Fundamentos La extensión puede constituir una estrategia de formación contribuyendo a una formación integral del estudiante y a visibilizar la actividad de extensión. Métodos:
Encuesta a través de un cuestionario auto administrado en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud con una muestra intencional ya que la convocatoria se realizó por redes sociales.Resultados:
El 63% no ha participado en un proyecto. Los que han participado califican su experiencia como buena. El 45,6% toma conocimiento a través de docentes y el 54,28% alega falta de tiempo como dificultad para vincularse a actividades. El 55,55 % creen conocer en qué consiste pero cuando se le solicita que la definan la conceptualizan tomando la vieja concepción de la extensión donde la Universidad es una institución superior a la comunidad, otros pareciera que la entienden como una actividad extra, marginal, sin tener en claro la finalidad y otras expresiones establecen la relación con poner en práctica la teoría o lo aprendido. En relación a la curricularización de la extensión el 74,7% refiere que debe ser obligatorio y el 77,7% de que debería ser optativo.Conclusiones:
Estas respuestas dejan entrever que los estudiantes quieren encontrar espacios para acercarse a la comunidad (AU)ABSTRACT
Background:
Extension courses can be a training strategy which may contribute to the integral education of students and to make extension practice more visible.Methods:
A survey in the form of a questionnaire which was self-administered in the Faculty of Health Care Sciences was conducted with an intentional sample, since the announcement to participate was made through social networks.Results:
63% of the sample had not participated in any extension projects. Those who had had a previous experience described it as a good one. A group comprising 45.6% of participants knew about the extension courses through teachers, and 54.28% claimed they lacked time to engage in any of those courses. Another group, 55.55 %, believed they knew what extension courses were, but when they were asked about a definition, they resorted to the old idea of extension as a practice performed by university which was seen as an organization of a higher status in relation to the community; others seemed to understand extension as an extra, marginal activity with no clear idea of its purpose; finally, others referred to the concept of extension as putting theory into practice. With regard to the inclusion of extension activities in graduate program curriculums, 74.7% of participants stated it should be compulsory, and 77.7% expressed it should be optional.Conclusions:
The answers suggest that students are willing to find opportunities to reach the community (AU)
