RESUMO

Digital finance is playing an increasingly prominent role in economic development. This paper examines the impact of digital finance on industrial structure upgrading based on panel data from 289 Chinese prefecture-level cities from 2011 to 2020. The paper adopts fixed effects, mediating effects, and spatial econometric models and the findings are as follows. First, digital finance development significantly boosts industrial structure upgrading in Chinese cities. The evidence remains valid after various robustness tests. Second, digital finance and industrial structure upgrading exhibit positive spatial spillover effects. Third, digital finance indirectly affects industrial structure upgrading through innovation, entrepreneurship and the structure of household consumption channels. Fourth, the influence of digital finance is more significant in cities with more developed economies, less financialization and lower income inequality. Finally, among the sub-indicators of digital finance, the breadth of coverage plays the most significant role, inspiring policymakers and financial institutions to speed up the digitization infrastructure in backward areas.

RESUMO

Entrepreneurship and innovation are cornerstones of the economy and move healthcare forward. Most physicians have little experience or knowledge in developing and commercializing novel concepts and ideas. It is important to focus on structured thinking concepts, fundraising, intellectual property, FDA regulations, and initial incorporation and teambuilding strategies. There are various aspects of creating ideas and moving them from notes scribbled on a napkin to a product or service, which can then be integrated into the economic fabric of the healthcare system. Surgeon founders and innovators can then share key aspects any surgeon should consider when becoming an entrepreneur.

RESUMO

Recent accomplishments in genome sequencing techniques have resulted in vast and complex genomic data sets, which have been used to uncover the genetic correlates of not only strictly medical phenomena but also psychological characteristics such as personality traits. In this commentary, we call for the use of genomic data analysis to unlock the valuable field of the genetics of entrepreneurship. Understanding what makes an entrepreneur and what explains their success is paramount given the importance of entrepreneurship to individual, organizational, and societal growth and success. Most of the studies into the genetics of entrepreneurship have investigated familial entrepreneurial inclinations in the form of parent-offspring comparisons or twin studies. However, these do not offer a complete picture of the etiology of entrepreneurship. The use of big data analytics combined with the rapidly growing field of genetic mapping has the potential to offer a more complete picture of the etiology of entrepreneurship by allowing researchers to pinpoint precisely which genes and pathways underlie entrepreneurial behavior and success. We review the risks and opportunities which accompany this endeavor and make the case that, ultimately, prioritizing more research into the genetics of entrepreneurship has the potential to be of value to both science and society.

RESUMO

Background - Handling non-observed activities pose major challenges to the governments and other stakeholders. Non-observed activities refer to underground activities, illegal activities, informal sector and any other activities that result in goods or services consumed by the household. The impact of these non-observed activities shows that the volume of people involved in the informal sector will rapidly increase. Informal economic activities are technically illegal yet are not intended as antisocial,   thereby remaining acceptable to many individuals within the society. This research aimed to identify the factors that lead to entrepreneurial necessity and opportunity.   Methods - The data of 51 respondents who were employed as informal entrepreneurs in Klang Valley areas in Malaysia was collected with the use of a questionnaire and convenient and proportionate sampling techniques. The data were analysed using SPSS software.   Results - The two primary drivers of informal entrepreneurial activity were necessity and opportunity. The inability to find a formal job was an example of being driven by necessity. Meanwhile, individuals that are driven by opportunity chose to work independently in these informal sectors. Between necessity and engagement, refinement acted as a mediator. Often, necessity and opportunity do not automatically translate into successful entrepreneurship; further refinement is required in terms of market potential, technology usage, location preferences, and capital requirements. Improved refinement results in increased entrepreneurial engagement.  Conclusions - The role and contribution of the informal sector entrepreneurship in economic development need to be evaluated and not just observed as an opportunity for individuals who choose this type of career. Therefore, further research is required in a wider variety of contexts to evaluate whether the same remains true in different populations. The results of this study can be useful for the government to set policies to encourage the transition of informal to formal entrepreneurships in Malaysia.

