Currently, many catalysts are inconvenient to separate from water, and the solvents used in the preparation process are not environmentally friendly, resulting in low recovery efficiency and secondary pollution. In this study, the magnetic and porous regenerated cellulose/carbon nanotubes/Fe3O4 nanoparticles (RC/CNTs/Fe3O4 NPs) composites were synthesized for activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS) in a green alkaline-urea system. The RC/CNTs/Fe3O4 NPs-PDS system achieved 100% removal of bisphenol A compared with CNTs (~64.6%), RC (~0%) or Fe3O4 NPs (~0%), which was closely related to the introduction of defects and functional groups, nitrogen doping and conductive networks. Interestingly, the strong interaction between CNTs and the sheath-like protective layer formed by urea on the cellulose surface promotes the introduction of nitrogen into the composites at the preparation temperature of 70 °C. Moreover, the mechanism of the system was found to be a typical non-radical pathway. Fortunately, there is no leaching of iron ions in the system, and the effects of the actual waterbody, initial pH, and different anions are negligible. The recycling and separation experiments revealed the practicality and superiority of the composite. This work provides a feasible and sustainable strategy for the application of natural cellulose-supported catalysts.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated CRISPR-Cas9 editing holds promise to treat many diseases. The immune response to bacterial-derived Cas9 has been speculated as a hurdle for AAV-CRISPR therapy. However, immunological consequences of AAV-mediated Cas9 expression have thus far not been thoroughly investigated in large mammals. We evaluate Cas9-specific immune responses in canine models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) following intramuscular and intravenous AAV-CRISPR therapy. Treatment results initially in robust dystrophin restoration in affected dogs but also induces muscle inflammation, and Cas9-specific humoral and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) responses that are not prevented by the muscle-specific promoter and transient prednisolone immune suppression. In normal dogs, AAV-mediated Cas9 expression induces similar, though milder, immune responses. In contrast, other therapeutic (micro-dystrophin and SERCA2a) and reporter (alkaline phosphatase, AP) vectors result in persistent expression without inducing muscle inflammation. Our results suggest Cas9 immunity may represent a critical barrier for AAV-CRISPR therapy in large mammals.

In this study, the effects of ferric ion (Fe3+) on the degradation of atrazine (ATZ) in Bi2MoO6/peroxymonosulfate (PMS) system under visible light irradiation was investigated. With the addition of Fe3+, ATZ in the visible light/Bi2MoO6/PMS system degraded rapidly after 20 min treatment (removal rate > 99%). The enhancement of ATZ removal can be attributed to the role of Fe3+. As an electron transfer mediator, Fe3+ not only inhibits the recombination of photo-charges and prolongs the life of photogenerated carriers, but also promotes the activation of PMS by accelerating the electron transfer from Bi2MoO6 to PMS. The generation of •OH and SO4•- in the system was determined via electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technology and quenching experiments. Furthermore, the characterization of Bi2MoO6 before and after reaction, influence of the reaction parameters (i.e., catalyst and PMS dosages, Fe3+ and ATZ concentration, initial pH), influence of inorganic anions and humic acid, and the recyclability of catalyst in the vis/Bi2MoO6/PMS/Fe3+ system was also investigated. Additionally, the existence of Fe3+ also exhibits a wide selectivity for the degradation of different pollutants and high treatment efficiency. In general, the vis/Bi2MoO6/PMS/Fe3+ system demonstrated the potential as an efficient, economical, and environment-friendly water treatment process.

