Representações sociais da depressão em jovens universitários com e sem sintomas para desenvolver a depressão / Social representations of the depression in young university students with and without symptoms to develop the depression

RESUMO

Esta pesquisa objetivou apreender as representações sociais da depressão nos estudantes do curso de Psicologia de uma universidade na cidade de João Pessoa-PB. Fizeram parte da amostra 56 universitários de ambos os sexos, com idades de 18 a 26 anos. Como instrumentos, foram utilizados o Beck Depression Inventory para screening da amostra e o Teste de Associação Livre de Palavras. Os dados foram processados pelo software Tri-Deux-Mots e analisados através da Análise Fatorial de Correspondência. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que os estudantes objetivaram suas representações da depressão na melancolia e desilusão, num vínculo de apoio e necessidade de ajuda. A carência afetiva foi apontada como desencadeante depressivo e os fatores associados à percepção de si mesmos são elaborados com a realidade social do contexto em que vivem, mostrando que as associações semânticas trazidas pelos universitários resultam dos problemas que circundam seu posicionamento na sociedade, assim como a informação da doença.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to understand the social representations of depression in the students of the Psychology Course from a university in the city of João Pessoa, PB. A number of 56 university students participated of the research, from both genders, aged between 18 and 26 years old. As instruments, the Beck Depression Inventory for the screening of the sample and the Test of Free Association of Words were used. Data were processed by Tri-Deux-Mots software (version 2.2) and were analyzed through the Factorial Analysis of Correspondence. The results obtained showed that the students objectified their representations of depression in the melancholy and disillusion, in a bond of support and necessity of care. Lack of affection was also pointed as a depressive fact, and the factors associated to the perception of themselves are elaborated with the social reality of the context in which they live, showing that the semantic associations brought by the university students are a result of the problems that surround their position in the society, as well as the information they gave about the illness.
