Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) transferred between cells have been implicated in modulating the host immune response in microbial infections. In this study, we isolated exosomes from Treponema pallidum (T. pallidum)-stimulated macrophages and detected differential exosomal miRNA expression using both microarrays, and RT-qPCR. A total of 65 differentially expressed miRNAs (35 upregulated and 30 downregulated) were identified. Of all identified miRNAs, miR-146a-5p was one of the most significantly changed miRNAs with high expression in exosomes from T. pallidum-stimulated macrophages. Furthermore, we isolated plasma exosomes from early syphilis patients and healthy controls, and confirmed miR-146a-5p upregulation in the former group. We also show that exosomal miR-146a-5p is efficiently transported into endothelial cells, reducing monocyte transendothelial migration and endothelial permeability by targeting junctional adhesion molecule C (JAM-C). Luciferase reporter assays confirmed binding of exosomal miR-146a-5p to the 3'untranslated region (3'UTR) of JAM-C. We then demonstrated that also exosomes derived from macrophages stimulated by T. pallidum expressed high levels of miR-146a-5p which could be delivered to endothelial cells, and decreased monocyte transendothelial migration by targeting JAM-C. Overall, this work provides novel insights into the mechanism by which T. pallidum hampers inflammatory reactions of the host via a blockade of leukocytes transendothelial migration and endothelial permeability.

The Fe-based transition metal oxides are promising anode candidates for lithium storage considering their high specific capacity, low cost, and environmental compatibility. However, the poor electron/ion conductivity and significant volume stress limit their cycle and rate performances. Furthermore, the phenomena of capacity rise and sudden decay for α-Fe2 O3 have appeared in most reports. Here, a uniform micro/nano α-Fe2 O3 nanoaggregate conformably enclosed in an ultrathin N-doped carbon network (denoted as M/N-α-Fe2 O3 @NC) is designed. The M/N porous balls combine the merits of secondary nanoparticles to shorten the Li+ transportation pathways as well as alleviating volume expansion, and primary microballs to stabilize the electrode/electrolyte interface. Furthermore, the ultrathin carbon shell favors fast electron transfer and protects the electrode from electrolyte corrosion. Therefore, the M/N-α-Fe2 O3 @NC electrode delivers an excellent reversible capacity of 901 mA h g-1 with capacity retention up to 94.0 % after 200 cycles at 0.2 A g-1 . Notably, the capacity rise does not happen during cycling. Moreover, the lithium storage mechanism is elucidated by ex situ XRD and HRTEM experiments. It is verified that the reversible phase transformation of α↔γ occurs during the first cycle, whereas only the α-Fe2 O3 phase is reversibly transformed during subsequent cycles. This study offers a simple and scalable strategy for the practical application of high-performance Fe2 O3 electrodes.

The intrinsic charge-transfer property bears the primary responsibility for the sluggish redox kinetics of the common electrode materials, especially operated at low temperatures. Herein, we report the crafting of homogeneously confined Fe7Se8 nanoparticles with a well-defined graphitic carbon matrix that demonstrate a highly efficient charge-transfer system in a designed natural coral-like structure (cl-Fe7Se8@C). Notably, the intricate architecture as well as highly conductive peculiarity of C concurrently satisfy the demands of achieving fast ionic/electrical conductivities for both Li/Na-ion batteries in a wide temperature range. For example, when cl-Fe7Se8@C is employed as the anode material to assemble full batteries with the cathode of Na3V2(PO4)2O2F (NVPOF), decent capacities of 323.1 and 175.9 mA h g-1 can be acquired at temperatures of 25 and -25 °C, respectively. This work is significant for further developing potential anode materials for advanced energy storage and conversion under low-temperature conditions.