Background: Regional lymph node status is an independent influencing factor for the prognosis of acral malignant melanoma, and the accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is directly related to the judgment of regional lymph node status. This study aimed to explore the application value of indocyanine green (ICG) surgical fluorescence imaging system in the SLNB of acral malignant melanoma. Methods: A total of 34 patients with acral malignant melanoma were admitted to the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital from January 2020 to March 2020. Among these patients, 22 required SLNB. ICG and methylene blue (MB) were combined to intraoperatively trace the sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs). The total number of SLNs detected during the operation was counted. We compared the number, detection rate, as well as the detection rate and false negative rate of positive SLNs of SLNs detected by ICG, MB, and ICG combined with MB. Results: A total of 56 SLNs were detected in the 22 patients, among which 55 were detected by ICG (98%), 41 were detected by MB (71%), and 56 (100%) were detected by ICG combined with MB, and the average number of SLNs were 2.5, 1.64, and 2.55, respectively. A total of nine SLNs were detected, of which nine were detected by ICG (100%), seven by MB (78%), and nine by ICG combined with MB (100%). Patients with negative SLNs had no recurrence at the 6-month follow-up. Conclusions: Compared with MB, the ICG fluorescent imaging system can improve the detection rate of SLNs in patients with acral malignant melanoma. Also, ICG combined with MB was superior to ICG alone.

PURPOSE: The excision of plantar malignant melanoma frequently leads to wide skin defects on the plantar surface. This study aimed to investigate the advantages and feasibility of dermal regenerative template reconstructing plantar blemishes caused by malignant melanoma. METHODS: 28 patients identified with plantar malignant melanoma were included in this retrospective article. Eighteen patients received immediate skin grafts after wide excision skin graft (SG) group), whereas the remaining 10 patients were treated with dermal regenerative template (DRT) (Lando ®, Shenzhen TsingCare Medical Co. Ltd) 14 days before skin grafts (DRT group) and the postoperative survival rate in the two groups was analyzed. During the 6-month follow-up, we compared the scar index, plantar pain, and recurrent skin graft ulcer incidence on the skin grafts area. RESULTS: Postoperative survival rate in the DRT group (91.75% ± 7.64%) was higher than in the SG group (80.51% ± 7.17%). The DRT group showed less scar formation on Vancouver scar scale (VSS index): 3.40 ± 1.07 than the SG group (VSS index: 6.33 ± 0.68). The dermal regenerative template alleviated plantar pain and decreased the incidence of ulcer on the skin grafts area. CONCLUSIONS: The dermal regenerative template not only improves the survival rate of skin grafts but also alleviates scar condition, plantar pain and recurrent skin graft ulcer. This study provides a new reconstructive strategy in plantar skin defects after the excision of malignant melanoma.

Among all homogeneous catalysts, cobalt ions show the highest catalytic performance for the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS). Herein, we report a Co2+/PMS/H3BO3 system that can effectively generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) with ultra-low Co2+ dosage (5 µg/L). Co2+/PMS/H3BO3 system showed ultrafast reactivity and wide applicability for various pollutants. Sulfamethoxazole (SMX, 2 mg/L) could be completely removed within 5 min, and the corresponding kobs reached up to 1.1239 min-1. The introduction of H3BO3 significantly promoted the generation of ROS. The turnover frequency (TOF) calculated through dividing kobs by the cobalt ions concentration is as high as 224.78 min-1, which is much higher than most of the current research. Through a series of theoretical and experimental analyses, the complex of H2BO3--MS (HSO5B(OH)3-) was inferred to be the key substance that led to the excellent performance of the system. This work provides new insights into the Co2+/PMS system in the presence of borate buffer.

Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a fatal disease with a high mortality rate that can be easily misdiagnosed. The aim of this study was to improve the diagnostic rate of NF and overall survival. We conducted a single-center, retrospective, noncontrolled study involving 36 patients who were admitted to our department between December 2017 and October 2019, and summarized the diagnostic key points and timing of surgical treatment. All patients were diagnosed at our department and underwent multiple courses of treatment. The records included information regarding underlying diseases, bacterial culture results, laboratory risk indicator for necrotizing fasciitis (LRINEC) score, number of procedures, and type of antibiotics. All 36 cases of NF were cured and showed good patient condition on follow-up; the mean number of surgeries was three, and the mean duration of hospitalization was 37 days (range, 21-83 days). The LRINEC scores of 16 patients were ≥8 points. Seventeen patients with underlying diabetic disease had higher inflammatory index scores than those without diabetes. The LRINEC scores of patients with (n = 17) and without (n = 19) DM were 7.40 ± 2.99 and 3.80 ± 2.39, respectively (P < .01). Cases of NF that were treated with early incision and surgical abscess drainage required fewer surgeries and a shorter length of hospitalization. Thus, surgeons should be more aware of NF and aim to make an early and accurate diagnosis using various approaches. Complete surgical debridement plays an essential role in NF treatment, and diabetes mellitus is a significant adverse factor that exacerbates the severity of NF. Negative-pressure techniques are useful in cases involving nonanaerobic infections and cause minimal complications.

