[Colorectal cancer: from shadows to light]. / Le cancer colorectal: de l'ombre vers la lumière.

ABSTRACT

Colorectal cancer often starts as an adenoma, which may, after many years, evolve into an invasive cancer. During the process, many medical interventions are possible that may modify the natural history of the disease with, as a consequence, a decrease in incidence and mortality. The main progress in the treatment of colorectal cancer is the discovery of agents that target pathways involved in the process of cancerization and invasion. These new approaches could dramatically improve the prognosis of our patients.
