RESUMO

Structural colorations have been recognized as a significant way to replace conventional organic dyes for paints, inks, packaging, and cosmetics because of brilliant colors, high stability, and eco-friendliness. However, most current structural-color pigments present an iridescent appearance, and it remains difficult to mitigate a trade-off between lowering the iridescence effect and maintaining the color saturation and brightness. Here, we demonstrate a universal yet economical approach to prepare cellulose structural-color pigments with different sizes. A combined ultrasonication and grinding treatment is explored to adjust the pigment colors as well as control the iridescence-to-non-iridescence transition that depends on the pigment size. The cellulose pigments can be applied on irregular and curved surfaces, having high water-, chemical-, and mechanical-resistances. With humidity-sensing behaviors, the pigments can be further integrated into monitoring systems for environmental management. Such a preparation strategy overcomes the limitation of controlling iridescent and non-iridescent structural colors without sacrificing color properties, which may bring more opportunities to develop new eco-friendly pigments for wide applications.

BACKGROUND: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is a reliable treatment for actinic keratosis (AK), but its effect needs to be enhanced in thick lesions. Plum-blossom needle is a traditional Chinese cost-effective instrument for enhancing the transdermal delivery of ALA. However, whether it could improve the efficacy of AK treatment has not yet been investigated. OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and safety of plum-blossom needle-assisted PDT in facial AK in the Chinese population. METHODS: In this multicenter, prospective study, a total of 142 patients with AKs (grades I-III) were randomized into the plum-blossom needle-assisted PDT group (P-PDT) and control PDT group (C-PDT). In the P-PDT group, each AK lesion was tapped vertically by a plum-blossom needle before the application of 10% ALA cream. In the C-PDT group, each lesion was only wiped with regular saline before ALA cream incubation. Then, 3 hours later, all the lesions were irradiated with light-emitting diode (LED) at a wavelength of 630 nm. PDT was performed once every 2 weeks until all lesion patients achieved complete remission or completed six sessions. The efficacy (lesion response) and safety (pain scale and adverse events) in both groups were evaluated before each treatment and at every follow-up visit at 3-month intervals until 12 months. RESULTS: In the P-PDT and C-PDT groups, the clearance rates for all AK lesions after the first treatment were 57.9% and 48.0%, respectively (P < 0.05). For grade I AK lesions, the clearance rates were 56.5% and 50.4%, respectively (P = 0.34). For grade II AK lesions, the clearance rates were 58.0% and 48.9%, respectively (P = 0.1). For grade III AK lesions, the clearance rates were 59.0% and 44.2%, respectively (P < 0.05). Moreover, grade III AK lesions in the P-PDT group required fewer treatment sessions (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the pain score between the two groups (P = 0.752). CONCLUSION: Plum-blossom needle tapping may enhance the efficacy of ALA-PDT by facilitating ALA delivery in the treatment of AK.

There will be generated some adverse conditions in the process of acquculture farming with the continuous improvement of the intensive degree of modern aquaculture, such as crowding stress, hypoxia, and malnutrition, which will easily lead to oxidative stress. Se is an effective antioxidant, participating and playing an important role in the antioxidant defense system of fish. This paper reviews the physiological functions of selenoproteins in resisting oxidative stress in aquatic animals, the mechanisms of different forms of Se in anti-oxidative stress in aquatic animals and the harmful effects of lower and higher levels of Se in aquaculture. To summarize the application and research progress of Se in oxidative stress in aquatic animals and provide scientific references for its application in anti-oxidative stress in aquaculture.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed malignancies in females, and its incidence has increased dramatically recently. Clinical studies have shown that BC patients are developing double primary cancers more frequently than by chance, and the prognosis has changed greatly. Previous articles rarely mentioned metachronous double primary cancers in BC survivors. Thus, further analysis of the clinical characteristics and survival differences may provide valuable information in BC survivors. Methods: In this study, we retrospectively analyzed 639 cases of double primary cancers in BC patients. Cox univariate and multivariate regression analyses of clinical factors of overall survival (OS) were performed in patients with double primary cancers when breast cancer was the primary tumor to assess the correlation between clinical factors and OS in these patients with double primary cancers. Results: Among the double primary cancer patients, BC was the most frequent first primary cancer. In terms of numbers, thyroid cancer was the most common type of double primary cancer among BC survivors. Patients had a younger median age when BC occurred as the first primary cancer rather than the second primary cancer. The total mean time interval between the onset of double primary tumors was 70.8 months. With the exception of the thyroid and cervical cancer, the incidence of second primary tumors was <60% within 5 years. However, the incidence was >60% within 10 years. The mean OS of double primary cancer patients was 109.8 months. Additionally, patients who had thyroid cancer as their second primary cancer had the highest 5-year survival rate, followed by cervical, colon, and endometrial cancer, while patients who had lung cancer as their second primary cancer had the lowest 5-year survival rate. OS risk of BC survivors with second primary cancers was significantly associated with age, menopause status, family history, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status. Conclusions: The identification of double primary cancers in earlier stages could play a critical role in guidance and lead to better outcomes. A prolonged follow-up examination period for BC survivors is needed to provide better guidance and treatments.