Introduction: Schizophrenia is a mental disease with a profound impact on human health. Patients with schizophrenia have poor oral hygiene, increasing their risk of systemic diseases, such as respiratory infections, and declining their quality of life. Therefore, this study aims to assess the oral health status of inpatients with schizophrenia, analyze its related factors, and thus provide scientific evidence for further exploration of corresponding control strategies. Methods: A total of 425 inpatients older than 50 years with a diagnosis of schizophrenia from two psychiatric hospitals (mean age 58.49 ± 5.72 years) were enrolled. The demographic data of the patients were checked on admission. Two independent dentists examined caries, missing teeth, and fillings. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Global Deterioration Scale were performed as cognitive tests. Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale and Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status rating scale were used to determine their mental status. Results: The average decayed, missing, and filled teeth index was 12.99 ± 8.86. Linear regression analysis showed that the decayed, missing, and filled teeth index had a significantly positive relationship with age (p < 0.001) and smoking (p < 0.001) and a negative relationship with MMSE (p = 0.029). The missing teeth index had a positive relationship with age (p < 0.001), smoking (p < 0.001), and Global Deterioration Scale (p = 0.014) and a negative relationship with MMSE (p = 0.004). Conclusion: The oral health of elderly patients with schizophrenia is poor, which may be related to the cognitive level of patients and affect their quality of life. The focus should be provided to the oral care of patients with schizophrenia, and investment in their specialized oral treatment should be increased.

Aged dystrophin-null canines are excellent models to study experimental therapies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a lethal muscle disease caused by dystrophin deficiency. To establish the baseline, we studied the extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) muscle in 15 terminal age (3-year-old) male affected and 15 age/sex-matched normal dogs. Affected dogs showed histological and anatomical hallmarks of dystrophy, including muscle inflammation and fibrosis, myofiber size variation, centralized myonuclei, and a significant reduction of the muscle weight, muscle-to-body weight ratio, and muscle cross-sectional area. To rigorously characterize the contractile properties of the ECU muscle, we developed a novel in situ assay. Twitch and tetanic force, contraction and relaxation rate, and resistance to eccentric contraction-induced force loss were significantly decreased in affected dogs. Intriguingly, the time-to-peak tension and half-relaxation time were significantly shortened in affected dogs. Contractile kinetics predicted an unforeseen slow-to-fast myofiber type switch which we confirmed at the protein and transcript level. Our study established a foundation to study long-term and late-stage therapeutic interventions in dystrophic canines. The unexpected myofiber type switch highlights the complexity of muscle remodeling in dystrophic large mammals.

Rhododendron kuomeianum Y.H. Chang, J. Nielsen & Y.P. Ma, a new species of Rhododendron (Ericaceae) within subsect. Maddenia in sect. Rhododendron from Yiliang County, NE Yunnan, China, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to R. valentinianum, but it can be easily distinguished by its sparse scales on the abaxial surface of the leaf blade, fewer flowers per inflorescence and white corolla with pale red margins. There are also differences in the widths of calyx lobes, leaf blade shape and indumentum characteristics of the petiole between the new species and Rhododendron linearilobum. We confirmed that R. kuomeianum is a new species closely related to R. valentinianum and R. changii with phylogenomic studies of 10 species within this subsection based on restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) data. These phylogenomic analyses also clarified additional taxonomic problems in this subsection previously raised by morphological analysis. Our findings make a strong case for using next-generation sequencing to explore phylogenetic relationships and identify new species, especially in plants groups with complicated taxonomic problems.

