BACKGROUND: Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people worldwide and remains a major public health concern. Research indicates that negative social contexts involving familial and peer relationships, have far-reaching influences on levels of suicidal behaviours in later life. Previous systematic reviews have focused on evaluating associations between negative life events such as abuse and bullying in childhood and subsequent self-harm or suicidality. However, the association between adolescent experiences of humiliation and shame, and subsequent self-harm or suicidal behaviour among children and young adults has not been well examined. As such, this systematic review is conducted to examine the prevalence and association between humiliation and shame and self-harm, suicidal ideation, and death by suicide among adolescents and young adults. METHODS: A systematic literature search in extant electronic databases including; MEDLINE, Web of Science Core Collection, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Embase will be conducted to identify potential studies. Google Scholar, and the reference list of the retrieved articles and/or previous systematic reviews in this area, will also be scanned to identify further potential studies. ProQuest will be searched to identify relevant studies available within grey literature. There are no restrictions on the date of publications. Based on our initial review, the following terms were identified: Population: Adolescent (MESH), young adult (MESH), teen, teenage. Exposure: Humiliation, degradation, shame (MESH) or embarrassment (MESH), harassment victimisation, abasement. Outcome: Self-injurious behaviour (MESH), suicide (MESH), suicide attempted (MESH), suicide completed (MESH), self-harm, intentional self-injury, deliberate self-harm, overdose, deliberate self-poisoning, non-suicidal self-injury, self-mutilation, suicidal thought, suicidal ideation, suicidal intent, suicide. At least one term from each category will be used for conducting the literature search. All original quantitative studies published in the English language which examined the prevalence or association between humiliation or shame and self-harm and/or suicidal ideation and/or completed suicide will be included. The studies will be assessed for methodological quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tools. Narrative synthesis will be performed for all of the studies. If the studies are sufficiently homogenous, the results will be pooled for a meta-analysis. This systematic review protocol followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocol (PRISMA-P) guidelines. The protocol has been registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) [CRD42022289843]. DISCUSSION: This is the first review to synthesise evidence on the prevalence of, and associations between the experiences of humiliation and shame and subsequent self-harm and/or suicidal behaviours among adolescents and young adults. As there is growing evidence on increased self-harm among this age group, it is important to identify population-specific risk factors for self-harm and suicidality which will have significance in formulating tailored and effective treatment and therapeutic services for adolescents and young adults.

Objetivo: apreender as percepções de educadoras sobre o Papanicolau associadas às questões de corpo. Método: qualitativo, exploratório e descritivo realizado com 18 educadoras de uma escola pública em Petrolina-PE, após aprovação pelo Comitê de Ética, parecer nº 4.048.369. Empregou-se o recurso gráfico, juntamente, à entrevista semi-estruturada, tratados pela análise semiológica de imagem e pela análise temática de conteúdo. Resultados: as educadoras conhecem a importância do exame, mas apresentaram superficialidade sobre o objetivo e materiais utilizados, além de sentimentos negativos como constrangimento, dor, desconforto, dentre outros. Logo, o profissional de saúde precisa considerar as especificidades femininas para a escolha do material, assim como, valorizar o que cada corpo pode sentir e falar, independente das queixas. Conclusão: assim, sob uma perspectiva reducionista percebe-se que um corpo que fala é silenciado pelas dimensões de descuido e não de cuidado em saúde


Objective: to apprehend the perceptions of educators about Pap smears associated with body issues. Method: qualitative, exploratory and descriptive carried out with 18 educators from a public school in Petrolina-PE, after approval by the Ethics Committee, opinion nº 4.048.369. The graphic resource was used, together with the semi-structured interview, treated by the semiological image analysis and the thematic content analysis. Results: the educators know the importance of the exam, but they were superficial about the purpose and materials used, in addition to negative feelings such as embarrassment, pain, discomfort, among others. Therefore, the health professional needs to consider women's specificities when choosing the material, as well as valuing what each body can feel and say, regardless of the complaints. Conclusion: thus, from a reductionist perspective, it is perceived that a speaking body is silenced by the dimensions of carelessness and not health care


