RESUMEN

Antecedentes el método científico es un camino de acceso a la intelección de la realidad. Consiste en dar razón sistemática, empírica y en lo posible experimental, de los fenómenos y se basa en dos nociones fundamentales la observación sistemática y la hipótesis. Método: este trabajo es un ensayo que versa sobre el método científico como una de las mayores conquistas del pensamiento humano. Resultados: se presentan las limitaciones intrínsecas de carácter general del método científico, así como las limitaciones intrínsecas que atañen a su aplicación específica a la psicología y a las ciencias humanas y sociales. Conclusiones: el método científico, basado en la comprobación sistemática de regularidades e hipótesis mediante su confrontación con los hechos observables, es el camino más firme para la intelección de la realidad empírica. Presenta, sin embargo, aspectos problemáticos en todos sus momentos y fases que deben tenerse en cuenta, so pena de salirse del campo de la ciencia. Se reflexiona sobre algunos de los horizontes a los que se abre el estudio de la conducta como acción física significativa. (AU)

ABSTRACT

Background: The scientifi c method is a way for access to the intellection of reality. It consists of giving a systematic, empirical and, as far as possible, experimental reason for the phenomena and is based on two fundamental notions systematic observation and hypothesis. Method: This work is an essay that deals with the scientifi c method as one of the greatest conquests of human thought. Results: The general intrinsic limitations of the scientific method are presented, as well as the intrinsic limitations that concern its specific application to psychology and human and social sciences. Conclusions: The scientifi c method, based on the systematic verifi cation of regularities and hypotheses by confronting them with observable facts, is the strongest way to understand empirical reality. It presents, however, problematic aspects in all its moments and phases that must be taken into account, under penalty of leaving the fi eld of science. It refl ects on some of the horizons to which the study of behavior as signifi cant physical actionopens. (AU)
