Due to their exceptional optical properties and adjustable functional characteristics, hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) demonstrate significant potential in applications such as sensing, information encryption. However, studies on the synthesis of HOFs designed to construct multifunctional platforms are scant. In this work, we report the synthesis of a new fluorescent HOF by assembling melem and isophthalic acid (IPA), designated as HOF-IPA. HOF-IPA exhibited good selectivity and sensitivity towards Fe3+, making it suitable as a fluorescent sensor for Fe3+ detection. The sensor achieved satisfactory recoveries ranging from 97.79 % to106.42 % for Fe3+ sensing, with a low relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 3.33 %, indicating significant application potential for HOF-IPA. Due to the ability of F- to mask the electrostatic action on the surface of Fe3+ and inhibit the photoelectron transfer (PET) of HOF-IPA, the HOF-IPA - Fe3+ system can be utilized as a fluorescent "off-on" sensor for F- detection. Additionally, owing to the colorless, transparent property of HOF-IPA in aqueous solution under sunlight and its blue fluorescence property under UV light (color) or microplate reader (fluorescence intensity), HOF-IPA based ink can be used for various types of information encryption, and all yielding favorable outcomes.

Stimulus-responsive inverse opal photonic crystals (IOPCs) with tunable structural colors show significant promise in information security. To improve upon the traditional bilayer structure with limited color information and single decoding mode, this work developed an ethanol-responsive structure with multi-level information encryption ability by inserting a functional layer into two shielding layers (red Layer A with a photonic stop band (PSB) at 640 nm and green Layer C with a PSB at 530 nm). The functional layer was composed of colorless Layer B, a quick response (QR) code pattern made of TiO2 nanoparticles, and a dense polymer. Due to the isolation of distinct layers, different reflectance values, and different PSB positions of the three-layer IOPC, the structural color of Layer B could only be "turned on" by wetting the entire structure when its PSB redshifted from 360 nm to 460 nm. Specifically, when either side was individually wetted, the PSB of Layer A or C redshifted to 825 nm or 685 nm, and the color of the QR code was dominated by the unwetted red or green layer. After the entire structure had been soaked, the blue QR code was decoded. Meanwhile, when the detecting angle increased from 5° to 60°, the PSBs of Layers B and C in the wetted three-layer IOPC blueshifted from 460 nm to 365 nm and from 685 nm to 540 nm, respectively, which resulted in a cascade decoding process with a single- or mixed-color output. This structure provides a good foundation for multi-level information encryption.

Objetivo: mapear as tecnologias em saúde para manejo no cuidado à pessoa com hanseníase na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Método: revisão de escopo baseada na metodologia do JBI, em seis bases de dados, seguindo a checklist Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews. Foram incluídos estudos publicados em qualquer idioma, com diferentes abordagens metodológicas. Resultados: os 14 estudos incluídos na revisão mostram que a aplicabilidade de tecnologias para o manejo do cuidado a pessoa com hanseníase na Atenção Primária à Saúde, possibilitam a confirmação de diagnóstico, acompanhamento, monitoramento e prevenção de incapacidades. Conclusão: nota-se que tecnologia em saúde se apresentam como ferramentas que auxiliam no processo de cuidado na assistência a pessoas com hanseníase, a fim de permitir aos profissionais de saúde conhecimento sobre a doença, proporcionando qualidade na sua prática de saúde.
Objective: to map health technologies for managing the care of people with leprosy in Primary Health Care. Method: scoping review based on the JBI methodology in six databases, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews checklist. Studies published in any language were included, with different methodological approaches. Results: the 14 studies included in the review show that the applicability of technologies for the management of care for people with leprosy in Primary Health Care makes it possible to confirm diagnosis, follow-up, monitoring, and prevention of disabilities. Conclusion: it has been noted that health technologies are tools that help in the process of caring for people with leprosy, to provide health professionals with knowledge about the disease, improving quality of health practice.

