With the advent of the information age, people can establish good communication through Internet technology. Mechanical translation has become a key means to solve people's communication problems. However, there are still obstacles to communication between different languages. In order to solve this problem, this paper uses existing neural network technology to the English-Chinese bidirectional machine translation model in the field of marine science and technology. Based on deep learning technology, we collect Chinese and English abstracts and partial full texts of Chinese and English papers with marine science and technology as the key words and build a professional corpus in English and Chinese about marine science and technology. In the Chinese-English bidirectional translation model, the local weight sharing is introduced into the Chinese encoder and the English encoder, and the output of the Chinese encoder sublayer and the English encoder sublayer is fused as the output of the respective encoders, and the performance of the translation model is evaluated using the BLEU parameters. Through the training of the translation model, compared with the transformer model, the BLEU value of the model with local weight sharing and encoder sublayer fusion output is improved by 1.6 and 3.8 in the Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation directions, respectively. The PPL values in the Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation directions decreased by 18.72% and 14.62%, respectively. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the language translation model. Experiments show that the research on machine language adaptive technology based on deep learning can more smoothly realize the two-way translation of literature in the field of marine science and technology. Compared with traditional mechanical translation, this paper proposes a translation model based on the deep neural algorithm, which improves the effect of model training by constructing a Chinese-English corpus with the theme of marine science and technology.

Research literature and community narratives both emphasize the importance of self-determination in the lives of deaf youth. This paper describes the development, initial validation, and potential applications of a translated measure of self-determination for deaf youth, the SDI:SR ASL Translation (SDI:SR ASL). A sample of 3,309 young people who completed the SDI:SR, of whom 392 were deaf, was used in this validation study. Results provide preliminary support for the use of SDI:SR ASL with deaf youth. Findings also indicate that deaf youth who take the SDI:SR ASL score more similarly to youth without disabilities taking the SDI:SR than youth with disabilities. The SDI:SR ASL can be an important tool for researchers and practitioners to better understand self-determination among deaf youth and facilitate continued development of self-determination skills.

Introducción: Existen diversas escalas diseñadas para determinar el riesgo de desnutrición al ingreso hospitalario en población infantil, sin embargo, la mayor parte de estos instrumentos se desarrollan y publican en lengua inglesa, siendo preceptiva su adaptación transcultural y validación para poder ser utilizados en nuestro país.Objetivos: Adaptar transculturalmente 3 escalas diseñadas para determinar el riesgo de desnutrición ligada a la enfermedad y determinar la validez de su contenido.Material y métodos: Adaptación transcultural mediante el método de traducción-retrotraducción de acuerdo con las recomendaciones de la International Test Commission Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests. Se midió la validez de contenido a través de un panel de expertos (bajo 7 criterios básicos de selección adaptados del modelo Fehring) que evaluaron cada ítem de las escalas midiendo 4 criterios: ambigüedad, sencillez, claridad y relevancia. Con la puntuación extraída se obtuvo el estadístico V de Aiken para cada ítem y para las escalas completas.Resultados: Partiendo de 3 traducciones independientes por escala se obtuvieron 3 versiones definitivas en castellano de las escalas PNRS, STRONGkids y STAMP semánticamente equivalentes a sus versiones originales. Las escalas PNRS y STRONGkids presentaron una V de Aiken superior a 0,75 en todos sus ítems, mientras que escala STAMP presentó un valor inferior a 0,75 para el ítem «peso y altura».Conclusión: Este estudio aporta las versiones en castellano adaptadas transculturalmente de las escalas PNRS, STRONGkids y STAMP. Las escalas PNRS y STRONGkids presentan un contenido válido para ser aplicadas en el contexto hospitalario estatal. STAMP requiere la adaptación de su ítem «peso y altura» para considerar adecuado su uso en población infantil española. (AU)