Objetivo: comprender las percepciones de los educadores sobre las pruebas de Papanicolaou asociadas a problemas corporales. Se utilizó el recurso gráfico, junto con la entrevista semiestructurada, tratado por el análisis de imagen semiológico y el análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: los educadores conocen la importancia del examen, pero fueron superficiales sobre el propósito y los materiales utilizados, además de sentimientos negativos como vergüenza, dolor, malestar, entre otros. Por tanto, el profesional de la salud debe tener en cuenta las especificidades de las mujeres a la hora de elegir el material, así como valorar lo que cada cuerpo puede sentir y decir, independientemente de las quejas. Conclusión: así, desde una perspectiva reduccionista, se percibe que un cuerpo hablante es silenciado por las dimensiones del descuido y no del cuidado de la salud

AIM: Sexual health needs are one of the holistic care needs. Nurses need to help individuals identify and meet these needs. However, sometimes their perception of sexuality can affect their attitudes towards care. The aim of this study determine the effect of sexual self-schema and sexual embarrassment on attitudes and beliefs related to sexual health in nursing students. BACKGROUND: The sexual self-schema, which emphasizes the cognitive aspect of sexuality, is defined as cognitive generalizations that a person does for her/his own sexuality. Sexual self-schemas are known to affect individuals' feelings, beliefs and attitudes towards sexuality. Those with a positive sexual self-schema experience less embarrassment and more positive attitudes towards sexuality. Those with a negative sexual self-schema experience more sexual embarrassment. Those who experience sexual embarrassment have an avoidance of sexual interaction and talking about sexual issues. Nurses and student nurses have embarrassed to talk about sexuality with their patients. It is thought that sexual attitudes and beliefs are effective on this situation. DESIGN: This study was conducted in a cross-sectional descriptive type. Structural equality model was established to test the hypotheses of the research. In the model, the direct effects of the sexual self-schema and the sexual embarrassment on sexual attitudes and beliefs were examined. In addition, the mediating effect of sexual embarrassment between sexual schemas and sexual attitudes and beliefs is also included in the model. METHODS: The study population was the students who attended to and conducted clinical practice at the second, third and fourth study year at a Faculty of Health Sciences. For data collection, the Introductory Information Form which questioned socio-demographic characteristics of individuals, Sexual Self-Schema Scale (SSS), Sexual Embarrassment Scale (SES), and Sexual Attitudes and Beliefs Survey for Sexual Health (SABS) were used. The data were collected online with voluntary participation. RESULTS: Students' average scale scores were: SSS: 121.57 ± 21.23, SES: 12.16 ± 5.74 and SABS: 35.62 ± 7.53. It was also found that sexual self-schemas and sexual embarrassment effected sexual attitudes and beliefs. CONCLUSION: It could be recommended that these results be tested with different studies, that the course content on sexual issues be reviewed be addressed in a broader context.

Purpose Adults who stutter (AWS) have increased risk of comorbid social anxiety about speaking in social contexts. AWS also report experiencing embarrassment in different social situations; however, research has rarely been conducted on embarrassment and its relationship to social anxiety in AWS. Method AWS (N = 200) reported their level of embarrassment on four 10-point Likert items when speaking in four situational contexts: at home, to an individual important to them, in social groups, and at work. Participants were also assessed for sociodemographic, stuttering, and anxiety variables. Construct validity for the four embarrassment items was examined, the extent of embarrassment established in the four contexts as a function of age and sex, and the relationship of embarrassment to social anxiety evaluated. Results Evidence of acceptable construct validity and reliability is presented for the four embarrassment Likert items. Sixty-five percent of the sample experienced high levels of embarrassment when speaking in groups or at work, while 35.5% experienced high levels when speaking at home or to an individual important to them. Participants were significantly more embarrassed (p < .01) when speaking at work or when socializing in groups. Embarrassment was lowest when speaking in the home. Younger females were significantly more embarrassed when speaking at work or when socializing in groups. Those with high embarrassment scores on all four items were more likely to have elevated social anxiety scores (p < .001). Conclusion These preliminary results suggest that the assessment of situational embarrassment could be an important clinical measure that may help improve stuttering treatment outcomes that also target social anxiety.