Pseudocerastium is a monotypic genus in Caryophyllaceae endemic to China. The genus has been widely accepted since it was described in 1998, however its phylogenetic position within Caryophyllaceae has never been studied. In the present study, the whole plastid genome and nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences of Pseudocerastium stellarioides was obtained through genome skimming, and the phylogenetic position of the species was studied for the first time. Plastid phylogenomic analysis of Caryophyllaceae revealed that Pseudocerastium is clustered within the tribe Alsineae with strong support. Phylogenetic analyses based on an enlarged taxon sampling of Alsineae using five DNA regions (matK, rbcL, rps16 intron, trnL-F and ITS) revealed that P. stellarioides was nested deeply within Cerastium with strong support. Analyses of morphological character evolution suggest that the ancestral states in Alsineae include three styles and a six-lobed capsule at the apex, while both Cerastium and Pseudocerastium have five styles and ten lobes at the apex of the capsule, further supporting their close relationship. The species Pseudocerastium stellarioides is similar to Cerastium wilsonii in morphology, but differs in having villous indumentum on the lower part of the filaments and compressed globose seeds. Therefore, based on the present molecular and morphological evidence, the generic name Pseudocerastium is reduced here as a new synonym of Cerastium and the species P. stellarioides is transferred to Cerastium as C. jiuhuashanense.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease worldwide. Autophagy was reported to be related to the pathogenesis of DN. This research investigated the function of the Nucleoporin 160 (Nup160) gene in regulating autophagy in DN. A mouse model of DN was established through an intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). Normal rat kidney tubular epithelial cells (NRK-52E) were treated with high glucose to induce DN in vitro. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), western blot, immunofluorescence assays were conducted to measure the expression of NUP160, autophagy-associated proteins, and inflammatory cytokines in vitro and in vivo. Pathological changes of kidney and liver tissues were analyzed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Masson and periodic acid-silver (PAS) staining. The body weight, blood glucose, renal and lipid profiles of DN mice were examined. In this study, DN mice showed serious pathological injury. NUP160 expression was upregulated, autophagy was inhibited, and inflammatory response was increased in DN mice. Depletion of NUP160 restored autophagy and inhibited inflammation and fibrosis in high glucose (HG)-treated NRK-52E cells and STZ-induced DN mice by downregulating the expression of p62 and Collagen IV (Col-Ⅳ), increasing the ratio of LC3II/LC3I, and inactivating nuclear factor (NF)-κB signaling. Moreover, NUP160 knockdown could ameliorate pathological damage and glucose tolerance in DN mice. Overall, this study is the first to demonstrate the key role of NUP160 silencing in promoting autophagy against diabetic injury in DN.

Leptopus malipoensis, a new species of Phyllanthaceae from Southeast Yunnan Province, China, is described. The phylogenetic position of the new species within the genus Leptopus was analyzed based on nuclear ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacer (nrITS) and plastid matK sequence data. The results show that L. malipoensis is highly supported to be the sister of L. fangdingianus (P. T. Li) Voronts. & Petra Hoff., a species endemic to western Guangxi Province, China. Morphologically, the new species can be distinguished from all known congeneric taxa by its long and slim branches usually pendulous or procumbent, some of its leaf laminas up to 15 cm long and 7 cm wide. It further differs from its sister species by its hirsute stems, leaves and pedicel of female flowers, longer pedicel of male flowers, 3-locular ovary and three styles. A key to all 10 accepted Leptopus species is provided.

Iron is an essential trace mineral element in almost all living cells and organisms. However, cellular iron metabolism pathways are disturbed in most cancer cell types. Cancer cells have a high demand of iron. To maintain rapid growth and proliferation, cancer cells absorb large amounts of iron by altering expression of iron metabolism related proteins. However, iron can catalyze the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) through Fenton reaction. Nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2) is an important player in the resistance to oxidative damage by inducing the transcription of antioxidant genes. Aberrant activation of Nrf2 is observed in most cancer cell types. It has been revealed that the over-activation of Nrf2 promotes cell proliferation, suppresses cell apoptosis, enhances the self-renewal capability of cancer stem cells, and even increases the chemoresistance and radioresistance of cancer cells. Recently, several genes involving cellular iron homeostasis are identified under the control of Nrf2. Since cancer cells require amounts of iron and Nrf2 plays pivotal roles in oxidative defense and iron metabolism, it is highly probable that Nrf2 is a potential modulator orchestrating iron homeostasis and redox balance in cancer cells. In this hypothesis, we summarize the recent findings of the role of iron and Nrf2 in cancer cells and demonstrate how Nrf2 balances the oxidative stress induced by iron through regulating antioxidant enzymes and iron metabolism. This hypothesis provides new insights into the role of Nrf2 in cancer progression. Since ferroptosis is dependent on lipid peroxide and iron accumulation, Nrf2 inhibition may dramatically increase sensitivity to ferroptosis. The combination of Nrf2 inhibitors with ferroptosis inducers may exert greater efficacy on cancer therapy.

