RESUMO
O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o resultado do tratamento de sorriso gengival através do uso da toxina botulínica do tipo A. Foram avaliadas 3 pacientes do sexo feminino com a mesma queixa sorriso retraído por excesso de exposição da margem gengival causada por diferentes etiologias. As 3 pacientes foram submetidas a tratamento ortodôntico prévio. Após 14 dias de aplicação, todas mostraram-se satisfeitas com o resultado do tratamento, mesmo cientes de que o resultado é reversível e que ao menos a cada 4-6 meses será necessária nova aplicação de BTX-A. Concluiu-se que a BTX-A é uma alternativa eficaz, pouco invasiva e segura para tratamento de sorriso gengival (AU).
ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of gingival smile treatment using botulinum toxin type A. Three female patients with the same complaint were evaluated smile retracted due to excessive exposure of the gingival margin caused by different etiologies. All 3 patients underwent previous orthodontic treatment. After 14 days of application, all were satisfied with the result of the treatment, even though the result is reversible and at least every 4-6 months will require a new application of BTX-A. It was concluded that BTX-A is an effective, non-invasive and safe alternative for the treatment of gingival smile (AU).