PURPOSE: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with dyspnea, decreased physical activity, and reduced quality-of-life. While pulmonary rehabilitation is helpful, maintenance of physical activity afterwards is problematic. We sought to explore qualitatively the multi-dimensional, biopsychosocial experience of patients with COPD who participated in Tai Chi (TC) vs. group walking to facilitate physical activity after pulmonary rehabilitation). METHODS: We analyzed semi-structured qualitative exit interviews (N = 81) from a randomized controlled trial comparing 6-months TC with a time-matched group walking intervention and usual care control (UC). Transcripts were reviewed by at least 2 independent reviewers utilizing a social constructivist framework and theoretical sampling approach. An in-depth analysis of an exemplar subset was performed to thematic saturation and captured emergent themes within and between groups. RESULTS: Focused analysis was conducted on 54 transcripts (N = 21 TC, N = 16 Walking, N = 17 UC). Participants were characterized by mean age 68.5 (±8.3) years, GOLD Stage = 3.0 (IQR 2.0-3.0), baseline FEV1 percent predicted 48.8% (±16.4), and 48.2% female. We identified predominant themes of breathlessness, and associated fear and embarrassment that limited physical activity across all groups. In both TC and walking, participants reported improvements in energy and endurance. Those in TC additionally shared improvements in breathing, mobility, and capacity for daily activities facilitated by body and breath awareness, emotional control and regulation of breathing, and an adaptive reframing of breathlessness. CONCLUSION: TC promoted physical and mental wellbeing by diminishing fear and embarrassment associated with breathlessness. Results highlight the multimodal characteristics of TC that may facilitate continued physical activity and improvement in quality of life.

Sabemos que o ato de educar é uma prática social discursiva, imergindo a criança na linguagem e a tornando capaz de fazer laço social. Entretanto, o ensino a distância (EAD) impôs-se como realidade atual. Como consequência, as restrições sociais e esse novo modo de estar na escola impactaram a saúde mental de alunos, de pais e de professores, e o psicólogo escolar foi convidado a ajudar na construção de formas possíveis de atravessamento do mal-estar. Este artigo, portanto, propõe reflexões acerca do meu trabalho como psicóloga escolar de orientação psicanalítica. Atuando em uma escola particular, durante uma pandemia que afastou os alunos da escola, defendo que a escola seja um 'lugar de vida' (Kupfer, 2010), constituindo-se como palco de construção de sentidos para experiências prazerosas e desafiadoras.


Sabemos que el acto de educar es una práctica social discursiva, que sumerge el niño en el lenguaje y lo hace capaz de crear un vínculo social. Sin embargo, la educación a distancia (EAD) se ha convertido en una realidad actual. Como consecuencia, las restricciones sociales y esta nueva forma de estar en la escuela impactaron la salud mental de alumnos, padres y profesores y el psicólogo educativo fue invitado a ayudar en la construcción de posibles vías de traspaso del malestar. Este artículo, por lo tanto, propone reflexiones sobre mi trabajo como psicólogo de orientación psicoanalítica en una escuela. Actuando en una institución privada, durante una pandemia que sacó a los estudiantes de la escuela, defiendo que la escuela es un 'lugar de vida' (Kupfer, 2010), constituyéndose como un escenario para la construcción de significados para experiencias placenteras y desafiantes.


It is already known that the act of educating is a social discursive practice, immersing the child in language and making them capable of stablishing social bonds. However, distance learning has become an imposed reality. As a consequence, social restrictions and this new way of being at school impacted the mental health of students, parents and teachers and the school psychologist was invited to support the construction of possible ways of dealing with hardship. This article, therefore, proposes reflections on my work as a school psychologist of psychoanalytical approach. Acting in a private school, during a pandemic that removed students from school, I claim that the school is a 'life place' (Kupfer, 2010), a stage where subjects can construct meanings for pleasant and challenging experiences.


On sait que l'acte d'éduquer est une pratique discursive sociale que introduit l'enfant dans le langage et le rend capable de faire un lien social. Néanmoins l'enseignement à distance est devenu une réalité nécessaire. En conséquence les restrictions sociales et une nouvelle façon d'être à l'école(EAD) ont eu un impact sur la santé mentale des élèves, des parents et des enseignants et le psychologue scolaire a été invité dans la pandémie à aider le sujet à construire des voies possibles pour traverser le malaise. Cet article propose des réflexions sur mon travail comme psychologue scolaire d'orientation psychanalytique dans une école privée de Rio de Janeiro lors d'une pandémie qui a éloigné des milliers d'élèves de l'école. Je soutiens avec Kupfer (2010) que l'école est un «lieu de vie¼ car elle constitue une étape pour la construction de sens d'expériences agréables et désagréables.