BACKGROUND: Few studies have valued the impact of nurses' personal strengths and positive work environment on job performance, particularly in developing countries. AIMS: To evaluate the effects of a WeChat-based "Three Good Things" (3GT) on job performance and self-efficacy of clinical nurses with burnout symptoms. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial. The intervention group (n = 33) participated in WeChat-based 3GT, while the control group (n = 40) did not. Data were collected prior to and immediately after the intervention. WeChat, a popular social software, provides several communicating and recording functions. RESULTS: The main intervention effects and interactions between time and intervention on job performance and self-efficacy were significant (each p < .05). The main time effects on self-efficacy was also significant (p < .05). The post-intervention scores for job performance and self-efficacy between the two groups were statistically different (each p < .05). The scores for job performance and self-efficacy of the intervention group were statistically different before and after the intervention (each p < .05). CONCLUSION: 3GT could significantly improve job performance and self-efficacy of nurses with burnout. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGERS: Nurse Managers are recommended to include 3GT into their management systems to improve nurses' physical and mental health and work outcomes over the long term.

Emergency triage is an important tool for prioritizing urgent or critical patients, and its effect needs to be investigated and evaluated. This observational study aimed to compare the reliability and validity of the Chinese four-level and three-district triage standard (CHT) and the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) in an adult emergency department of a general hospital in China. From 2016-01 to 2017-01, twelve nurses independently performed on-site triage of 254 patients and 1552 patients to assess the scales' reliability and validity, respectively. The interrater reliability, as assessed by the weighted k scores, was 0.686 (95% CI 0.608-0.757) for the CHT and 0.731 (95% CI 0.663-0.790) for the ATS, and the k scores between the CHT and the ATS were 0.630 (95% CI 0.594-0.669). Temperature, respiration, pulse, blood oxygen saturation, waiting time, treatment time, emergency disposition, hospitalization rate, and mortality were significantly associated with the triage levels of the CHT and ATS (p < 0.001). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve values of the CHT and ATS for predicting intensive care treatment were 0.845 (95% CI: 0.825-0.866) and 0.740 (95% CI: 0.715-0.765), respectively. The reliability and validity of the CHT and ATS were moderate, and both of them can be used to identify critical patients in emergency departments. It is necessary to further improve the triage system in terms of structure and content.

This quasi-experimental study aimed to evaluate the positive psychological intervention of recording three good things on alleviating nurses' burnout. Eighty-seven nurses with burnout were recruited. Nurses in the study group recorded three good things using communication tool WeChat for six months, no records were made in the control group. After intervention, the score of exhaustion decreased considerably for nurses in the study group. Nurses recording three good things on average twice a week returned the lowest score of exhaustion. This intervention combined with appropriate surveillance and encouragement is recommended to reduce nurses' burnout and create a positive work environment.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate common antimicrobial regimens used in eradicating Acinetobacter baumannii in Shenyang, China. METHODS: Monte Carlo simulation was conducted to estimate the probability target attainment (PTA) and cumulative fraction of response (CFR) for imipenem, cefoperazone/sulbactam (2:1), tigecycline and colistin methanesulfonate. RESULTS: For the results of PTAs, imipenem following administration of 0.5 g q6 h, 1 g q8 h, and 1 g q6 h for both 0.5 h and 2 h infusion achieved>90% PTAs when MIC was 8 µg/ml; cefoperazone/ sulbactam (2:1) following administration of 4.5 g q6 h and 6 g q6 h achieved>90% PTAs when MIC was 64µg/ml; tigecycline following administration of 50 mg q12 h and 100 mg q12 h achieved>90% PTAs when MIC was 1 µg/ml; colistin methanesulfonate with high dosages (3MU q8 h) could provide high PTA (95.13%) in patients with CLCr<60 ml/min when MIC was 2 µg/ml. As for CFR values of four antibiotics, imipenem achieved the lowest CFR values. For cefoperazone/sulbactam (2:1) and tigecycline, with simulated regimens improvement, the CFR values were both increased, and there were obviously increasing CFR values against Acinetobacter baumannii. For colistin methanesulfonate, the most aggressive dosage of 3MU q8 h could provide satisfactory CFR values (≥86.94%) against Acinetobacter baumannii in patients at various CLCr. CONCLUSION: This study suggested that measurement of MICs, individualized therapy and therapeutic drug-level monitoring should be considered together to achieve the optimal drug exposure. That will provide the best chance of achieving the highest probability of a successful clinical or microbiological response, and avoiding the induced resistance.