Introduction: There are various scales designed to determine the risk of malnutrition at hospital admission in children. However, most of these instruments are developed and published in English. Their cross-cultural adaptation and validation being mandatory in order to be used in our country.Objectives: Cross-culturally adapt three scales designed to determine the risk of malnutrition linked to the disease and determine the validity of their content.Material and methods: Cross-cultural adaptation using the translation-back-translation method in accordance with the recommendations of the International Test Commission Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests. Content validity was measured by a panel of experts (under seven basic selection criteria adapted from the Fehring model) who evaluated each item of the scales by measuring 4 criteria: ambiguity, simplicity, clarity and relevance. With the extracted score, Aiken's V statistic was obtained for each item and for the complete scales.Results: Starting from three independent translations per scale, 3 definitive versions in Spanish of the PNRS, STRONGkids and STAMP scales were obtained semantically equivalent to their original versions. The PNRS and STRONGkids scales presented an Aiken's V greater than 0.75 in all their items, while the STAMP scale presented a value less than 0.75 for the item “weight and height”.Conclusion: This study provides the transculturally adapted Spanish versions of the PNRS, STRONGkids and STAMP scales. The PNRS and STRONGkids scales present valid content to be applied in the state hospital context. STAMP requires the adaptation of its item “weight and height” to consider its use in a Spanish child population adequate. (AU)

English translation plays an important role in the development of science and technology and cultural exchanges. With the increase in translation volume, intelligent translation has become inevitable, but there is no effective solution for semantic translation in English translation. To provide an effective translation improvement scheme in English translation, this paper studies and analyzes the application of deep neural network in English translation semantic analysis. Based on a brief analysis of the research progress of English translation analysis and the current situation of neural network, a neural network translation architecture is established, and a deep neural network model for English translation analysis is proposed. Aiming at the problem of gradient disappearance in RNN model, the ability of Gru neural network to deal with long-distance translation is enhanced, and the computational complexity of Gru neural network is reduced. At the same time, a bi-directional Gru model is designed to translate according to the context. For some nonlinear translation, a deep neural network model based on part of speech sequence information is proposed to realize semantic analysis, and experiments are designed to test the translation effect of the neural network model. The simulation results show that the English translation based on deep neural network can improve the translation effect, reduce errors and improve the accuracy of semantic analysis of English translation, which has certain reference significance for improving the level of English translation.

Currently, both manual and automatic evaluation technology can evaluate the translation quality of unreferenced English articles, playing a particular role in detecting translation results. Still, their deficiency is the lack of a close or noticeable relationship between evaluation time and evaluation theory. Thereupon, to realize the automatic Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) of unreferenced English articles, this paper proposes an automatic TQA model based on Sparse AutoEncoder (SAE) under the background of Deep Learning (DL). Meanwhile, the DL-based information extraction method employs AutoEncoder (AE) in the bilingual words' unsupervised learning stage to reconstruct the translation language vector features. Then, it imports the translation information of unreferenced English articles into Bilingual words and optimizes the extraction effect of language vector features. Meantime, the translation language vector feature is introduced into the automatic DL-based TQA. The experimental findings corroborate that when the number of sentences increases, the number of actual translation errors and the evaluation scores of the proposed model increase, but the Bilingual Evaluation Understudy (BLEU) score is not significantly affected. When the number of sentences increases from 1,000 to 6,000, the BLEU increases from 96 to 98, which shows that the proposed model has good performance. Finally, the proposed model can realize the high-precision TQA of unreferenced English articles.

BACKGROUND: The importance of resilience, and interest in it, has increased markedly in recent years, based on the need to understand why some children and young people have a resilience to stress that others lack. At the same time, there has been a lack of instruments to measure resilience. The aim of this study was to translate the Adolescent Resilience Questionnaire (ARQ) into Swedish and investigate the psychometrics of this Swedish version. METHODS: A normative sample of 616 students aged 15-17 was recruited through the school system in five different communities. Students filled out a digitalised composite form consisting of ARQ and three other standardised questionnaires, the Sense of Coherence Scale-13 (Soc-13), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and the Relationship Questionnaire (RQ). RESULTS: The ARQ, with five domains and twelve subscales, showed good alpha coefficients α = .95 for the total scale and subscales ranging between α = .70 to .91, except for the subscales Emotional insight (α = 0.69) and Empathy/Tolerance (α = .61). The convergent validity, which was tested for the first time in this study, was good, especially with the Internal Domain for both SOC-13 and RSES. The confirmatory factor analysis showed a satisfactory construct validity. Finally, some gender differences were seen, with boys scoring higher on the total ARQ scale. CONCLUSION: The study shows that the Swedish translation of ARQ has satisfactory psychometric properties. The ARQ could therefore be used as a tool for adolescents when evaluating the importance of resilience.