Purpose: This descriptive qualitative study explored young males' perceptions of food skills in 3 domains: food selection and planning, food preparation, and food safety and storage.Methods: Semi-structured interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analyzed using the constant comparative method.Results: Forty-four young men (aged 17-35) reported varying levels of food skills, from little/no confidence to very confident and skilled. Most participants learned food skills from their mothers. Greater involvement in food selection and planning at a young age appeared to be related to parental influence and encouragement, exposure to food skills at school, and interest in food-related activities, which, in turn, provided a solid foundation for being confident cooks as young adults. Most notable was the lack of knowledge about, or confidence in, food safety and storage. Young men with low self-perceived food skills were deeply embarrassed about this deficiency in front of peers who had higher levels of confidence and skills.Conclusions: Future interventions or curricula should emphasize food safety and storage. This research also illustrates the importance of the home environment in teaching food skills to youth and ensuring that food skills are taught well before young adults begin living independently.

PURPOSE: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) report higher depressive symptoms and anxiety compared to healthy controls, with disease severity and abdominal pain being important factors. In the current study, building on what young people had told us in our previous work, we examined whether embarrassment of the condition, social self-efficacy, and friendship quality mediated the relationship between abdominal pain and disease severity, and mental health/well-being. We also included loneliness as a component of well-being. METHODS: Data on depression, anxiety, loneliness, friendship quality, social self-efficacy, and disease embarrassment were collected from 130 AYA with IBD ages 14-25 years; data on disease severity and abdominal pain were taken from their medical records. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to test the relationships between the variables. RESULTS: Using SEM, we established that higher IBD disease activity negatively impacted how AYA felt about their friendships and how embarrassed they were about their condition; embarrassment then influenced reports of mental health, including loneliness. Abdominal pain, disease onset, and social self-efficacy directly predicted internalising problems. CONCLUSION: In this sample of 14-25-year-old patients with IBD, specifics about the disease (severity and pain) predicted poorer mental health, suggesting discussion of mental health should be part of the clinical dialogue between patient and consultant. In addition, embarrassment about their condition increased depression, anxiety, and loneliness, mediating the relationship between disease severity and well-being. Thus, it is important to consider how perceived stigma affects those with chronic illness, and those issues should be explored in clinic.

Resumo As séries televisivas têm ocupado cada vez mais espaço na cultura, de forma que seus conteúdos incidem significativamente nas subjetividades. Este estudo aborda as séries dramáticas desta nova era da televisão, iniciada há aproximadamente duas décadas. Atenta-se para certo mal-estar evocado por essas obras, até então incomum na programação televisiva. Toma-se a série Breaking Bad como objeto de análise delimitado e utiliza-se como referencial a pesquisa psicanalítica, que olha para o cinema enquanto linguagem singular. Neste artigo são abordados os resultados obtidos a partir da articulação da série analisada ao conceito freudiano de mal-estar na cultura. Dessas reflexões, destaca-se a dimensão espacial, que é explorada em profusão pela obra audiovisual por meio de recursos formais e que aparece de forma propícia a evocar a questão do mal-estar.


Résumé Les séries télévisées occupent de plus en plus d'espace dans la culture et leurs contenus ont influencés considérablement les subjectivités. Cette étude porte sur les séries dramatiques de cette nouvelle ère de la télévision, qui a débuté il y a environ deux décennies. On souligne le malaise suscité par ces œuvres, jusqu'alors rares dans la programmation télévisuelle. Pour délimiter l'objet de l'analyse, nous prenons l'un d'entre eux - Breaking Bad -, et utilise la recherche psychanalytique, qui considère le cinéma comme une langage singulière, en tant que référence. Cet article traite des résultats obtenus à partir de l'articulation de la série analysé au concept Freudien de malaise dans la culture. De ces réflexions, la dimension spatiale est mise en évidence, exploitée à profusion par l'œuvre à travers des ressources formelles y présent et apparaît de manière propice pour évoquer la question du malaise.


Resumen Las series televisivas vienen ocupando cada vez más espacio en la cultura y sus contenidos inciden de modo significativo en las subjetividades. Este estudio trata las series dramáticas de esta nueva era de la televisión, que se inicia hace aproximadamente dos décadas. Se atenta para cierto malestar evocado por esas obras, hasta entonces inusual en la programación televisiva. Para delimitar el objeto de análisis se toma Breaking Bad; y se utiliza como referencial la investigación psicoanalítica que piensa el cine desde un lenguaje singular. En este artículo se abordan los resultados obtenidos a partir de la articulación al concepto freudiano de malestar en la cultura. De estas reflexiones, se destaca la dimensión espacial, que es explotada en profusión por medio de recursos formales presentes en la obra y que aparece de forma propicia al evocar la cuestión del malestar.


