RESUMO
Social acceptability of forestry practices plays a key role in defining sustainable forestry policies and strategies. In this study an online survey was distributed among members of environmental, non-governmental, professional, and academic organizations to assess the acceptability of forestry practices in Puerto Rico among members of civic society interested in environmental management issues. Participants were asked about their perception of forest uses, their preference of tree harvesting technologies, methods that may apply in small scale wood production settings, and trust in organizations providing forest information. We also inquired about attitudes towards economic activity in forests and the impact of such activity on recreation and biodiversity. The results show that even though participants do not place a high priority on economic development through forestry activities, acceptance of forest management for wood harvesting will be possible by considering adherence to particular forestry technologies and methods to safeguard current recreation activities and biodiversity conservation. Social acceptability information would be worthwhile when seeking consensus among a broader group of local stakeholders. As a next step we suggest the creation of a council constituted by diverse forestry sector stakeholders that would engage in a strategic planning exercise to delineate a clear road map that can guide short and long-term sustainable forest management, including wood industry development.

Caminhar é estar em movimento para a vivência de encontros com o esperado e com o inesperado. Encontrar-se com existências e produções negras acabou sendo o objetivo da tese que se iniciou com o questionamento acerca do que acontece com o pesquisador quando está com uma pesquisa de perspectiva cartográfica em curso. Temos nas páginas desta tese o que aconteceu comigo, Ayubu: uma abertura e um interesse vital pelas produções e existências negras naquilo que elas podiam me dizer e transmitir e, ainda, naquilo que elas de algum modo diziam de meus modos de perceber e agir no mundo. Assim, transver a si refere-se ao um exercício sobre si, no sentido de um processo de atualização de potências em diferentes direções para um pensar-experimentar produção de subjetividades. Os caminhos de Ayubu dizem de encontros com um conjunto de gentes dentro e fora da academia, nas artes e também fora dela que estão a produzir e a pensar um país e, porque não, mundos.
To walk is to be in movement to experience encounters with the expected and the unexpected. Meeting with existences and black productions was the objective of the thesis that began with the questioning about what happens to the researcher when he is with a cartographic perspective research in progress. We have in the pages of this thesis what happened to me, Ayubu: an openness and a vital interest in black productions and existences in what they could tell me and transmit and, also, in what they somehow said of my ways of perceiving and acting in the world. Thus, "transver a si (itself)" refers to an exercise on itself, in the sense of a process of updating potency in different directions for a think-experience production of subjectivities. Ways of Ayubu tell of encounters with a group of people inside and outside the academy, in the arts and also outside it that are producing and thinking a country and, why not, worlds.

Introducción: Para las ciencias médicas resulta clave el papel del presidente del Comité Académico de la especialidad por lo complejo que resulta la conducción de los procesos de formación de los residentes, dada la diversidad de las especialidades, los escenarios docentes y la creciente matrícula. Objetivo: Identificar las potencialidades y debilidades en el comportamiento humano de los presidentes de los comités académicos de las especialidades médicas en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas Calixto García. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de desarrollo de corte educacional. Se emplearon métodos teóricos y empíricos, acompañados por un conjunto de procesos lógicos del pensamiento: análisis, síntesis, abstracción, generalización, entre otros. Resultados: Mediante la triangulación de los resultados de los indicadores evaluados, se identificaron como potencialidades el dominio de la lógica del plan de estudio y los elementos que integran el programa de formación; entre las debilidades educativas, el nivel para realizar la preparación de los profesores sobre el sistema de evaluación en el régimen de residencia; y, dentro de las debilidades organizativas, el nivel de aplicación de los documentos rectores para la formación de residentes. Conclusiones: Se realizó la identificación del estado del comportamiento humano de los presidentes de los comités académicos de las especialidades médicas en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas Calixto García, lo que constituye el punto de partida para el diseño de actividades educativas continuas, permanentes y contextualizadas a la práctica pedagógica de los presidentes, encaminados al mejoramiento del comportamiento humano(AU)
Introduction: For medical sciences, the role of a Chairperson to the Academic Committee of any specialty is paramount, due to the complexity of conducting the training of residents, given the diversity of specialties, the teaching scenarios and the growing enrollment. Objective: To identify the potentialities and weaknesses in the human behavior of the chairpersons to the academic committees of medical specialties at Facultad de Ciencias Médicas Calixto García. Methods: An educational development study was carried out. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, accompanied by a set of logical thought processes: analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, among others. Results: Through the triangulation of the results of the evaluated indicators, the mastery of the logic of the study plan and the elements making up the training program were identified as potentialities; together with, among the educational weaknesses, the level to carry out the training of professors concerning the evaluation system in the residence regime; as well as, within the organizational weaknesses, the level of application of the guiding documents for the training of residents. Conclusions: The state of human behavior in the chairpersons to the academic committees of medical specialties at Facultad de Ciencias Médicas Calixto García was identified, being the starting point for the design of continuous and permanent educational activities contextualized according to the pedagogical practice of the chairpersons, aimed at the improvement of human behavior(AU)