Background and objectives: Pediatric Outcome Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) is among the most described scales developed to evaluate the physical status of children and adolescents with various musculoskeletal disorders. We aimed to translate PODCI from English to Serbian, culturally adopt items and domains, evaluate the temporal stability, internal consistency and the test-retest reliability of PODCISR in children with obstetrical brachial plexus lesion (OBPL), and finally, to test the construct validity of PODCISR against muscular manual test (MMT) Materials and Methods: The study included 48 eligible participants aged between 2 and 10 years with OBPL. The MMT was used to test the construct validity. Results: There were no significant differences (p > 0.05) between test and retest for all PODCISR domains. Correlations for all tested domains with MMT were statistically significant except for biceps muscle and domains II and IV. Cronbach's alpha value of the Global Functioning Scale was good and equaled 0.838 for test and 0.832 for retest session. Cronbach's α was more than 0.600 for all PODCISR domains except for Domain II and for Domain IV. The observed Test-Retest ICC for all PODCISR domains scores ranged from 0.899 to 0.996. Conclusion: The Serbian version of PODCI (PODCISR) was successfully translated and transculturally adopted. It has satisfactory temporal stability, construct validity and test-retest reliability as well as relevant internal consistency.

This methodological study aimed to verify the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Holistic Nursing Competence Scale (HNCS), which comprises five dimensions and 36 items. The English version of the HNCS was forward and backward translated and administered to 251 participants with more than a year of work experience in a general hospital. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 24.0(Chicago, IL, USA), and AMOS program was used for confirmatory factor analysis. Additionally, the "Task Performance Evaluation Instrument for Clinical Nurses" was used for concurrent validity. Reliability assessed using Cronbach's α was 0.969. Convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity were good. Average variance extracted and construct reliability ranged from 0.845 to 0.932 and 0.980 to 0.987, respectively. The model was suitable with the chi-square value being 1216.563 (df = 584, p < 0.001), and Q value being less than three. Goodness-of-fit index, root mean square residual, and root mean square error of approximation were 0.784, 0.066, and 0.066, respectively. Moreover, comparative fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, and incremental fit index were 0.913, 0.906, and 0.913, respectively. Thus, this study verified the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the HNCS. Our findings suggest that the scale is helpful in measuring and developing the holistic nursing competence of clinical nurses.

BACKGROUND: Patient engagement is recommended for improving health care services, and to evaluate its organisation and impact appropriate, and rigorously evaluated outcome measures are needed. METHODS: Interviews (N = 12) were conducted to assess relevance of the Canadian Public and Patient Engagement Evaluation Tool (PPEET) in a Norwegian setting were performed. The tool was translated, back translated, and assessed following cognitive interviews (N = 13), according to the COSMIN checklist. Data quality was assessed in a cross-sectional survey of patient advisory board members from different rehabilitation institutions (N = 47). RESULTS: Interviews with patient board representatives confirmed the relevance of the PPEET Organisational questionnaire in a Norwegian setting and contributed five additional items. Translation and back translation of the original PPEET showed no major content differences. Differences in vocabulary and sentence structure were solved by discussion among the translators. Comments from cognitive interviews mainly related to the use of different synonyms, layout, and minor differences in semantic structure. Results of the cross-sectional survey support the data quality and construct validity of PPEET items, including 95 score comparisons where 76 (80%) were as hypothesized. CONCLUSIONS: The PPEET Organisational questionnaire has been thoroughly translated and tested, and the resulting Evalueringsverktøy for Brukermedvirkning (EBNOR) has adequate levels of comprehensibility and content validity. Further testing for measurement properties is recommended, but given these results, the EBNOR should be considered for assessing patient engagement in a Norwegian health care organisational context.

