ABSTRACT
Anemia was investigated on 306 under 15 -year- old -children of 11 communes of Binh Phuoc province in June 2000. The investigation showed that the prevalence was higher in under 5 -year -old -children than anemia caused by malaria. Screening for iron deficiency in community can base only on the value of serum iron levels because blood ferratine tends to increase falsely due to the infection of malaria parasite repeated in the host. Children of ethnic minorities have had more manifestations than Kinh ethnic children and their iron deficit anemia risk has been 5 times higher than Kinh ethnic children
