mg-1Pt), and about six and four times higher than that of Pt/C (140.2 mA mg-1Pt), respectively. The participation of ILs significantly improves the CO poisoning resistance, stability, and activity for methanol oxidation of catalysts. The relationship between the structures and conductivities of diverse ILs and the performance of Pt catalysts are studied systematically. These findings may offer a promising prospect of ILs in DMFCs.

RESUMO

The present study sought to examine whether parental phubbing was significantly related to children's social withdrawal and aggression, and determine whether positive and negative parenting behaviors mediated this association. We further examined whether parents' gender moderated the direct and indirect relationships between parental phubbing and children's social withdrawal and aggression. The participants included 465 Chinese fathers and mothers from different families, and each father or mother had one child from preschool and early school aged 4-10 years. They completed the measures regarding their experience with parental phubbing, positive and negative parenting behaviors, and children's social withdrawal and aggression. Results showed that parental phubbing was positively related to children's social withdrawal and aggression. Positive and negative parenting behaviors significantly mediated the associations between parental phubbing and children's social withdrawal and aggression. Furthermore, parents' gender moderated the relationships between parental phubbing and children's social withdrawal and aggression. Specifically, in the mediating model of positive parenting behavior, the pathways from parental phubbing to children's social withdrawal and parental phubbing to children's aggression were significantly different. In the mediating model of negative behavior, the pathway from negative parenting behavior to children's social withdrawal was significantly different.

RESUMO

Cyberbullying perpetration (CP) is a common and devastating network deviation behavior. Some parenting factors for CP have been identified, but few studies have examined the correlation between perceived maternal/paternal acceptance (PMA/PPA) and CP, and the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relation are also largely unknown. Thus, by using a cross-sectional designed questionnaire survey of 4,206 adolescents (M = 16.41 years, SD = 0.77), the current study examined the relationship between PMA/PPA and CP, as well as the mediating effect of materialism and the moderating effects of father/mother-child attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance in this relation. The results showed that PMA/PPA was protective factors of CP. The moderated mediation models showed that materialism played a partial mediation role in the relationship between PMA/PPA and CP. Moreover, the direct association of PMA/PPA with CP was exacerbated by stronger father/mother-child attachment anxiety, in contrast, it was weakened by stronger father/mother-child attachment avoidance. Besides, both father/mother-child attachment anxiety and father/mother-child attachment avoidance strengthened the direct relationship between materialism and CP, and further strengthened the indirect association of PMA/PPA with CP. This study highlighted the importance of uncovering the link between perceived parental acceptance and adolescents' CP and emphasized the underlying mechanisms, which are of great significance for the prevention and intervention of adolescents' CP.

RESUMO

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has gained much attention in tumor therapy because of its special advantages. PDT heavily depends on the oxygen, yet the tumor microenvironment (TME) is a hypoxic and acid milieu, which weakens the PDT effect. Based on the consideration that the TME deteriorated by the PDT oxygen consumption could activate the hypoxic-sensitive small-molecule drug, we designed and prepared an integrated nanocomposite including zirconium ion metal organic framework (carrier), pyropheophorbide-a (PPa, photosensitizer), and 6-amino flavone (AF, hypoxic-sensitive drug), aiming to exert a cascaded PDT-chemotherapy (CT) antitumor effect and to solve the hypoxic challenge. The prepared nanocomposite showed great stability under the physiological (pH 7.4) condition and could continuously release PPa and AF under slightly acidic pH condition (pH 6.4), suggesting a tumor microenvironment responsive feature. Systematical in vitro and in vivo researches under various conditions (light, dark, hypoxic and normoxic) have showed that the obtained Zr-MOF@PPa/AF@PEG nanoparticles (NPs) had good biocompatibility and could achieve efficient antitumor effects based on PDT- chemotherapy (CT) cascade process. Finally, bright red fluorescence was observed in the tumor cells after internalization implying an application potential in tumor imaging.

