RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to characterize the antimicrobial resistance produced by mobile genetic elements and integron gene cassettes in Escherichia coli isolated from the feces of captive giant pandas. We performed a standard disk diffusion antimicrobial susceptibility test with 84 E. coli isolates and further evaluated the mobile genetic elements and integron gene cassettes. The antimicrobial susceptibility test demonstrated that 43.37% (36/84) of the isolates showed multiple drug resistances. The E. coli isolates mainly showed resistance to aztreonam (86.90%, 73/84) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (80.95%, 68/84). The most frequently observed resistance patterns were ampicillin/amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (13.10%, n = 11), and doxycycline/amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (4.76%, n = 4). Further analyses detected 11 mobile genetic elements, of which merA (54/84, 64.30%) had the highest frequency. All isolates were negative for intI3, traA, tnpU, traF, tnp513, tnsA, ISkpn7, ISpa7, ISkpn6, and ISCR1. We further analyzed antimicrobial resistance-related integrons among 30 E. coli isolates (the 27 intI1-positive isolates and the 3 intI2-positive isolates); six gene cassette profiles (dfrA17+aadA5, aadA2, dfrA12+aadA2, dfrA1+aadA1, dfrA1, and aadA1) were identified in the 27 intI1-positive isolates, but not in the three intI2-positive ones. Our study sheds light on the prevalence of multiple drug resistances and the diversity of mobile genetic elements in E. coli isolates, and highlights the necessity to monitor antibiotic resistance in more E. coli strains from captive giant pandas.

NF-κB is a key signaling pathway molecule linking hepatoma and chronic inflammation. Inhibition of NF-κB activation can alleviate inflammation, and promote hepatoma cell apoptosis. In this study, a series of fluoro-substituted 1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydropyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidines (PPMs, 31-57) were synthesized from 3,5-bis(arylidene)-4-piperidones (BAPs, 4-30) based on scaffold hopping. We successfully discovered the most potent 43 substituted by electron-withdrawing substitutes (3-F and 4-CF3) exhibited less toxicity and higher anti-inflammatory activity. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that 43 induced dose-dependent cell apoptosis at cell and protein level, while inhibited NF-κB activation by suppressing LPS-induced phosphorylation levels of p65, IκBα and Akt, and by indirectly suppressing MAPK signaling, and by inhibiting the nuclear translocation of NF-κB induced by TNF-α or LPS. Docking analysis verified simulated 43 could reasonably bind to the active site of Bcl-2, p65 and p38 proteins. This compound, as a novel NF-κB inhibitor, also demonstrated both anti-inflammatory and anti-hepatoma activities, warranting its further development as a potential multifunctional agent for the clinical treatment of liver cancers and inflammatory diseases.

High-level ab initio computations have been performed on the experimentally unknown species SCl+. The low-lying Λ-S electronic states correlated to the first and the second dissociation channels as well as their corresponding Ω states have been investigated by the icMRCI+Q methodology employing basis sets up to quintuple-ζ quality. Information about potential energy curves, electron configurations, spectroscopic constants, dipole moments and transition properties are derived and discussed. The results for SCl+ represent an improvement over our previous theoretical descriptions for the ground state. In addition, several low-lying excited states that have not been accessed experimentally and theoretically are also been well characterized in this work. The accuracy of our predictions for SCl+ are verified by comparisons of spectroscopic constants and vibrational levels between our accompany SCl computations and those reported in literatures for the neutral species. The feasibility of performing laser cooling of SCl+ has also been discussed and the photoelectron spectrum of SCl+(X3Σ-) + e â† SCl(X2Π) is simulated.

Two sulfated fucoidan fractions (Lj3 and Lj5) were extracted from Saccharina japonica and then subjected to acid hydrolysis to obtain Lj3h and Lj5h. Lj3h and Lj5h were characterized using IR, methylation analysis, and mass spectrometry. It was found that Lj3h and Lj5h were homogeneous low molecular weight fucoidans. Specifically, Lj3h was composed of the main chain of 1,3-linked α-L-fucopyranose residues with sulfate at C-2 and/or C-4 and three different monosaccharides (galactose, glucose, mannose) branched at C-2 and/or C-4 of fucose residue. Lj5h contained backbones of alternating galactopyranose residues and fucopyranose residues attached via a 1-3 linkage (galactofucan) and 1-6 linked galactan. The sulfation pattern was mainly located at C2/C4 fucose or galactose residues and more branches occupied in C-4 of fucose residue and C-2, C-3 or/and C-6 of galactose residue. In vitro assay indicated among the four fucoidans tested, only Lj5 showed potent α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 of 153.27 ± 22.89 µg/mL, and the two parent fucoidans, Lj3 and Lj5, showed better antioxidant activity than their derivatives. These findings highlight the structure and bioactivity diversity of Saccharina japonica-derived fucoidans.

