ABSTRACT

Professional observers are independent persons who have in-depth knowledge of both children's normal behaviour and development and of ADHD, and who take a multidisciplinary approach to ADHD in their daily work. The observation must be geared to the specific problem with the child in question

ABSTRACT

The Health Situation Analysis (HSA), attempts to characterize, measure, and explain the health-disease profile and trends of the Dominican population, including illnesses, injuries and other health problems and their determinant factors, whether they are the responsibility of the health sector or of other sectors. It also facilitates the identification of needs and priorities in health, as well as the identification of interventions and appropriate programs and the evaluation of its impact on health. The situation analysis seeks to: define existing organization and management of health services and the health care delivery system and identify constraints which adversely impact health care delivery in the country. The main purpose of the HSA is primarily to inform the preparation of the 10-year National Strategic Plan for Health 2010- 2019.

ABSTRACT

[Introduction] The process of collecting and developing the data required for the production of Evaluation 2002 for Dominica was carried out by a PAHO representative in conjunction with the General Manager and the Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation. Assistance was given by additional members of the Corporation and other Government departments. The overall management of solid waste is functionally controlled by the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation. Although theoretically a semi-autonomous entity within the local Government structure, the Corporation is actually closely allied to the Ministry of Health. This situation results from the recent transfer of senior personnel from the Environmental Health Unit to DWSMC. The report makes it clear that the ratings are not due to incompetence or lack of effort on the part of the personnel involved but rather from a lack of adequate funding and the associated lack of qualified personnel at the upper management levels of the Corporation. As noted, this situation now shows signs of improvement and there is an air of optimism within the Corporation as to the future prospects of DWSMC.