Owing to low ion/electron conductivity and large volume change, transitional metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) suffer from inferior cycle stability and rate capability when used as the anode of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). To overcome these disadvantages, amorphous molybdenum sulfide (MoSx ) nanospheres were prepared and coated with an ultrathin carbon layer through a simple one-pot reaction. Combining X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with theoretical calculations, MoSx was confirmed as having a special chain molecular structure with two forms of S bonding (S2- and S2 2- ), the optimal adsorption sites of Li+ were located at S2 2- . As a result, the MoSx electrode exhibits superior cycle and rate capacities compared with crystalline 2H-MoS2 (e.g., delivering a high capacity of 612.4 mAh g-1 after 500 cycles at 1 A g-1 ). This is mainly attributed to more exposed active S2 2- sites for Li storage, more Li+ transfer pathways for improved ion conductivity, and suppressed electrode structure pulverization of MoSx derived from the inherent chain-like molecular structure. Quantitative charge storage analysis further demonstrates the improved pseudocapacitive contribution of amorphous MoSx induced by fast reaction kinetics. Moreover, the morphology contrast after cycling demonstrates the dispersion of active materials is more uniform for MoSx than 2H-MoS2 , suggesting the MoSx can well accommodate the volume stress of the electrode during discharging. Through regulating the molecular structure, this work provides an effective targeted strategy to overcome the intrinsic issues of TMDs for high-performance LIBs.

Chiral phosphoric acid (CPA)-catalyzed enantioselective arylation reactions have attracted immense attention recently. However, the preferential activation model in the stereodetermining step is controversial, and hence, the origin of enantioselectivity is still far from being understood. Two stereochemical models are provided on the basis of the asymmetric arylations of iminoquinones with naphthylamines (reaction 1) or naphthols (reaction 2) catalyzed by (R/S)-TRIP to explain the high enantioselectivity and the effect of CPAs scaffolds. Unexpectedly, our calculations reveal that substrate naphthylamines or naphthols prefer enantioselective aminal formation model II or 1,4-addition model I, respectively, which is the reverse of Tan's and Xu's model. The different noncovalent and steric interactions between catalysts and substrates are responsible for the observed model preference. Moreover, the enantioselectivity arises from distortion (reaction 1) and noncovalent interactions (reaction 2) that discriminate between the diastereomeric transition states. We further investigated the effect of SPINOL-based CPAs on the enantioselectivity and found that the more rigid skeleton and a smaller binding pocket lead to lower enantioselectivity as compared with that of BINOL-based CPA. The new insights into the reaction activation model rationalize the stereoselectivity outcome of direct asymmetric arylation reactions, and our general model can be extended to related transformations.

ABSTRCT: Ischemia and reperfusion injury following severe trauma or cardiac arrest are major causes of organ damage in intensive care patients. The brain is particularly vulnerable because hypoxia rapidly damages neurons due to their heavy reliance on oxidative phosphorylation. Therapeutic hypothermia can reduce ischemia-induced brain damage, but cooling procedures are slow and technically difficult to perform in critical care settings. It has been previously reported that injection of naturally occurring adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP) can rapidly induce hypothermia in mice. We studied the underlying mechanisms and found that AMP transiently reduces the heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, and the consciousness of adult male and female C57BL/6J mice. Adding AMP to mouse or human neuronal cell cultures dose-dependently reduced the membrane potential (ΔΨm) and Ca signaling of mitochondria in these cells. AMP treatment increased intracellular AMP levels and activated AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which resulted in the inhibition of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) and of mitochondrial and cytosolic Ca signaling in resting and stimulated neurons. Pretreatment with an intraperitoneal injection of AMP almost doubled the survival time of mice under hypoxic (6% O2) or anoxic (<1% O2) conditions when compared to untreated mice. These findings suggest that AMP induces a hypometabolic state that slows mitochondrial respiration, reduces oxygen demand, and delays the processes that damage mitochondria in the brain and other organs following hypoxia and reperfusion. Further examination of these mechanisms may lead to new treatments that preserve organ function in critical care patients.