Transformer neural models with multihead attentions outperform all existing translation models. Nevertheless, some features of traditional statistical models, such as prior alignment between source and target words, prove useful in training the state-of-the-art Transformer models. It has been reported that lightweight prior alignment can effectively guide a head in the multihead cross-attention sublayer responsible for the alignment of Transformer models. In this work, we make a step further by applying heavyweight prior alignments to guide all heads. Specifically, we use the weight of 0.5 for the alignment cost added to the token cost in formulating the overall cost of training a Transformer model, where the alignment cost is defined as the deviation of the attention probability from the prior alignments. Moreover, we increase the role of prior alignment, computing the attention probability by averaging all heads of the multihead attention sublayer within the penultimate layer of Transformer model. Experimental results on an English-Vietnamese translation task show that our proposed approach helps train superior Transformer-based translation models. Our Transformer model (25.71) outperforms the baseline model (21.34) by the large 4.37 BLEU. Case studies by native speakers on some translation results validate the machine judgment. The results so far encourage the use of heavyweight prior alignments to improve Transformer-based translation models. This work contributes to the literature on the machine translation, especially, for unpopular language pairs. Since the proposal in this work is language-independent, it can be applied to different language pairs, including Slavic languages.

Background: Nurses should have humanistic qualities to identify what the patient needs with an effective care plan and meet these needs. The aim of this study is to conduct the Turkish validity and reliability study of the Humanistic Practice Ability of Nursing Scale. Methods: This methodological study was carried out with 300 nurses online (e-mail, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram) between April 02, 2021, and May 15, 2021. A questionnaire prepared via docs.google.com/forms was sent to the nurses. The scale was translated into Turkish, and then, the content and construct validity of its Turkish version was obtained through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale was tested by performing item analysis and internal consistency analysis. Results: The analysis revealed that the content validity index of the scale was 0.96. In the exploratory factor analysis performed within the scope of the Turkish adaptation of the scale, the rate of the total variance explained was 59.63%. Factor loadings of all the items ranged between 0.47 and 0.79. While Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.93 for the overall Humanistic Practice Ability of Nursing Scale, it ranged from 0.71 to 0.89 for its subscales. The exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis revealed no necessity of making any revision or modification in the scale. Therefore, the 29-item and five-dimension structure of the Humanistic Practice Ability of Nursing Scale was used in its Turkish version. Goodness-of-fit index values were obtained after the CFA was performed. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the Humanistic Practice Ability of Nursing Scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool to assess nurses' humanistic practice ability.

This work presents initial results of translation, design, development and expert testing of a digitally mediated dialogue based tool for schizophrenia care in Sweden. Dialog+ is a conversational methodology that has been shown to empower patients, promote co-produced and more cost-effective care. Dialog+ was translated and the digital application was redesigned to fit with the local context using human-centered design principles. Initial results of expert user testing, using heuristic evaluations and cognitive walkthroughs, shows promise for the method to work well also in Swedish settings. Initial testing with patients shows promising results. This work exemplifies how care patterns can be improved by considering the information layer of the interaction and creating shared and collaborative working spaces during treatment sessions can help to both empower patients and facilitate a more co-produced treatment plan.

Objetivo: Adaptar transculturalmente o módulo de cuidados agudos do National Early Warning Score 2 para o português brasileiro. Método: Estudo metodológico de adaptação transcultural, autorizado pelo Royal College of Physicians, realizado no período de julho de 2020 a julho de 2021. Aprovado por Comitê de Ética, sob no 4.247.069 e registro na Plataforma Brasil no 36540020.4.0000.5292. Juízes das cinco regiões brasileiras, enfermeiros, avaliaram as equivalências semântica, idiomática, cultural e conceitual entre o material original e as versões traduzidas. Enfermeiros atuantes em 30 hospitais brasileiros, realizaram o teste piloto, com a finalidade de assegurar que a versão adaptada preservava as equivalências em relação ao conteúdo da versão original. A análise qualitativa de adaptação cultural foi executada. Resultados: O módulo foi adaptado transculturalmente, sendo que 94% das avaliações dos juízes foram concordantes sobre a equivalência entre a versão original e a adaptação proposta. Conclusão: O módulo foi adaptado para o português brasileiro.(AU)