BACKGROUND: Autophagy is highly active in neuroepithelial cells of the developing neuroepithelium, and impaired autophagy leads to neural tube defects (NTDs). We have demonstrated that maternal diabetes induces NTDs, and that impaired autophagy and consequent cellular imbalance, including the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where critical events occur leading to the induction of diabetic embryopathy. Because the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway suppresses autophagy, we hypothesize that p70S6K1 (70 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1), a major downstream effector of mTOR, mediates the inhibitory effect of maternal diabetes on autophagy in the developing neuroepithelium. OBJECTIVE: We investigated whether p70S6K1 mediates the inhibitory effect of maternal diabetes on autophagy during neurulation. We also examined if p70S6K1 deficiency restores autophagy and thus relieves ER stress and inhibits maternal diabetes-induced apoptosis, which leads to reduction in NTD incidence in diabetic embryopathy. STUDY DESIGN: Female p70S6K1 heterogeneous knockout (p70S6K1+/-) mice were bred with male p70S6K1 heterogeneous knockout (p70S6K1+/-) mice to generate wild type (WT), p70S6K1+/- and p70S6K1 knockout (p70S6K1-/-) embryos. Embryos at embryonic day 8.5 (E8.5) were harvested for the assessment of indices of autophagy, ER stress and apoptosis. NTDs incidence was determined in E10.5 embryos. For in vitro studies, siRNA knockdown of p70S6K1 in C17.2 mouse neural stem cells were used to determine the effect of p70S6K1 deficiency on autophagy impairment and ER stress under high glucose conditions. RESULTS: Knockout of the Rps6kb1 gene, which encodes for p70S6K1, ameliorated maternal diabetes-induced NTDs and restored autophagosome formation in neuroepithelial cells suppressed by maternal diabetes. Maternal diabetes-suppressed conversion of LC3-I (Microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3) to LC3-II, an index of autophagic activity, in neurulation stage embryos was abrogated in the absence of p70S6K1. p70S6K1 knockdown in neural stem cells also restored autophagosome formation and the conversion of LC3-I to LC3-II. The activation of the major unfolded protein response (UPR), indicated by phosphorylation of IRE1α, PERK and eIF2α, and the increase of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress marker, CHOP, were induced by maternal diabetes in vivo and high glucose in vitro. UPR and ER stress induced by maternal diabetes or high glucose were diminished by Rps6kb1deletionor p70S6K1 knockdown, respectively. Rps6kb1knockoutblocked maternal diabetes-induced caspase cleavage and neuroepithelial cell apoptosis. The SOD memetic Tempol abolished high glucose-induced p70S6K1 activation. CONCLUSION: We revealed the critical involvement of p70S6K1 in the pathogenesis of diabetic embryopathy.

The serious ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is one of the key risk factors for lung cancer. However, existing studies on the health effects of PM2.5 in China were less considered the regional transport of PM2.5 concentration. In this study, we aim to explore the association between lung cancer and PM2.5 and then forecast the PM2.5-induced lung cancer morbidity and mortality in China. Ridge regression (RR), partial least squares regression (PLSR), model tree-based (MT) regression, regression tree (RT) approach, and the combined forecasting model (CFM) were alternative forecasting models. The result of the Pearson correlation analysis showed that both local and regional scale PM2.5 concentration had a significant association with lung cancer mortality and morbidity and compared with the local lag and regional lag exposure to ambient PM2.5; the regional lag effect (0.172~0.235 for mortality; 0.146~0.249 for morbidity) was not stronger than the local lag PM2.5 exposure (0.249~0.294 for mortality; 0.215~0.301 for morbidity). The overall forecasting lung cancer morbidity and mortality were 47.63, 47.86, 39.38, and 39.76 per 100,000 population. The spatial distributions of lung cancer morbidity and mortality share a similar spatial pattern in 2015 and 2016, with high lung cancer morbidity and mortality areas mainly located in the central to east coast areas in China. The stakeholders would like to implement a cross-regional PM2.5 control strategy for the areas characterized as a high risk of lung cancer.

