ABSTRACT
Jacoby and colleagues used an iterative rhythm reproduction paradigm with listeners from around the world to provide evidence for both rhythm universals (simple-integer ratios 11 and 21) and cross-cultural variation for specific rhythmic categories that can be linked to local music traditions in different regions of the world.
