Seminal and hormonal profiles of fertile and sub-fertile pakistani men

ABSTRACT

Semen characteristics [pH, volume, motility and density] and hormonal profiles [follicle stimulating hormone [FSH], luteinizing hormone [LH] and testosterone] of 596 men aged between 20 to 50 years were studied. The subjects were classified as normal, oligospermic [mild, moderate or severe] and azoospermic upon the results of semen examination, with the groups differing only with respect to sperm density. Inter relationship of the semen profile with the hormonal picture was also studied, and it was observed that only FSH varied significantly [inversely] with the sperm density
