RESUMO

Increasing surface air temperature is a fundamental characteristic of a warming world. Rising temperatures have potential impacts on human health through heat stress. One heat stress metric is the wet-bulb globe temperature, which takes into consideration the effects of radiation, humidity, and wind speed. It also has broad health and environmental implications. This study presents wet-bulb globe temperatures calculated from the fifth-generation European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts atmospheric reanalysis and combines it with health guidelines to assess heat stress variability and the potential for reduction in labor hours over the past decade on both the continental and urban scale. Compared to 2010-2014, there was a general increase in heat stress during the period from 2015 to 2019 throughout the northern hemisphere, with the largest warming found in tropical regions, especially in the northern part of the Indian Peninsula. On the urban scale, our results suggest that heat stress might have led to a reduction in labor hours by up to ~20% in some Asian cities subject to work-rest regulations. Extremes in heat stress can be explained by changes in radiation and circulation. The resultant threat is highest in developing countries in tropical areas where workers often have limited legal protection and healthcare. The effect of heat stress exposure is therefore a collective challenge with environmental, economic, and social implications.

O estudo da crescente feminização da área da Medicina de Família e Comunidade coloca na agenda de estudiosos a preocupação com os fatores e impactos dessa tendência nas trajetórias das carreiras das médicas, principalmente daquelas que estão exercendo suasatividades em áreas periféricas. O objetivo do estudo do qual resulta este artigo foi compreender como as médicas justificam suas escolhas e permanências no exercício da Medicina de Família e Comunidade, mesmo em contextos considerados potencialmente violentos. Realizamos uma investigação de caráter qualitativo, que dialogou com aspectos da cartografia, a partir de entrevistas realizadas com oito médicas de família que se fixaram em áreas de alta vulnerabilidade social em uma capital brasileira. A análise dos enunciados apontou para o gênero como o eixo marcador de diferença, destacando o empuxo exercido pela maternidade, o conceito gênero em sua dinâmica interseccional. Identificamos que a responsabilização pelo cuidado permanece impactando o processo decisório das mulheres, (re)definindo o equilíbrio entre vida pessoal/familiar e trabalho e (de)limitando as trajetórias de suas carreiras.


The growing trend of feminization of family practice raises scholars' concerns about the factors and effects of this trend on the trajectories of female medical careers, particularly those working in outlying areas. The aim of the study, from which this article results, was to understand how medical women justify their choices and permanence in the family practice career while working in contexts considered potentially violent. We carried out a qualitative study with cartographic aspects, based on interviews with eightfamily doctors who are settled in areas of high social vulnerability in a large city in Brazil. The analysis of the statements pointed to gender, in its intersectional dynamics, as the major axis of difference in the practice. Motherhood is highlighted ashaving a major impact on female professionals. Our study identified that the duty of care persists in impacting women's decision-making, (re) defining the balance between personal and family life and (de) limiting their career trajectories.

Evaluation of a complex healthcare intervention should include careful exploration of the mechanisms through which it brings about change. This paper describes a qualitative evaluation of the Redesigning Daily Occupations (ReDO®-10) programme as it was implemented for the first time with women with stress-related issues in a primary care setting in Ireland. The ReDO®-10 is a 10-week group intervention designed to support participants make changes to their daily activity patterns to have a more satisfying and balanced daily life. Fourteen women were interviewed after completing the programme. The aim was to explore changes that participants perceived they experienced and to understand how the content of ReDO®-10 was thought to bring about this change (if it did). Directed content analysis was used to analyse the qualitative data using the Behaviour Change Wheel and Theoretical Domains Framework as a coding framework. Overall, four BCW functions of ReDO® -10 were identified: Education, Persuasion, Modelling and Enablement. Participants described improved belief in their own capabilities, knowledge and goals around life changes. Many behaviour changes were also described, particularly in relation to doing more restorative activities in daily life. Behaviour change techniques that were identified as important for change were practicing new, restorative occupations in group sessions and as homework and the use of self-analysis activities to understand the relationship between activities and health for these participants. Modelling, support and other effects of group dynamics were also vital in changes that occurred.

