RESUMO

To meet today's challenges and prepare for the future, our health system's "My Health 2022" strategic plan recommends development of prevention and health promotion and better access to quality care. This requires development of co-ordinated exercise between professionals and support structures and further development of digital and e-health.

RESUMO

What is the common thread to ensure that the caregiver-patient relationship plays an integral role in healthcare facilities? The origins date to 1973, with the evolution of the nursing programme. The patient moves from the object stage to the subject stage. To date, he is considered a full "person" in all aspects, psychic, physical, cultural and social.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To identify work process-related causes associated with nursing errors reported in newspapers. METHOD: This was a documentary and qualitative study based on the work process theory and hermeneutic analysis that examined 112 news articles published between 2012 and 2016 in 21 high-circulation Brazilian newspapers, organized and codified using Atlas.ti software. RESULTS: The causes associated with the reported errors were associated with workforce (lack of professionals and training, turnover, work overload, lack of information, recklessness, negligence, and distraction); work instruments (similar labels or packages, storage, lack of product identification and information, and medical prescriptions); and the object of nursing work (overcrowding and specific characteristics of patient). CONCLUSION: Analysis of the possible causes of reported errors identified the negative outcomes of nursing work, while also identifying elements of the work process that influenced these results. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding these errors so they can be avoided and of reviewing nursing work conditions to guarantee quality and safety of care.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To understand the life experiences that favor the plenitude and transcendence of the elderly being. METHOD: Qualitative study of hermeneutical phenomenological approach. It was conducted from January 2014 to March 2017 in two social groups for seniors. Selection of participants was by intentional sampling with information saturation. Characteristics of participants: men or women aged 60 years and over. Data collection through a phenomenological interview. Study in compliance with the General Law of Health, Subject of Health Research and the Declaration of Helsinki. Analysis through the Heidegger's hermeneutic circle: Pre-understanding, understanding and interpretation. RESULTS: Units of meaning arose. Ontologically, seniors are revealed in their historicity and temporality, emphasize fear and anguish in their daily life, and fall into a feeling of nothing with the need to be authentic that is achieved through care. This understanding of the being is transcendence, and its manifestation is enlightenment. CONCLUSION: Transcendence is favored by care in the life cycle. Nursing as a science of care can promote actions that facilitate the reach of the encounter of seniors at different stages of their lives.

RESUMO

Shared vision has been used by the nursing community for over 20 years, but this concept and its language are not presented consistently. At its most basic level, shared vision consists of identifying what a group wants to create. The main objective of this study is to provide a concept analysis of shared vision from an evolutionary nursing perspective within health care organizations. Forty-eight nursing journal articles from 1989 to 2016 were included in the analysis. The concept is presented within the nursing literature as a process or an outcome relying on top-down or bottom-up approaches to defining the future of care. Nurses are central and active in visioning while patients and families are passive recipients. Leaders have an important role to play in shared vision.

RESUMO

Nursing professional development practitioners led the evaluation of the graphic representation of a health system's professional practice model (PPM) based on evolving expectations and key constructs of a PPM. The aim was to capture direct care nurse perceptions to guide adoption of a revised graphical depiction of the PPM. The specific benefit for nursing professional development practitioners is the ongoing relatability of the PPM to nursing for sustainability of clinical excellence.

RESUMO

In order for nursing work not to become mechanistic, the team needs to develop a critical eye to its knowledge, its know-how and its know-to-be. The training of nursing professionals from a critical and reflective perspective motivated this study, which was based on the theoretical reference and the experience of the authors with use of the analytical methodology of the Groupe Entraînement de Analyze de Situations Éducatives (Training Group to Analyze Educational Situations) professional practice. This methodology aims to analyze professional situations in a group with the presence of a facilitator. The objective is to analyze the contributions of the Groupe Entraînement de Analyze de Situations Éducatives to train reflective professionals in nursing. The steps, rules of operation and the role of the participants are explained in order to promote a safe environment for all, enabling group members to develop hypotheses to understand the situation and develop analysis and reflection skills. It is concluded that this methodology offers the opportunity to open a space for reflective thinking, respecting the different roles and times intended for the speech of each participant, building their professional identity.
