RESUMO

The present study was conducted with a view to examining the impact of occupational stress on employees' health risk. A total number of 350 garment employees (114 supervisors and 236 workers) were selected from 25 readymade garment factories of Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur industrial areas of Bangladesh on a random sampling basis. Occupational stress was estimated using an ERIs modified questionnaire; when self-reported health problems, work related information and socio-demographic information were obtained using face-to-face interviews using a pre-formed questionnaire. The survey was conducted for 2 years from January 2020 to December 2021 in Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts where most of the garment industries in Bangladesh are located. All data were processed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Decision Analyst Stats, Version 2.0. For analyzing data, suitable statistical tools such as two-way ANOVA, z-test, chi-square test, Pearson's product-moment correlation, stepwise multiple regressions, and descriptive statistics were used. The results of the present study reveal that the occupational stress had a significant positive influence on health risk. The findings also reveal that both the male and female employees perceived garment job highly stressful and risky for their health causes many dies and sickness, but it was higher among the female employees than their counterparts. Study suggests that due to major illness and diseases garments' employees are lacks of sound health that have to consider remedying for reducing occupational stress and health risk.

BACKGROUND: Bangladesh is one of the world's largest garment exporters. Physical working conditions of garment workers are precarious and known to largely affect their health. Research on garment workers' psychosocial working conditions, however, is scarce. We aimed to quantify psychosocial working conditions of garment workers and possible associations with workers' health. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey among 1,118 ready-made garment (RMG) workers in labor colonies in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in February 2021. Descriptive analyses were performed to characterize social stressors (e.g., being bullied at work, poor leadership) and social resources at work (e.g., receiving support at work, vertical trust between management and employees, beneficial leadership) and workers' health (self-reported overall health and 10 specific health complaints). To examine links of social stressors and social resources with self-reported health outcomes we ran multivariable Poisson regression models yielding prevalence ratios (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS: We found low to moderate levels of workplace bullying and high levels of poor leadership (i.e., supervisors not caring about workers' problems). We also found high levels of social support, vertical trust and beneficial leadership (i.e., supervisors taking decisions free of bias). Garment workers frequently suffered from health complaints, first and foremost headache (68.3%), cold (55.3%), and back pain (50.7%). Health outcomes were poorer among workers who reported to be bullied at work versus not bullied (e.g., PR 1.55 [95% CI 1.32-1.92] for poor self-reported health when bullied by colleagues) and health was better among those reporting to feel supported versus unsupported (e.g., PR 0.61 [0.52-0.71] for poor self-reported health when supported by supervisor). Perceived vertical trust between workers and management was weakly associated with better health. Leadership behavior did not display a consistent pattern. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that working conditions of RMG workers are rather good (e.g., characterized by low levels of bullying and high levels of support, vertical trust and beneficial leadership). The majority of workers reported good or very good health, although health complaints were frequently mentioned, first and foremost headache, cold, and back pain. Associations between psychosocial working conditions and health indicate worse working conditions being associated with poorer health.

Spraying repellents on clothing limits toxicity and allergy problems that can occur when the repellents are directly applied to skin. This also allows the use of higher doses to ensure longer lasting effects. As the number of repellents available on the market is limited, it is necessary to propose new ones, especially by using in silico methods that reduce costs and time. In this context SAR models were built from a dataset of 2027 chemicals for which repellent activity on clothing was measured against Aedes aegypti. The interest of using either the ECFP or MACCS fingerprints as input neurons of a three-layer perceptron was evaluated. Transformation of MACCS bit strings into disjunctive tables led to interesting results. Models obtained with both types of fingerprints were compared to a model including physicochemical and topological descriptors.