Resumen (analítico) Chile es un caso emblemático en la instalación de una política de protección a la infancia con orientación neoliberal. Actualmente, esta política es ejecutada casi completamente por organizaciones privadas, financiadas conforme al logro de indicadores de desempeño estandarizados. Algunas investigaciones plantean que estos indica-dores gobiernan la racionalidad de los trabajadores y trabajadoras; empero, estudios internacionales señalan que este tipo de gobernanza no solo es racional, sino también afectiva. A partir de un análisis textuala-fectivo de 14 entrevistas individuales y dos talleres grupales realizados a cinco trabajadoras y un trabajador de distintos organismos colaboradores del Servicio Nacional de Menores, se reporta que este modelo de gestión consume y maquiniza los cuerpos de estas y estos profesionales. No obstante, el afecto es el que hace posible la resistencia.


Abstract (analytical) Chile is an emblematic case in the implementation of a neoliberal child welfare policy. This policy is now almost entirely undertaken by private organizations, financed based on their achievement of standardized performance indicators. Scientific literature suggests that these indicators govern workers' rationality. However, international studies indicate that the effect of indicators is not just rational but also affective. From a textual-affective analysis of 14 interviews and 2 workshops conducted with 5 female workers and 1 male worker from different partner organizations within the Chilean National Service for Minors, participants reported that this management model consumes and mechanizes the work carried out by these professionals. However, it is affectivity that makes resistance possible.


Resumo (analítico) O Chile é um caso emblemático na instalação de uma política neoliberal de proteção à criança. Esta, é hoje quase inteiramente executado por organizações privadas, financiadas de acordo com a obtenção de indicadores de desempenho padronizados. Pesquisas sugerem que estes indicadores governam a racionalidade dos trabalhadores; enquanto estudos internacionais indicam que este governo não é apenas racional, mas também afetivo. A partir de uma análise textual-afetiva de 14 entrevistas e duas oficinas realizadas a cinco trabalhadoras e um trabalhador de diferentes Organizações Colaboradoras do Serviço Nacional de Menores, é relatado que este modelo de gestão consome e mecaniza os órgãos destes profissionais. No entanto, é o afeto que torna possível a resistência.

Es mucho el trabajo por delante para mejorar la evidencia científica de las desigualdades sociales en salud.

Objetivo: La temprana aparición de brotes COVID-19 en colectivos de trabajadores despertó preocupación por la posible existencia de factores de riesgo laborales en la transmisión de la enfermedad. Identificar una eventual relación entre la actividad económica del trabajo y el riesgo de enfermar para así poder habilitar políticas para colectivos laborales más vulnerables. Métodos: Presentamos los índices de incidencia de COVID-19, confirmada por Prueba Diagnóstica de Infección Activa, por división del Código Nacional de Actividad Económica de todos los trabajadores y trabajadoras de Navarra afiliados a la Seguridad Social para las divisiones con incidencia y número de expuestos superiores a sus Percentiles75.(AU)


Objective: The early appearance of COVID-19 outbreaks in groups of workers raised concerns about the possible existence of occupational risk factors in the transmission of the disease. To identify a possible association between economic work activity of work and risk of illness in order to enable policies for more vulnerable groups of workers. Methods: We present the incidence rates for COVID-19, confirmed through active infection diagnostic testing, by National Economic Activity Code for all workers in Navarra, registered in the social security system, for those divisions with an incidence and number of exposed persons above their respective 75th percentiles.(AU)

El teletrabajo es una realidad compleja que se encuentra en pleno desarrollo desde hace varias décadas. La situación de pandemia por la COVID-19 aceleró dicho proceso. Son variadas las formas de presentación, siendo la del trabajo a domicilio quizás de las más frecuentes. El objetivo del presente estudio fue realizar una revisión narrativa exploratoria y reflexiva sobre el teletrabajo en los aspectos positivos (pros) y negativos (contras) en relación con la salud física y mental de la persona teletrabajadora. Así, de la literatura consultada se identifican factores de riesgo para la salud de los teletrabajadores, mayoritariamente corresponden a daños derivados de la exposición a riesgos psicosociales y ergonómicos. Destacan como daños a la salud mental las alteraciones del sueño, la ansiedad y la angustia y la depresión. Con respecto a los daños a la salud física se identifican trastornos músculo-esqueléticos, alteraciones derivadas de la disminución de la actividad física por el sedentarismo y el estrés, en particular enfermedades no transmisibles, y alteraciones de la visión. Desde la prevención se deberán fomentar acciones dirigidas a políticas vinculadas con la organización del teletrabajo. En particular se deberá prestar atención a los tiempos de trabajo y de descanso, asegurando el denominado derecho a la desconexión. El diseño ergonómico del puesto de trabajo y la realización de pausas activas son elementos que contribuyen también al bienestar del trabajador. La participación activa de los actores sociales, trabajadores, empleadores y Estado, resulta estratégica para que el teletrabajo contribuya al trabajo decente y no a su precarización. (AU)


