Caracterización de los estilos de aprendizaje en estudiantes de tercer año de Medicina / Characterization of the learning styles of the 3rd year students of Medicine

RESUMEN

RESUMEN Fundamento el conocimiento de los estilos de aprendizaje de los estudiantes permite incidir positivamente en su rendimiento académico. Objetivo: caracterizar los estilos de aprendizaje de los estudiantes de tercer año de la carrera de Medicina de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Holguín. Métodos: se realizó una investigación descriptiva con enfoque cuanticualitativo. Se emplearon métodos teóricos análisis-síntesis e histórico-lógico, empíricos cuestionario de Honey-Alonso para determinar los estilos de aprendizaje, y los matemático-estadísticos se calculó el puntaje para los cuatro estilos, la media y su desviación estándar, y se conformaron las redes neuronales a partir de las respuestas. Resultados: los estilos de aprendizaje de los estudiantes se manifestaron con valores promedios muy similares, excepto el reflexivo que se caracterizó por porcentajes elevados de respuesta en ítems que se refieren a la prudencia. La centralidad de los datos está presente en los cuatro estilos, con mayor incidencia en el reflexivo con solo dos ítems periféricos y tres núcleos cuyos enfoques guardan estrecha relación. Conclusiones: predominó el estilo reflexivo en la muestra estudiada, con tendencia a cambios según la madurez intelectual que logren los estudiantes en el transcurso de la carrera.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Background: knowledge on students´ learning styles allows having a positive impact on their academic performance. Objective: to characterize the learning styles of the third year students of the Medicine degree of Holguín University of Medical Sciences. Methods: a descriptive investigation was carried out within the quantitative-qualitative approach. Theoretical methods were used analysis-synthesis and historical-logical, empirical ones Honey-Alonso questionnaire to determine the learning styles of the students, and mathematical-statistics the score was calculated for the four styles, the mean and its standard deviation, and the neural networks were formed from the answers. Results: the learning styles of the students were manifested with very similar average values, except the reflective one that was characterized by high percentages of response in items that refer to prudence. The centrality of the data is present in the four styles, with greater incidence in the reflective with only two peripheral items, and three nuclei whose approaches are closely related. Conclusions: the reflective style predominated in the studied sample, with a tendency to change according to the intellectual maturity that students achieve during the course of their studies.