Based on the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) framework, this research introduces perceived value and immersive experience, and builds a model of media interaction affecting consumers' consumption of clothing in mobile short video app (MSVA). Among the conducted survey, using the method of questionnaire survey, a total of 820 questionnaires were collected, and data from 752 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. The research results showed that the MSVA media interaction has a positive impact on perceived value, immersion experience, and purchase intention; Perceived value has a significant positive impact on immersion experience and purchase intention; Immersion experience has a significant positive impact on purchase intention. Perceived value and immersion experience play a mediating role in the relationship between social media interactivity and purchase intention. This research will provide theoretical support for clothing marketing businesses of MSVA and suggestions for the development and design of MSVA.

In order to improve the efficiency of cloth laying and cutting integrated production process, this article proposes a method of optimal scheduling of cloth laying and cutting garment production system process based on big data and genetic algorithm. The chromosomes in the algorithm are expressed by real strings. The method of bit string crossover and mutation is used to solve the premature problem of the algorithm. The experimental results show that the actual cutting time of the plan is 736 min, and the total idle time is 113 min. The idle time occurs in processes 25, 28, 34, 35, and 31, respectively. The cutting time of the plan arranged by the genetic algorithm is 627 min, and there is no idle time. Conclusion. This method can effectively solve the optimal scheduling problem of the cloth laying and cutting production process.

A person's walking pattern can reveal important information about their health. Mounting multiple sensors onto loose clothing potentially offers a comfortable way of collecting data about walking and other human movement. This research investigates how well the data from three sensors mounted on the lateral side of clothing (on a pair of trousers near the waist, upper thigh and lower shank) correlate with the data from sensors mounted on the frontal side of the body. Data collected from three participants (two male, one female) for two days were analysed. Gait cycles were extracted based on features in the lower-shank accelerometry and analysed in terms of sensor-to-vertical angles (SVA). The correlations in SVA between the clothing- and body-mounted sensor pairs were analysed. Correlation coefficients above 0.76 were found for the waist sensor pairs, while the thigh and lower-shank sensor pairs had correlations above 0.90. The cyclical nature of gait cycles was evident in the clothing data, and it was possible to distinguish the stance and swing phases of walking based on features in the clothing data. Furthermore, simultaneously recording data from the waist, thigh, and shank was helpful in capturing the movement of the whole leg.