Teleworking has been growing over the decades, arising many challenges to overcome. The COVID-19 pandemic situation accelerated this process. The forms of presentation are varied, homework perhaps is the most frequent. The objective of this study was to carry out a review on teleworking in the positive and negative aspects in relation to the physical and mental health of the teleworker.So, from the literature consulted, risk factors for health are identified, most of them cor-respond to damages derived from exposure to psychosocial and ergonomic risks. Sleep disturbances, anxiety and distress, and depression stand out as damage to mental health. With regard to damage to physical health, musculoskeletal disorders, alterations resulting from the decrease in physical activity due to sedentary lifestyle and stress, in particular non-communicable diseases, and alterations in vision are also identified. From a preventive perspective, actions aimed at policies linked to the organization of teleworking should be encouraged. In particular, those related with working and resting times, ensuring, among other aspects, the so-called right to disconnection. The ergonomic design of the workstation and taking active breaks are an element that also contributes to the well-being of the worker. The active participation of social actors, workers, employers and the state is strategic for teleworking, contributing to decent work and not to its precariousness. (AU)

La pandemia originada por la COVID-19 ha provocado, como necesidad súbita e imprevisible, la implantación del teletrabajo en los sistemas productivos de la generalidad de los países. Muchos Estados han tenido que recurrir a normas antiguas y desfasadas que no asumían las pocas garantías de los instrumentos internacionales y supranacionales existentes. Sin embargo, otros países han aprovechado la situación de emergencia sanitaria para reformar y actualizar sus normas de teletrabajo. La presente contribución tiene por objeto analizar las nuevas normas surgidas con ocasión de la pandemia y efectuar una valoración general de sus contenidos para comprobar si se adaptan a las exigencias y recomendaciones que, en una sociedad digital, deben caracterizar al teletrabajo. Para ello hacemos un recorrido por el ordenamiento internacional con la finalidad de identificar los instrumentos, reglas y principios que nos puedan ayudar a perfilar las instituciones básicas que deben sostener la regulación del teletrabajo para, seguidamente, hacer una valoración de las legislaciones que en los últimos meses se han implantado en algunos de los países que integran el espacio iberoamericano (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, España, El Salvador, México, Perú, Portugal) para hacer frente a esta realidad. El análisis efectuado evidencia que, aún con escasos referentes internacionales, los distintos ordenamientos han sabido articular regulación, garantistas que observan las pocas directrices existentes: voluntariedad, reversibilidad y un conjunto importante de derechos para las personas teletrabajadoras. No obstante, existen cuestiones pendientes que deben ser abordadas con una mayor profundidad: las relacionadas con el derecho a la salud laboral y con los derechos digitales, así como el desarrollo de la institución mediante la negociación colectiva, mecanismo que podría equilibrar los distintos intereses y garantizar una mayor aceptación de estas regulaciones. The pandemic occasioned by COVID-19 has caused, as a sudden and unpredictable need, the introduction of teleworking in the productive systems of most of the countries. Many States have had to resort to old and outdated norms that did not assume the few guarantees of the existing international and supranational instruments. However, other countries have taken advantage of the health emergency situation to reform and update their telework regulations. The purpose of this contribution is to analyze the new regulations that emerged during the pandemic and to carry out a general assessment of their contents to check if they are adapted to the demands and recommendations that, in a digital society, should characterize teleworking. The purpose of this contribution is to analyze the new rules that have arisen from the pandemic and to make a general assessment of their contents to check whether they are adapt-ed to the requirements and recommendations that, in a digital society, should characterize teleworking. To do this we make a tour of the international legal system in order to identify the instruments, rules and principles that can help us to outline the basic institutions that should support the regulation of telework to, then, make an assessment of the laws that in recent months have been implemented in some of the countries that make up the IberoAmerican space (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Portugal) to deal with this reality. The analysis carried out shows that, even with few international references, the different legal systems have been able to articulate guaranteeing regulations that observe the few existing guidelines: voluntariness, reversibility, and an important set of rights for teleworkers. CONTEXT: Work-family guilt has been reported among athletic trainers (ATs) working in the intercollegiate setting; however, it has yet to be fully explored from a descriptive, in-depth perspective. OBJECTIVE: To better understand the experiences of work-family conflict and guilt of intercollegiate ATs who are parents. DESIGN: Descriptive qualitative study. SETTING: Intercollegiate athletics. PATIENTS OR OTHER PARTICIPANTS: Twelve collegiate ATs (females = 6, males = 6) participated in the study. All 12 were married (12 ± 7 years) with an average 2 ± 1 children (range = 1-4). The ATs reported working 51 ± 9 hours per week and spending 11 ± 7 hours per week on household duties or chores. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS: One-on-one interviews were conducted with all participants. An inductive descriptive coding process was used to analyze the data after saturation was met. Peer review and researcher triangulation were completed. RESULTS: Conflict and guilt were discussed as unavoidable given the equally demanding roles of AT and parent. The resulting guilt was bidirectional, as each role is equally important to the AT. The management theme was specifically defined by 3 subthemes: creating a separation between work and parenting roles, the benefits of having a supportive workplace, and the importance of having coworkers and supervisors with shared life experiences. CONCLUSIONS: The ATs experienced work-family conflict and feelings of guilt from their parental responsibilities. The guilt described by the ATs was bidirectional, as they placed high value on both their parenting and athletic training roles. Guilt was balanced and managed by reducing the spillover from the parental role into work or work into time at home. By separating roles and having supportive workplace environments, including coworkers and supervisors who had similar life experiences, ATs felt they were better able to meet work and home demands.

