Early intervention in the treatment of venous ulcers - a prospective case series of nine consecutive patients

ABSTRACT

Patients with chronic venous ulceration (CEAP C6) are traditionally treated conservatively with compression therapy, weight reduction and lef elevation. this is particularly true when the ulcers are infected with a significant amount of bioburden, as traditional open surgery may be complicated by surgical incision infection and dehiscence. We present a case series of nine consecutive patients and venous ulcers who underwent ultrasonic debridement and early minimally invasive vien surgery employing 810nm endovenous laser therapy (EVLT).