RESUMO

Changes in digital technology have brought about new opportunities in the field of financial poverty alleviation in China, and mobile payment as a new digital financial model is important in helping families to lift themselves out of poverty effectively and prevent a return to poverty. This paper examines the impact of mobile payment on household poverty vulnerability and the mechanism of action using the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) 2017 microsurvey data. After adopting the IVprobit model and a series of robustness tests, we found: (1) mobile payment significantly negatively impacts household poverty vulnerability; (2) the mechanism analysis indicates that promoting entrepreneurship and improving risk management capabilities are the main channels through which mobile payment mitigates household poverty vulnerability; (3) household entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial survival significantly reduce the probability of poverty vulnerability; and (4) the probit regression analysis explores how mobile payment has a greater negative impact on poverty vulnerability among low-income, homeless, and relatively backward households in rural or western areas. This work contributes to the literature on the use of electronic communication technology to eradicate poverty and on inclusive finance, providing vital results for other countries to use as an example.

RESUMO

Facing the severe employment situation and social environment, the employment of college students has become a very important issue. The big data analysis plays a positive role in entrepreneurship, which can not only improve the success rate of entrepreneurial path selection, but also accumulate a lot of innovative practical experience for college students. Based on the importance of big data technology for entrepreneurial path, this paper proposes an innovative model of accurate support path for college students' entrepreneurship (CSE), in which the K-means algorithm is applied to the analysis of entrepreneurial support path. Finally, this paper makes an experimental analysis on the model, and the results show that K-means can greatly reduce the computational complexity of the algorithm, and the precision, recall, and F parameter of the model can be effectively improved. The model is of great significance in improving the feasibility of college students' entrepreneurial support policies.

RESUMO

Before entrepreneurial behavior occurs, individual personality traits have a very important impact on the formation of entrepreneurial willingness. The purpose of this research is to explore the entrepreneurial intention, practice, and management path of college graduates in a green development environment. In this study, three dimensions of green entrepreneurial traits (risk propensity, ecological values, and social responsibility) and three dimensions of green entrepreneurial motivation (fame and fortune motive, spiritual motive and responsibility motive, and green entrepreneurial intention) are determined, and a questionnaire is compiled. Then, the questionnaire survey data of college graduates is collected, and a structural equation model is constructed. The influence of risk tendency, ecological values, and social responsibility on green entrepreneurship motivation is studied in turn, and the influence of fame and fortune motive, spiritual motive, and responsibility motive on green entrepreneurship willingness is explored. Finally, the mediating role of the three dimensions of green entrepreneurial motivation in the influence of green entrepreneurial traits on green entrepreneurial willingness is tested. The study finds that the average score of families with entrepreneurial experience was 4.0526. The average score of families without entrepreneurial experience was 3.6463, and the significance index was at the level of 0.001. The same results as previous scholars have appeared, that is, students with entrepreneurial family background have stronger (green) entrepreneurial willingness. Green entrepreneurship creates green value through green products or services, drives green consumption, leads green values, and contributes to the sustainable development of society and ecology.

RESUMO

AIM: This study explores how nurse entrepreneurs' ethical concerns influence their pursuit of entrepreneurial opportunities. BACKGROUND: Nurse entrepreneurs break norms to challenge the status quo in health care, and entrepreneurship in health care is associated with dubious morals. Thus, nurse entrepreneurs have struggled to gain support and acceptance for their work. METHOD: This qualitative study relies on in-depth, narrative interviews with 11 nurse entrepreneurs developing nine different ventures. The interviews are analysed using theoretical thematic analysis, leaning on the ethics of care theory. RESULTS: The analysis reveals two stages of ethical concerns: (1) ethical concerns leading to an entrepreneurial opportunity and (2) ethical concerns while engaged in an opportunity formation. CONCLUSION: This study shows that nurse entrepreneurs respond to health care issues in line with ethics of care and the ICN Code of Ethics. Nurse entrepreneurs are particularly concerned with doing no harm when developing their ideas and this fear could potentially deter nurses from acting entrepreneurially. 'The mantra of caring ethics' is a more suitable ethical guideline for (future) nurse entrepreneurs. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: This study has implications for the moral image of nurse entrepreneurs. This is important for nursing managers, as several of them are nurse entrepreneurs themselves or employ and lead nurses who wish to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities to improve health care.

