RESUMEN

En el síndrome de retención dentaria los dientes quedan encerrados dentro de los maxilares, manteniendo la integridad de su saco pericoronario fisiológico. Esta anomalía trae consigo afectaciones en las funciones oro- faríngeas, como la fonética, deglución y masticación, además de las implicaciones estéticas. Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 12 años de edad, sexo femenino, mestiza, con oclusión clase I de Angle. La madre refirió que presentaba persistencia del diente temporal. Se constató por estudio radiográfico la retención del 21 y persistencia del temporal. Se realiza la exodoncia del diente temporal, una vez que se hizo el entorche del diente por cirugía, se inició el tratamiento ortodóncico con aparatología removible y posteriormente con aparatología fija, lo que contribuyó a la egresión dentaria y la ubicación del diente en el arco. La paciente se encuentra en la etapa de finalización y satisfecha con el tratamiento realizado (AU)

ABSTRACT

In the dental retention syndrome, teeth are locked within the jaws, keeping the integrity of their physiological peri-coronary sac. This anomaly brings about affections in the oropharyngeal functions as phonetics, deglutition and mastication, besides the aesthetic implications. This is a case of a 12-year-old female mixed-race patient with Angle class I occlusion. The patients mother reported persistence of the childs temporary tooth. The radiographic study confirmed retention of 21 and persistence of the temporary. The temporary tooth extraction was performed, once the tooth was screwed by surgery, the orthodontic treatment started with removable appliances and later with fixed appliances, what contributed to the tooth egression and location of the tooth in the dental arch. The patient is at the end stage and she is satisfied with the treatment (AU)