A sulfated glucurono-xylo-rhamnan (EP-3-H) was purified from a green alga, Enteromorpha prolifera. EP-3-H and its oligomers were characterized by high performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and one and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resource spectroscopy. The structural analysis showed EP-3-H has a backbone of glucurono-xylo-rhamnan, branches with glucuronic acid and sulfated at C3 of rhamnose and/or C2 of xylose. The inhibition of EP-3-H on human lung cancer A549 cell proliferation in vitro and its therapeutic effects in BALB/c-nu mice in vivo were determined to evaluate the anti-lung cancer activity of EP-3-H. The tumor inhibition level was 59 %, suggesting that EP-3-H might be a good candidate for the treatment of lung cancer. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) studies revealed the IC50 on the binding of fibroblast growth factors, (FGF1 and FGF2), to heparin were 0.85 and 1.47 mg/mL, respectively. These results suggest that EP-3-H inhibits cancer proliferation by interacting with these growth factors.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and safety of the postoperative long-term effect of the treatment of single-level cervical spondylosis through anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and artificial cervical disc replacement (ACDR). METHODS: This is a retrospective contrastive study, which was conducted for the period of January 2007 and January 2009 at the Department of Spine Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. A total of 113 patients were divided into two groups depending on the operation method: ACDF group (fusion group, n = 66) and ACDR group (replacement group, n = 47). The ACDR group comprised of 23 males and 24 females. The age of these patients ranged from 31-60 years, with an average age of 42.89 ± 6.30 years. The ACDF group comprised of 38 males and 28 females. The age of these patients ranged from 28-73 years old, with an average age of 49.38 ± 9.89 years old. The evaluation index included the visual analogue scale (VAS), neck disability index (NDI), range of motion, dysphagia, adjacent vertebral disease, and related complications (prosthesis displacement, heterotopic ossification, etc.). RESULTS: A total of 113 patients met the inclusion criteria, and these patients receive more than 96 months of follow-up. The VAS and NDI of these two groups of patients significantly improved, when compared with those before the operation. In the last follow-up visit, the range of motion in the ACDR group and ACDF group was 43.22 ± 3.58 and 32.54 ± 2.82, respectively, and both are significantly different comparing to the values measured before the operation (P < 0.05). The dysphagia incidence of the ACDR group was higher than that of the ACDF group at the 36th month, but was lower than that of the ACDF group in other points time. In the last follow-up visit, six patients (12.77%) in the ACDR group and 18 patients (27.27%) in the ACDF suffered from adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). The general complication rate in the replacement group and fusion group was 38.31% and 37.88%, respectively, but the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Overall, the clinical efficacy and related complication rate of single-level cervical spondylosis after an anterior cervical approach operation was superior in the ACDR group when compared to the ACDF group.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) analgesia at the latent stage of labor on epidural analgesia, labor outcome and neonatal score so as to provide the reference to the clinical labor analgesia. METHODS: According to the random number table, 104 primipara of vaginal delivery were divided into three groups, named an EA group (37 cases), a sham-EA group (36 cases) and an epidural block group (31 cases). In the EA group, when the cervix opened up by 1 cm, Han's acupoint nerve stimulation apparatus was attached to bilateral Hegu (LI4) and bilateral Sanyinjiao (SP6) to achieve EA analgesia till the active stage (the cervix up 3 cm). In the sham-EA group, the procedure was same as the EA group, but with the sham-stimulation. In the epidural block, EA was not used in intervention. When the cervix opened up 3 cm, the epidural block and the patient-controlled epidural analgesia were all adopted in each group. The score of visual analogue scale (VAS) and the dosage of Sufentanil and Ropivacaine in patient-controlled analgesia pump at the different time points were compared among the groups. Respectively, in 1 h of EA stimulation (T1), 2 h of EA stimulation (T2), at the moment of epidural block (T3) and the complete open of the cervix (T6), the venous blood sample was collected to determine the concentration of beta-endorphin (beta-EP), and the use time of oxytocin, the bleeding amount and the state of newborn were recorded. RESULTS: There was no statistical difference in immediate of EA stimulation (T0) among the groups in VAS score (P>0.05). But, in T1 to T6, VAS score in the EA group was reduced obviously as compared with the sham-EA group and the epidural block group separately (P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in the use time of oxytocin among the three groups (P>0.05). In the sham-EA group and the epidural block group, bleeding amount during labor and in 24 h after labor was all higher than that of the EA group (P<0.05). In each group, the concentration of beta-EP in T3 and T6 was increased obviously as compared with that in T1 and T2 respectively (P<0.05). In the EA group, the concentration of beta-EP in T1 to T3 and in T6 was higher than that in sham-EA group and the epidural block group respectively (P<0.05). The dosage of Ropivacaine and Sufentanil in the EA group was less than that in either the sham-EA group or the epidural block group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in amniotic fluid turbidity rate and Apgar score among the three groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture analgesia at the latent stage of labor effectively relieves labor pain of primipara, increases the concentration of beta-EP, enhances the effect of epidural block analgesia, reduces labor bleeding and has no side effect on newborn. The combination of electroacupuncture analgesia and the epidural anesthesia in the latent stage is applicable in the whole process of labor.