RESUMO

The entrepreneurship of college students is an important issue related to the harmony and sustainable development of society as a whole. At present, the existing research in the industry pays less attention to the influence mechanism of non-cognitive ability and social support perception on college students' entrepreneurial intention. Using 450 survey data, this paper examines the relationship between non-cognitive ability and college students' entrepreneurial intention in terms of five dimensions: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability. At the same time, it focuses on the role of social environmental factors, namely, social support perception in the relationship between the non-cognitive ability and entrepreneurial intention, and explores the influence path. The results show that openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, and emotional stability have significant positive effects on entrepreneurial intention; agreeableness has no significant effect on entrepreneurial intention; openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability have significant positive effects on social support perception. The mediating effect of social support perception is as follows-it is part of the intermediary effect between openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and emotional stability on entrepreneurial intention; within the influence of agreeableness on entrepreneurial intention, it plays a complete intermediary role. This paper enriches the research results on the impact of non-cognitive ability on entrepreneurial intention, reveals the intermediary effect of social support perception on the impact of non-cognitive ability on college students' entrepreneurial intention, and broadens the field of vision for the study of college students' entrepreneurial intention. The research results can provide a decision-making reference for the promotion of the entrepreneurial intention of college students, alleviating the employment pressure of college graduates in China and promoting sustainable economic development.

RESUMO

Meta-analysis was used to investigate the impact of entrepreneurship education on college students' entrepreneurial intention. Based on the rules of meta-analysis, 389 empirical studies were selected from more than 1000 entrepreneurship education-related documents. The current study processed and analyzed data from 36 records (including 24 journal articles, 11 master's theses, and 1 doctoral thesis) with a total sample of 29,736 students. The results suggested that: (1) entrepreneurship education is positively associated with entrepreneurial intention; (2) national context differences among students have a significant and moderating effect on the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. As compared to other countries, Chinese college students' entrepreneurial intention is more strongly related with entrepreneurship education.

RESUMO

Physical exercise can benefit individuals' physical and mental health and also influence individuals' long-term behavioral choices. Doing exercise is particularly important given that physical exercise can impact individuals' cognitive abilities and positive emotional states, which may further impact entrepreneurial behavior. Therefore, understanding the relationship between exercise and entrepreneurial behavior is essential, because it can provide policy suggestions for popularizing athletic activities and boosting entrepreneurship. Consequently, the present study examined whether physical exercise could predict entrepreneurial behavior and the possible psychological mechanisms within this relationship. Based on the 2017 Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS2017), this study tested the hypotheses using the Probit and Tobit models. The results showed that individuals' physical exercise intensity and frequency positively affected their entrepreneurial behavior. In addition, five variables moderated the relationships between physical exercise and individual entrepreneurial behavior: urban-rural differences, education level, marital status, the existence of minor children, and age. Moreover, positive emotions and physical/mental health mediated the influence of physical exercise (exercise frequency and exercise intensity) on individual entrepreneurial behavior. Endogeneity explanations were ruled out by including instrumental variable, copula terms and adopting coarsened exact matching.

RESUMO

This paper examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic (measured by total cases and deaths per 100K people) on the early-stage entrepreneurship activity (measured by the Kauffman Early-Stage Entrepreneurship indicators) in the United States. The empirical analyses are based on the panel dataset of 51 States between 2020 and 2021. The findings show that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affects early-stage entrepreneurship activity. Further analyses indicate the positive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the startup's early survival rate. However, new entrepreneurs' rate and opportunity share are negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Implications for the post-COVID-19 era are also discussed.

RESUMO

Employee Innovative Behavior (EIB) in a stable environment is often based on the company's planned policy orientation and has higher innovation performance under the transactional leadership behavior characterized by task orientation. In an uncertain environment, transformational corporate leadership behaviors will stimulate EIB. The essence of entrepreneurship is innovation. Enterprises provide employees with spiritual support through entrepreneurship, which can generate more effective long-term incentives for employees. From the perspective of entrepreneurship, based on the Uncertainty-Identity Theory (UIT), through the analysis of 287 pairs of valid sample data from 7 companies, it is found that Environmental Uncertainty (EU) has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between Transformational Leadership (TL) and Psychological Empowerment (PE). PE positively promotes EIB. The indirect effect size of PE is 0.2221, 0.3495, and 0.4450 from low to high, respectively. It is inferred that the interaction between TL and EU can positively promote EIB through the mediating effect of PE. The research conclusions expand the boundary conditions of the relationship between TL and EIB and innovatively provide theoretical guidance for the management of EIB from the perspective of entrepreneurship in an uncertain environment.

RESUMO

The objective is to produce a critical-reflexivity analysis of nursing care, from the perspective of complexity thinking and social entrepreneurship. Theoretical-reflective study, supported by the framework of complexity thinking and social entrepreneurship. The main characteristics that lead and support nursing care are analyzed from a systemic-entrepreneurial perspective. A parallel is conceived between vertical care, design from a hierarchical structure and nursing care in the systemic-entrepreneurial perspective, which leads to singularity, originality, circularity, complementarity and interactivity. The centrality of nursing care is reaffirmed as a tangible social good or not. Theoretical reflection on nursing care as a systemic and entrepreneurial phenomenon raises a unique and multidimensional perception of the human being/user, health, the nursing work process, in order to achieve an increasingly agile, dynamic, circular, complementary and interdependent care.

