RESUMEN

Se determina la efectividad de la educación personalizada de enfermería con manual de autocuidado sobre el conocimiento del paciente adulto que recibe quimioterapia ambulatoria. El presente estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, prospectivo y de corte longitudinal. El diseño metodológico es cuasi-experimental. Se ha trabajado con un solo grupo de estudio al cual se le aplicó un cuestionario en dos oportunidades, antes y después de la intervención. La muestra estuvo representada por 40 pacientes adultos que recibieron quimioterapia por primera vez durante los meses de marzo y abril de 2004 en la Unidad de Quimioterapia Ambulatoria. Existe elevada diferencia significativa en el nivel de conocimientos de los pacientes en la pre y post intervención, lo que evidencia la efectividad de la educación personalizada de enfermería con Manual de Autocuidado, observándose que antes de la educación sólo el 17,5% tuvo un nivel de conocimientos suficiente, el 40% parcial y el 42,5% insuficiente. Después de la educación personalizada el 97,5% tuvo un nivel de conocimientos suficiente y sólo el 2,5% restante fue insuficiente.

ABSTRACT

The study determines the effectiveness of the custom education of infirmary with self care handbook on the mature patient's knowledge that he/she receives ambulatory chemotherapy. The present study is of quantitative, prospective type and of longitudinal court. The methodological design is quasi-experimental, one worked before with a single study group to which was applied a questionnaire in two opportunities, and after the intervention. The Sample was represented by 40 mature patients that received chemotherapy for the first time during the months of March and April of the 2004 in the Unit of Ambulatory Chemotherapy. There is high significant difference in the level of knowledge of the patients in the pre and post intervention, which evidences the effectiveness of the custom education of infirmary with self care handbook, being observed that before the education only 17.5% he/she had a level of knowledge enough, 40% partial and 42.5% insufficient. After the custom education 97.5% he/she had a level of knowledge enough and only 2.5% remained insufficient.
