ABSTRACT
In the climacteric, urogenital changes in the woman can lead to the occurrence of urinary incontinence (UI) and female sexual dysfunction (FSD). These are considered public health problems, as they can lead to a decrease in the quality of life of women in this period. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the occurrence and characteristics of UI and FSD in climacteric women in a health promotion group in a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. This cross-sectional quantitative research, with an exploratory and descriptive approach, included women over 50 years of age belonging to a health promotion group. The International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF), the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and a participant identification card were used. Twenty-three women (66.17 ± 7.04 years) were investigated. Of these, 6 (26.08%) had UI and/or 17 (73.91%) women had some type of sexual dysfunction, in which desire, excitement and orgasm troubles were the most cited. The frequency and amount of urinary loss were low. In this group, the high prevalence of FSD and the low occurrence of UI are influenced by psychosocial and emotional factors. (AU)