RESUMO

Boosting sufficient Li+ ion mobility in Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) is crucial for high-rate performance lithium storage. Here, an ultrafast charge storage oxygen vacancy two-dimensional (2D) LTO nanosheet was successfully fabricated through a one-pot hydrothermal method. The selectively doped Al3+ into octahedron Li+/Ti4+ 16d sites not only provide bulk oxygen vacancy and appropriate distorted TiO6 octahedra to facilitate Li+ ions diffusion, but also serve as a "pillar" to stabilize the Ti-O framework. The oxygen vacancy lowers Li+ ion diffusion energy barrier. Moreover, the 2D structure provides open diffusion channels for fast Li+ ion transport. As a result, the sample shows excellent electrochemical performance for bifunctional lithium storage. As a lithium-ion battery anode, the capacity retention reaches 112.8 mA h g-1 after 5000 cycles at 40 C with a fading rate of 0.288% per 100 cycles. Meanwhile, as a lithium-ion capacitor anode, it exhibits an excellent rate capacity of 120 mA h g-1 after 5000 cycles at 500 C with nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency. The produced LTO shows much higher rate capacity and longer lifetime than the reported LTO. Density functional theory calculations also demonstrate that oxygen vacancy can facilitate Li+ ion diffusion kinetics. The relationship between oxygen vacancy content and Li+ ions diffusion energy barrier in LTO is quantified. This work pioneers a defect engineering strategy for synthesized high-performance electrode materials.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Most studies have used cross-sectional designs, very few of which have examined the bidirectional relationship between cybervictimization and depressive symptoms. This study examined bidirectional relationships among adolescents' cybervictimization, peer pressure, and depressive symptoms, and the mediating effect of peer pressure. As a further expansion of the present study, we examined whether these relationships would vary as the roles of gender and economic stress. METHODS: Participants were 2,407 adolescents (Mage = 12.75, SD = 0.58; nmale = 1191). They provided data in two waves (12 months apart). RESULTS: Results showed that there were significant bidirectional relationships between cybervictimization and depressive symptoms and peer pressure. Peer pressure significantly mediated the relationship between cybervictimization at Time 1 and depressive symptoms at Time2. For males, the relationship between cybervictimization at Time 1 and depressive symptoms at Time2 became stronger. For females, there was no significant bidirectional relationship between cybervictimization and depressive symptoms. In addition, family socioeconomic status and adolescents perceived economic stress did not moderate the longitudinal relationships among cybervictimization, peer pressure, and depressive symptoms. LIMITATIONS: Different types of victimization needed to be included. In addition, more waves data served to explore the mediating effects. CONCLUSIONS: The increase of cybervictimization predicts higher levels of adolescents' depressive symptoms, but only for males and not for females. Peer pressure mediates the relationship between cybervictimization and depressive symptoms.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhea is related to intracranial pressure (ICP) and dynamic changes. This study investigated CSF dynamics along the optic nerve (ON) in patients with spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea. METHODS: The computed tomographic (CT) cisternographies of 66 patients (132 eyes) with spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea were analysed. The contrast-loaded CSF (CLCSF) density was measured in Hounsfield units (HU) at three regions of interest (ROIs) along the ON and adjusted by the basal cistern density. The CLCSF density and ON sheath diameter (ONSD) were analysed between both sides in the different ICP groups. RESULTS: When comparing the density of CLCSF along the ON, no significant differences were found between the ipsilateral and contralateral sides of the leakage. The distribution of CLCSF along the ON showed a highly significant density reduction from the canalicular segment to the bulbar segment on both sides. The CLCSF density significantly decreased on the ipsilateral ON in the canalicular segment and tended to decrease on the ipsilateral ON in the bulbar and canal segments compared with that on the contralateral ON in the low-ICP group. The ONSD tended to decrease on the ipsilateral side of leakage. CONCLUSIONS: According to the CLCSF density on CT cisternography, CSF dynamics along the ON may bilaterally decrease from the optic canal to the retrobulbar segment. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics are possibly influenced by differences in ICP, and a lower ICP may cause more obvious differences or impairments in CSF dynamics along the ipsilateral ON.

RESUMO

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage is a major complication after extended endonasal transsphenoidal surgery (EETSS), which is commonly used in the treatment of anterior skull base tumors. Dural suturing and graded reconstruction are promising techniques to further decrease the incidence of postoperative CSF (poCSF) leakage. The effect of continuous dural suturing in endoscopic surgery was investigated in this retrospective study. A total of 79 EETSS patients were included; the procedures were performed for subdural tumor removal by a single endoscopic neurosurgical team. Comparisons were applied between patients who did and did not undergo endoscopic dural suturing after tumor removal. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify variables that significantly influenced the incidence of poCSF leakage. In all, 79 adult patients developed Esposito's grade 3 intraoperative high-flow CSF leakage. Ten patients (12.7%) experienced poCSF leakage. One of the 36 patients who underwent intraoperative dural suturing developed poCSF leakage, compared with nine of 43 patients who did not undergo dural suturing (p = 0.016). Regression analysis showed that dural suturing could significantly decrease the incidence of poCSF leakage (p = 0.049, OR 0.108, 95% CI 0.013-0.899). Prophylactic lumbar drainage could also help decrease the CSF leakage rate. Dural suturing under endoscopy is a promising and effective method for application in skull base reconstruction after subdural skull base tumor removal. With future progress, lumbar drainage and even nasoseptal flap placement could be replaced in certain groups of patients undergoing EETSS.