Conclusión: se percibe que las tecnologías en salud se presentan como herramientas que ayudan en el proceso de cuidado en la asistencia a personas con lepra, con fines de permitir a los profesionales de salud el acceso al conocimiento sobre la enfermedad, proporcionando calidad en su práctica de salud.

OBJECTIVES: Many choices are made in the context of one's social network, but age differences in consulting others during decision-making remain underexplored. This pre-registered study examined age differences in the composition of decision-related social networks and associated social preferences and motivations. Based on prior findings regarding age differences in information-seeking and socioemotional preferences, we predicted that with advanced age people would consult fewer and more emotionally close social partners, consult them less frequently, rate consultations as more helpful, and prioritize social goals during decision-making. METHODS: An adult lifespan sample (N = 485; Mage = 51.08; SDage = 19.63, rangeage = 18-96 years) considered hypothetical choices and reported how many and what types of people they would consult and how often they would consult them. They also identified their most important decision consultants and evaluated interactions with those individuals. RESULTS: As predicted, age was associated with consulting fewer people less frequently and this was not explained by having a smaller range of potential consultants in one's network. Contrary to predictions, the proportion of close social partners in decision networks and the perceived helpfulness of consultants did not vary significantly by age. Moreover, older adults were less likely than younger adults to prioritize relationship quality over decision quality. Controlling for potential covariates did not diminish the observed age effects. DISCUSSION: These findings align with the prior literature on age-related decrements in pre-decisional information seeking but suggest that age-related preferences for close social partners and socioemotional goals do not extend to decision-related consultations.

In December 2020, Argentina approved a new abortion law following decades of feminist and social advocacy. This paper presents qualitative findings from interviews and focus group discussions with people in local communities focusing on how individuals of reproductive age access and communicate sexual and reproductive health information, particularly regarding abortion. Sixteen in-depth interviews were conducted with key informants working in the field of SRHR and four focus group discussions took place with cisgender women and girls, transmasculine people and non-binary people of reproductive age. We found that information exchange and communication about sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly abortion, took place mainly through informal social networks engaging with activists and feminist grass-root organisations. These informal social networks were built on trust as a collective affect that enabled open communication about abortion. Information sharing through word of mouth, in person and via digital means using different social media platforms, is an important means of information sharing and communication in Argentina. Monitoring the implementation of abortion policies in this country should include investigating the impact of people accessing abortion through informal social networks in terms of abortion pathways and intersections with the formal health system.

BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence and the language models derived from it, such as ChatGPT, offer immense possibilities, particularly in the field of medicine. It is already evident that ChatGPT can provide adequate and, in some cases, expert-level responses to health-related queries and advice for patients. However, it is currently unknown how patients perceive these capabilities, whether they can derive benefit from them, and whether potential risks, such as harmful suggestions, are detected by patients. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to clarify whether patients can get useful and safe health care advice from an artificial intelligence chatbot assistant. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted using 100 publicly available health-related questions from 5 medical specialties (trauma, general surgery, otolaryngology, pediatrics, and internal medicine) from a web-based platform for patients. Responses generated by ChatGPT-4.0 and by an expert panel (EP) of experienced physicians from the aforementioned web-based platform were packed into 10 sets consisting of 10 questions each. The blinded evaluation was carried out by patients regarding empathy and usefulness (assessed through the question: "Would this answer have helped you?") on a scale from 1 to 5. As a control, evaluation was also performed by 3 physicians in each respective medical specialty, who were additionally asked about the potential harm of the response and its correctness. RESULTS: In total, 200 sets of questions were submitted by 64 patients (mean 45.7, SD 15.9 years; 29/64, 45.3% male), resulting in 2000 evaluated answers of ChatGPT and the EP each. ChatGPT scored higher in terms of empathy (4.18 vs 2.7; P<.001) and usefulness (4.04 vs 2.98; P<.001). Subanalysis revealed a small bias in terms of levels of empathy given by women in comparison with men (4.46 vs 4.14; P=.049). Ratings of ChatGPT were high regardless of the participant's age. The same highly significant results were observed in the evaluation of the respective specialist physicians. ChatGPT outperformed significantly in correctness (4.51 vs 3.55; P<.001). Specialists rated the usefulness (3.93 vs 4.59) and correctness (4.62 vs 3.84) significantly lower in potentially harmful responses from ChatGPT (P<.001). This was not the case among patients. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that ChatGPT is capable of supporting patients in health-related queries better than physicians, at least in terms of written advice through a web-based platform. In this study, ChatGPT's responses had a lower percentage of potentially harmful advice than the web-based EP. However, it is crucial to note that this finding is based on a specific study design and may not generalize to all health care settings. Alarmingly, patients are not able to independently recognize these potential dangers.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the accuracy of information provided by ChatGPT-4o to patients about tracheotomy. METHODS: Twenty common questions of patients about tracheotomy were presented to ChatGPT-4o twice (7-day intervals). The accuracy, clarity, relevance, completeness, referencing, and usefulness of responses were assessed by a board-certified otolaryngologist and a board-certified intensive care unit practitioner with the Quality Analysis of Medical Artificial Intelligence (QAMAI) tool. The interrater reliability and the stability of the ChatGPT-4o responses were evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Pearson correlation analysis. RESULTS: The total scores of QAMAI were 22.85 ± 4.75 for the intensive care practitioner and 21.45 ± 3.95 for the otolaryngologist, which consists of moderate-to-high accuracy. The otolaryngologist and the ICU practitioner reported high ICC (0.807; 95%CI: 0.655-0.911). The highest QAMAI scores have been found for clarity and completeness of explanations. The QAMAI scores for the accuracy of the information and the referencing were the lowest. The information related to the post-laryngectomy tracheostomy remains incomplete or erroneous. ChatGPT-4o did not provide references for their responses. The stability analysis reported high stability in regenerated questions. CONCLUSION: The accuracy of ChatGPT-4o is moderate-to-high in providing information related to the tracheotomy. However, patients using ChatGPT-4o need to be cautious about the information related to tracheotomy care, steps, and the differences between temporary and permanent tracheotomies.

BACKGROUND: While the evidence base on web-based cancer misinformation continues to develop, relatively little is known about the extent of such information on the world's largest e-commerce website, Amazon. Multiple media reports indicate that Amazon may host on its platform questionable cancer-related products for sale, such as books on purported cancer cures. This context suggests an urgent need to evaluate Amazon.com for cancer misinformation. OBJECTIVE: This study sought to (1) examine to what extent are misleading cancer cure books for sale on Amazon.com and (2) determine how cancer cure books on Amazon.com provide misleading cancer information. METHODS: We searched "cancer cure" on Amazon.com and retrieved the top 1000 English-language book search results. We reviewed the books' descriptions and titles to determine whether the books provided misleading cancer cure or treatment information. We considered a book to be misleading if it suggested scientifically unsupported cancer treatment approaches to cure or meaningfully treat cancer. Among books coded as misleading, we conducted an inductive latent thematic analysis to determine the informational value the books sought to offer. RESULTS: Nearly half (494/1000, 49.4%) of the sampled "cancer cure" books for sale on Amazon.com appeared to contain misleading cancer treatment and cure information. Overall, 17 (51.5%) out of 33 Amazon.com results pages had 50% or more of the books coded as misleading. The first search result page had the highest percentage of misleading books (23/33, 69.7%). Misleading books (n=494) contained eight themes: (1) claims of efficacious cancer cure strategies (n=451, 91.3%), (2) oversimplifying cancer and cancer treatment (n=194, 39.3%), (3) falsely justifying ineffective treatments as science based (n=189, 38.3%), (4) discrediting conventional cancer treatments (n=169, 34.2%), (5) finding the true cause of cancer (n=133, 26.9%), (6) homogenizing cancer (n=132, 26.7%), (7) discovery of new cancer treatments (n=119, 24.1%), and (8) cancer cure suppression (n=82, 16.6%). CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrate that misleading cancer cure books are for sale, visible, and prevalent on Amazon.com, with prominence in initial search hits. These misleading books for sale on Amazon can be conceived of as forming part of a wider, cross-platform, web-based information environment in which misleading cancer cures are often given prominence. Our results suggest that greater enforcement is needed from Amazon and that cancer-focused organizations should engage in preemptive misinformation debunking.