Objective: Among stroke patients, exercise adherence is an important factor in reducing the rate of physical disability and mortality. Rehabilitation exercise after stroke is a safe and effective measure to restore normal body functions, but the analysis of factors influencing patients' motivation for rehabilitation is not well established. Therefore, this study will explore the influencing factors of rehabilitation motivation in older adults with stroke so as to reduce the disability rate of stroke. Method: A convenience sampling method was used to study 350 patients in a stroke ward of a tertiary care hospital in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province. Patients' general demographic data, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (PSSS), Questionnaire of Exercise Adherence (EAQ), Tampa scale of kinesiophobia (TSK-11), and Motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale (MORE) were assessed. ANOVA or t-test analysis, correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis were used to explore the factors influencing the motivation for rehabilitation in older adults with stroke. Results: The results showed that stroke patients' motivation for rehabilitation was at a moderate level. Perceived social support, exercise adherence, and stroke motivation were positively correlated (r = 0.619, p < 0.01; r = 0.569, p < 0.01), and kinesiophobia was negatively correlated with stroke motivation (r = -0.677, p < 0.01). Time of stroke, location of the lesion, perceived social support, exercise adherence, and kinesiophobia are influential factors affecting patients' motivation to recover. Conclusion: In the rehabilitation program for older adult patients with stroke, healthcare providers should specify targeted rehabilitation measures according to the different degrees of the patient's condition, so as to improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation medical implementation.

BACKGROUND: Delirium is associated with dementia, which shares symptoms of cognitive dysfunctions. Notably, pathological mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease (AD) appear involved in both conditions. Insulin resistance has been reported to be a risk factor for AD, leading to neurodegeneration and cognitive impairment by affecting amyloid-beta (Aß) metabolism, tau phosphorylation, and neuro-inflammation. Thus, insulin resistance may provide pathophysiological clues to the occurrence of delirium. AIM: To investigate the relationship between preoperative insulin resistance, insulin concentrations in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and delirium in elderly patients with hip fracture. METHODS: The study included 138 elderly patients with or without pre-existing dementia who underwent hip fracture surgery. Delirium was diagnosed with the confusion assessment method performed daily from pre-operation to 5 days post-operation. CSF and blood samples were collected at the beginning of spinal anesthesia. The concentrations of insulin, amyloid-beta1-42 (Aß42), total tau (t-tau), and phosphorylated tau (p-tau)181 were determined by ELISA. Homeostasis model assessment (HOMA-IR) was used to assess insulin resistance. RESULTS: Sixty-one (44%) of 138 hip fracture patients developed delirium peri-operatively. Compared to non-delirium group, the preoperative HOMA-IR index in delirium was much higher (median 3.3 vs 2.8, p = 0.001), but the CSF insulin concentration was significantly decreased (median 1.5 vs 2.2 mU/L, p < 0.001). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that HOMA-IR index and CSF insulin concentration were independent risk factors for delirium (p < 0.05). HOMA-IR index was negatively correlated with CSF insulin concentrations (rho = - 0.55, p < 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that AD core biomarkers were significantly correlated with HOMA-IR index and CSF insulin level (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: This study innovatively examined insulin concentrations in serum and cerebrospinal fluid in patients with delirium. Our findings suggest that preoperative insulin resistance may affect the occurrence of delirium. The potential association between insulin resistance and delirium may be related to insulin resistance affecting the metabolism of AD biomarkers.