We aimed to investigate the association between social vulnerability and the quality of life of older adults. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 805 older adults. Quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF and WHOQOLOLD instruments. Moreover, the older adults were evaluated according to the level of social vulnerability of the sector they live in. We found that older adults living with medium and high/very high social vulnerability had lower quality of life scores in the social relationships domain and the sensory skills facet compared to those with low social vulnerability. Those who lived in medium social vulnerability sectors had lower scores in the physical domain and in the past, present, and future activities facet. Translating these results into older adult care practice is in line with the new health paradigms that aim to overcome the current biological model of health care an moves toward the active aging approach.

BACKGROUND: Social attitudes experienced by people with disabilities can strongly impact upon their health and quality of life. The extent to which social attitude measurement transcends specific cultures is unknown. Thus, the aim of the study was to develop German item banks to assess social attitude barriers and facilitators to participation and compare the construct definition with that developed in the United States. METHODS: The American version of the two item banks assessing social attitudes that act as barriers and facilitators in persons with disabilities was translated into German and culturally adapted. The sample consisted of 410 in- and outpatients treated for spinal diseases at a German University Hospital. The psychometric properties of the resulting 53 items-item pool were evaluated using Rasch analysis. A special focus was placed on the investigation of unidimensionality, local independence, differential item functioning (DIF) and targeting. To evaluate convergent and divergent validity correlations with perceived social support, depression and pain interference were calculated. RESULTS: Unlike the American version, both the barriers and facilitators item banks had to be divided into two subscales assessing attitudes that individuals with disabilities experience as being directed towards them (individual perception) or attitudes that respondents experience as being directed towards people with disabilities as a social group (societal perception). Four unidimensional scales were constructed. Fit to the Rasch model required item deletion and forming testlets to account for extensive local dependence. There was no evidence of DIF with regard to gender or age. Targeting of the subscales was moderate to good. CONCLUSIONS: Results support a distinction between social attitudes at the individual and societal level, allowing a more specific assessment than is possible when this distinction is ignored.

RESUMO

The current automatic recognition method of machine English translation errors has poor semantic analysis ability, resulting in low accuracy of recognition results. Therefore, this paper designs an automatic recognition method for machine English translation errors based on multifeature fusion. Manually classify and summarize the real error sentence pairs, falsify a large amount of data by means of data enhancement, enhance the effect and robustness of the machine translation error detection model, and add the source text to translation length ratio information and the translation language model PPL into the model input. The score feature information can further improve the classification accuracy of the error detection model. Based on this error detection scheme, the detection results can be used for subsequent error correction and can also be used for error prompts to provide translation user experience; it can also be used for evaluation indicators of machine translation effects. The experimental results show that the word posterior probability features calculated by different methods have a significant impact on the classification error rate, and adding source word features based on the combination of word posterior probability and linguistic features can significantly reduce the classification error rate, to improve the translation error detection ability.