BACKGROUND: Pulse oximetry is a noninvasive method widely used in critical care and various clinical settings to monitor blood oxygen saturation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, its application for at-home oxygen saturation monitoring became prevalent. Further investigations found that pulse oximetry devices show decreased accuracy when used on individuals with darker skin tones. This study aimed to investigate the influence of X (previously known as Twitter) on the dissemination of information and the extent to which it raised health care sector awareness regarding racial disparities in pulse oximetry. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the impact of social media, specifically X, on increasing awareness of racial disparities in the accuracy of pulse oximetry and to map this analysis against the evolution of published literature on this topic. METHODS: We used social network analysis drawing upon Network Overview Discovery and Exploration for Excel Pro (NodeXL Pro; Social Media Research Foundation) to examine the impact of X conversations concerning pulse oximetry devices. Searches were conducted using the Twitter Academic Track application programming interface (as it was known then). These searches were performed each year (January to December) from 2012 to 2022 to cover 11 years with up to 52,052 users, generating 188,051 posts. We identified the nature of influencers in this field and monitored the temporal dissemination of information about social events and regulatory changes. Furthermore, our social media analysis was mapped against the evolution of published literature on this topic, which we located using PubMed. RESULTS: Conversations on X increased health care awareness of racial bias in pulse oximetry. They also facilitated the rapid dissemination of information, attaining a substantial audience within a compressed time frame, which may have impacted regulatory action announced concerning the investigation of racial biases in pulse oximetry. This increased awareness led to a surge in scientific research on the subject, highlighting a growing recognition of the necessity to understand and address these disparities in medical technology and its usage. CONCLUSIONS: Social media platforms such as X enabled researchers, health experts, patients, and the public to rapidly share information, increasing awareness of potential racial bias. These platforms also helped connect individuals interested in these topics and facilitated discussions that spurred further research. Our research provides a basis for understanding the role of X and other social media platforms in spreading health-related information about potential biases in medical devices such as pulse oximeters.

INTRODUCTION: Uncertainty about safe engagement in activity during early recovery after cardiac events is common. Websites are a potential source of health information, especially for those unable to access follow-up support from health professionals. The variability in online health information quality is concerning as poor web-based information can negatively impact patient health outcomes and the ability to self-manage. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality and self-management-related content of websites providing information about physical activity following an MI or cardiac surgery. METHODS: Patient-facing websites were searched using three search engines (Google, Bing, and Yahoo). Information about activities of daily living (ADLs), exercise (aerobic and resistance), and safety considerations were explored. Self-management strategies for physical activity were evaluated using a customized 9-item checklist. Website quality was assessed using the 4-item JAMA framework criteria. RESULTS: 31 websites were included. Aerobic exercise, ADLs, and safety considerations were the most comprehensively covered topics. Resistance exercise was less frequently and comprehensively covered. The median self-management checklist score was 3/9 (with nine being the highest possible score). Partnering with healthcare professionals, decision-making, action planning, and verbal persuasion were the most common self-management skills addressed by the websites. In contrast, ten or fewer websites modelled mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, reflection, problem-solving, and resource utilization. The median JAMA score for website quality was 2/4 (with four being the highest possible score). CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight quality improvement opportunities for web providers and provide insight for patients and clinicians regarding the highest quality websites that best meet the information and self-management needs following an MI or cardiac surgery.