This experiment was done to study the zeolite molecular sieve as a drug-binding effector, the non-antibiotic drug potassium diformate uniformly disperse in the internal aqueous phase of the 'egg box' structure formed by pectin-calcium ions. With oil phase as the intermediate phase and Xanthan gum Chitosan as the external water phase, the W/O/W type sustained release bacteriostatic microcapsules with pH response were prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared, thermogravimetric, SEM, and TEM. It can be obtained through characterization experiments that the inner water phase, oil phase, and outer water phase were formed by observation, and W/O/W emulsion microcapsules were obtained and the bacteriostasis effect of microcapsules was verified by bacteriostasis experiment. The permeance experiment showed that the molecular sieve was successfully coated in the microsphere. Studying on drug release mechanism and sustaining release performance of composite emulsion microcapsules. In vitro drug release study showed that the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading rate of microcapsules were improved by adding molecular sieve, reaching 12.31% and 61.55%, respectively. At the same time, we observed that the drug release rate slowed down during the simulated intestinal release process, and the drug release kinetics were in line with the first-order kinetic model and Ritger-Peppas model equation. Experiments had proven that the drug-loaded microcapsules exerted a significant bacteriostatic effect on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis, with the highest antibacterial rates of 97.25%, 94.05%, and 95.93%, respectively. Therefore, the composite emulsion microcapsules can be used as a new controlled-release drug delivery system in vivo.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is still an incurable disorder despite improved antibody and cellular therapies against different MM antigens. Single targeted antigens have so far been ineffective against MM with most patients relapsing after initial response. Hence, sequential immunotherapies directed at different targets are expected to perform better than monotherapy alone. Here, we optimized and established in preclinical studies the therapeutic rationale of using targeted alpha therapy (TAT) directed against CD38 antigen (225Ac-DOTA-daratumumab) with CAR T cell therapy directed at CS1 antigen in a systemic MM model. The sequential therapies compared CAR T therapy followed by TAT to TAT followed by CAR T therapy. CAR T cell monotherapy increased median survival from 49 days (d) in untreated controls to 71d with a modest improvement to 89d for 3.7 kBq of TAT given 14d later. When CAR T was followed by 7.4 kBq of TAT 29d later, sequential therapy increased median survival from 47d in untreated controls to 106d, compared to 68d for CAR T monotherapy. When CAR T therapy was followed by untargeted alpha immunotherapy using 7.4 kBq of 225Ac-DOTA-trastuzumab (anti-HER2) antibody 29d later, there was only a slight improvement in response over CAR T monotherapy demonstrating the role of tumor targeting. TAT (7.4 kBq) followed by CAR T therapy was also effective when CAR T therapy was delayed for 21d vs 14d or 28d post TAT, highlighting the importance of timing sequential therapies. Sequential targeted therapies using CS1 CAR T or 225Ac-DOTA-CD38 TAT in either order shows promise over monotherapies alone.