Objetivo: Identificar quais os sentidos do trabalho atribuídos às enfermeiras em suas rotinas diárias de atuação. Método: A abordagem do estudo apresentou-se de forma qualitativa e, a coleta de dados, procedeu mediante entrevistas individuais com nove participantes no período de abril de 2019. As categorias de análise foram compostas no eixo dos sentidos do trabalho e seus seis constructos (utilidade social, oportunidades de aprendizagem e desenvolvimento, autonomia, cooperação e relacionamento com os demais colaboradores). Resultados: Os seis constructos foram identificados e correlacionados com a rotina de trabalho de cada profissional. Os resultados indicaram que o sentido do trabalho para cada profissional possui características polissêmicas e, muitas vezes, confrontantes. Conclusão: Esta pesquisa contribui com as discussões a respeito da sensibilização dos profissionais enfermeiros quanto aos sentidos do trabalho e a essência do cuidado à profissão(AU)


Objective: Identify the meanings of work attributed to nurses in their daily work routines. Methodology: The study approach was presented in a qualitative way and data collection proceeded through individual interviews with nine participants. The analysis categories were composed in the work senses axis and its six constructs (social utility, learning and development opportunities, autonomy, cooperation and relationship with other employees). Results: The six constructs were identified and correlated with the work routine of each professional. The results indicated that the meaning of work for each professional has polysemic and often confronting characteristics. Considerations: This research contributes to discussions regarding the awareness of professional nurses about the meanings of work and the essence of care for the profession.(AU)


Objectivo: Identificar los significados del trabajo atribuidos al enfermero en sus rutinas laborales diarias. Metodología: El enfoque del estudio se presentó de forma cualitativa y la recolección de datos se realizó a través de entrevistas individuales con nueve participantes. Las categorías de análisis se compusieron en el eje sentidos del trabajo y sus seis constructos (utilidad social, oportunidades de aprendizaje y desarrollo, autonomía, cooperación y relación con otros empleados). Resultados: Se identificaron los seis constructos y se correlacionaron con la rutina de trabajo de cada profesional. Los resultados indicaron que el significado del trabajo para cada profesional tiene características polisémicas y muchas veces enfrentadas. Consideraciones: Esta investigación contribuye a las discusiones sobre la conciencia de los profesionales de enfermería sobre los significados del trabajo y la esencia del cuidado para la profesión(AU)