It is becoming increasingly common for researchers to consider leveraging information from external sources to enhance the analysis of small-scale studies. While much attention has focused on univariate survival data, correlated survival data are prevalent in epidemiological investigations. In this article, we propose a unified framework to improve the estimation of the marginal accelerated failure time model with correlated survival data by integrating additional information given in the form of covariate effects evaluated in a reduced accelerated failure time model. Such auxiliary information can be summarized by using valid estimating equations and hence can then be combined with the internal linear rank-estimating equations via the generalized method of moments. We investigate the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator and show that it is more efficient than the conventional estimator using internal data only. When population heterogeneity exists, we revise the proposed estimation procedure and present a shrinkage estimator to protect against bias and loss of efficiency. Moreover, the proposed estimation procedure can be further refined to accommodate the non-negligible uncertainty in the auxiliary information, leading to more trustable inference conclusions. Simulation results demonstrate the finite sample performance of the proposed methods, and empirical application on the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial substantiates its practical relevance.

PURPOSE: Clinical trials are essential to the advancement of cancer care. However, clinical trial knowledge and participation remain critically low among adult patients with cancer. Health information technology (HIT) could play an important role in improving clinical trial knowledge and engagement among cancer survivors. METHODS: We used data from 3,794 adults who completed the 2020 Health Information National Trends Survey, 626 (16.2%) of whom were cancer survivors. We examined the prevalence of HIT use in the study population and by cancer history using chi-squared tests. We used multivariable logistic regression models to examine the impact of HIT use on clinical trial knowledge for cancer survivors and respondents with no cancer history, respectively. RESULTS: Approximately 63.8% of cancer survivors reported having some knowledge of clinical trials. Almost half of the cancer survivors used HIT to communicate with doctors (47.1%) and make health appointments (49.4%), 68.0% used HIT to look up health information online and 42.2% used it to check test results. In the adjusted models, the use of HIT in communicating with doctors [OR 2.79; 95% CI (1.41, 5.54)], looking up health information online [OR 2.84; 95% CI (1.04, 7.77)], and checking test results [OR 2.47; 95% CI (1.12, 5.43)] was associated with having some knowledge of clinical trials. CONCLUSION: HIT use for engaging with the healthcare team and health information gathering is associated with higher clinical trial knowledge in cancer survivors. Given the rapid increase in mobile technology access globally and the increased use of HIT, digital technology can be leveraged to improve clinical trial knowledge and engagement among cancer survivors.