Background: Essential medicines are the backbone of healthcare and meet the priority healthcare needs of the population. However, approximately one-third of the global population does not have access to essential medicines. Although China formulated essential medicine policies in 2009, the progress of availability of essential medicines and regional variations remains unknown. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the availability of essential medicines, their progress, and regional distribution in China in the last decade. Methods: We searched eight databases from their inception to February 2022, relevant websites, and reference lists of included studies. Two reviewers selected studies, extracted data, and evaluated the risk of bias independently. Meta-analyses were performed to quantify the availability of essential medicines, their progress, and regional distribution. Results: Overall 36 cross-sectional studies conducted from 2009 to 2019 were included, with regional data for 14 provinces. The availability of essential medicines in 2015-2019 [28.1%, 95% confidence interval (CI): 26.4-29.9%] was similar to that in 2009-2014 (29.4%, 95% CI: 27.5-31.3%); lower in the Western region (19.8%, 95% CI: 18.1-21.5%) than Eastern (33.8%, 95% CI: 31.6-36.1%) and Central region (34.5%, 95% CI: 30.6-38.5%); very low for 8 Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) categories (57.1%), and low for 5 categories (35.7%) among all ATC groups. Conclusion: The availability of essential medicines in China is low compared with the World Health Organization goal, has not changed much in the last decade, is unequal across regions, and lacks data for half of provinces. For policy-making, the monitoring system of the availability of essential medicines is to be strengthened to enable long-term surveillance, especially in provinces where the data has been missing. Meanwhile, Joint efforts from all stakeholders are warranted to improve the availability of essential medicines in China toward the universal health coverage target. Takifugu obscurus has relatively small gills and gill pores, leading to a relatively low respiratory capacity and increased vulnerability to low dissolved oxygen (DO) levels compared to other fish. To investigate the responses of T. obscurus to acute hypoxic stress, high-throughput-sequencing-based transcriptomic analyses were conducted here to assess the responses of T. obscurus gills to acute hypoxic stress. Three environmental conditions were compared including normoxia (DO: 7.0 ± 0.2 mg/L), hypoxic stress (DO: 0.9 ± 0.2 mg/L), and reoxygenation (4, 8, 12, and 24 h after return to normoxia) conditions to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) responsive to hypoxia. A total of 992, 877, 1561, 1412, and 679 DEGs were identified in the normoxia and reoxygenation for 4, 8, 12, and 24 h groups in comparison to the hypoxia groups, respectively. The DEGs were primarily associated with oxidative stress, growth and development, and immune responses. Further functional annotation enrichment analysis of the DEGs revealed that they were primarily related to cytokine-cytokine interactions, transforming growth factor ß receptor (TGF-ß), cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway, and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. These results provide new insights into the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of T. obscurus adaptations to hypoxic stress. Furthermore, these results provide a framework for future studies into the molecular mechanisms of hypoxia tolerance and the healthy culture of T. obscurus and other fish.

K metal battery is a kind of high-energy-density storage device with economic advantages. However, due to the dendrite growth and difficult processing characteristics, it is difficult to prepare stable K metal anode with thin thickness and fixed area capacity, which severely limits its development. In this work, a multi-functional 3D skeleton (rGCA) is synthesized by simple vacuum filtration and thermal reduction, and K metal anodes with controllable thickness and area capacity (K content) can be fabricated by changing the raw material mass and graphene layer spacing of rGCA. Moreover, the graphene sheet layer of rGCA can relax stress and relieve volume expansion; carbon nanotubes can serve as the fast transport channel of electrons, reducing internal impedance and local current density; Ag nanoparticles can induce the uniform nucleation and deposition of K+ . The K metal composite anodes (rGCA-K) based on the conductive skeleton can effectively suppress dendrites and exhibit excellent electrochemical performance in symmetric and full cells. The controllable fabrication process of stable K metal anode is expected to help K metal batteries move toward the stage of commercial production.

Ceramic products are among the most frequently used food contact materials. Health risks associated with ceramic tableware usually arise from the migration of heavy metals. In this study, 767 pieces of ceramic tableware of different shapes and types were collected across China, and the migration levels of 18 elements were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Migration tests were conducted according to the Chinese National Food Safety Standard - Ceramic Ware (GB 4806.4) with microwaveable and non-microwavable samples under different conditions. The food consumption of consumers via different shapes of ceramic tableware was obtained through a self-reported web-based survey, and the estimated dietary intakes of the studied elements were calculated accordingly. The exposure assessment showed that certain metals leached from the ceramic tableware at levels of concern. In addition, the applicability of the migration experiment conditions for microwaveable ceramic ware in GB 4806.4 needs to be further investigated.