Schizophrenia is currently thought as a disorder with dysfunctional communication within and between sensory and cognitive processes. It has been hypothesized that these deficits mediate heterogeneous and comprehensive schizophrenia symptomatology. In this study, we investigated as to how the abnormal dynamic functional architecture of sensory and cognitive networks may contribute to these symptoms in schizophrenia. We calculated a sliding-window-based dynamic functional connectivity strength (FCS) and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) maps. Then, using group-independent component analysis, we characterized spatial organization of dynamic functional network (sDFN) across various time windows. The spatial architectures of FCS/ALFF-sDFN were similar with traditional resting-state functional networks and cannot be accounted by length of the sliding window. Moreover, schizophrenic subjects demonstrated reduced dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) within sensory and perceptual sDFNs, as well as decreased connectivity between these sDFNs and high-order frontal sDFNs. The severity of patients' positive and total symptoms was related to these abnormal dFCs. Our findings revealed that the sDFN during rest might form the intrinsic functional architecture and functional changes associated with psychotic symptom deficit. Our results support the hypothesis that the dynamic functional network may influence the aberrant sensory and cognitive function in schizophrenia, further highlighting that targeting perceptual deficits could extend our understanding of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.

The main therapeutic options for extensive scarring (e.g., > 20% of the total body surface area, or TBSA) after burns and trauma have focused on conservative treatments, such as compression, moisturization, and topical agent application. However, these treatments may not achieve optimal effects due to the large size and complexity of the scars. UltraPulse fractional CO2 laser treatment is a novel approach that is currently a subject of intense interest; this treatment is most widely used to improve texture, pliability, and pigmentation in all types of scars. However, no studies on the independent use of UltraPulse fractional CO2 laser treatment for extensive scars have been reported. This retrospective study evaluated a total of 21 patients, whose scars covered 20 to 65% TBSA. Scar thickness was measured by ultrasonography before treatment. Personalized treatment modalities and parameters were set according to the scar type and thickness. Scar formation and treatment effects were evaluated by photography, the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS), and patients' judgment of effectiveness. Where the scars covered joints, joint function was assessed by measuring the maximum range of motion (ROM). With laser therapy, scars became flatter and lighter; furthermore, pruritus, pain, and discomfort decreased significantly. POSAS scores significantly decreased after laser therapy, including the item scores for pain and pruritus. There were no instances of joint contracture, ROM reduction, apparent functional impairment, serious adverse events, or comorbidities. This study demonstrates the safety and efficiency of UltraPulse fractional CO2 laser treatment for extensive scarring.

BACKGROUND: Melanoma is an extremely aggressive type of skin cancer and experiencing a expeditiously rising mortality in a current year. Exploring new potential prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets of melanoma are urgently needed. The ambition of this research was to identify genetic markers and assess prognostic performance of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) regulators in melanoma. METHODS: Gene expression data and corresponding clinical informations of melanoma patients as well as sequence data of normal controls are collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis was carried out to detect the RNA expression of IGF2BP3 in A375 cell line, melanoma tissues, and normal tissues. Western blot, cell proliferation, and migration assays were performed to assess the ability of IGF2BP3 in A375 cell line. RESULTS: Differently expressed m6A regulators between tumor samples and normal samples were analyzed. A three-gene prognostic signature including IGF2BP3, RBM15B, and METTL16 was constructed, and the risk score of this signature was identified to be an independent prognostic indicator for melanoma. In addition, IGF2BP3 was verified to promote melanoma cell proliferation and migration in vitro and associate with lymph node metastasis in clinical samples. Moreover, risk score and the expression of IGF2BP3 were positively associated with the infiltrating immune cells and these hub genes made excellent potential drug targets in melanoma. CONCLUSION: We identified the genetic changes in m6A regulatory genes and constructed a three-gene risk signature with distinct prognostic value in melanoma. This research provided new insights into the epigenetic understanding of m6A regulators and novel therapeutic strategies in melanoma.