BACKGROUND: The use of information communication technologies such as telemedicine has increased over the years, offering access to specialized healthcare even in remote locations. However, telemedicine in interprofessional team training is seldom included in medical or nursing programs, and little is known about how to practise these scenarios. This study aimed to explore how medical and nursing students experience teamwork when one team member is participating remotely and digitally. METHODS: Following interprofessional team training in which one team member participated remotely, focus group interviews were conducted with three teams, each comprising one medical student and two nursing students (n = 9 students in total). The focus group interviews were analysed with thematic content analysis. The Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety model was applied as a theoretical framework and served as a lens in the analysis. RESULTS: Three themes were identified in the analysis: challenging the dynamic of leadership, becoming familiar with a new setting, and finding new strategies to communicate. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study suggest that future physicians and nurses need to enhance their knowledge of practicing teamwork through telemedicine during their education, as the use of telemedicine continues to grow.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the role of satellite glial cells in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at the Tianshu (ST25) and Shangjuxu (ST37) combination. METHODS: A model for visceral hypersensitivity in IBS was induced through colorectal distension (CRD) stimulation. Clean-grade male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into four groups: a normal group (NG), a model group (MG), an electroacupuncture group (EA), and a glial cell inhibitor group (FCA). Bilateral EA (2/100 Hz, 1 mA, 30 min) was administered at the Tianshu (ST25) and Shangjuxu (ST37) in week 6. Abdominal withdrawal reflex (AWR) scores were used to assess the behavioral response associated with visceral hyperalgesia, while hematoxylin-eosin staining was employed to evaluate pathological changes in the colon. The protein and mRNA levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in the colon and colon-related dorsal root ganglion (DRG) were analyzed using immun-ofluorescence, immun-ohistochemistry, Western blotting, real-time polymerase chain reaction. The impact of EA on electrophysiological properties of colon-related DRG neurons was observed through whole-cell patch clamp analysis. RESULTS: EA significantly reduced the visceral pain behavior scores in rats with IBS in response to graded (20, 40, 60, 80 mm Hg) CRD stimulation. Additionally, EA downregulated the protein and mRNA expression levels of GFAP in the colon and colon-related DRG of rats with IBS. EA also regulated the resting membrane potential, rheobase and action potential of colon-related DRG neurons in rats with IBS. CONCLUSIONS: EA can regulate the excitatory properties of colon-related DRG neurons by downregulating the protein and mRNA expression of GFAP in the colon and colon-related DRG, indicating a potential neurobiological mechanism by which EA relieves visceral hypersensitivity in rats with IBS.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of Longteng Tongluo recipe (, LTTL) combined with three-step analgesia for the treatment of lung cancer pain, and the changes in serum miRNA expressions before- and after treatment with LTTL and its correlation with lung cancer pain. The possible mechanism underlying LTTL effects on the treatment of lung cancer pain was conducted. METHODS: The pilot study was conducted at the oncology ward of the Yueyang Hospital and the Longhua Hospital between March 2018 and October 2019. A prospective, single-blind, placebo controlled, randomized clinical trial of LTTL or placebo combined with three-step analgesia treatments were administered to 24 cancer pain patients diagnosed with lung cancer. Analgesic efficacy was investigated as the primary outcome. Equivalent morphine consumption and numerical rating scale (NRS) scores were used as the secondary outcome. In the present study, we utilized deep sequencing techniques to compare the differential miRNA expressions in serum samples obtained from two groups: the lung cancer pain treatment group (LTTL + three-step analgesia) and the control group (placebo + three-step analgesia). Next, we employed the target prediction database to investigate the target genes for differential miRNA expressions and Gene Ontology (GO) analysis along with Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis to examine the roles and the major biochemical and signaling pathways related to the differentially expressed target genes, respectively. RESULTS: LTTL treatment significantly reduces the NRS score (P = 0.021) as compared to those before treatment, along with significant reductions in the total morphine equivalent consumption (P = 0.007) and the average daily equivalent morphine consumption (P = 0.003) as opposed to the control group. The expressions of 31 miRNAs differed considerably between the two groups of patients (≥ 2 times up-modulated or down-regulated between these groups, P<0.05). For instance, the miRNAs expression levels for patients before treatment (has-miR-2110 and has-miR-7d-3p) were significantly enhanced as compared to the healthy people, after LTTL treatment, the expressions of miR-2110 and miR-7d-3p in patients with lung cancer pain reduced significantly. Studies show that the above two miRNAs were significantly associated with lung cancer pain, which could mediate lung cancer pain. Furthermore, we identified 355 genes as potential targets of the 31 differentially expressed miRNAs. Pathway enrichment analyses using KEGG and GO analysis indicated that these target genes may play a crucial role in the development and modulation of lung cancer pain. CONCLUSION: LTTL demonstrated a discernible impact on alleviating lung cancer pain and its mechanism of action may be related to the downregulation of has-miR-2110 and has-miR-7d-3p expressions. This pilot study provides support for further exploration of LTTL in patients with lung cancer pain.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of acupuncture on learning and memory impairment, oxidative stress and autophagy induced by sleep depriv ation in rats, and to analyze the related mechanism. METHODS: Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into a normal group, sleep deprivation group and acupuncture group. The rat model of sleep deprivation was established by a modified multiplatform sleep deprivation method. The Baihui (GV20), Shenmen (HT7) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) acupoints of rats were located to give electroacupuncture (density wave, frequency 20 Hz, intensity 1 mA) to maintain the needle feeling, and to keep the needle for 15 min and continuous acupuncture for 7 d. The spatial learning and memory abilities of the rats were detected by the water maze test. The content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in the brain were detected by an assay kit, and the autophagy related proteins light chain 3 alpha (LC3A), light chain 3 beta (LC3B) and Beclin 1 and the activation of the protein kinase B (PKB/AKT) and mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway in the rat's brain were detected by Western blotting. RESULTS: Compared with the normal group, the time spent in the target quadrant (P < 0.05) and the number of times entering the target quadrant (P < 0.05) in the rats of sleep deprivation group were significantly reduced, and the content of MDA was significantly increased (P < 0.01), while the activities of SOD and GPX (P < 0.01) in the brain were significantly decreased, and LC3A â ¡/â , LC3B â ¡/â and Beclin 1 increased significantly (P < 0.01), while p-AKT (ser473)/AKT, p-mTOR (ser2448)/mTOR and p-p70s6K (thr389)/p70S6 decreased significantly (P < 0.01). Compared with the sleep deprivation group, the time spent in the target quadrant and the times of entering the target quadrant (P < 0.05) in the rats of acupuncture group after 7 d of treatment were significantly increased, Additionally, the content of MDA was significantly decreased (P < 0.05), while the activities of SOD and GPX (P < 0.05) in the brain were significantly increased. Moreover, the levels of LC3A â ¡/â , LC3Bâ ¡/â and Beclin 1 decreased significantly (P < 0.05), and that of p-AKT (ser473)/AKT, p-mTOR (ser2448)/mTOR and p-p70s6K (thr389)/p70s6k increased significantly (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture can significantly improve the learning and memory damage caused by sleep deprivation and inhibit oxidative stress and autophagy, and its effect is related to the activation of AKT/mTOR signaling.