OBJECTIVE: Numerous studies indicate that immune-related genes (IRGs) are closely related to tumorigenesis and tumor progression. We aimed to establish a robust IRGs-based signature to predict risk of recurrence for patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). METHODS: Gene expression profiles were acquired to select differentially expressed IRGs (DEIRGs) between tumor and adjacent normal tissues. Functional enrichment analysis was performed to explore the biological roles of DEIRGs in LSCC. Univariate Cox analyses and LASSO regression model were used to construct a IRGs-based signature with the ability to predict recurrence for LSCC patients. RESULTS: A total of 272 DEIRGs were identified, of which 20 DEIRGs were significantly associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS). Subsequently, we constructed an eleven-IRGs signature that could classify patients into high-risk or low-risk groups in TCGA-LSCC training cohort. Patients in high-risk groups suffered from shorter RFS (log-rank p = 9.69E-06). Besides, the recurrence rate of high-risk group was significantly higher than that of low-risk group (41.1% vs. 13.7%; Fisher's exact test p < 0.001). The predictive performance was validated in an independent cohort (GSE27020, log-rank p = 1.43E-03). Person correlation analysis showed that the risk scores calculated by eleven-IRGs signature were significantly associated with filtrating immune cells. Furthermore, three immune checkpoint molecules were significantly over-expressed in the high-risk group. CONCLUSION: Our findings for the first time constructed a robust IRGs-based signature to precisely predict risk of recurrence and further provided a deeper understanding of IRGs regulatory mechanism in LSCC pathogenesis.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of resveratrol (Res) on paclitaxel (PTX)-induced cognitive impairment and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: Morris Water Maze (MWM) test was used to evaluate the mice's spatial learning and memory abilities. Western blotting was applied to detect protein expression of receptor-interacting protein (RIP3), mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL), silencing information regulator 2 related enzyme 1 (SIRT1), peroxisome proliferator activated receptor coactivator-1 (PGC-1α), NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2), NOX4, postsynaptic density zone 95 (PSD95), arginase-1 (Arg-1) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). Immunofluorescence of RIP3, MLKL, Arg-1, Iba-1 and iNOS was conducted to observe the apoptosis of hippocampal cells and the polarization of microglia. qRT-PCR was performed to detect BDNF mRNA expressions. DHE staining was used to assess the level of oxidative stress response. Golgi-Cox staining and dendritic spine counting were applied to visualize synaptic structural plasticity. Postsynaptic density was performed by transmission electron microscope. ELISA was used to detect the contents of tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), IL-1ß, IL-4, and IL-10. Results: PTX-induced cognitive impairment model was constructed after the application of PTX, represented as longer latency to platform and less platform crossing times over the whole period in PTX group. After Res treatment, the above indicators were reversed, indicating that cognitive function was improved. Moreover, Res reduced neuronal apoptosis and oxidative stress through SIRT1/PGC-1α pathway in mice, manifesting as down-regulated expression of RIP3, MLKL, NOX2 and NOX4. Meanwhile, Res increased the density of dendritic spines and the expression of PSD95 and BDNF, thereby ameliorating the PTX induced synaptic damage. Besides, M2 microglia was in the majority, eliciting the expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-4 and IL-10 after Res treatment in PTX+Res group, while immunofluorescence images results demonstrated an decrease in the proportion of M2 microglia a following SIRT1 inhibitor EX-527. Conclusion: Res improves PTX-induced cognitive impairment in mice by activating SIRT1/PGC-1α pathways to regulate neuronal state and microglia cell polarization.

Background: We previously found that modified 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (M-PDT) is painless and effective in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) treatment, however, the regulatory mechanism of M-PDT in cSCC is still unclear. Objective: To clarify the effect and relevant regulatory mechanism of M-PDT in cSCC. Methods: The cSCC apoptosis was examined by flow cytometry, TUNEL staining and Cleaved-caspase-3 immunofluorescence, respectively. The autophagy-related characterization was detected by monodansylcadaverine (MDC) staining, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), GFP-LC3B autophagic vacuoles localization and mRFP-EGFP tandem fluorescence-tagged LC3B construct, respectively. The expression of autophagy-related proteins and Akt/mTOR signaling molecules were examined by Western blot. ROS generation was measured by DCFH-DA probe. Results: We found that M-PDT induced cSCC apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner, and this result was related to autophagic flux blockage. The phenomenon is confirmed by the results that M-PDT could induce autophagosomes accumulation and upregulate LC3-II and p62 expression. M-PDT elevated co-localization of RFP and GFP tandem-tagged LC3B puncta in cSCC cell, reflecting autophagic flux blockage, and this was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. Furthermore, we noticed that M-PDT induced accumulated autophagosomes-dependent apoptosis via targeting ROS-mediated Akt/mTOR signaling. Suppression of Akt potentiated M-PDT-induced upregulation of LC3-II and p62 levels, whereas Akt activation and ROS inhibition rendered resistance to these events. In addition, we observed that lysosomal dysfunction was involved in M-PDT-triggered accumulated autophagosomes-dependent cSCC apoptosis. Conclusion: Our data demonstrates that M-PDT inhibits cSCC through blocking Akt/mTOR-mediated autophagic flux.