RESUMO

Hierarchical lithium titanate@erbium oxide (Li4Ti5O12@Er2O3) microspheres from coating to doping were successfully synthesised by a simple and scalable one-step co-precipitation method. Microscopic observations revealed that the Li4Ti5O12@Er2O3 microspheres present a well-defined hierarchical structure and that Li4Ti5O12 is coated by the Er2O3 layer. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results demonstrate that partial Ti4+ is reduced to Ti3+ and induces oxygen vacancy because partial Er3+ dope into octahedral 16d Li+/Ti4+ sites of Li4Ti5O12. Owing to the hierarchical microsphere structure, Er2O3 coating, and Er3+ doping, the material exhibits excess rate capacity (183.7 mAh g-1 at 30C). The hierarchical microsphere structure shortens the diffusion pathways for Li+ ions. The Er2O3 coating on the surface reduces the adverse interface reaction. Importantly, oxygen vacancy induced by Er3+ doping enhances Li+ ion diffusion kinetics and offers extra space to store Li+ ions, which endows this sample with excess rate capacity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Although bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VSs) in individual NF2 patients have the same NF2 gene mutation, they often show different growth patterns. We attempted to identify factors associated with this growth pattern inconsistency. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Cranial MR images of 120 untreated VSs in 60 NF2 patients were carefully reviewed for their growth rates. Growth pattern analysis was performed on 68 VSs in 34 NF2 patients followed up for more than three years with at least three cranial MR scans. RESULTS: Patient age and tumor volume were significantly associated with NF2 VS absolute growth rates (p < 0.05). Bilateral VS growth patterns in individual NF2 patients were the same in 18 (52.9 %) and different in 16 (47.1 %) patients. Patients with consistent bilateral growth patterns were significantly younger than the inconsistent patients (21.8 ±â€¯5.8 years vs. 30.8 ±â€¯13.1 years, p = 0.014). The bilateral VS volume consistency rates were significantly higher in patients with consistent growth patterns than in patients with inconsistent growth patterns (10/18 vs. 3/16, p = 0.028). CONCLUSIONS: Patient age and volume consistency are the clinical risk factors for bilateral NF2 VS growth pattern inconsistencies. Bilateral VSs in young NF2 patients tend to have the same growth patterns. These findings may help us to predict the future clinical behavior of small NF2 VSs based on the past clinical history of the large ones.

RESUMO

Cyberbullying perpetration has become an international public health concern among adolescents. However, it is less clear whether anger rumination potentially increases adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration up to now, and there is a limited understanding of factors that may affect this relationship. Therefore, the current study examined the relationship between anger rumination and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration and attempts to determine whether moral disengagement and callous-unemotional traits moderated this relationship at the same time. Two thousand four hundred and seven Chinese adolescents completed the measurements of anger rumination, moral disengagement, callous-unemotional traits, and cyberbullying perpetration. Results showed that adolescents with high anger rumination were likely to engage in cyberbullying perpetration, even after controlling age and gender. Compare to low moral disengagement adolescents, high moral disengagement adolescents were more likely to bully others online when they have high levels of anger rumination. Moreover, anger rumination significantly predicted adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration when their moral disengagement and callous-unemotional traits were both high, or one was high. On the contrary, when adolescents' moral disengagement and callous-unemotional traits were both low, this effect became nonsignificant. The current study first explored the relationship between anger rumination and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration and clarifying the moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. Adolescents should be taught to manage and express their emotions properly, establish the right moral standards and reduce moral disengagement, as well as care more about others, in order to provide appropriate intervention.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Adult posterior fossa ependymomas (PF-EPN) with preoperative cerebrospinal metastases are extremely rare. Only 3 cases have been reported in previous literature. CASE PRESENTATION: A case of a 32-year-old male patient complained of headaches for three months. Pure tone audiometry showed a slight decrease in bilateral hearing. Auditory evoked potential indicated that the hearing on the left was slightly weaker than that on the right. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a primary tumor arising within the fourth ventricle and metastasizing to bilateral cerebellopontine angle (CPA), the third ventricle, the left lateral ventricle, T1, L1-2 and L5. A gross total resection (GTR) was performed on the lesion located in the left CPA. The histological examination showed a papillary ependymoma (WHO grade II). Immunohistochemical staining for H3K27me3 showed that nuclear positivity in more than 80% of cells. No NF2 mutation was observed. No progression was found during a 24-month follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Our data indicate that preoperative multiple metastases in adult PF-EPN are extremely rare. This kind of disease usually has a low WHO grade and a favorable prognosis. GTR should be achieved when feasible and patients need a long-term follow-up with MRI.