Este breve texto no solo quiere relevar la difusión del derecho médico entre la comunidad jurídica sino también es mi forma de agradecerle al personal médico, por el trabajo excepcional que han realizado al hacer frente a una enfermedad que se cobró la vida de 551 médicos peruanos en el 2021 y más de 200 mil peruanos, colegas, amigos y amigas entrañables, así como queridos familiares. Finalmente, la metodología que utilizaremos será proporcionar el texto legal preciso sobre los eximentes de responsabilidad médica aplicable no solo para el ámbito civil sino administrativo y penal, así como su aplicación al caso peruano con lo cual podremos dar tranquilidad a los médicos sobre la forma de proceder en el actual contexto de emergencia sanitaria en que nos encontramos sin incurrir en una falta, infracción o ilícito que pueda afectar su importante carrera profesional.

Organizations have shown an interest in socio-emotional competencies due to the current knowledge that they are as important as technical competencies for the best personal and professional development. However, there is no consensus in the literature regarding the conceptual definition of these competencies. Accordingly, this narrative review aimed at characterizing the concept of socio-emotional competencies and the instruments used in Brazilian and international studies in the context of organizations and work. The Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Biblioteca Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações databases were consulted, resulting in 26 articles composing the sample. The results show that there is a myriad of concepts about socio-emotional competencies, and that the instruments used evaluate mainly emotional intelligence, personality and other more consolidated constructs in the literature. The impacts of the multiple possibilities of conceptualizing and measuring socio-emotional competences are discussed (AU).


As organizações têm demonstrado interesse nas competências socioemocionais devido ao conhecimento atual de que são tão importantes quanto as competências técnicas para o melhor desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional. No entanto, não há consenso na literatura sobre a definição conceitual dessas competências. Nesse sentido, esta revisão narrativa teve como objetivo caracterizar o conceito de competências socioemocionais e os instrumentos utilizados nos estudos brasileiros e internacionais no contexto das organizações e trabalho. Foram consultadas as bases de dados Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar e Biblioteca Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações, resultando em 26 artigos compondo a amostra. Os resultados indicam uma miríade de conceitos sobre competências socioemocionais e que os instrumentos utilizados avaliam principalmente inteligência emocional, personalidade e outros construtos mais consolidados na literatura. Os impactos das múltiplas possibilidades de conceituar e mensurar competências socioemocionais são discutidos (AU).


Las organizaciones han mostrado interés en las habilidades socioemocionales debido al conocimiento actual de que son tan importantes como las habilidades técnicas para un mejor desarrollo personal y profesional. Sin embargo, no hay consenso en la literatura sobre la definición conceptual de estas competencias. En consecuencia, esta revisión narrativa tuvo como objetivo caracterizar el concepto de competencias socioemocionales y los instrumentos utilizados en los estudios brasileños e internacionales en el contexto de las organizaciones y del trabajo. Se consultaron las bases Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar y Biblioteca Digital Brasileña de Tesis y Disertaciones, lo que resultó en 26 artículos que componen la muestra. Los resultados indican una gran cantidad de conceptos sobre las competencias socioemocionales y que los instrumentos empleados evalúan principalmente la inteligencia emocional, la personalidad y otros constructos más consolidados en la literatura. Se discuten los impactos de las múltiples posibilidades de conceptualizar y medir las competencias socioemocionales (AU).

