Objective:
To examine the influence of exercise during pregnancy on the gestational age in weeks at the time of delivery and the number of preterm delivery in the scientific literature. Material andmethods:
We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis, only randomized clinical trials were examined. Gestational age in weeks and the number and percentage of preterm delivery were analized. Results:
We analyzed 43 studies and found a minimal effect between moderate exercise during pregnancy and duration of pregnancy (95% IC= -0.11, .03; I2= 54,1%, Pheterogeneity= 0.001). On the other hand, the studies also showed that the inactive women present a 7 % more probability of suffer a preterm delivery (RR = 0.93 [95% IC= .79 - 1.09] I2= 0.0 %, Pheterogeneity= 0.918).Conclusions:
Moderate exercise during pregnancy shows no association with the duration of pregnancy at the time of delivery and reduces the incidence of preterm delivery