RESUMO

Previous studies have found some risk factors of cyberbullying. However, little is known about how mother phubbing may influence adolescent cyberbullying, and the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. "Phubbing," which is a portmanteau of "phone" and "subbing," refers to snubbing other people and focus on smartphones in social interactions. This study examined whether mother phubbing, which refers to being phubbed by one's mother, would be positively related to adolescent cyberbullying, whether perceived mother acceptance would mediate the relationship between mother phubbing and adolescent cyberbullying, and whether emotional stability would moderate the pathways between mother phubbing and adolescent cyberbullying. The sample consisted of 4,213 Chinese senior high school students (mean age 16.41 years, SD = 0.77, 53% were female). Participants completed measurements regarding mother phubbing, cyberbullying, perceived mother acceptance, and emotional stability. The results indicated that mother phubbing was positively related to cyberbullying, which was mediated by perceived mother acceptance. Further, moderated mediation analyses showed that emotional stability moderated the direct path between mother phubbing and cyberbullying and the indirect path between mother phubbing and perceived mother acceptance. This study highlighted the harmful impact of mother phubbing on adolescents by showing a positive association between mother phubbing and adolescent cyberbullying, as well as the underlying mechanisms between mother phubbing and adolescent cyberbullying.

RESUMO

Considering the prevalence of cyberbullying, the current study explores the factors associated with its perpetration. Using self-determination theory, the association of parental psychological control (PPC) with cyberbullying perpetration was examined. To explore this influencing mechanism further, psychological reactance (PRt) and materialism were examined as two mediators in this relationship. Moreover, according to the diathesis-stress model and cognitive model of resilience, psychological resilience (PRl) was examined as a moderator in the direct and indirect link between PPC and cyberbullying perpetration. To test our expectations, 804 adolescents (M = 13.12, SD = 1.16) participated in the current study using a cross-sectional design and multiple questionnaires, namely, the Chinese version of the Parental Control Questionnaire, Revised Cyber Bullying Inventory, Hong Psychological Reactance Scale, Material Values Scale for Children, and Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents. Correlation analysis indicated that PPC, PRt, materialism, and cyberbullying perpetration were significantly and positively correlated, and were significantly and negatively related to PRl. Moderated mediation analysis revealed that PRt and materialism played multiple mediating roles in the relationship between PPC and cyberbullying perpetration. Multiple mediation analysis indicated that PRl weakened the direct associations of PPC, PRt, and materialism with cyberbullying perpetration, further alleviating the indirect and direct associations of PPC with cyberbullying perpetration, supporting the moderated mediation model. Specifically, adolescents high in PPC were more likely to have stronger PRt and materialistic values, which further triggered cyberbullying perpetration. PRl can protect adolescents high in PPC from cyberbullying perpetration via weakening the direct and indirect associations of PPC with cyberbullying.

RESUMO

Although trait anger has been shown to play an important role in cyberbullying perpetration, little is known about mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. In the present study, we examined whether moral disengagement mediated the relationship between trait anger and cyberbullying perpetration, and whether this mediating process was moderated by empathy. Four hundred and fifty-five Chinese adolescents completed the measures of trait anger, moral disengagement, cyberbullying perpetration, and empathy. The results indicated that trait anger was significantly and positively associated with cyberbullying perpetration and this relationship was partially mediated by moral disengagement. Moderated mediation analysis further indicated that empathy moderated the relationship between moral disengagement and cyberbullying perpetration. This relationship became weaker for adolescents with higher levels of empathy. Results highlight the significance of identifying the mechanisms that moderate the mediated paths between trait anger and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration.