RESUMO

In a dynamic healthcare landscape, graduates in healthcare enter a field that is filled with change and uncertainty. Educators, seeking to prepare students to meet the demands of this change from a clinical perspective, must prepare students for adapting to the healthcare market. Entrepreneurship education prepares the student to adapt to such changes. This paper describes an interactive practice-based approach to teach entrepreneurship incorporating practices of play, empathy, creativity, experimentation, and reflection. Focusing on active learning, students participated in games, competitions, and group work that convey the habits of entrepreneurs. To determine the relationship of these activities in a physical therapy course with students' mindset and intentions of becoming entrepreneurs, data were collected measuring the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and entrepreneurial intention (EI) of the students at the beginning and end of the course over three cohorts. EO consists of three behaviors: innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness. With 234 students completing the outcome measures at both timepoints, a significant increase in proactiveness was found, but no change was found in other behaviors of EO or EI. Lower scores were found in females with risk-taking and EI. Healthcare professions education programs should consider including entrepreneurship education in their curricula using a participative, practice-based approach.

RESUMO

Background: There is a significant gap in employment between people with and without disabilities, despite the importance of work in achieving their independence, autonomy, and integration into society. There are several reasons that cause this gap to exist, such as: people with disabilities feel less prepared, there is a stigma or discrimination to hire people with disabilities and the incompatibility of schedules due to medical issues, among others. That is why entrepreneurship emerges as a good option for the integration of people with disabilities in our society, improves their confidence and promotes some of the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. According to existing literature, people with disabilities have certain virtues such as resilience and motivation that favor entrepreneurship. Thus, the purpose of this study is to provide new insights into the variables that determine the entrepreneurial intention of people with disabilities. Methods: In order to respond to this objective, an online questionnaire was given to people with disabilities between the ages of 16 and 65 years, residing in diverse regions of Spain. To analyze the results, this study uses Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) in a sample of 235 people with disabilities in Spain using as a framework Krueger´s improved model, adding resilience as a new variable. Results: The results reflect the importance of resilience, the subjective norm, and perceived collective efficacy in the entrepreneurial processes of people with disabilities. Conclusions: This study contributes to the underdeveloped literature on entrepreneurship in people with disabilities; it provides insights that can have a practical effect on the reduction of the inequality gap between people with and without disabilities making recommendations to clinicians, vocational psychologists, and policymakers; also, this study would advance the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10.

RESUMO

In the context of implementing an innovation-oriented development strategy in China, innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities has increasingly become the focus of government and society. Entrepreneurship education is a complex ecosystem, which includes the collaboration among universities, government, and enterprises as well as the effective integration of educational resources inside and outside the university. How to establish a new type of government, universities, and enterprises to jointly cultivate innovative talents is a major issue that universities in China urgently need to solve at present. This study tries to provide some useful insights for innovation and entrepreneurship education in China's colleges and universities, starting from the development of the ecosystem and the cooperation model in the teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship education.

RESUMO

Entrepreneurship education activities in colleges and universities play an important role in improving students' innovation ability. Therefore, this paper has important practical value to evaluate the innovation and entrepreneurship ability of college students. At present, most studies use qualitative research methods, which is inefficient. Even if quantitative analysis is adopted, it is mostly linear analysis, which is inconsistent with the actual situation. In order to improve the application level of genetic algorithm to the innovation and entrepreneurship ability of universities based on BP neural network, this paper studies the evaluation model of innovation and entrepreneurship ability of universities. Based on the simple analysis of the current situation of university innovation and entrepreneurship ability evaluation and the application progress of BP neural network, combined with the actual situation of university innovation and entrepreneurship, this paper constructs the innovation and entrepreneurship evaluation index, uses BP neural network to build the evaluation model, and uses genetic algorithm to optimize and improve the shortcomings of BP neural network. Then, the experimental analysis and application design are carried out. The results show that the improved algorithm is basically consistent with the predicted value, small error, and fast convergence. When it is used in the evaluation of innovation and entrepreneurship ability, quantitative analysis results can be obtained, which provides a certain reference for the development of enterprises.