Background and Purpose- We aimed to examine the relation of baseline plasma zinc with the risk of first stroke and investigate any possible effect modifiers in hypertensive patients. Methods- The study population was drawn from the CSPPT (China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial), using a nested case-control design, including 599 first stroke cases and 599 matched controls. Results- Compared with participants with baseline plasma zinc <106.9 µg/dL (median), a significantly lower risk of first hemorrhagic stroke was found in those with plasma zinc ≥106.9 µg/dL (multivariate-adjusted odds ratio, 0.45; 95% CI, 0.21-0.94). Furthermore, the inverse plasma zinc-first hemorrhagic stroke association was significantly stronger in participants with body mass index ≥25.0 kg/m2 or plasma copper <100.1 µg/dL at baseline (Pinteraction <0.05 for both variables). However, there was no significant association between plasma zinc and first ischemic stroke (<103.3 versus ≥103.3 µg/dL [median]; multivariate-adjusted odds ratio, 1.16; 95% CI, 0.83-1.61). Conclusions- In this sample of hypertensive patients, we found a significant, inverse association between plasma zinc and first hemorrhagic stroke. Nutrient concentrations in porewater and their benthic fluxes were investigated in Daya Bay, South China, to study the accumulation and transfer of nutrients at sediment-water interface, as well as the impact of human activities on nutrients. The contributions of sediment to nutrients in water column and the potential influences on eutrophication were also discussed. Nutrients in porewater and overlying water changed in different seasons and areas, which was mainly attributed to human activities, hydrodynamic force and biogeochemical conditions. Mean concentrations of DIN (dissolved inorganic nitrogen), PO4 and SiO3 were 70 ±â€¯61, 3.1 ±â€¯4.3, 103 ±â€¯105 µmol/L, and 234 ±â€¯166, 15.6 ±â€¯4.0, 353 ±â€¯48 µmol/L in overlying water and porewater, respectively. Annual mean DIN, PO4 and SiO3 fluxes were 330 ±â€¯249, -1.3 ±â€¯16 and 549 ±â€¯301 µmol/(m2d), respectively, indicating that sediment was generally the source of DIN and SiO3, but was the sink of PO4. The mean exchange capacities were (7.8 ±â€¯5.5) × 107, (-1.2 ±â€¯34.0) × 105 and (1.2 ±â€¯0.6) × 108 mol/a for DIN, PO4 and SiO3, respectively, in Daya Bay.

In recent years, with the high incidence of lung cancer and mortality, the disease-relevant mental health problems such as depression began to attract attention. A growing number of studies have also begun to hypothesize and confirm the relationship between depression and survival or mortality in patients with lung cancer, and have made some progress in basic research, prospective cohort research and intervention research. In basic research, cancer can cause depression due to mediating the production of inflammatory factors, and the genotype of tumor epidermis growth factor receptor (EGFR) can explain the high mortality and risk of depression in patients with lung cancer from a certain point of view. Different studies in prospective cohort studies argue that depression is an important predictor of survival in patients with lung cancer and need to be further studied. In the aspect of intervention research, although some studies have confirmed the potential of antidepressants in anti-tumor oxidative therapy, there is no enough evidence in psychological intervention and drug intervention to prove their effectiveness in improving the survival outcome of lung cancer. In the future, it is necessary to further explore the possible mechanisms for antidepressants and psychological intervention to improve the survival time of the patients.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies indicated that trace elements may play an important role in cardiovascular diseases. However, data concerning the association between blood copper and the risk of stroke are limited. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between plasma copper and the risk of first stroke, and examine any possible effect modifiers in hypertensive patients. METHODS: We conducted a nested case-control study, using data from the China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial. Hypertension is defined as systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mm Hg, or taking antihypertensive medication. A total of 618 first stroke cases and 618 controls matched for age, sex, treatment group, and study site were included in this study. The crude and adjusted risks of first stroke were estimated by ORs and 95% CIs using conditional logistic regression, without or with adjusting for pertinent covariates, respectively. RESULTS: There were significant positive associations of plasma copper with risk of first stroke (per SD increment-OR: 1.20; 95% CI: 1.03, 1.39) and first ischemic stroke (OR: 1.26; 95% CI: 1.07, 1.50). When plasma copper was categorized in quartiles, significantly higher risks of first stroke (OR: 1.72; 95% CI: 1.12, 2.65) and first ischemic stroke (OR: 1.91; 95% CI: 1.18, 3.11) were found in participants in quartile 4 (≥ 117.0 µg/dL) than in those in quartile 1 (< 91.2 µg/dL). Furthermore, the plasma copper-first stroke association was significantly stronger in participants with higher BMI (< 25.0 compared with ≥ 25.0 kg/m2, P-interaction = 0.024). However, there was no significant association between plasma copper and first hemorrhagic stroke. CONCLUSIONS: In Chinese hypertensive patients, there was a significant positive association between baseline plasma copper and the risk of first stroke, especially among those with higher BMI.This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.gov as NCT00794885.