Most clothing recommendation methods have problems such as high resource consumption and inconsistent subjectively labeled clothing labels. Based on this, a multilabel classification algorithm based on deep learning (DL) theory is introduced, based on which the clothing style recognition model is constructed. Next, the concept of the decision tree algorithm is given, and the clothing recommendation model is built based on this algorithm. Moreover, the clothing style recognition model based on a multilabel classification algorithm and the clothing recommendation system based on a decision tree algorithm are tested by building simulation experiments and combining neural network technology. Finally, the application of the decision tree algorithm and DL theory in clothing recommendation design is studied through the literature collection method. The research focus is to realize the recognition of clothing through decision tree algorithm and DL method to achieve the intelligent recommendation of clothing style. The results show that: (1) the neural network technology in DL theory can realize efficient recognition and classification of clothing style by automatically extracting image features and combining with a multilabel classification algorithm. (2) The decision tree algorithm can make an initial recommendation according to users' style preferences, then make implicit recommendations through user retrieval, browsing, and other operations, and make dynamic clothing style recommendations to users. (3) When the neural network based on a multilabel classification algorithm is trained, the precision, recall rate, and F1 values are 0.73, 0.43, and 0.55, respectively. (4) After using the clothing recommendation system based on the decision tree algorithm, the subjects' average satisfaction is 86.25%, indicating that this system can give users a better clothing recommendation experience. This exploration aims to provide a crucial reference for further improving the quality of clothing recommendation services. It has important theoretical significance and practical value for the development of artificial intelligence in the field of fashion design, and is expected to provide a reference for the development of bionics.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has required restrictions of daily activities, which has been found to impact the lives of persons living with dementia (PLWDs) and their family caregivers, who have multiple care demands. The lack of relevant studies in Taiwan emphasized the need to explore the experiences of family caregivers of older PLWDs faced with the intensified restrictions to control the spread of COVID-19, and the impact of the availability of a smart-clothes home nursing program. METHODS: This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews with family caregivers of older PLWDs. Participants were recruited from dementia clinics of a medical center in northern Taiwan from a subset of a sample from a larger study on smart-clothes assisted home nursing care. A total of 12 family caregivers who participated in the original study were interviewed during the follow-up period; seven family caregivers of a PLWD wearing a smart-vest, which transmitted information to a home care nurse; five caregivers of a PLWD not wearing a smart-vest. Interviews were conducted by telephone because the conditions of the pandemic prevented face-to-face interviews. Recorded interviews were transcribed and analyzed using content analysis. RESULTS: Interview data showed family caregivers' felt the care recipient's health was compromised and functional conditions intensified as Covid-19-related pandemic restrictions increased. Specific concerns included a lack social interactions, decreased daily activity levels, loss of interest and lack of motivation for activities, increased mood and behavioral problems, a decline in physical function and an increase in health problems. Family caregivers were also impacted by these restrictions, with significant increases in severity of caregiver role strain, including feeling trapped, a lack of in-home support, profound powerlessness, and worries about the PLWD contracting the coronavirus. The smart-clothes assisted home nursing care program offered supplementary support to family caregivers by providing on-time interactions, helping them manage health problems, enhancing predictability of the care recipient's behaviors, and providing caregivers with emotional support. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study support alternative care such as implementation of technology-assisted home health services to meet caregiver needs to facilitate family caregiving of PLWDs during the necessary restrictions in activities implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. BACKGROUND: Disperse dyes (DDs) are the most prevalent causes of textile-related allergic contact dermatitis and are used for colouring synthetic textile materials based on fibres such as polyester, acrylic, acetate and polyamide. Eight DDs are included in a textile dye mix (TDM) 6.6% petrolatum (pet.) in the European baseline patch test series. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to patch test TDM 6.6% pet. positive individuals with the extracts of synthetic fibre clothes that do not contain any of the pure DDs present in the TDM 6.6% to study the reactivity pattern. METHODS: Seventy-three TDM-positive former patients tested between 2012 and 2017 at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Dermatology in Malmö, Sweden were invited to join the study, 10 participated. Twenty-four textile items (collected in nine countries in Europe, Asia and North America in 2012) were extracted in dichloromethane. The TDM 6.6% was patch tested simultaneously with the 24 textile item preparations in petrolatum made from the extracts. Prior to patch testing the participants filled the 7-question questionnaire regarding possible symptoms from textile exposure. RESULTS: Ten individuals, agreed to join the study. Eight of them reacted to TDM 6.6%. Nine participants reacted to 20 of 24 extracts. One reacted to 19 extracts, another to 14, 3 to 5 extracts, 1 to 4, 1 to 3 extracts and 2 to 2 extracts. One was negative to all tested preparations including TDM 6.6%. The participants mainly reacted to six textile extracts. All controls tested negatively to tested extracts. Four individuals of the 10 TDM-allergic individuals previously had had problems after wearing clothes. Four out of the 10 participants had had atopic eczema in childhood. All women had dyed their hair with permanent hair dyes but none of the males. CONCLUSION: TDM-positive patients react to textile extracts made from synthetic garments, even if they do not contain any of the pure DDs present in TDM 6.6%. More studies are needed to pin-point the culprit haptens in these extracts.