RESUMO

The current study sought to examine whether parental phubbing was significantly related to adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration and if moral disengagement mediated this relationship. We further examined whether online disinhibition moderated the direct and indirect relationships between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. The participants included 2,407 adolescents from seven middle schools in China who completed the questionnaires regarding their experience with parental phubbing, moral disengagement, cyberbullying perpetration, and online disinhibition. Results indicated that adolescents with a high level of parental phubbing were likely to cyberbully others. Moral disengagement significantly mediated the relationship between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. Furthermore, online disinhibition moderated the indirect relationship between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. Specifically, the paths from parental phubbing to moral disengagement and from moral disengagement to cyberbullying perpetration became strengthened when adolescents experienced high levels of online disinhibition.

RESUMO

Although childhood maltreatment has been shown to play an important role in adolescent cyberbullying perpetration, little is known about mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. The current study investigated the mediating role of callous-unemotional (CU) traits in the association between childhood maltreatment and adolescent cyberbullying perpetration, as well as the moderating role of perceived social support. A total of 2,407 Chinese adolescents (aged 11-16 years, Mage = 12.75 years, SD = 0.58) completed the measures of childhood maltreatment, CU traits, cyberbullying perpetration, and perceived social support. The results showed that CU traits partially mediated the relationship between childhood maltreatment and adolescent cyberbullying perpetration. Furthermore, perceived social support moderated the relationship between childhood maltreatment and CU traits, as well as CU traits and cyberbullying perpetration. Specifically, childhood maltreatment had a greater impact on CU traits for adolescents with higher levels of perceived social support and the predictive function of CU traits on cyberbullying perpetration was stronger for adolescents with low levels of perceived social support.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: With the widespread of smartphones, there is an increased interest in exploring the influences of phubbing in modern society. However, little research has examined the impact of parent phubbing (Pphubbing) or adolescent phubbing (Aphubbing) on adolescent development. This conceptual and empirical work aims to explore the unique and joint impacts of Pphubbing and Aphubbing on adolescents' depressive symptoms. METHOD: Participants were 3322 students from 64 classes of a senior high school. The data were analyzed with polynomial regressions and response surface analyses. RESULTS: The results showed that Pphubbing was positively related to Aphubbing. Pphubbing and Aphubbing were both positively associated with adolescents' depressive symptoms. In addition, when Pphubbing and Aphubbing were in congruence, adolescents' depressive symptoms would increase as the former two increased. Moreover, adolescents' depressive symptoms would decrease as the discrepancy between parent and adolescent increased. Meanwhile, attachment avoidance moderated the congruence and incongruence effects of parent-adolescent phubbing on adolescents' depressive symptoms. LIMITATIONS: This study used cross-sectional data, which cannot infer causality. CONCLUSION: The effect between parent-adolescent congruence in phubbing and adolescents' depressive symptoms is significant, and it is moderated by attachment avoidance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Childhood maltreatment plays an important role in adolescents' bullying perpetration. However, the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this association remain largely unknown. OBJECTIVES: The current study examined the relationship between childhood maltreatment and adolescents' bullying perpetration and extended previous literature by examining the mediating effect of moral disengagement and the moderating effect of trait anger in this relationship. PARTICIPANTS AND SETTING: Four hundred and thirty-five Chinese adolescents (228 girls, mean age = 13.55 years) participated in the current study. METHODS: Our theoretical model was examined using a short-term longitudinal design. During the fall of 2016, adolescents completed the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form. After six months, they completed the moral disengagement Scale, the Bullying Scale, and the Trait Anger Scale in the spring of 2017. RESULTS: The results indicated that childhood maltreatment positively predicted adolescents' bullying perpetration at six months later, and moral disengagement mediated this relationship. Trait anger moderated the relationship between moral disengagement and bullying perpetration, but not the relationship between childhood maltreatment and bullying perpetration. Specifically, high trait anger adolescents who had higher levels of moral disengagement were more likely to bully their peers than low trait anger adolescents. CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that childhood maltreatment plays an important role in adolescents' bullying perpetration, and this relationship is mediated by moral disengagement. Moreover, trait anger moderates the relationship between moral disengagement and bullying perpetration. Educators who examine adolescents' bullying perpetration should pay closer attention to their moral disengagement and trait anger, as well as their childhood maltreatment experiences, in order to provide appropriate interventions.