BACKGROUND: Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F provided the source of the first diterpenoid triepoxide lactone, Triptolide, identified as the primary constituent causing the anticancer activity. So far, it has not been reported whether triptolide has a therapeutic effect on cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). This study investigates the triptolide's therapeutic impact on cSCC both in vitro and in vivo and investigates the triptolide's potential involvement in signaling pathways. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The CCK-8 assays, wound healing assays, and colony formation assays were used to assess the effects of triptolide on the proliferation and migration of cSCC cells. The alteration in gene expression following triptolide treatment was shown by RNA sequencing. Flow cytometry was then applied to evaluate cell apoptosis. Western blot was used to find the associated proteins' expressions. The effectiveness of triptolide was then evaluated in vivo using a xenograft model, and histological staining was employed to determine the visceral toxicity. RESULTS: Triptolide greatly reduces the migratory and proliferative capacity of cSCC cells. Triptolide dramatically decreased cell viability and migration in the A431 and SCL-1 cells compared to the control group, according to the CCK8 assay, wound healing assay, and colony formation assay. Flow cytometry demonstrated that treatment with 10-40 nM triptolide increased apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner, with a statistically significant difference. Furthermore, mice given triptolide had smaller tumor sizes than those in the control group. Triptolide treatment drastically altered the expression of autophagic and apoptotic proteins. The considerable reduction in the proteins Akt and mTOR levels further illustrated the critical function of triptolide in cSCC. CONCLUSION: Triptolide caused cSCC cells to engage in autophagy and apoptosis by inhibiting the Akt/mTOR signaling pathways. Triptolide may be a possible antitumor agent for the treatment of cSCC.

Background: Café-au-lait macules (CALMs) are common birthmarks associated with several genetic syndromes, such as neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Isolated CALMs are defined as multiple café-au-lait macules in patients without any other sign of NF1. Typical CALMs can have predictive significance for NF1, and non-invasive techniques can provide more accurate results for judging whether café-au-lait spots are typical. Objectives: The study aimed to investigate gene mutations in six Chinese Han pedigrees of isolated CALMs and summarize the characteristics of CALMs under dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM). Methods: In this study, we used Sanger sequencing to test for genetic mutations in six families and whole exome sequencing (WES) in two families. We used dermoscopy and RCM to describe the imaging characteristics of CALMs. Results: In this study, we tested six families for genetic mutations, and two mutations were identified as novel mutations. The first family identified [NC_000017.11(NM_001042492.2):c.7355G>A]. The second family identified [NC_000017.11(NM_001042492.2):c.2739_2740del]. According to genotype-phenotype correlation analyses, proband with frameshift mutation tended to have a larger number of CALMs and a higher rate of having atypical CALMs. Dermoscopy showed uniform and consistent tan-pigmented network patches with poorly defined margins with a lighter color around the hair follicles. Under RCM, the appearance of NF1 comprised the increased pigment granules in the basal layer and significantly increased refraction. Conclusion: A new heterozygous mutation and a new frameshift mutation of NF1 were reported. This article can assist in summarizing the properties of dermoscopy and RCM with CALMs.