O presente estudo visou adicionar evidências de validade à Escala de Potencial Criativo no Trabalho, por meio da investigação da influência de variáveis relacionadas ao sujeito (gênero, idade e nível de escolaridade) e ao ambiente organizacional (tempo de empresa) nos resultados do teste e investigar a precisão do instrumento por meio do método de teste e reteste. A amostra foi composta por 371 participantes, com idade média de 33,1 anos, funcionários de empresas de pequeno a grande porte. Nenhuma das variáveis se mostrou significativa nos dois fatores do instrumento (bloqueios e barreiras à criatividade; atributos e características que favorecem a criatividade). Somente três interações se mostraram significativas (sexo x idade no Fator 1; escolaridade x idade no Fator 1; idade x tempo no Fator 2). A precisão se mostrou adequada (r = 0,650 no Fator 1 e r = 0,729 no Fator 2). Estudos voltados à investigação de outras qualidades psicométricas do instrumento são recomendados (AU).


The goal of this study was to add evidence of validity for the Creative Potential at Work Scale, by investigating the influences of variables related to the subject (sex, age, level of education) and the organizational environment (length of time in the company) on test results. The reliability of the instrument was also examined using the test and retest method. Participants in the study were 371 employees employed in small to large companies with a mean age of 33.1 years. There was no significant relationship between any of the variables and the two factors of the instrument (blocks and barriers to creativity; attributes and characteristics that promote creativity). There were only three significant interactions in the study (sex x age for Factor 1; education x age for Factor 1; age x time for Factor 2). In this study, reliability was found to be adequate (r=.650 for Factor 1 and r=.729 for Factor 2). The instrument should be investigated further to determine its other psychometric properties (AU).


El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo agregar evidencias de validez a la Escala de Potencial Creativo en el Trabajo, investigando la influencia de las variables relacionadas con el tema (género, edad y nivel de educación) y el entorno organizacional (tiempo en la empresa) en los resultados a través del método de test-retest. La muestra consistió en 371 participantes, con una edad media de 33.1 años, empleados de pequeñas y grandes empresas. Ninguna de las variables resultó significativa en los dos factores del instrumento (bloqueos y barreras a la creatividad; atributos y características que favorecen la creatividad). Solo tres interacciones fueron significativas (sexo x edad en el Factor 1; educación x edad en el Factor 1; edad x tiempo en el Factor 2). La precisión demostró ser adecuada (r = 0.650 en el Factor 1 y r = 0.729 en el Factor 2). Se recomienda la realización de estudios para investigar otras cualidades psicométricas del instrumento (AU).

We examined the prospective association of physical exertion at work with subsequent tobacco, cannabis, alcohol use, and sugar and fat consumption. Volunteers of the French population-based CONSTANCES cohort currently employed were included from 2012 to 2017 for tobacco and cannabis outcomes (n = 100,612), and from 2012 to 2016 for alcohol and sugar and fat outcomes (n = 75,414). High level of physical exertion at work was defined as a score ≥ 12 at the Rating Perceived Exertion Borg scale. Substance use was self-reported and diet rich in sugar and fat was obtained from principal component analysis and analyzed as quartiles. Generalized linear models computed odds of substance use and sugar and fat consumption at follow-up according to baseline physical exertion at work, while adjusting for sociodemographic factors, depressive symptoms and baseline level of consumption. High physical exertion was associated with tobacco use with dose-dependent relationships. It was also associated with increased odds of cannabis use at least once per month compared to no use in the past and with increased odds of diet rich in sugar and fat. Hence, the role of physical exertion at work on tobacco and cannabis use and diet rich in sugar and fat should be tackled for information and prevention strategies.

PURPOSE: Male urinary incontinence (UI) is a global health issue associated with bothersome symptoms which affect daily life. This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of male UI in China, Taiwan, and South Korea and to determine if UI is an independent risk factor affecting the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), mental health, work limitations, and healthcare seeking behavior. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A post-hoc analysis was conducted on the LUTS Asia database which was collated from a cross-sectional, population-based internet survey in China, Taiwan, and South Korea. Prevalence of male UI was assessed, and the effect on HRQoL, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) depression and anxiety scores, work performance, and healthcare seeking behaviors was determined using univariate and multivariate analyses. RESULTS: A total of 4,076 male participants were surveyed. Prevalence of male UI was 17.3%. UI adversely affected the HRQoL in both physical and mental domains. Both multivariate and univariate analyses showed that male UI could be correlated with a negative effect on the HADS anxiety and depression scores. Multivariate analysis suggested that work difficulties were correlated to the presence of UI. Up to 28% of participants who reported urge UI only did not adopt any management measures. CONCLUSIONS: UI is common in men over 40 years and adversely impacts HRQoL. It is an independent risk factor for anxiety and depression and may cause significant work limitations. Despite these negative effects, many men still do not seek any intervention.