Abstract The role played by television series within culture have become increasingly prominent over the past two decades, with their contents significantly influencing subjectivities. This study addresses dramatic series of this new television era based on the discontents arose from these works - hitherto uncommon in television programming. For that, the show Breaking Bad was analyzed under the psychoanalytic interpretation that approaches the cinema as a singular language, articulating the TV show with the Freudian concept of Malaise in culture. Of these reflections, the audiovisual work intensively exploits the spatial dimension through formal resources, figuring in a way to evoke the issue of malaise.

Objetivo: Investigar as naturezas do sofrimento psicológico ocasionado por problemas bucais. Métodos: Esta pesquisa adotou uma abordagem qualitativa e caráter exploratório-descritivo, utilizando-se da entrevista semiestruturada e da observação assistemática como instrumentos de coleta de dados. Para a análise dos dados da pesquisa foi utilizada a análise do conteúdo e a amostra da pesquisa foi de 25 participantes, entre homens e mulheres, que buscaram atendimento odontológico em uma clínica de Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil nos meses de maio e junho de 2020. Resultados: todos os participantes foram afetados psiquicamente pela existência de problemas bucais, o que gerou problemas de autoestima e autoimagem. Com o início do tratamento, os participantes relataram uma melhora na autoestima, não minimizando, contudo, outros tipos de sentimentos provenientes do problema bucal, como desconforto, dores e bullying. Conclusão: Problemas bucais podem gerar sofrimento psicológico aos pacientes, prejudicando sua autoimagem, acarretando, muitas das vezes, no isolamento e dificuldade em relacionar-se com outras pessoas. Portanto, um sorriso harmonioso é importante não somente por questões estéticas, mas para que o indivíduo se sinta bem consigo mesmo.

Methods: This research adopted a qualitative approach and exploratory-descriptive design, employing, as data collection tools, a semi-structured interview and an unsystematic observation. For the research's data analysis, content analysis was used, and the research sample featured 25 participants, between men and women, who sought out dental care in a Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil dental clinic between May and June 2020. Results: All the participants were affected psychologically by the existence of oral problems, which led to self-esteem and self-image problems. With the start of treatment, the participants reported an improvement in self-esteem and self-image, not minimizing, however, other types of feelings that come with oral problems, like discomfort, pain, and bullying. Conclusion: Oral problems can cause psychological pain to the patients, harming their self-esteem and self-image, often leading to isolation and trouble interacting with other people. Therefore, a harmonious smile is important not only for esthetic reasons, but also for individuals to feel good about themselves.

Objetivo: Compreender os sentidos produzidos por enfermeiros (as) sobre o acolhimento de pessoas travestis e transexuais na atenção básica. Método: Estudo qualitativo, realizado com quatro enfermeiros (as) que atuam em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde na Zona Sul Oeste de Manaus. Os dados foram coletados de maio a junho de 2016. Utilizou-se estudos socioantropológicos para a análise e discussão dos dados e teve como referencial metodológico a pesquisa de campo. Os dados foram analisados por meio da técnica de análise Construtivo-interpretativa. Resultados: Os sentidos produzidos por enfermeiros (as) sobre o acolhimento às pessoas travestis e transexuais na atenção básica se alicerçam em questões como constrangimento, neutralidade e desconhecimento frente às questões de gênero para além do binarismo de gênero. Conclusão: Existe uma formação dominante de base biomédica, e o cuidado de enfermagem não dá conta de aspectos socioculturais e políticos das pessoas, dos seus corpos e da sua saúde


Objective: To understand the senses produced by nurses on the reception of transvestite and transsexual people in primary care. Method: A qualitative study was carried out with four nurses who work in a Basic Health Unit in the South Western Zone of Manaus. The data were collected from May to June 2016. Socio-anthropological studies were used to analyze and discuss the data and had the field research as a methodological reference. The data were analyzed using the constructive-interpretative analysis technique. Results: The senses produced by nurses about the reception of transvestites and transsexuals in basic care are based on issues such as constraint, neutrality and lack of knowledge about gender issues beyond gender binarism. Conclusion: There is a dominant biomedical training, and nursing care does not account for the sociocultural and political aspects of people, their bodies and their health