Shooting distances are utilized, among other forensic input, to position shooters and victims at the crime scene. Shooting distance estimation is done, mainly under the knowledge or assumption, that no intervening object has been present between the target and the muzzle. In the analysis of clothing items of victims that have been involved in a shootout, it is assumed that most of the marks and materials are left on the outer layers of clothing. The outer layers, not the inner layers, are the first objects the bullet meets. Consequently, undergarments are often disregarded for shooting distance estimation as they are not assumed to contain sufficient information in the form of marks or materials. In light of the above, it is the standard operating procedure in some forensic laboratories not to examine underwear. In this case report, the forensic examiners started by the implementation of standard operating procedures, thus examining only the outer layers of clothing of the victims. A thorough visual examination of the various clothing items led a forensic examiner to decide to extend the standard operating procedures, and try and examine an undergarment of one of the victims as well. The interpretation of examination products led to different scene reconstruction, one that may have led to a different interpretation of evidence. In this case, simply sticking to standard operating procedures might have led to less accurate crime scene reconstruction. This case report comes to stress the importance of thorough inspection of forensic exhibits, and scientific and critical thinking about different scenarios. Moreover, it demonstrates how the case-by-case approach in shooting distance estimation may add meaningful information, and eventually-bring us even closer to the truth.

Manufacturing a customized mastectomy bra, using medical images obtained for breast cancer treatment, could be suggested as an alternative instead of the anthropometric method. However, the breast shape of a medical image is deformed from the anthropometric method as the measurement posture is different between the anthropometric method for making clothes and the medical image. As a breast consists of adipose tissues and a few muscles without bones, there is a possibility that a bra can be manufactured if the volume is constant. Therefore, a hypothesis was established that the volume of the breast would be constant, even if the measurement methods were different. As a result of the comparison of 3D-SIM and PPM by MRI, 18 items could be measured simultaneously. Nine items showed differences according to the measurement method. The next step in the case of 3D-SIM was calculating the volume by separating the breast shape into a cone and a hemispherical shape; in the case of MRI, an ellipsoidal volume formula was applied. A t-test was performed on the results obtained, showing no significant difference. Therefore, it was proven that the volume of the breast does not change despite the difference in the measurement and the measurement method.

The development of virtual reality technology has promoted the unceasing reform and development in the field of fashion design. Aiming at the key technologies and research difficulties in 3D clothing design, the structure of convolution neural network was designed, and a 3D clothing design model based on convolution neural network and virtual reality was constructed. By designing experiments, the average error, matching rate, prediction accuracy, pressure value, and other evaluation indexes are used to measure the performance of convolution neural network model in virtual reality three-dimensional clothing design. The results show that: first, the convolution neural network has the fastest training speed, with the maximum error of 1.63% and the average error of 0.48%. Second, with the increase of parameters, the matching degree of each part of the version and the corresponding data of the human body will gradually increase, the matching rate will slowly improve, and finally tends to 0.9 or so to achieve stability, Thirdly, the prediction accuracy of the convolution neural network is 92.689%, and the loss value is the least. Fourthly, in the virtual fitting and garment wearing experiments, the fit of the sample is within the allowed range, indicating that the automatic generation of fit sample has wearability and rationality.

Objective: Autistic children experience sensory challenges that interfere with participation and increase parent stress. Sensory-based interventions are used to address children's behaviors affected by sensory processing difficulties, but research is limited regarding use of sensory garments to support participation of autistic children. This study explored sensory garment effects on participation, parental competence, and perceived stress of autistic children and their parents. Method: Twenty-one children were recruited and 17 males with ASD and atypical sensory processing patterns completed the 14-week study. The Canadian Occupational Performance (COPM) and Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) were used to set and monitor participation goals. After a baseline period, children wore sensory garment(s) for 8 weeks. The COPM, GAS, Parent Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF), and Parent Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC) were administered four times (prebaseline, before and after the intervention, and three weeks postintervention). Results: There were moderate to large significant differences in both COPM and GAS scores after the intervention and from the beginning to the end of the study indicating sensory garments may improve participation of autistic children. There were no significant differences in PSI or PSOC at any timepoint. Two children rejected the garments. Conclusions: Parent- or child-selected sensory garments may improve participation in individually meaningful activities for children who can tolerate wearing them. Children's improvement in participation did not improve parent stress or competence, possibly due to the passive nature of the intervention. More research is needed explore the influence of heterogeneous sensory patterns on response to intervention.