BACKGROUND: Metabolic syndrome is diagnosed by a cluster of risk factors that associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). We aimed to explore the impact of and interactions between individual metabolic syndrome components on the risk of CHD in Xinjiang. METHODS: The baseline population included 7635 participants. The degree to which the components increase the risk of CHD and the multiplicative interactions between them were assessed using hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Additive interactions were appraised by the relative excess risk due to interaction, synergy index (SI), and attributable proportion of interaction. RESULTS: A total of 304 CHD patients were enrolled from rural residents of Xinjiang. Elevated blood pressure (HR 1.81; 95% CI 1.35-2.44) and elevated fasting blood glucose (FBG) (HR 1.82; 95% CI 1.38-2.38) increased the risk of CHD after adjustment for confounding factors. We found a positive additive interaction (SI 1.14; 95% CI 0.51-2.51) between elevated blood pressure and elevated FBG, but none were significant. As the number of components increased, the risk of CHD increased. The combinations of [high triglycerides (TG) + low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) + elevated FBG + large waistline] (HR 4.26; 95% CI 1.43-12.73) and [elevated blood pressure + elevated FBG + low HDL-C + large waistline] (HR 1.82; 95% CI 1.38-2.38) increased the risk of CHD. CONCLUSIONS: We provide evidence that elevated blood pressure and elevated FBG are independent risk factors for CHD and it might be necessary to maintain the normal waistline for preventing CHD.

Liquidity backstops can mitigate runs. In this paper we develop a dynamic model of debt runs based on He and Xiong (2012) to identify, both conceptually and quantitatively, the value of a liquidity backstop for its run-mitigating role. For the purpose of identification, we focus on the municipal bond markets for variable rate demand obligations and auction rate securities. Based on the run episodes in these markets during the financial crisis of 2007-09 and the calibrated model, we find that the value of a liquidity backstop is about 14.5 basis points per annum. Our findings have important policy implications regarding the effectiveness of liquidity backstops in ameliorating problems of financial instability.

This study fabricated a dual-emission probe consisting of monolayer MoS2 quantum dots (M - MoS2 QDs) and L-cystine-linked boron-dipyrromethene (L-Cys-BODIPY) molecules for ratiometric sensing of biothiols, thiol product-related enzyme reactions, and ratiometric imaging of glutathione (GSH)-related reactions in HeLa cells. The formation of L-Cys-BODIPY-adsorbed M - MoS2 QDs (named as BODIPY-M-MoS2 QDs) was demonstrated by comparing them with M - MoS2 QDs using transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The BODIPY-M-MoS2 QDs exhibited dual-emission bands, excellent biocompatibility, and good resistance to photobleaching. It was found that the adsorbed L-Cys-BODIPY molecules rarely quenched the fluorescence of M - MoS2 QDs, and meanwhile, they were self-quenched by π-π stacking between each BODIPY backbones. The presence of biothiols induced the reduction of weakly fluorescent L-Cys-BODIPY to strongly fluorescent of L-cysteine-conjugated BODIPY. Since having a much higher molar absorption coefficient than L-Cys-BODIPY, the liberated L-cysteine-conjugated BODIPY behaved as an effective inner filter to absorb the excitation light and subsequently quenched the fluorescence of M - MoS2 QDs. The appearance of L-cysteine-conjugated BODIPY could barely affected to the fluorescence lifetime of M - MoS2 QDs, confirming the inner filter effect of L-cysteine-conjugated BODIPY onto the fluorescence of M - MoS2 QDs. The present probe not only provided a linear ratiometric response to 1-10 mM GSH, 1-10 µM cysteine, and 1-10 µM of homocysteine but also remarkably showed the ratiometric detection of thiol products from the reactions of 1-900 units L-1 S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH) hydrolase and SAH as well as 1-850 units L-1 GSH reductase and disulfide GSH. Additionally, the present probe was well-suited for ratiometric imaging of intracellular GSH levels in non-treated and drug-treated HeLa cells.