The success of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/PD-L1-based immunotherapy highlights the critical role played by PD-L1 in cancer progression and reveals an urgent need to develop new approaches to attenuate PD-L1 function by gaining insight into how its expression is controlled. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALK+ ALCL) expresses a high level of PD-L1 as a result of the constitutive activation of multiple oncogenic signaling pathways downstream of ALK activity, making it an excellent model in which to define the signaling processes responsible for PD-L1 upregulation in tumor cells. Here, using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9 library screening, we sought a comprehensive understanding of the molecular effectors required for PD-L1 regulation in ALK+ ALCL. Indeed, we determined that PD-L1 induction is dependent on the nucleophosmin-ALK oncoprotein activation of STAT3, as well as a signalosome containing GRB2/SOS1, which activates the MEK-ERK and PI3K-AKT signaling pathways. These signaling networks, through STAT3 and the GRB2/SOS1, ultimately induce PD-L1 expression through the action of transcription factors IRF4 and BATF3 on the enhancer region of the PD-L1 gene. IRF4 and BATF3 are essential for PD-L1 upregulation, and IRF4 expression is correlated with PD-L1 levels in primary ALK+ ALCL tissues. Targeting this oncogenic signaling pathway in ALK+ ALCL largely inhibited the ability of PD-L1-mediated tumor immune escape when cocultured with PD-1-positive T cells and natural killer cells. Thus, our identification of this previously unrecognized regulatory hub not only accelerates our understanding of the molecular circuitry that drives tumor immune escape but also provides novel opportunities to improve immunotherapeutic intervention strategies.

The relationship of serum phosphate and new-onset hyperuricemia remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the relationship of serum phosphate with the risk of new-onset hyperuricemia, and to examine any possible effect modifiers in hypertensive patients. This is a post hoc analysis of the Uric Acid substudy of the CSPPT (China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial). A total of 10 612 participants with normal uric acid levels (<357 µmol/L [6 mg/dL]) at baseline were included in the current study. The primary outcome was new-onset hyperuricemia, which was defined as a uric acid concentration ≥417 µmol/L (7 mg/dL) in men or ≥357 µmol/L (6 mg/dL) in women. During a median follow-up of 4.4 years, 1663 (15.7%) participants developed new-onset hyperuricemia. Overall, there was a significant inverse association between serum phosphate and the risk of new-onset hyperuricemia (per SD increment; odds ratio, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.66-0.76). When serum phosphate was assessed as quartiles, a significantly lower risk of new-onset hyperuricemia was found in participants in quartile 4 (≥1.4 mmol/L; odds ratio, 0.48; 95% CI, 0.40-0.57) compared with those in quartile 1 (<1.2 mmol/L). Similar results were found in males and females. In summary, there was an inverse association between serum phosphate and the risk of new-onset hyperuricemia in hypertensive adults.

Seagrass are under great stress in the tropical coast of Asia, where Enhalus acoroides is frequently the dominant species with a large food web. Here, we investigate the question of the fine-scale genetic structure of this ecologically important foundation species, subject to severe anthropogenic disturbance in China. The genetic structure will illuminate potential mechanisms for population dynamics and sustainability, which are critical for preservation of biodiversity and for decision-making in management and restoration. We evaluated the fine-scale spatial genetic structure (SGS) and flowering output of E. acoroides, and indirectly estimated the relative importance of sexual versus asexual reproduction for population persistence using spatial autocorrelation analysis. Results reveal high clonal diversity for this species, as predicted from its high sexual reproduction output. The stronger Sp statistic at the ramet-level compared with genet-level indicates that clonality increases the SGS pattern for E. acoroides. Significant SGS at the genet-level may be explained by the aggregated dispersal of seed/pollen cohorts. The estimated gene dispersal variance suggests that dispersal mediated by sexual reproduction is more important than clonal growth in this study area. The ongoing anthropogenic disturbance will negatively affect the mating pattern and the SGS patterns in the future due to massive death of shoots, and less frequency of sexual reproduction.

