Apophysary fracture or avulsion of the greater trochanter

RESUMO

A fratura ou avulsão apofisária do grande trocanter ocorre em pacientes esqueleticamente imaturos. Tem como fatores etiológicos mecanismos indiretos (avulsão) ou mecanismos diretos (trauma sobre o trocanter), sendo este último o mais comum. Sua apresentação clínica é de fácil identificação e um simples raios-X pode confirmar o diagnóstico, no entanto independentemente do meio de tratamento, apresenta uma alta correlação com osteonecroseda cabeça femoral, apesar de ser um fato raro, porém de aparência inocente, nesta patologia.

ABSTRACT

The apophysary fracture or avulsion of the greater trochanter occursin skeletally immature patients. It has at etiological factorsindirect mechanisms (avulsion) and direct mechanisms (traumaon the trochanter), this latter being the most common. The clinicalpresentation is easily identified and a simple X- ray can confirm thediagnosis. Regardless of the treatment chosen, this pathology hasa high correlation with osteonecrosis of the femoral head, even asa rare fact, however with innocent appearance, on this pathology.