The aim is to investigate the correlation between computed tomography (CT) features and insulin resistance levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with primary pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). Nearly, 268 untreated PTB patients complicated with T2DM were divided into two groups according to the optimal cutoff value of HOMA-IR score for the Chinese population: HOMA-IR ≤ 2.69 (Group I: 74 patients), >2.69 (Group II: 194 patients). The basic characteristics and changes of CT manifestations were analyzed. In the two groups, the detection rate of large segmented leafy shadow was 39.2% and 78.9%; the air bronchogram sign detection rate was 40.5% and 80.9%; the discovery rate of mouth-eaten cavity was 33.8% and 73.7%; the thin-walled cavity detection rate was 2.7% and 16.0%; the rate of multiple cavities was 35.1% and 69.6%; and bronchial tuberculosis was found in 4.1% and 35.6%, respectively. The detection rates of lesions in Group II were significantly higher than in Group I (p < .05). HOMA-IR was found independently associated with large segmented leafy shadow, air bronchial sign, thin-walled cavity, and bronchial tuberculosis. The level of insulin resistance can effectively reflect the severity of PTB patients with T2DM. CT scan can directly provide image information in clinics. These two examinations can guide clinicians to accurately formulate subsequent treatment plans.

Random lasing is a lasing phenomenon realized in random media, and it has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years. An essential requirement for strong random lasing is to achieve strong and recurrent scattering among grain boundaries of a disordered structure. Herein, we report a random laser (RL) based on individual polycrystalline GaTe microflakes (MFs) with a lasing threshold of 4.15 kW cm-2, about 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than that of the reported single GaN microwire random laser. The strongly enhanced light scattering and trapping benefit from the reduced grain size in the polycrystalline GaTe MF, resulting in a ultralow threshold. We also investigate the dependence of spatially localized cavities' dimension on the pumping intensity profile and temperature. The findings provide a feasible route to realize RL with a low threshold and small size, opening up a new avenue in fulfilling many potential optoelectronic applications of RL.

Non-invasive transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (ta-VNS) is established on the basis of auricular acupuncture and the principle of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS). The results of the comparative study of 4 indications of VNS show that ta-VNS achieves almost the equivalent effect as VNS. Moreover, the ta-VNS is advantageous at safety, economy and portability. Regarding the clinical prevention and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it is still controversial for the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy including auricular acupuncture. Moreover, it is the difficulty for the principle of acupoint selection and the treatment mechanism of this therapy to be in line with modern medicine. As neuroendocrine disease, PCOS and the ovary, its target organ are all associated with the vagus nerve. It is a new idea to introduce the ta-VNS in treatment of PCOS by regulating the reproductive and endocrinal disturbance of PCOS in terms of vagus nerve and improving the acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, such as the auricular acupuncture. In the paper, the potential mechanism of the ta-VNS in treatment of PCOS is presented: 1)the ta-VNS treats PCOS by improving insulin resistance; 2)the ta-VNS relieves PCOS-induced psychological disorders through the treatment of depression; 3)the ta-VNS is applicable in treatment of PCOS complications, such as hypertension and diabetes.

Although its benefits have been demonstrated, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is underutilized in gastric cancer management, because of the lack of biomarkers for patient selection and a limited understanding of resistance mechanisms. Here, we performed whole-genome, whole-exome, and RNA sequencing on 84 clinical samples (including matched pre- and posttreatment tumors) from 35 patients whose responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy were rigorously defined. We observed increased microsatellite instability and mutation burden in nonresponse tumors. Through comparisons of response versus nonresponse tumors and pre- versus posttreatment samples, we found that C10orf71 mutations were associated with treatment resistance, which was supported by drug response data and potentially through inhibition of cell cycle, and that MYC amplification correlated with treatment sensitivity, whereas MDM2 amplification showed the opposite pattern. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy also reshapes tumor-immune signaling and microenvironment. Our study provides a critical basis for developing precision neoadjuvant regimens.