In this technological era, the implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the learning environment is impacted by many factors, chief among them are those related to the teachers whose experience and attitude play a key role in the proper integration of technology. This study purports to investigate the effect of teachers' experience on their attitude towards ICT integration and their level of usage in the classroom. It used a quantitative descriptive method by adopting two surveys (Hernández-Ramos et al., 2014 and Sánchez et al., 2012) as the main instrument for data collection. The survey was administered in four English language private urban schools in Lebanon. This study shows that the teachers hold an overall positive attitude towards ICT integration in the classroom. However, no significant relationship between their attitude and years of experience is identified. While teachers demonstrate a moderate to low ICT usage, a significant negative correlation between their use of ICT in the classroom and their years of experience is evident. These findings are not consistent with the prevalent literature that tends to associate positive attitudes towards technology with higher usage of ICT in different educational settings around the world. Limitations of the study and recommendations for sustainable implementation of ICT in the classroom are provided.

Background: Health information-seeking behavior refers to individuals' targeted actions to satisfy their health information needs and search for relevant disease-related information. Nowadays, social media platforms provide a great opportunity for meeting health information needs and delivering preventive education regarding human papillomavirus (HPV). The purpose of this study is the information-seeking behavior of Iranian young adults (18-28 years old) regarding HPV on social media, a preventive approach to HPV. Methods: The present descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2023 among Iranian boys and girls aged 18-28 years. A multistage cluster sampling method was used to select 3840 participants. The data collection tool was Longo's Health Information-Seeking Behavior Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS software. Results: The results showed that Iranian youth aged 18-28 were more inclined to seek information on social media about the transmission routes and preventive measures for HPV. The primary informational need regarding transmission was "I want to know the main route of HPV transmission is through vaginal and anal intercourse?", and regarding prevention, it was "Can condoms prevent HPV infection?" Additionally, the findings indicated that young individuals sought information about HPV after their first sexual encounter. Most of the information needs of the youth were fulfilled through YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp, mainly in video format. Approximately 85.10% of the youth were satisfied with the information obtained from social media. The results revealed a significant and positive relationship between the health information needs of young adults (18-28 years old) in the area of HPV and personal factors. Gender, age, marital status, education level, history of HPV infection, and engaging is unprotected extramarital sex were identified as significant influential factors on the level of information needs of young individuals, especially regarding HPV preventive measures (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Health authorities and disease control and prevention centers need to harness the potential of social media in meeting the informational needs of youth and providing education and awareness, especially concerning the transmission and prevention of HPV.