Método: Estudio cualitativo, realizado con cuatro enfermeros (as) que actúan en una Unidad Básica de Salud en la Zona Sur Oeste de Manaus. Los datos fueron recolectados de mayo a junio de 2016. Se utilizaron estudios socioantropológicos para el análisis y discusión de los datos y tuvo como referencial metodológico la investigación de campo. Los datos fueron analizados por medio de la técnica de análisis constructivo-interpretativa. Resultados: Los sentidos producidos por enfermeros (as) sobre la acogida a las personas travestis y transexuales en la atención básica se basan en cuestiones como constreñimiento, neutralidad y desconocimiento frente a las cuestiones de género más allá del binarismo de género. Conclusión: Existe una formación dominante de base biomédica, y el cuidado de enfermería no da cuenta de aspectos socioculturales y políticos de las personas, de sus cuerpos y de su salud

RESUMO

Resumo Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as novas formas de mal-estar que surgem na contemporaneidade, bem como pensar o papel atualmente exercido pelas empresas na constituição das subjetividades. Utilizamos como eixo teórico principal as contribuições da filosofia e da psicologia existencial, articulando-as aos estudos da psicossociologia. As nossas conclusões são no sentido de que a tematização da nossa condição existencial de sermos-para-a-morte coloca em questão o projeto de um sujeito sem limites e onipotente, que impera nos modos de subjetivação dominantes da sociedade capitalista. Ao mesmo tempo, nos permite uma apropriação mais ampla da nossa existência, abrindo um espaço para a experiência da autenticidade.


Abstract This article aims to analyse the new ways of dicontents that appear in the contemporaneousness, besides to think the role fullfilled nowdays by the enterprises in the constitution of subjectivities. We used as a main theoretical base the contributions of existential philosophy and existential psychology, that are related to the psychosociology studies. Our conclusions are that the thematization of our existential condition of being-for-death calls into question the project of a subject without limits and omnipotent, which prevails in the dominant subjectivation modes of capitalist society. At the same time, it allows for a broader appropriation of our existence, opening a space for the experience of authenticity.

Este trabalho, baseado em uma construção de caso, lança um olhar orientado pela psicanálise sobre o Ensino Fundamental na França na França, de uma disciplina nova quanto à forma, mas historicamente enraizada na Escola francesa: o Ensino Moral e Cívico. A natureza dos saberes envolvidos parece pôr certos professores diante de um dilema subjetivo entre prescrição institucional e desejo de ensinar, entre ato e inibição. Coloca-se aqui a questão das causas subjetivas que constrangem um professor para o exercício do Ensino Moral e Cívico. A partir de uma análise interpretativa das falas de uma professora é possivel mostrar que esta disciplina pode confrontar o sujeito a algo difícil ou mesmo impossível de suportar, em grande parte porque o obriga a passar por um ato de educação que o revela aos outros e a si mesmo. O Ensino Moral e Cívico deve então ser lido como "uma relação com o enfrentamento" (Brossais & Jourdan, 2011), um conceito que permite explicitar uma relação particular com o conhecimento.


Esta investigación, basada en una construcción de casos, plantea una orientación por el psicoanálisis a la enseñanza, en primer grado en Francia, una nueva disciplina en su forma pero anclanda históricamente en la Escuela francesa: La educación moral y cívica (EMC). La naturaleza de los conocimientos involucrados parece provocar un dilema subjetivo que coloca a los profesores de escuelas entre la prescripcion instuticional y el deseo de enseñar, entre acto y inhibición. Por lo tanto, se trata de preguntarse que causas subjetivas provocan verguenza para un professor de escuela por el acto educativo en la educacion moral y civica. El analisis interpretativo de las palabras de un profesor de escuelas muestra que esta enseñanza parece colocar al sujeto frente a algo que es dificil o incluso imposible a soportar en parte porque lo obliga a pasar por un acto educativo que revela a otros y a si mismo. El EMC deberia leerse entonces como una "relacion a prueba" (Brossais & Jourdan, 2011), concepto que permite dar cuenta de una relacion al conocimiento particular.