Recently, several studies have been conscious of the promotion effect of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a self-decay product of ferrate (Fe(VI)), on Fe(VI) to oxidize contaminations, but the pivotal activation mechanism has not been thoroughly evaluated. This work aims to compare and reveal the promoting mechanism of H2O2 in Fe(VI) and Fe(VI)-H2O2 processes, and to illustrate the practical use potential of Fe(VI)-H2O2 system. Many lines of evidence verified the involvement of •OH and O2•- in pollutant degradation were excluded in Fe(VI) and Fe(VI)-H2O2 systems, meaning that high dosage of H2O2 cannot trigger an activation pathway different from in-situ H2O2. The better oxidation performance of the Fe(VI)-H2O2 system than Fe(VI) alone was ascribed to the catalytic role of in-situ and ex-situ H2O2, which can directly and/ or indirectly facilitate the formation of Fe(IV) and Fe(V). Considering the structural similarity of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and peroxydisulfate (PDS) with H2O2 as well as their universality in water pollutant remediation, the oxidation properties and reactive oxidants of Fe(VI)-PMS and Fe(VI)-PDS processes were also examined. Besides, the Fe(VI)-H2O2 system suffered from less restriction by inorganic ions and natural organic matter, and exhibited satisfactory pollutant removal effects in real water. Overall, this work provides a further and comprehensive cognition about the role of H2O2 in Fe(VI) and Fe(VI)-H2O2 systems.

RESUMO

Second-generation bromodomain and extra terminal (BET) inhibitors, which selectively target one of the two bromodomains in the BET proteins, have begun to emerge in the literature. These inhibitors aim to help determine the roles and functions of each domain and assess whether they can demonstrate an improved safety profile in clinical settings compared to pan-BET inhibitors. Herein, we describe the discovery of a novel BET BD2-selective chemotype using a structure-based drug design from a hit identified by DNA-encoded library technologies, showing a structural differentiation from key previously reported greater than 100-fold BD2-selective chemotypes GSK620, GSK046, and ABBV-744. Following a structure-based hypothesis for the selectivity and optimization of the physicochemical properties of the series, we identified 60 (GSK040), an in vitro ready and in vivo capable BET BD2-inhibitor of unprecedented selectivity (5000-fold) against BET BD1, excellent selectivity against other bromodomains, and good physicochemical properties. This novel chemical probe can be added to the toolbox used in the advancement of epigenetics research.

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is an important complex that presents antigen to T cells. The second exon of swine MHC (SLA) class II genes has antigen binding sites that bind with extracellular antigen. Populations with high MHC gene diversity result in low gut microbiota, and individuals with MHC gene heterozygote have lower gut microbiota diversity than that of homozygote. The pig is an animal with organs physiologically and anatomically similar to humans than any other mammal, and the pig is also suitably developed as a laboratory animal to establish the animal models of human disease. However, the relationship between SLA genetic diversity and the gut microbes of the pig is ambiguous. We studied the characterization of SLA class II genes and calculated the genetic diversity, and then we selected experimental animal groups divided by different SLA genotypes to investigate the gut microbiota composition by sequencing V3 to V4 hypervariable regions of bacterial 16 s rRNA from fecal samples. Our results showed that Guizhou minipigs had a low SLA genetic diversity, which may be due to the small founder population. The Guizhou minipig population deviated from neutral selection and balancing selection, which shows that Guizhou minipigs experience a strong artificial selection in recent years. We observed that the sex differences influenced gut microbiota much more deeply than that of genetics. Our results also showed that the individual with heterozygote of genes at the SLA class II region had much higher abundant gut microbiota than that of the homozygote.