Los riesgos psicosociales derivados del trabajo, como la sobrecarga laboral, tienen un impacto negativo en la calidad de vida laboral, especialmente en el deterioro de las condiciones laborales y en la salud de los empleados. El estilo de liderazgo ejercido es clave en el afrontamiento de los riesgos psicosociales percibidos. El propósito de este estudio fue analizar la influencia del liderazgo transformacional y la sobrecarga laboral sobre los problemas psicosomáticos, y el papel moderador del liderazgo transformacional en la relación entre sobrecarga laboral y problemas psicosomáticos. La muestra consistió en 408 empleados españoles que trabajan con personas con discapacidad intelectual. Sobrecarga laboral y Problemas psicosomáticos se midieron con las subescalas UNIPSICO y Liderazgo transformacional se midió con una subescala adaptada del Cuestionario Multifactorial de Liderazgo (Bass & Avolio, 1989). El análisis de moderación mediante PROCESS 3.4 mostró que tanto Sobrecarga laboral como Liderazgo transformacional tuvieron una influencia significativa sobre Problemas psicosomáticos. Además, Liderazgo transformacional moderó la relación entre Sobrecarga laboral y Problemas psicosomáticos. El liderazgo transformacional amortigua el impacto de la sobrecarga laboral en la salud de los empleados y, por lo tanto, se destaca la necesidad de implementar programas de capacitación para directivos en las organizaciones con el fin de ejercer una gestión saludable.(AU)


Psychosocial risks arising from work, like workload, have a negative impact on the quality of work life, especially in terms of the dete-rioration in working conditions and negative consequences for employees’ health. The style of leadership exercised is key in coping with perceived psychosocial risks. The purpose of this study was to analyse the influence of transformational leadership and workload on psychosomatic disorders, and the moderating role of transformational leadership in the relationship between workload and psychosomatic disorders. The sample consisted of 408 Spanish employees working with people with intellectual disabilities. Workload and Psychosomatic disorders were measured by the UNIPSICO subscales, Transformational leadership was measured by a subscale adapted from the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (Bass & Avolio, 1989). Carrying out moderation analysis in PROCESS 3.4 results showed that both Workload and Transformational leadership had a significant in-fluence on Psychosomatic disorders. In addition, Transformational leader-ship moderated the relationship between Workload and Psychosomatic disorders. Transformational leadership buffers the impact of workload on employees’ health and therefore in the need to carry out training programs for managers in organizations in order to exercise a healthy management.(AU)

En este estudio, se analizaron las propiedades psicométricas de la versión en español (Bakker et al., 2018) de la escala Job Crafting de Tims et al. (2012) en población latinoamericana. Aplicamos la escala a una muestra de 903 empleados (42.6% mujeres y 57.4% hombres) de Colombia y Ecuador. Se examinaron la fiabilidad y la validez. Los resultados del análisis factorial confirmatorio mostraron un ajuste adecuado tanto en Colombia (CFI = .916, TLI = .900, IFI = .917, RMSEA = .060) como en Ecuador (CFI = .918, TLI = .903, IFI = .919, RMSEA = .064), en la estructura de cuatro factores de la escala original. Se encontró evidencia de validación, relacionada con el criterio de bienestar psicológico, para las dimensiones de recursos estructurales crecientes y demandas desafiantes crecientes. La versión en español de la escala demuestra su utilidad para la investigación en el contexto latinoamericano.(AU)


In this study, the psychometric properties of the Spanish version (Bakker et al., 2018) of the Job Crafting scale of Tims et al. (2012), was an-alyzed in a Latin American population. We applied the scale to a sample of 903 employees (42.6% women & 57.4% men) from Colombia and Ecua-dor. Reliability and validity were examined. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed an adequate fit both in Colombia (CFI = .916, TLI = .900, IFI = .917, RMSEA = .060) and in Ecuador (CFI = .918, TLI = .903, IFI = .919, RMSEA = .064), in the four-factor structure of the origi-nal scale. Evidence of validation, related to criterion for psychological well-being for the dimensions of increasing structural resources and increasing challenging demands, was found. The Spanish version of the scale demon-strates its usefulness for research in the Latin American context.(AU)