This research, based on a construction of cases, has a look directed by psychoanalysis on the teaching, for the 1st degree in France, of a formally new discipline but historically anchored in the French School: moral and civic education. It seems the nature of the involved knowledges cause a subjective dilemma for the primary school teachers between institutional prescription and desire to teach, between act and inhibition. Therefore, it is a question of wondering what subjective causes embarrass a school teacher going through the educational act in moral and civic education. The interpretive analysis of a school teacher words shows that this teaching seems to place the subject face something that is difficult or even impossible to bear partly because it forces him/her to go through an act of education that reveals to others and to him/herself. Moral and civic education should then be read as a "relation to the test" (Brossais & Jourdan, 2011), a concept making it possible to account for a particular relation to knowledge.


Cette recherche, basée sur une construction de cas, pose un regard orienté par la psychanalyse sur l'enseignement, dans le 1er degré en France, d'une discipline nouvelle dans sa forme mais historiquement ancrée dans l'École française : l'enseignement moral et civique. La nature des savoirs mis en jeu semble provoquer un dilemme subjectif qui place des professeurs des écoles entre prescription institutionnelle et désir d'enseigner, entre acte et inhibition. Dès lors, il s'agit de se demander quelles causes subjectives provoquent un embarras pour un professeur des écoles d'en passer par l'acte éducatif en enseignement moral et civique. L'analyse interprétative de paroles d'une professeure des écoles montre que cet enseignement semble placer le sujet face à quelque chose de lui difficile voire impossible à supporter en partie parce que cela l'oblige à en passer par un acte d'éducation qui le dévoile aux autres et à lui-même. L'EMC serait alors à lire en tant que « rapport à l'épreuve ¼ (Brossais & Jourdan, 2011), concept permettant de rendre compte d'un rapport au savoir particulier.

BACKGROUND: Colonoscopy is considered a safe and effective tool for detecting colorectal cancer. Nevertheless, the proportion of patients are hesitating to receive colonoscopy. Smartphone education may decrease the barrier of colonoscopy. The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of smartphone education in colonoscopy. METHODS: We conducted a prospective, double-blinded, randomized, controlled study to examine the effectiveness of smartphone education on embarrassment, bowel preparation, and satisfaction in colonoscopy. The patients' embarrassment was measured by the colonoscopy embarrassment scale. The quality of the bowel preparation was evaluated by gastroenterologists according to the Aronchik Scale. The satisfaction of colonoscopy care was assessed by a satisfaction scale developed by the authors. RESULTS: A total of 150 patients were analyzed in the smartphone education and control groups (n = 75 in each group). The smartphone education group reported fewer embarrassment (B = -2.78, P = .02) than those of the control group, the patients who were older (B = .15, P = .001) and who were male (B = 2.91, P = .003) showed higher embarrassment. Additionally, smartphone education group were likely to have better colon preparation (odds ratio = 2.46, 95% confidence interval: 1.20-5.02) than that of the control group. Smartphone education also improved the satisfaction with care (ß = 4.60, P < .001), and above normal body mass index decreased the satisfaction with care (ß = -0.19, P < .05). CONCLUSION: Smartphone education improves embarrassment, bowel preparation, and satisfaction with care in patients receiving colonoscopy.

INTRODUCTION: Despite the frequency of sexual issues during cancer care, the majority of nurses do not bring up the topic with their patients. The purpose of this study is to encourage nurses in oncology and hematology units on how to better participate in the assessment of the well-being of cancer patients as part of their sexual health. METHODS: Using an interview guide, we conducted a qualitative study by interviewing twenty nurses working in the Oncology and Hematology Units of four Belgian hospitals. The twenty semi-structured interviews were transcribed, and we performed a content analysis of the data collected. RESULTS: Sexuality is still a taboo topic, sexual dysfunction is undervalued, nurses lack knowledge on the topic which create many barriers to sexual health assessment. Obstacles are intrinsic or extrinsic towards nurses: prejudices, embarrassment, lack of evaluation tools, lack of support, resources, the environment is not always adequate. This is linked to the lack of knowledge of side effects of treatments, the lack of know-how, well-being and reflexivity. The assessment of sexual health is however part of their role. Nurses would like to have tools and better education to address the various shortcoming on how to address sexual health. CONCLUSION: Nurses must acknowledge the existence of sexual health issues in cancer patients by rectifying their perceptions of sexuality, improving their knowledge and management of care, by addressing the issue of sexual health early enough.