Today, we have entered an era of big data. Under the background of global economization, communication in all walks of life is becoming more and more frequent and cross-language communication is inevitable. Cross-language communication is difficult for many people. The online translation system can greatly reduce the communication barriers between people of different languages. As an efficient tool, the translation system can realize the translation of different languages under the conditions of retaining the original semantics equivalent conversion. The article adopts the Internet of Things technology and big data model to build an English intelligent translation system, which can realize intelligent translation between multiple languages and English. The research results of the article show the following: (1) For samples with high semantic feature values, the correlation coefficient and similarity coefficient will be higher. Therefore, it can be concluded that for different semantics, the similarity is generally positively correlated with its feature value and correlation coefficient. The translation speed of the system proposed in the article is the fastest among the three translation systems. When the number of sentences is 10,000, the translation speed of the translation system proposed in the article is 5.89 seconds, the translation speed of the network multilingual translation system is 6.74 seconds, and the translation speed of the traditional translation system is 10.53 seconds. (2) The translation accuracy of the big data intelligent translation model proposed in the article is the highest among the three models. The translation accuracy of simple sentences can reach 99%. The translation accuracy of general sentences is 98%, and the translation accuracy of complex sentences is 95%. The BLEU value of the method in this paper is basically the same as that of the RNN cyclic neural network translation model. When translating general sentences, the BLEU value of the method in this paper is slightly higher than that of the RNN cyclic neural network translation model; especially when translating complex sentences by machine, the BLEU value of the method in this paper is far higher than that of the RNN translation model. (3) The average response time will increase with the increase in the number of tests, and the success rate generally remains above 98%, close to 100%, indicating that the response time of the system operation is normal. The number of designed test cases for the data processing module is 90, the number of executed test cases is 90, and the execution rate can reach 100%. Normal operation means that in the process of operation, no fault occurs. In the system load test, the load of serial number 1 is normal, the average delay is 38 seconds, the average delay of serial number 2 is 48 seconds, the average delay of serial number 3 is 59 seconds, the average delay of serial number 4 is 62 seconds, and the average delay of serial number 5 is 47 seconds. The delay of data packets under all kinds of loads can meet the standard requirements.

INTRODUCTION: In an increasingly globalised and interconnected world, evidence to evaluate complex interventions may be generated in multiple languages. However, despite its influence in shaping the evidence base, there is little literature explicitly connecting the translation process to the goals and processes of implementation research. This study aims to explore the processes and experience of an international implementation research team conducting a process evaluation of a complex intervention in Tibet Autonomous Region, China. METHODS: This study uses a collaborative autoethnographic approach to explore the translation process from Chinese or Tibetan to English of key stakeholder interview transcripts. In this approach, multiple researchers and translators contributed their reflections, and conducted joint analysis through dialogue, reflection and with consideration of multiple perspectives. Seven researchers involved with the translation process contributed their perspectives through in-depth interviews or written reflections and jointly analysed the resulting data. RESULTS: We describe the translation process, synthesise key challenges including developing a 'voice' and tone as a translator, conveying the depth of idioms across languages, and distance from the study context. We further offer lessons learnt including the importance of word banks with unified translations of words and phrases created iteratively during the translation process, the need to collaborate between translators and the introspective work necessary for translators to explore their positionality and reflexivity during the work. We then offer a summary of these learnings for other implementation research teams. CONCLUSION: Our findings emphasise that in order to ensure rigour in their work, implementation research teams using qualitative data should make concerted effort to consider both the translation process as well as its outcomes. Given the numerous multinational or multilingual implementation research studies using qualitative methods, there is a need for further consideration and reflection on the translation process.

BACKGROUND: The Dyspnoea-12 (D-12) questionnaire is widely used and tested in patients with breathing difficulties. The objective of this study was to translate and undertake the first evaluation of the measurement properties of the Norwegian version of the D-12 in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) attending a 4-week inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programme. METHODS: Confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess structural validity. Fit to the Rasch partial credit model and differential item functioning (DIF) were assessed in relation to age, sex and comorbidity. Based on a priori hypotheses, validity was assessed through comparisons with scores for the COPD Assessment Test (CAT), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scales (HADS) and clinical variables. RESULTS: There were 203 (86%) respondents with a mean age (SD) of 65.2 (9.0) years, and 49% were female. The D-12 showed satisfactory structural validity including presence of physical and affective domains. There was acceptable fit to Rasch model including unidimensionality for the two domains, and no evidence of DIF. Correlations with scores for the CAT, HADS and clinical variables were as hypothesised and highest for domains assessing similar aspects of health. CONCLUSIONS: The Norwegian version of the D-12 showed good evidence for validity and internal consistency in this group of patients with COPD, including support for two separate domains. Further testing for these measurement properties is recommended in other Norwegian patients with dyspnoea.