A simple and sensitive liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method was developed for simultaneous quantification of paeoniflorin, albiflorin, oxypaeoniflorin, liquiritin, liquiritigenin, glycyrrhetinic acid, and glycyrrhizin in rat plasma after oral administration of Shaoyao-Gancao decoction, which is traditionally used in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome. The plasma samples were pretreated with methanol as precipitant. The method exhibited good linearity (correlation coefficient (R2 ) > 0.99) with lower quantification limits of 0.595-4.69 ng/mL for all analytes. Intra- and interbatch precision, accuracy, recovery, and stability of the method were all within accepted criteria. The results showed that the pharmacokinetic behaviors of the seven compounds were altered in the pathological status of polycystic ovary syndrome. Furthermore, a total of 36 metabolites were structurally identified based on their accurate masses and fragment ions. The major metabolic pathway involves phase I metabolic reactions (such as hydroxylation), phase II metabolic reactions (such as sulfation and glucuronidation conjugation) as well as the combined multiple-step metabolism. This study is the first report on the pharmacokinetic and metabolic information of Shaoyao-Gancao decoction in both normal and model rats, which would provide scientific evidences for the bioactive chemical basis of herbal medicines and also promote the clinical application of Shaoyao-Gancao decoction for treating polycystic ovary syndrome.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are one of the most significant energy storage devices applied in power supply facilities. However, a huge number of spent LIBs would bring harmful resource waste and environmental hazards. In this study, a benign hydrometallurgical method using phytic acid as precipitant is proposed to recover useful metallic Mn ions from spent LiMn2 O4 batteries. Besides Mn-based cathodes, this recovery process is also applicable for other commercial batteries. More importantly, for the first time, the as-obtained manganous complex is employed as a nanofiller in a polyethylene oxide matrix to largely improve Li+ conductivity and transference number. As a result, when applied in all-solid-state lithium batteries, high capacity and outstanding cyclic stability are achieved with capacity retention of 86.4 % after 60 cycles at 0.1 C. The recovery of spent lithium batteries not only has benefits for the environment and resources, but also shows great potential application in all-solid-state lithium batteries, which opens up a costless and efficient circulation pathway for clean and reliable energy storage systems.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism with clinical data analysis in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) of infertile women in the Intravenous Infusion Safety Evaluation Center of Hunan Province, People's Republic of China. DESIGN: Genetic Association Study. SETTING: Reproductive medicine clinical. PATIENT(S): This genetic association study included 722 infertile women who received the standard long treatment protocol with accessible and complete electronic medical records. INTERVENTION(S): None. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): The clinical parameters were obtained from the Intravenous Infusion Safety Evaluation center. RESULT(S): Basal FSH levels in the TT group were significantly higher than those of the CC group. The FSH levels after down-regulation in the TT group were higher than those of CC/CT genotypes. The TT genotype patients received significantly higher total doses of GnRH agonist and FSH compared with CC/CT genotypes, whereas the total dose of hCG was higher in the CT genotypes compared with the CC/TT genotypes. Further association analysis between hormone levels and COH outcomes indicated significantly negative correlation of basal FSH levels with antral follicle count and number of oocytes as well as the down-regulation FSH levels with the number of metaphase II oocytes and oocytes. CONCLUSION(S): The MTHFR C677T polymorphism was associated with high doses of ovarian stimulation medications, as well as higher FSH levels. The negative correlation between FSH levels and the number of oocytes suggested that C677T polymorphism may play a role in the poor prognosis of COH oocytes. This needs to be studied in future prospective studies with longer follow-up.