Introduction: As the world becomes increasingly urbanized and human-nature contact declines, urban greenspace's impact on human health has garnered growing interest across academic disciplines. Various definitions and multiple indicators of greenspace have been utilized, with most studies finding an overall positive association between greenspace and health. Nevertheless, studies directly comparing how different greenspace indicators impact different disease types have been limited. Moreover, to verify the robustness of conclusions drawn, studies should compare multiple measures of greenspace across various spatial scales. Thus, a more comprehensive analysis is necessary to help inform future study design, especially in determining which greenspace indicators would be most useful in data-limited areas. Methods: Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, is West China's largest and most urban city, being typical of other large cities in lower to middle-income countries (LMICs). With twenty county-level jurisdictions spanning various degrees of urbanization, Chengdu's landscape heterogeneity and large population make it ideal for studying greenspace's impact on public health. This study took Chengdu as a case study to assess the association and potential impact of three traditional measures of greenspace (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, Enhanced Vegetation Index, and Fractional Vegetation Cover) and urban ratio (% of population being urban) on hospitalization rates and medical expenses paid for three major disease categories (circulatory system diseases, neoplasms, and respiratory system diseases). Results and discussion: We found greenspace did have a significant impact on public health, but this relationship differed by disease type. Greenspace exhibited significant positive association with respiratory diseases, but insignificant negative associations with the other disease categories. Urban ratio showed significant negative association with greenspace abundance. The higher the urban ratio (e.g., less greenspace), the more money was paid on medical expenses. This relationship was found not only in terms of urban ratio being positively correlated with medical expenses, but also in that all three greenspace indicators were negatively correlated with medical expenses. Consequently, in future health outcome studies, urban ratio could be an acceptable negative indicator of greenness in LMICs where urban ratio is likely to imply less greenness.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies. Although some patients benefit from immunotherapy, the majority of patients have unsatisfactory immunotherapy outcomes, and the clinical significance of immune-related genes in gastric cancer remains unknown. We used the single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) method to evaluate the immune cell content of gastric cancer patients from TCGA and clustered patients based on immune cell scores. The Weighted Correlation Network Analysis (WGCNA) algorithm was used to identify immune subtype-related genes. The patients in TCGA were randomly divided into test 1 and test 2 in a 1:1 ratio, and a machine learning integration process was used to determine the best prognostic signatures in the total cohort. The signatures were then validated in the test 1 and the test 2 cohort. Based on a literature search, we selected 93 previously published prognostic signatures for gastric cancer and compared them with our prognostic signatures. At the single-cell level, the algorithms "Seurat," "SCEVAN", "scissor", and "Cellchat" were used to demonstrate the cell communication disturbance of high-risk cells. WGCNA and univariate Cox regression analysis identified 52 prognosis-related genes, which were subjected to 98 machine-learning integration processes. A prognostic signature consisting of 24 genes was identified using the StepCox[backward] and Enet[alpha = 0.7] machine learning algorithms. This signature demonstrated the best prognostic performance in the overall, test1 and test2 cohort, and outperformed 93 previously published prognostic signatures. Interaction perturbations in cellular communication of high-risk T cells were identified at the single-cell level, which may promote disease progression in patients with gastric cancer. We developed an immune-related prognostic signature with reliable validity and high accuracy for clinical use for predicting the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer.

The interfacial barrier of charge transfer from semiconductors to cocatalysts means that the photogenerated charges cannot be fully utilized, especially for the challenging water oxidation reaction. Using cobalt cubane molecules (Co4 O4 ) as water oxidation cocatalysts, we rationally assembled partially oxidized graphene (pGO), acting as a charge-transfer mediator, on the hole-accumulating {-101} facets of lead chromate (PbCrO4 ) crystal. The assembled pGO enables preferable immobilization of Co4 O4 molecules on the {-101} facets of the PbCrO4 crystal, which is favorable for the photogenerated holes transferring from PbCrO4 to Co4 O4 molecules. The surface charge-transfer efficiency of PbCrO4 was boosted by selective assembly of pGO between PbCrO4 and Co4 O4 molecules. An apparent quantum efficiency for photocatalytic water oxidation on the Co4 O4 /pGO/PbCrO4 photocatalyst exceeded 10 % at 500 nm. This strategy of rationally assembling charge-transfer mediator provides a feasible method for acceleration of charge transfer and utilization in semiconductor photocatalysis.