Background and Aims: Surgery in the pediatric age group entails a significant amount of anxiety for parents. Due to anxiety, parents are unable to take care of their children, which could affect the child's well-being and contributes to poor outcomes. The primary objective of this study is to determine the frequency of preoperative anxiety in parents before the surgery of their children. Methods: It is a cross-sectional descriptive study that included either parent of 147 children of American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) I & II, aged 1-12 years undergoing tonsillectomy over the period of 1 year. Each parent's demographic data were recorded and requested to answer a proforma containing the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety Information Scale (APAIS) for assessing anxiety on a 5-point Likert scale. Median interquartile range (IQR), and frequency (%) were used to report the normal, skewed, and categorical variables. APAIS anxiety and information scores were compared by using either the Mann-Whitney U-test or the Kruskal-Wallis test. Furthermore, anxiety scores were grouped (present/absent) with a cut-off score of 11 for the presence of anxiety, and multivariate logistic regression was performed to explore the relationship between potential risk factors and the parent's anxiety. Results: Overall, anxiety was present in 59 (40.1%) respondents with 20 (33.9%) being fathers and 39 (66.1%) mothers. The median (IQR) for APAIS anxiety and information score were 9 ± 5 and 5 ± 2, respectively. Higher median anxiety scores were observed statistically significant in children under 5 years old, mother respondents, mothers aged 35 or younger, fathers under 40, and mothers with graduate or higher education (p < 0.05). Father respondents (AOR = 0.3, 95% CI = 0.1-0.8, p = 0.01), and mother's education less than graduation (AOR = 0.2, 95% CI = 0.1-0.6, p = 0.006) were also found to be statistically significant predictors. Conclusion: There is a significant prevalence of anxiety in parents of children who underwent surgery under general anaesthesia, and mothers have showed significantly higher anxiety levels than fathers.

Objectives: Lack of trust and transparency is stressed as a challenge for clinical implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). In breast cancer screening, AI-supported reading shows promising results but more research is needed on how medical experts, which are facing the integration of AI into their work, reason about trust and information needs. From a sociotechnical information practice perspective, we add to this knowledge by a Swedish case study. This study aims to: (1) clarify Swedish breast radiologists' views on trust, information and expertise pertaining to AI in mammography screening and (2) analytically address ideas about medical professionals' critical engagement with AI and motivations for trust in AI. Method: An online survey was distributed to Swedish breast radiologists. Survey responses were analysed by descriptive statistical method, correlation analysis and qualitative content analysis. The results were used as foundation for analysing trust and information as parts of critical engagements with AI. Results: Of the Swedish breast radiologists (n = 105), 47 answered the survey (response rate = 44.8%). 53.2% (n = 25) of the respondents would to a high/somewhat high degree trust AI assessments. To a great extent, additional information would support the respondents' trust evaluations. What type of critical engagement medical professionals are expected to perform on AI as decision support remains unclear. Conclusions: There is a demand for enhanced information, explainability and transparency of AI-supported mammography. Further discussion and agreement are needed considering what the desired goals for trust in AI should be and how it relates to medical professionals' critical evaluation of AI-made claims in medical decision support.