Penthorum chinense Pursh is a dietary medicinal plant widely distributed in Asia-Pacific countries. The present study aims to profile the chemical constituents of P. chinense and investigate its prebiotic role in modulating gut microbiota. Fifty polyphenolic compounds were rapidly identified using UPLC-HR-MS. Total flavonoid and phenolic contents of P. chinense were 46.6% and 61.3% (w/w), respectively. Thirteen individual polyphenols were quantified, which accounted for 33.1% (w/w). P. chinense induced structural arrangement of microbial community in mice, showing increased microbiota diversity, elevated Bacteroidetes/Firmicutes ratio and enriched gut health-promoting bacteria. After a one-week drug-free wash, most of these changes were recovered, but the abundance of some beneficial bacteria was further increased. The altered composition of gut microbiota enriched several metabolic pathways. Moreover, P. chinense increased antioxidant capacity in vivo. The results suggest that polyphenol-enriched P. chinense modulates gut microbiota and enhances antioxidant capacity in mice toward a beneficial environment for host health.

Electrochemical conversion of N2 to NH3 under ambient conditions is a promising and environmentally friendly route compared with the CO2-emitting and energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process. Nevertheless, due to ultrahigh stability of N2, it is urgent to explore efficient catalysts to weaken and activate the N≡N bond. Here, we report the Mo-doped iron phosphide (Mo-FeP) nanosphere as a valid transition-metal-based catalyst for electrochemical N2-to-NH3 fixation under ambient conditions. This catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic performance with a NH4+ yield rate (13.1 µg h-1 mg-1) and Faradaic efficiency (7.49%) at -0.3 and -0.2 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), respectively. However, the FeP catalyst without doped Mo species displays weak catalytic performance. We found that the better catalytic performance of Mo-FeP might be due to the doping of Mo species, which is favorable for the polarization of adsorbed N2 molecules, making the N≡N bond more viable to dissociate.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of percutaneous bridging plate and retrograde suprapubic intramedullary screw in the treatment of anterior ring fracture of pelvis. METHODS: From January 2013 to June 2017, 40 patients with unstable pelvic fractures involving anterior ring were analyzed retrospectively. According to the fixation method, they were divided into two groups, there were 20 patients in percutaneous bridging plate group (plate group) including 9 males and 11 females; according to tile classification, fractures were classified as type B1 in 1 case, type B2 in 14, type B3 in 2, type C1 in 2 and type C2 in 1. There were 20 cases in retrograde suprapubic intramedullary screw group (screw group) including 10 males and 10 females; according to tile classification, there were 1 case of type B1, 12 cases of type B2, 3 cases of type B3, 3 cases of type C1 and 1 case of type C2. The incision length, operation time, times of fluoroscopy, intraoperative bleeding volume, postoperative Matta score, postoperative complications and the last follow-up Majeed function score of the two groups were compared and analyzed. RESULTS: Both groups were followed up for 8 to 15 (12.25±2.24) months in the plate group and 6 to 18 (12.4±2.6) months in the screw group, there was no significant difference between the two groups. The incision length of screw group was (3.85±0.75) cm shorter than that of steel plate group (7.05±1.39) cm; the operation time of screw group was (27.70±5.36) min longer than that of steel plate group (15.10±2.07) min; the fluoroscopy times of screw group was (6.00±1.83) more than that of steel plate group (3.75±1.33) . The bleeding volume was (22.50±10.82) ml in of screw group, (25.00±9.93) ml in steel plate group, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05) . There was no significant difference in Matta evaluation and Majeed functional score in the last follow-up. One case of superficial skin infection occurred in screw group, one case of superficial skin infection and one case of transient paralysis of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve occurred in steel plate group. CONCLUSION: Percutaneous bridging plate and retrograde suprapubic intramedullary screw fixation of pelvic anterior ring fracture have the same effect. The operation time of the percutaneous plate group was shorter, the times of intraoperative fluoroscopy was less, and the learning curve was shorter, but the variation of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve should be noted during the operation.
