Treatment of heroin addiction in the United States

ABSTRACT

The author review the three most important strategies of the treatment of heroin addiction in the United States. These are Methadone Maintenance, Therapeutic Communities and Drug-Free Outpatient Programs. Each one of these modalities is briefly described and evaluated and the possibility of adapting them to other cultures is considered