El interés por el estudio de las características del trabajo para explicar cómo la relación de un individuo con el entorno laboral puede conducir a respuestas desadaptativas ha cobrado una importancia renovada a la luz de la creciente preocupación por el desarrollo de organizaciones saludables y por la diversidad organizacional. Este estudio tiene como objetivo desarrollar una versión abreviada del Work Design Questionnaire (WDQ) con el fin de facilitar su uso e interpretación en este contexto. Las propiedades psicométricas de este cuestionario reducido se probaron en una muestra multisectorial de trabajadores en España. Para ello, aplicamos el cuestionario a una muestra de 500 trabajadores y analizamos la relación entre las carácterísiticas del trabajo y las variables seleccionadas de salud ocupacional (satisfacción, bienestar y agotamiento emocional). Los resultados mostraron una fiabilidad y una validez orientada al criterio adecuadas para la versión abreviada del WDQ, esto es, el WDQ18-S, así como evidencia de invarianza factorial de género. Posteriormente se discuten los resultados y sus implicaciones para el uso del WDQ en el ámbito aplicado e investigador de la salud ocupacional y la prevención de riesgos laborales.(AU)


Interest in the study of work characteristics to explain how an individual's relationship with the work environment can lead to maladap-tive responses has taken on renewed importance in the light of increasing concern for the development of healthy organizations and organizational diversity. This study aims to develop a shortened version of the Work De-sign Questionnaire (WDQ) with a view to facilitating its use and interpreta-tion. The psychometric properties of this shorter questionnaire were tested in a multi-sectoral sample of workers in Spain, with due consideration giv-en to the gender measurementinvariance. For this purpose, we applied the questionnaire to a sample of 500 workers and analyzed the relationship be-tween the answers provided to WDQ and specific occupational health var-iables (satisfaction, well-being and emotional exhaustion). Results showed adequate reliability and criterion-oriented validity for the shortened version of the WDQ, that is, the WDQ18-S, as well as evidence of factorial invari-ance across gender. We then discuss the results and their implications for the application of theWDQ in further research and the field of occupa-tional health and psychosocial risks prevention.(AU)

En el contexto de cambios generales en la sociedad en relación con la salud, la empresa saludable se proclama y acepta como algo necesario y legítimo. Este fenómeno se expande globalmente sin apenas cuestionamiento, promocionado por organismos internacionales y grandes empresas. Con presencia global y creciente en políticas y prácticas organizacionales y profesionales, parece ganar aún más fuerza tras la pandemia. Frente a la expansión del fenómeno y por incidir directamente sobre la salud de las personas, es ineludible un análisis del mismo más allá de su imagen positiva generalizada. En este artículo se identifican algunos peligros relevantes del fomento de la cultura de salud en el trabajo, desde una perspectiva ética, y entre ellos, no solo el carácter no beneficiente de algunas prácticas no contrastadas científicamente, sino, también, su propia condición maleficiente. En este trabajo se plantean, pues, los límites éticos para este fenómeno expansivo y se defiende que el principio fundamental para operar en este ámbito de relaciones asimétricas entre empleado y empleador es de no maleficencia y no tanto el de autonomía


In the context of general changes in our societies in relation to health, the healthy organization is proclaimed and accepted as something necessary and legitimate. This phenomenon is expanding globally without being really questioned and promoted by international organizations and large companies. With a global and growing presence in organizational and professional policies and practices, it appears to be gaining even more strength in the aftermath of the pandemic. Faced with the expansion of the pheno- menon and because it directly affects people’s health, an analysis of it beyond its general positive image is unavoidable. This article identifies some relevant dangers of promoting a culture of health at work, from an ethical perspective, and among them, not only the non-beneficial nature of some practices not scien-tifically proven, but also their own malignant condition. In this paper, therefore, the ethical limits for this expansive phenomenon are proposed and the fundamental principle to operate in this area of asymmetric relations between mployee and employer is not autonomy but non-maleficence.
